AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update. Prayer Requests: 2/3 -Washington Nearsider has been and remains sincerely grateful for the prayers and well-wishes of the Horde. He has withdrawn his TSP and has enough money left to get through late March – early April. He will accrue debt with the custody hearings which begin 3/6. He has 3 interviews scheduled for the week of 2/5. He is also attempting to expand his custom model building services to bring in additional income by leaning on 20 years of experience building models of all kinds: building planes, tanks, ships, etc. Please contact him through the comments or email Annie’s Stew, and she can send you his direct contact information. He sends his thanks for his daily dose of sanity in an otherwise crazy world, and for the constant stream of wonderful Fani Willis euphemisms.
2/28 Update – Washington Nearsider has learned that this coming Wednesday, he is likely to lose full custody of his two young children until he can replace the salary he lost after being removed from his federal position. While he is still pursuing a higher-level job, he has started working at the local Home Depot, more to keep his children insured than for the wages. He has several more interviews over the coming week or so and hopes that at least one of them will pan out. His savings will run out in about three weeks, and then things have the potential to become extremely difficult; however, three weeks is three weeks, and anything could happen between now and then.
3/14 Update – Washington Nearsider lost custody of his children on March 13. The judge agreed to re-evaluate the custody arrangements after Nearsider’s income has returned to its previous level, which is a win. His savings will be entirely depleted at the end of the month, and thus far, his prospects seem poor. He’s had one job offer for a position in Ohio which would replace 70% of his previous salary, but he doesn’t want to move away from his children, and moving out of state while going through family court is frowned upon. Hopefully something good will happen soon. 2/3 – Reforger asked for prayers for his Coworker, “D”, a widowed mom of 4 who is having a rough time with daughter #1. The daughter is skipping school, was caught 3 times and now police and social workers are involved. “D” is beside herself. She is having to miss work (and pay) to do probation stuff and keep appointments with “therapists”.
2/10 Update – Reforger reports that Coworker “D” and her daughter are doing better. He also relayed a funny story that ended up with him being able to bless “D” with another $200!
3/2 Update – Coworker D’s daughter had to be incarcerated. She went nuts, trashed her room, broke things, and even kicked a cop. She could use a lot of prayers. 2/3 – Fenelon Spoke asked for “P”, who needs prayers for his return to faith as a Christian. Also, prayers for Pam, who needs continued healing after a pacemaker insertion, are appreciated.
2/24 Update – Please keep praying for “P” and his faith. 2/10 – Berserker-Dragonheads Division is in the hospital. He had a cardiac cath, then was sent straight in for bypass surgery.
2/11 Update – He had 2 arteries 100% blocked, 1 that was 95%, and another that was 80%. So he had a quad. He says the hospital and staff are great.
3/2 Update – He is healing well ahead of schedule. 2/24 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for Joanne, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, stage 4. Prayers are also needed for Karen, Joanne’s niece, who will have to manage things for Joanne (as the closest family member). 2/26 – Alex the Chick reported that Bandersnatch passed away last night. 2/27 – rhennigantx asked for prayers for his friend Tim, who had a stroke on Sunday.
3/9 Update – Prayers are still needed for Tim and his daughters. They are moving Tim to a rehab hospital. 2/29 – DaveT asks for prayers. We had prayed in the past for him, as he was trying to save his cats and his home from repossession (due to a relative who burdened the family home with debt). DaveT is over 65 and is not able to work much. The cats are elderly and one is blind, and the only family he has. Things had turned around and it looked like he was going to be fine last summer, but now a new judge is on the case and seems to want to kick DaveT and the cats out of the house. Please pray. If anyone wants to contribute, Annie’s Stew has the details of his givesendgo.
3/20 Update – The sham trial took place on 3/20. The judge would not allow DaveT to speak or give any evidence. He is still taking donations for a new appeal. 3/2 – Sa: tolle adversarium et afflige inimicum at asked for prayers for those affected by the Panhandle wildfires. Many still own their land, but literally nothing else. 3/2 – Eromero thanked the Lord for the many blessings already received, for placing each of us on His path, and for the strength to resist temptation, and for Jesus, who paid for our sins. 3/2 – Matthew Kant Cipher asked for prayers for his SIL, whose brother (late forties) died suddenly/unexpectedly this week. 3/2 – FortWorthMike sent some updates. The good news is that his grand niece, who we prayed for when she was in need of a kidney transplant, celebrated her 5th birthday. She is doing well. She is still trying to learn to eat, as she was tube fed since birth. She has a long journey, but the kid is amazing and FortWorthMike attributes it to the miracle of our prayers finding her a donor. The bad news is, his MIL suffered a fall several months back. He got her through the broken bones, but they found cancer. She has been through chemo and radiation. As she is 87, it took a lot out of her. She could use prayers for strength and healing. 3/2 – Vmom posted and asked for prayers for her pup, who had emergency surgery a couple of weeks ago. He popped a couple of stitches and has to wear the cone for a few more weeks. Also, her husband is having issues recovering from Covid. 3/2 – Artruen asked for prayers for his sister. Her son “Mick” was killed on his motorcycle a few weeks ago on his way to church. Mick was a good man: a proud US Marine (three tours in hot zones), proud American, proud Texan, proud father of two beautiful children. He lived hard and fast and is greatly missed. 3/2 – Fox2! Asked for prayers for Margaret K (to overcome alcoholism), Brooke V (to watch over her, a young woman from a broken family), Janet K (to guide and watch over her and her family). 3/3 – Commissar of Plenty and Lysenkoism in Solidarity with the Struggle to maintain Moron standards asked for prayers as he is scared to death of some much-needed surgery. Pain, healing, iyiyi! Even the red tape involved in scheduling. Thank you all again!
3/18 Update – The surgery is scheduled for 4/5. 3/9 – Jim (in Kalifornia) posted that his father-in-law passed away. 3/9 – Mindful webworker posted that his beloved wife (MiladyJo) will be having a second hip replacement. Prayers that this one also goes well, and ends years of terrible pain.
3/16 Update – MiladyJo now has matching titanium hips and is home, scooting around and recovering. As for Mindful webworker’s health status, he is still waiting to hear when they can go back in to work on his guts and possibly fix him up. 3/9 – Cybersmythe had a job interview. It went well, but he is asking for prayers that it went well enough.
3/16 Update – The job went to someone else who already had experience programming the equipment. He said after last week’s conversation and some reflection, he decided he should hope for guidance to the right position and the wisdom to recognize it when it appears. 3/9 – RedMindBlueState asked for prayers for her dear friend who miscarried Wednesday. Again. 3/9 – Halfhand asks for prayers and support for her dear friend and former neighbor, Kathleen, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has undergone a double mastectomy and is healing well. She starts radiation in March and the first reconstruction surgery in April. 3/9 – Emmie sends her thanks to the Horde for their prayers on behalf of Mr. Bassman as he recovers from knee replacement. He’s doing great! He is dedicated to his PT routines. 3/9 – Hadrian the Seventh asked for prayers for Her Majesty, who is having knee replacement surgery. He’d like prayers for a successful operation, but also an uneventful recovery. Her previous surgery in 2019 (on the other knee) was marked by great pain and the effect of the medication was terrible. 3/9 – Piper sent news about her daughter and her eye issue. Her doctor said the MRI results were everything they hoped for, that he knew the radiologist and trusts the reading. At this point, they will wait 6 months and then check again. But he said they should celebrate – doctor’s orders! 3/9 – Dr_No asked for prayers for his daughter, Megan. We had prayed for her in 2021, when she had cancer. Her cancer is still in remission, but she has blood clots in her lungs. She went to the local ER, where they said everything was normal. She sent a message to her PCP, to ask her to review the situation. She is still weak, and gets tired if a conversation lasts more than 1-2 sentences. Please pray that she be restored to full health. Thanks once again to the Horde for the help. 3/14 – Tonypete requests prayers for the family of their borrowed grandbaby. His Mom and Dad are in the final stages of adoption of two brothers – 18 months and 2 years old. The boys have been in foster care since birth. Prayers are requested for a speedy conclusion to the process. Also prayers for the boys’ mother – 28 years old, nine children all by different fathers, and all have been removed from her home by CPS. 3/16 – Moron Robbie asked for prayers for an older buddy, who has been generally unhealth for a while now and just got over the flu, but now has pneumonia. 3/16 PaleRider asked for prayers for wisdom and serenity for himself and his siblings. His father died on 3/15. Dad had been slowly fading away for 1.5 years, so it was not a big shock. He thinks that settling the estate will go smoothly, but prayers are welcome. 3/16 – Winston, GOPe, McFailure wing of the Uniparty humbly asks for prayers for friends of friends who are stuck in Haiti with their two adopted children and four foundlings that have been in their family for several years. These are good, God-fearing Christians who have lived and taught and built homes there, as well as cared for orphans. Of course, being Christians, they are at the bottom of the list for extraction. 3/20 – Inogame sent an update. We had prayed for him and his wife when they had trouble conceiving. On 3/19, about 8:30 pm, his wife went into labor… and before 10 pm she gave birth to a little girl in their bathroom, with a midwife on the phone assuring Inogame he wouldn’t drop the baby. He didn’t and Mom and baby are doing well, and prayers for their health are appreciated. In an unrelated prayer request, Inogame asks for prayers for a good friend from childhood who is struggling with addiction. He checked into an in-patient facility for 30 days to save his job and hopefully his life. He is lost and needs help to find his way. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

My niece is in the hospital again for the second time in a week. She was diagnosed with pneumonia the first time but she still felt awful after getting home. She went back to ER yesterday and they admitted her again. Her oxygen level was 76. This is the niece that is fighting cervical cancer. Prayers appreciated.

Well, I don't like to start the meetin' by arguing with our host's opening poster, but I do prefer a moderate (small to some) cup. My daily mug holds a measured cup. By the time I get to the bottom, the coffee's still hot. And the pot is nearby, so refills are easy. Now, if you add up all the morning's cups, that is a good size.

Was just looking at pictures of a large solar farm near Needville, Texas. (Houston Area) Huge installation, thousands of panels. There have been heavy hailstorms across Texas this week; one hit the Needville installation and it looks like every single panel is smashed.
so that's solar - one bad storm and the entire installation has to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch.

Also, a late addition to the list: Prayers needed for my buddy Cheri. She fell when she missed a step on a sidewalk and broke her elbow and arm so badly that the bone crushers had to install a titanium elbow joint along with other hardware to reduce her fractures of her ulna and radius. She's a mess.

Tried a jar of Folger's this week for my daily coffee. I do not care for it. I rate it as 'meh'. I think my tastebuds have been spoiled by dark roasts and espressos.

Wild speculation but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find some American 3-letter agency with its fingerprints all over the Russian terror attack.

On 3/19, about 8:30 pm, his wife went into labor… and before 10 pm she gave birth to a little girl in their bathroom, with a midwife on the phone assuring Inogame he wouldn’t drop the baby. He didn’t and Mom and baby are doing well, and prayers for their health are appreciated.

Amen. We are going through a similar situation with our daughter and her kids. It was really rough for a while, but it has calmed down a bit. She finally got divorced, and had to move in with us, which was really bad for a while.
But God's grace is always at work, and we've taken the kiddos to Mass a couple of times (and will take them next week), so there's hope that their mother will return to the Church as well. We've enrolled the elder in Catholic preschool for the fall, which I'm sure she will enjoy.
In fact, the idea of playing on the playground (which she has seen) was what motivated her to get serious about potty training.

We currently have a puppet emperor with various factions fighting to pull the strings. Honorius comes to mind - his generals did all the work, and on his watch the Western Empire started into its death spiral because he couldn't secure the borders.

The stations will be officially dedicated on Good Friday and we will have the last Stations in a group until next Easter season.

I think California has several of those.
The big picture is that the elites fail to understand that Americans comply with laws because they believe them to be necessary and useful, not out of fear. When you replace that unconscious, reflexive consent, you need lots of enforce compliance, and our government simply does not have that.
Yet they think they do, because they've gotten away with so much so far. What they fail to understand is that there is a hard stop, a point where people have had enough, and thats where revolutions start.

Awesome! We just got a belt of snow, which is great because this has been an almost snow-free winter. My grandkids will be thrilled.
This Lent I decided to increase my prayer by going to one daily Mass each week, usually the one on Thursday morning. The parish school kids go to it, and I just love watching them and hearing them belt out the tunes. Reminds me of when our kids were in Catholic school. I'm planning on paying for the grandkids to go there. Public schools here are a joke.

Alas, both proved totally inept. Arcadius had a better strategic position and better advisors (also a really big wall built by Daddy).

I am not sure that I would call anything after Adrianople in the west as 'stable and healthy.' Of course, one can argue that the run up and battle just exposed a lot of the rot.
On the other hand, I am not sure I would call anything after Diocletian as healthy, since he essentially sewed the seeds of feudal serfdom and tyranny (as well as reaction to his policies doing the same.)

I am living the axiom that the wheels of justice grind slowly. I'm not so sure about the 'exceedingly fine' part of that saying, but they do grind. The difference between dead still and glacial is hard to detect.
Nevertheless, the state investigators are making headway in trying to rebuild a non-existent sheriff's 15-year-old case file and are now calling Missus M's pop's case a homicide rather than a missing person. The level of intensity is ratcheted up accordingly. Digging weather is fast approaching.

Prayers for all. My BIL, who had the cancerous mass on his spine, came home on Thursday after nearly 8 weeks in the hospital. He is walking with a walker and making significant progress. The battle plan is to start cancer treatments in mid April. Thank you all for your prayers.

This demonstrates that the GOP is controlled opposition. With a House majority, the GOP could simply have refused omnibus bills, and gone back to regular order, which worked for 200+ years.
Omnibus bills exist solely to hide spending from voters, and the "tell" was when Paul Ryan, who had a neat power point about balancing the budget, played right along when he got the big chair.

This demonstrates that the GOP is controlled opposition. With a House majority, the GOP could simply have refused omnibus bills, and gone back to regular order, which worked for 200+ years.
Omnibus bills exist solely to hide spending from voters, and the "tell" was when Paul Ryan, who had a neat power point about balancing the budget, played right along when he got the big chair.

The CIA could also be somewhere in the mix for Gawd only knows what reason. It also could have been a Ukrainian wanting to topple Z man to bring on the end of the war.

Wanted to recommend for the Christians here, a most excellent movie, "The Most Reluctant Convert" the untold life of C.S. Lewis. It came out as a movie a number of years ago, but now you can get it on DVD or probably streaming somewhere. It was taken from a one many show by Max McClean but this, of course, has actors playing other people and is set in Lewis's boyhood home, during WWI and at Oxford.

I also need prayers once again-for our dear "retired" organist, Jessie. I saw her yesterday at her daughter's home and brought communion. She had a taken a fall, nothing was broken, but this is a setback for her and she's in pain and her experience in the hospital was less than optimal..

I don't think Rome has much relevance today. Well except maybe the part where Rome spent the entire 3rd and 4th centuries importing barbarians to do all of their work and fill out all of their armies, and then were surprised at how it all turned out. Maybe that might be a little bit relevant to today.

A lot of the rulers think that political violence is impossible. The three-letter folks with computers will solve everything.
This, more than anything else, convinces me that the "extremist attacks" were conducted with official approval. If you're really scared about violence, you fire people at FBI, CIA, etc. who let it happen. When no one is fired, that shows the leadership doesn't regard it as a problem.

I agree, and found that most excellent. As you say, it's basically a one man play put on film, and it is a wonderful portrayal of CS Lewis, in his own words. The portrayal of Lewis's father gives quite a bit of insight into his own thinking. I think they had a difficult, but typically British relationship.

The Russians thwarted a terrorist attack against a synagogue recently. Terrorists probably decided to target a less protected venue.

I am going to recommend the movie to a friend of mine. He's an Anglophile and looks a little like C.S. Lewis. He might not appreciate the religious aspects because he thinks Jesus was simply a great teacher, but this man-like Lewis didn't like going to an all boy's school and like this person I know he also studied the Classics.

There's a theory floating around that I tend to agree with at least in part that what we are seeing playing out in Ukraine and Russia is really all about control of oil and gas from the region. As much as the whack jobs hate oil and gas they drive the world and it shouldn't be a huge surprise that recent wars center around places like Iraq, Iran, Ukraine and Russia.

Brahms moved in with the Shumans when Robert was ill (Schumann probably was bipolar) and there seems to be some question as to whether they actually had a physical affair although they wrote letters to each other. Being Victorians I doubt they had an affair but they certainly felt strongly about each other.

With $9.96 million in spending money, the RNC had less than half the $21.35 million it reported in 2016, after Donald Trump won the presidential election.
But despite this, the FEC disclosures revealed that since October 21, 2022, the committee spent $256,635 on limousine cars as travel expenses.

In 32 transactions to different branches of the Four Seasons Hotel, the RNC spent $622,204.93 on travel expenses, venue hire and catering, fundraiser supplies and parking. It also spent thousands of dollars at other hotels including Marriot Hotels and Hilton Hotels, with one Marriot Hotel transaction amounting to $659,848.52.
It spent $75,000 to rent the Ritz Carlton in Dallas, Texas, in October. The amount also involved catering charges. . . Meanwhile, Van Laar's analysis also showed the RNC spent more than $70,000 on floral arrangements since October 2022 and almost $9,000 in dry cleaning. It comes amid the committee dealing with wider financial issues. During Donald Trump's presidency, the RNC's finances increased. . .

I'm not a huge fan of Trump (or any politician for that matter), but a lot of the carping about him not getting as much done looks pretty feeble these days. I mean, literally everyone around him was on the take. The whole GOP leadership, the legislators, everyone in DC was as corrupt as could be.

I don't know about the Russian Orthodox in Church in Russia, but I have read a number of Russian Orthodox mystics and monks and attended an Orthodox Church and they are very devout, so whether it's a veneer I expects it depends on the individual people
