Inevitable: National Review Runs Pro-Riot Article Submitted by Leftwing Agitprop Organization

Some of us predicted the National Review would run a "Two cheers for antifa rioting" article.

But we weren't really predicting that -- we were darkly, archly suggesting that that was within the realm of possibliity.

Barely.

Well, we should have put money on the actual prediction coming to pass.

Because National Review is now officially an antifa organization.

This was written by someone from the (William) Brennan Center for Justice, a leftwing agitprop organization.

Did someone from that organization just submit it to National Review, wondering if was now so firmly on the left it would be published?

Or did an editor from National Review reach out to a leftwinger from the Brennan Center and commission the piece?

This is being shared around on all the c*cked-out listservs. They love it.

America Begins to See More Clearly Now What Its Black Citizens Always Knew

...

Calls for justice rang from all corners, and many of them soon developed into demonstrations decrying the disparate treatment of black Americans by law enforcement. Some of these have broken into riots, devolved into looting, and spiraled into violent confrontations with heavily armed police forces.

Note the suggestiong here that the people attacking the cops are the Davids, and the "heavily armed police officers" are the Goliaths.

But the police are refraining from attacking the rioters -- while the rioters hurl dead bricks and bottles at their heads.

Bricks pre-positioned in piles by the logistics corps of this insurrectionist army.

National Review is now supporting attacks on the police, and insurrection against America.

But the overwhelming majority have been civil exercises of the First Amendment rights to assemble peaceably and to speak freely about the effects of racism on our liberty and society.

The overwhelming majority of cops do not (accidentally) kill black men while restraining them. Should we focus on those non-criminal, non-controversial events, too?

No?

You say you want to focus on the death of George Floyd rather than the literally millions of peaceful police interactions with the public that take place every year?

Why? Because while it's a rare event, it's a shocking event that tells us something important?

Then let me ask you: Why is it that you insist that we must not look at the arson, rioting, mayhem, vicious pack-animal assaults, and targeted assassinations of police, and instead look at the mundane non-criminal protests?

Weird -- every year a hundred natural gas plants in the US do not explode.

But when one explodes spectacularly -- of course that's the one that makes the news.

Why can't they focus on all the non-exploding natural gas plants?

Predictably, rather than take on the exceptionally difficult task of a national self-assessment, some politicians and media directed public attention to the most egregious actions during protest rather than to the aims of the protest.

Ah yes, Eric Holder's "Americans are cowards about race."

In other words, some media -- conservative media -- chose to report the truth, that there was widespread rioting, arson, looting, and assassination of police, rather than cover it up in order to serve the propaganda aims of Black Lives Matter.

That, this person from the leftwing (William) Brennan Center for Justice postulates is counter-revolutionary and therefore forbidden.

The brew of militarized police, enraged citizens, and criminal looters -- bursting into scenes of chaos backlit by burning cars and flashbangs -- is a powerful elixir.

An elixir like liquor -- gives you a brief high, but it's just excitement in a shotglass. Not real.

Sensational images and impassioned appeals to stop the violence flooded traditional and social-media outlets, broadcasting the destruction and airing competing ideas about how to restore order.

I'm sorry, are "appeals to stop violence" objectionable?

Who the fuck commissioned this article? I think this person should make his responsibility for pro-riot propaganda known, instead of hiding behind the vagueness of a masthead.

Does National Review believe that the poor dupes still donating to it are donating to it to pay for apologias for rioting and murder and insurrection? Or, perhaps: Are they right about this? Have they tacked so far left that their former conservative readership has entirely abandoned them and they now serve the same niche as the leftwing rags like The New Republic?

...

And, as usually happens when racial tensions reach fever pitch, Martin Luther King Jr. becomes the referential totem. In explaining the anger that boils over into destruction, we are reminded of his statement that "a riot is the language of the unheard."

Rioting is just a form of speech, man.

Others note that the principal order of business should be to restore order, echoing another King quote from the same speech: "I will always continue to say that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating."

As the protests continue across the United States, we risk finding ourselves lost in the same pattern of unproductive behaviors that have long plagued the country. An obsession with modes of racial protests rather than with the meaning of them belies an unwillingness to face the flaws they expose in the nation's ability to live up to its ideals and fulfill its obligations to the citizenry.

He's trying to obscure his meaning. What he means is: We're focusing on the fact that antifa and BLM and "protesters" are using violence, riots, arson, looting, and targeted assassination to advance their list of demands, instead of paying attention only to their demands.

How much mind should I pay to a terrorist force's demands? National Review, when it was a conservative publication, used to advise, "Pay very little attention to a terrorist force's demands."

Now, of course, it advocates a different course.

Public order and the rule of law are elemental to the well-being of liberal democracies, but the values on which our republic is founded are far more important than any material loss from protest.

Again, he's obscuring his meaning deliberately. His meaning, put plainly, is this: "Riots, arson, looting, wholesale destruction of property, vicious beatings that result in death or serious permanent brain damage, and targeted assassination of police are important, but much more important are the 'values' that the 'protesters' are using riots, murder, arson, etc. to advance."

This is your National Review, people.

After all, nearly 250 years after Massachusetts colonists destroyed private property by dumping the contents of a British East India Company shipment into the Boston Harbor, no one gives a damn about the tea. However, the principle that inspired that protest -- "no taxation without representation" -- endures.

This is exactly like the Boston Tea Party -- an action that resulted in no deaths and no permanent property losses, just the loss of a ship's load of tea.

Oh, one more thing: the Boston Tea Party was not just a "protest." It was a deliberate provocation and preparation for separation from the King's rule, possibly involving violent revolt to come.

Is this what this guy is saying the riots and looters are all about, a preparatory step towards violent revolution?

If so, why should we treat them any better than we would treat a right-wing "Boogaloo" effort at violent insurrection?

Just because they're leftwing and the left has conditioned us to always accept that the left gets to play by different rules?

Below, some images from the "Minneapolis Tea Party."

The Cucked-Out Second-Rate Writers at The National Review

We finally figured out that The Atlantic was never, ever going to hire us, so we've decided to convert a formerly conservative magazine into a liberal one just like The Atlantic, except of lower quality and greatly lower prestige.

Keep those donations coming, suckers!

I notice this similarity between National Review and the NeverTrump #Resistance within government:

If you believe that you cannot serve a government or execute a policy ethically, the honorable course of action is to make your objections known to your superior in a bid to get him to change his mind, and, if that does not availl, resign.

But the #Resistance types have not done that, of course. They have consistently taken the dishonorable course of pretending to serve the president while actually actively subverting him and attempting to drum up new special counsel investigations.

They continue to #Occupy government positions in order to subvert that government.

It is very clear to me that most of the paid allegedly professional, allegedly conservative media long ago decided that they could not ethically advocate for the right or conservatives any longer.

Many of them now refer to "the Right" or "conservatives" as third parties. Not "we conservatives," but "those conservatives."

Often, their references to the right are contemptuous.

Yet they keep their jobs with the despised right.

Rather than resign their posts and seek employment in leftleaning institutions they are plainly more aligned with, they have joined their #Resistance government friends in the dishonorable strategem of continuing to #Occupy positions which are intended for actual conservatives, in order to subvert the conservative movement and lead it astray.

Also, let's face it: they're only marginally employable and while they would no doubt prefer to be working for non-Deplorable leftwing outlets, they're just not going to get those jobs.

So they'll write Daily Beast articles under the aegis of the National Review.

They need money. And grifters, you know, are gonna grift.

Please, please, please: I really need more red-faced lectures from you lot about honor, and principles, and integrity.

"...we do live in a country where there is no political oppression, there is no mass arrests, there is no concentration camps of the kind they had in the Soviet Union or in Nazi Germany. And yet people clearly are scared. There are people who are scared of being attacked by Trump, of being made a fool of in his tweets. There are people who are afraid of losing their senate seats, of being challenged by pro-Trump alternatives. And if you think about it there is a social aspect too: there are people who are scared of losing their donors, or losing their friends, or being invited to the same parties they've been invited to before. So there is kind of a peer-pressure and a fear of speaking out. And again, we've seen it in some of our most prominent and you would think our most confident political leaders."

They're going to need to experience it first hand, and then experience the lies of the media and celebrities and their own elected officials, contradicting what they saw.

You can't reason people out of something that they weren't reasoned into. The vast swath of humankind are emotionally driven reactionary animals, so they aren't going to respond to appeals for reason. They have to experience emotion that takes them in the other direction. Real fear of loss. Real loss and grief. First hand experience of the double standard and the lies.

Otherwise, the gaslighting will continue to work, and they'll kneel, like they always do.

HOWEVER, even when he did own it, he barely did work on it. He has three editors covering the rag on three shifts a day.

Also, if he sold it, he'd be required, by contract, to deny he sold it. The name Drudge has cachet. It shouldn't, but it does. If word got out that the Drudge Report was actually the Internet Rando Report, whoever bought it would find his investment's value quickly cut in half.

My guess is that Drudge may have sold it, but the terms of the contract specified he'd remain as a "consultant," and that he is not to admit it has been sold.

Or: He's just a lefty. You know, there never was much evidence that Drudge was on the right. He was mostly a rabble-rouser and gossip. It was just that the media tended to suppress stories that hurt Democrats, which meant that Drudge could get traffic by reporting those.

He had a tv show on fox, briefly, that established two things: 1, he is not a broadcaster and should not be on tv or the radio , and 2, he is not any kind of conservative, more of a generally-paranoid contrarian.

Informal, no name, no uniforms, no camps.

Communications are informal and not full of "we have to be read to overthrow the government!" crap. And most importantly: a system of being able to contact each other without using cell phones or the internet.

160 The consensus is that Drudge hasn't been running Drudge for quite some time now.

Drudge denies it has been sold.

HOWEVER, even when he did own it, he barely did work on it. He has three editors covering the rag on three shifts a day.

Also, if he sold it, he'd be required, by contract, to deny he sold
it. The name Drudge has cachet. It shouldn't, but it does. If word got
out that the Drudge Report was actually the Internet Rando Report,
whoever bought it would find his investment's value quickly cut in half.

My guess is that Drudge may have sold it, but the terms of the
contract specified he'd remain as a "consultant," and that he is not to
admit it has been sold.

Or: He's just a lefty. You know, there never was much evidence that
Drudge was on the right. He was mostly a rabble-rouser and gossip. It
was just that the media tended to suppress stories that hurt Democrats,
which meant that Drudge could get traffic by reporting those.

He had a tv show on fox, briefly, that established two things: 1, he
is not a broadcaster and should not be on tv or the radio , and 2, he
is not any kind of conservative, more of a generally-paranoid
contrarian.

And if you dare speak the truth, you're somehow still a racisty racist who deserves whatever you get, up to and including killed by some rampaging mob for the crime of driving your car.

What "disparate treatment"? The disparate treatment where cops in the U.S. kill white suspects at a higher rate than they kill black suspects, according to FBI crime statistics? That disparate treatment?

Why do we never, ever get to talk about the hugely disparate rate of violent crime committed by blacks in America? Blacks are 13% of the total population, but they commit 53% of all the murders. And they are also significantly over-represented in every other category of violent crime (e.g., assaults, rapes, etc.).

But we aren't supposed to notice those disparities, because paying attention to any facts that contradict the approved lefty narrative is now raaaaaacist.

227 "... demonstrations decrying the disparate treatment of black Americans by law enforcement."

Disparate treatment, and "Disparate Impact" are directly correlated ti disparate actions ... blacks commit more crimes. (The false idea that blacks are treated worse for the same crime has been dis-proven with the stats) When "driving while black" was a meme, a study with cameras showed that blacks got more speeding tickets, because they were speeding more.

But the Disparate Impact Law (?) was pushed by Holder, that even if blacks commit more crime, they can not be arrested/convicted more, because that is not fair, it is "disparate". This is absurd ... not equal justice, not social justice. (I'm not sure if that is actual law, or if it has been challenged in court ... I vaguely recall it being used in Portland maybe ... was Holder's thing when he was taking over police departments for alleged racism)

Before, cries of racism fell on deaf ears because it was overused. Now, combine racism with the cancel culture (mob attacks on cooperations) and they become incredibly effective. The corporation becomes scared to death of lost profits they will do anything to appease the accusers.

And it's affects you because you cannot post any opposing viewpoint on something like Facebook because the mob points out your posts to the place you work and you're fired.

So they got your silence without firing a shot.

No opposing viewpoints means they can do what they want.

That's the most powerful political tool in history.

242 OK, so I read the article. It's not nearly as bad as I thought.

I spoke to an AA friend over the weekend - a very good guy, very reasonable - and I expressed my disgust with the riots and the fact that no one cares about black lives until they are taken by white people.

He listened very patiently, and then he explained that it is inescapable that the reaction of AAs will be intertwined with their history and experiences. And he raised many of the points this guy did, which I think were reasonable and we should consider. It is impossible for white people or an African raised in Africa like me to understand the black American experience.

And I do believe black men, especially, are often treated differently by police. Senator Tim Scott, who is all on the Trump train, has described how he has been stopped by security while trying to enter the Senate buildings. Of course we can discuss the reasons why (e.g., the plain fact of higher black male crime, actual prejudice, defiant attitude towards the police, whatever), but the fact still remains.

Where I strongly disagree is that the riots and looting are anything but an expression of getting off on chaos and greed. I don't believe any of the rioters and looters gives a rats behind about Floyd. If not, they would have stuck to destruction of police and government properties. Instead, they have killed and nearly destroyed the lives of a multitude of black people (who apparently don't matter), while generally not causing trouble in tony white neighbourhoods. And don't get me started on BLM.

The riots are being instigated by agitators. Maybe they didn't start that way at the very beginning, but the agitators have stepped in and are causing the chaos they relish.

There is also paranoid inducing propaganda going around. A lot of black people are scared because of boogeymen created by, e.g., the media. You would never know that anyone other than black people are killed or manhandled by the police if you just relied on what the media is feeding people. So a lot of people are living in a paranoid world that is at odds with reality, and that is a huge problem.

Everyone was on board that Chauvin should be punished. We may have been able to have a decent conversation to try to understand the issues a lot of black people have with the authorities, hearing from all sides and all races. But no, Chauvin's death was just used as a tool to cause chaos.

So no, I won't take the riots and looting seriously or as symbolic of anything except basest human behavior.

Drudge was on the right. He was mostly a rabble-rouser and gossip. It
was just that the media tended to suppress stories that hurt Democrats,

I think he started the left turn long before Trump was in office. It's just that he was always in opposition of whatever was happening, so we assumed hating Obama was the same as being on our side. He slammed W fairly often IIRC. With Trump however, I think it's more personal. Maybe he things he should get more credit for getting him in.

262 Altho Blacks aren't being killed in greater numbers than whites, It seems they're targetted as they do get a lot of attention from the police.

And that's because of statistics. A cop looking for a bust to make himself look good to the supervisors knows that all he has to do is stop enough black males and he's going to probably come up with something before too long.

Yeah it's racial profiling and it's supposed to be illegal but it's just human nature to play the odds.

No one wants to point out that if Blacks had a crime rate like the white boys do that they might see a little less attention being paid to their activities.

Also there's a lot of resentment towards the cops because of this. I understand. Still they get that attitude and cops are aggressive ego driven guys in the first place so they take it as a challenge to their authority and come right back at them and it escalates from there into a beat down or a deadly shooting.

Personally, I think they took Cops down because it reminds everyone how often Blacks are at the center of trouble and that when stopped they become aggressive abusive and generally have a gigantic chip on their shoulder.

Now that chip surely might be there with good reason but still it serve No One any good. Yet they still persist.

And with the new militarization of the police, white guys aren't being left out. They get a lot of abuse too. But they do have the stats on their side and the cop pretty much knows they're not going to be holding or doing something they can get a good bust out of so if the White boy keeps his cool and plays possum he'll be on his way if he can keep his male ego in check.

Me I've always made it a habit to not argue or get snide with guys carrying firearms.

From a strong and principled conservative beginning in the 1950s somehow, somewhere William F. Buckley lost his way. It may have been in his seeking of celebrity, or seeking approval from the dominant liberal culture. I don't know. What I do know is that toward the end the man was lost. People sometimes are blinded by their desire to fit in. They mostly come from or now live in urban areas. Urban culture in America is rotten...and some people just won't admit it. Also, the Universities, especially the "prestigious" ones are just as rotten, but their is loyalty to that "educated" class is powerful.

They would rather hang out in New York City with a raving communist who graduated from Harvard then defend the rights of those in flyover country.

I really feel like I am living in bizzaro world these days. The fact that a cop kills someone unjustly does not mean the homicide victim was an upstanding person.

When innocent black people trying to make something of their lives die going about their business because they are caught in the crossfire of gunfights, no one cares. When that young girl that sang at one of Obama's 2nd inauguration parties was soon after shot, I think in a drive by shooting, NO ONE CARED.

When black people have been killed by rioters and had their communities and properties and businesses destroyed and medication stolen during these riots, NO ONE CARES.

So give me a break with BLM.

360 I agree. And it would be best if we all took more time off from the screen and especially social media. But my hope is that we can leverage the 70+% of people in America who claim to be Christians into just shutting down social media one day a week, to in a gentle, passive way remind silicon valley where the muscle actually is in the country.

I've never had a Twatter, Instagram or any other "social media" account. FacistBook is only for friends and I've unfriended a lot of my musician buddies so I won't have to see their imbecilic political posts. I just shut off my Gab account because somebody hacked it and put up an image of an NPC.

I watch very little TV and sure won't now that NASCAR has gone full Commie retard over the Stars and Bars. Even then, the advertisements have become unbearable and I always record something so I can FF through the commercials. If it's live, I mute them. EweTewb is only for TuCa, TimCast, guitar instruction videos and Fusion 360 lessons. That's it.

We have to realize that it's time to kill our screens if we're going to stay even halfway sane.

371 National Review opposes only terrorism that can spark a war-for-bucks. Domestic terrorism doesn't fill the investment coffers of the blue-haired, empty-headed heiresses who continue to throw a few bucks their way. So that's totes OK.

Related: the military continues to threaten to cast its lot with the communist terrorists. Isn't it time for the perfect National Review president, W, to pop up and tell us we have to fight them over here (meaning anti-communists) so we don't have to fight them over there?

A few discernably conservative or at least moderate writers remain at National Review, Victor Davis Hanson among them. If they continue to contribute to that shit rag and accept a paycheck from it, they, too are tarnished. They need to resign very, very noisily.

"...we do live in a country where there is no political oppression,
there is no mass arrests, there is no concentration camps of the kind
they had in the Soviet Union or in Nazi Germany. And yet people clearly
are scared. There are people who are scared of being attacked by Trump,
of being made a fool of in his tweets. There are people who are afraid
of losing their senate seats, of being challenged by pro-Trump
alternatives. And if you think about it there is a social aspect too:
there are people who are scared of losing their donors, or losing their
friends, or being invited to the same parties they've been invited to
before. So there is kind of a peer-pressure and a fear of speaking out.
And again, we've seen it in some of our most prominent and you would
think our most confident political leaders."

429 242: It is impossible for white people or an African raised in Africa like me to understand the black American experience.

THIS is the "black experience" in America - gaslighting and bullshit. No one "understands" it because its divorced from reality.

Perpetual victimization - "Black Victimology" being a greater crippling societal ill than anything else because it eliminates self-sufficiency and responsibility (gee, why would the left support that?). The "Defining element of tragedy" - whole races trying to define themselves by past injustices they didn't experience, punishing current lives who didn't perpetrate the injustice. This is like Bruce Wayne's great-great-great grandkids dressing in leather bat costumes and beating criminals cause their great-great-great grandparents then didn't know and never met were shot in an alley 100 years ago. They didn't see it, they ain't traumatized by it unless someone intentionally traumatized them, and if so, to what end?

Blacks get treated differently by cops? For Gawd's sake, The Reverend Jackshun himself said he crosses the street when young black men walk behind him. When does he get cancelled for that badthink?

Not a single black person living today was an American slave. Most that lived through the 40's to 60's are dead or one foot in the grave. Black culture, more than any other, has influenced US society in the last 30 years. Racist concepts like "white privilege" are taught in school to cover for the resulting white identity politics caused by leftist identity politics over the last 60 years. Use of terms or race neutral concepts from 5 years ago are now cause for termination and public shaming. Businesses are giving blacks preferences in products and services over other races. Multi-million dollar football players insult their paying audiences by claiming they are oppressed. And whites have a "privilege"?

Race is always going to be an issue, but our prior social contract was not to use it to benefit or burden someone. Race neutrality. Now, its being used to benefit blacks at the expense of whites (and everyone else). If race based identity politics is the New Rule, others are going to use that Rule to benefit THEIR identity (and they'd be insane not to) and its not going to end well.

Only a superficial benefit to black people, probably to placate the masses. The assumption behind "benefits" is that blacks are incapable of achieving what others are (basically, blackness is a genetic defect is how I put it), so they'll throw a few these inferior creatures some bones, while trying making sure to keep the rest down and incapable of progressing on their own by lowering standards across the board, not raising expectations for them (e.g., you need to change your culture), and instituting ruinous policies.

This way, they maintain a black underclass that will always be useful for political purposes.

"How dare people expect their Republican representatives to support the President and hold them accountable when they don't. The. Nerve."

It's the same nonsense as the 80% of sexual assaults go unreported. It lets them hypothesize on any percentage they want with no accountability.

There's a secret cabal of Republicans who hate Trump and would oppose him. (Which is a shame, because that sort of spinelessness would make one heck of a Democrat politician.) If only they didn't have to live in fear and could speak their truth.

No self-sufficiency, no growth, no personal responsibility. Free checks, until the money runs out. Blame X, until X is dead and gone, then blame who exactly? Problem is we didn't know for sure just exactly how insane the Dems were. I hated the idea of Hillary as President and fully expected some really stupid and dangerous stuff to happen but I wasn't afraid for my country and my life.

Now it's a different story. If a Dem gets elected (and the betting is that Biden wins, the Senate Goes Dem and the House stays dem) I for one will be afraid for my life and just waiting to find out what form it will take and whether to just surrender right off or struggle and put it off a few days/weeks.

We KNOW they will enact draconian 2A suppression laws. We KNOW they will create chaos and confusion in the health care system. We KNOW they will secure the Supreme court balance and perhaps flip it.We KNOW that all sorts of bad Democrat/left programs will be put into play.We KNOW there may be actual fighting between left and right.

And on and on. People will be having to make life changing decisions constantly and the DOW will tank and the economy will be in the sewer. And if the past is any indication one or more of our enemies will decide now is the time to make a move.

The Tulsa riots started after a black man named Rowland got into an elevator with a young white female elevator operator named Sarah Page. It wasn't clear what happened between them, but apparently she screamed, he fled, she (or an onlooker) called the cops, and he was arrested and jailed.

A media report the next day claimed there had been a sexual assault. The cops were protecting Rowland in the jail at first, but the local blacks were worried that he would be lynched, because that had happened to another black guy recently. He had been accused of killing a taxi driver, and some whites had come to the jail and taken him out, and apparently the cops had let it happen.

Rumors were running rampant, and blacks showed up at the courthouse to protect Rowland, then whites showed up, and pretty soon the groups were shooting at each other and when the blacks started retreating back to their Greenwood neighborhood, the whites followed them and that's when most of the mayhem occurred.

After the riots, Rowland was cleared by the cops. They said that he had stumbled or fallen into Page, grabbed her arm or stepped on her foot. He was released from jail and left Tulsa.

So basically, another example of the media not waiting for facts, reporting speculation and rumor as fact, and causing all sorts of trouble. Much like they do now.

Yes. Their violence and destruction are speech.

And in contrast, I learned at work yesterday that if I am silent about America's blood illness of racism, I am exercising *betrayal* of my fellow man.

554 Who are our enemies? Who are our friends? This is a question of the first importance for the revolution. The basic reason why all previous revolutionary struggles in China achieved so little was their failure to unite with real friends in order to attack real enemies. A revolutionary party is the guide of the masses, and no revolution ever succeeds when the revolutionary party leads them astray. To ensure that we will definitely achieve success in our revolution and will not lead the masses astray, we must pay attention to uniting with our real friends in order to attack our real enemies. To distinguish real friends from real enemies, we must make a general analysis of the economic status of the various classes in Chinese society and of their respective attitudes towards the revolution.

I'm not a purity person (I'm comfortable with views divergent from mine) but I'm not going to read for example, the Bulwark or the dispatch or whatever.

Believe it or not, I've seen some NeverTrumpers make some good points even recently, but I'm not going to take time to follow them when there are others I think are much more insightful even if I don't agree 100%. Especially since, being someone who didn't vote for Trump the last time, it is clear to me that the majority of NT types are not operating in good faith or have had their minds broken by Trump's election.

Posted by: Someguy at June 11, 2020 01:15 PM (zR1US)

561 FWIW,
Trump's dip in the polls correspond with other polling indicating that Americans generally wanted a tougher stance against the rioters. Thus, Trump is more likely being disapproved of by his stronger supporters in the polls--doesn't mean that they won't vote for him in Nov. but they are upset with him over leaving it to states to fix their own mess. I suspect something comparable regarding Covid 19 shutdowns. Red supporters (such as small business owners) in blue states are getting furious and despondent over potential loss of their businesses or harm to the local economy. They want Trump to end this thing.

If I am right, you'll see a rebound fairly sharply if the riots end (which are harming Dems and their constituents) and the shutdowns are beginning to crumble after those pols ignored it for the protests.

Classic example of this was Nixon and Johnson polling in Vietnam War--Antiwar protestors disliked both presidents for continuing the war while arch conservatives disliked both for being too "nice" to the North Vietnamese. Thus, the right and the left united to disapprove of US Vietnam War policy.

Right now, the stock market is going to be a bit frothy because of unpredictable circumstances. So it will go up an down based on whatever headlines are today.

570 476 449 The rally in Tulsa on 6/19 is insane. I am all for an OK rally, but Inhofe (who is up for re-election and will surely be there) lives in Tulsa, was Mayor of Tulsa and knows that Juneteenth is a big deal there. I am flabbergasted that they would make that stupid of a mistake. I know a cop in Tulsa and they've all ready faced some angry mobs throwing rocks and bottles during the BLM protests; this seems like an unnecessary fuel to fire situation.
Posted by: EveR at June 11, 2020 01:00 PM (R0z7P)

I have to agree - I'm in East Texas, in Louie Gohmer's district, and Juneteenth has always been a big deal here, too. Face it, even here that has ALWAYS been a day that white folks just lay low unless you got black friends who want you to come over. If Trump has a WHOLE LOT of black faces on that stage, he might could get away with it.

but this could just be some New Yorkers not being very sensitive or knowledgeable about stuff that goes on out here in flyover land.

I applaud his decision to hold the rally then. It's about time we stop being afraid of being un-PC. I've been tired of it for a long time.

Political correctness is what's driving a large portion of what we're seeing from our enemies. It's tearing this nation apart.

572 > I wish conservatives would vote with their money.

We need fewer conservatives, and more founders. There's not that much left to conserve that isn't grotesquely corrupted, and the right seems afraid to burn down the infested institutions because they aren't confident they can rebuild them. A healthy body destroys virus-infected cells, because it knows how to make more cells to replace them.

My gut feeling is that the right needs to take a guerrilla attitude to all aspects of life right now. Personal face-to-face networks based on trust and compartmentalized, rather than using algorithms managed by the enemy or broad and easily infiltrated groups. Use encrypted, open-source P2P software to assist that, but not to replace it. Learn to code. Abandon the corporate economy for microcapital and small-scale automation, and local spending, focus investment on trusted fellow travelers, for a social rather than just a financial return. Abandon the distractions of consumerism and use the time and money saved for the cause. Eventually convert those informal networks into new, formal institutions, when the circumstances become favorable.

Posted by: Donna&&&&&&&V at June 11, 2020 01:09 PM (HabA/)

you really don't understand, you're not from around here. The center of the Juneteenth celebrations has ALWAYS been East Texas, East Oklahoma, North Louisiana, and I think most of Arkansas. For the first 100 years or so, it was a local, regional thing, but now it's been spreading and people know about it nationally. But it has ALWAYS been Black Folks day, for 150 years, at least around here - and by going to Tulsa, Trump is going into the heart of it. (why not pick Arizona for that date?) For 150 years, that's been the day that Black folks here celebrate, and white folks just kind of lay low, and let them have their fun - NOTHING big is ever scheduled for that date, everyone has always accepted that's how its done, its part of how the races get along down here, you let the others have their space. Unless Trump makes a huge effort to acknowledge that, this one mistake could kiss off every black vote he's been trying to attract, in one big bad boom.

I say this because, except for those here who *are* black, I probably live around and know more black folks than most of the rest of you do, and I mean people I talk to and work around weekly, if not daily. They're not leftists, they don't sympathize with Antifa, but they WILL be pissed off if you stomp on their day.

It looks like "Juneteenth" runs all the way from the 16th through the 21st in Tulsa this year. Are all days that someone just declares off limits, off limits to any other race? Fair enough, although the pastor (Will Davis, Jr) really is a good, Godly man. I think he has a blind spot for how race is exploited, but to the extent our church mobilizes politically, it does so for Biblical purposes (supporting anti-abortion candidates and abortion-alternative support systems).

Most of the message was "no shit, already aware of that" platitudes, or "oh, really? A bad thing happened to you, personally? We want to base our concept of justice on your anecdotal story?", but there were a few moments where the black pastors let the mask slip slightly. The worst for me wasn't even the one I related, it was one of them saying "I had white friends calling me up, asking me to come pray with them after George Floyd, and I said NO, we done prayed and prayed and prayed, God has made clear we're to take ACTION".

Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

I think it's important to understand where people are coming from. But unfortunately, it's almost important to do in this atmosphere where everyone is immediately defensive.

626 Honestly, Juneteenth has been a thing since the 19th century. I know little about it, but it makes sense to respect it (it does mark a very important day). But I don't think all activity should cease either.
Posted by: chique on another computer at June 11, 2020 01:27 PM (9hauA)

Again, I think to say that holding a Trump rally is disrespectful is to buy into the leftist narrative that Trump rallies are racist. He should make it a celebration of the day, invite conservative black speakers.

A Dem president would have no problem holding a rally on Juneteenth and making it all about them - because they're perceived as the "friends" of blacks. Some friends.

Posted by: Donna&&&&&&&V at June 11, 2020 01:33 PM (HabA/)

627 Respect it how, Chique? Respect it by giving in to the narrative that Republicans are racists (and therefore should stay the hell away from black days)?

Screw that noise. It was Democrats who massacred people all over the place after their 1920 National Convention.
Posted by: redbanzai the Southerner at June 11, 2020 01:31 PM (nAiE/)

Nope - I left it unspecified.

My point is that it's an important day and shouldn't be trivialized. But that doesn't mean people should be restricted from doing stuff either.

Someone upthread had a good suggestion that Trump should celebrate it during the rally.

628 Ghost,

You are either a very occasional visitor to AOS or are simply trolling.

Ace has been laying out for the last several years the fact that the so-called conservative media is not conservative at all. They play act for the cameras and the bylines but in actuality support the left and its policy goals.

Some do it arguably for money, some do it because they really are libs that are not good enough to get jobs in the shrinking MSM. Some do it because they are in fact purity spiralists that are more enamored of their own " virtue" than they are in opposing the left.

So, the bought, the liars, and the "true" conservative types in the "conservative" media coalesce with the left in shooting right at their audience and any politician that dares to support the audience rather than listen to the pontifications of the MSM and academia.

I ignore the media for the most part as it upsets the digestion, gives you opinions instead of facts, and demonstrates the mendacity, ignorance, and corruption of their platforms every day.

The sad truth is that corporations are global and basically hate their customers in every nation as they are. Corporations are not conservative and easily penetrable by the left via HR and finance. They hate America and its workers and only see them as something to despoil and waste. Thus, the idea of the WSJ being "conservative" is laughable just as Fox being "conservative". Both are owned by the Murdochs and neither of the sons are "conservatives"--they simply view their consumers as "rubes" that actually believe their shtick.

The people running these global corporations identify what is best for a society as what is best for the corporation--thus the stupidity of invade the world and invite the world. This is where the "conservative" media and a lot of "conservative" politicians began to go off the rails against Trump when he actually instigated any steps to ending these idiotic policies--such as ending US participation in the ME, American centered trading policy, or curbing illegal immigration and getting jobs for Americans.

What they see him doing is demonstrating what they have claimed as impossible which enormous impact on the way of thinking about public policy. This could cost them trillions--so why not do bribe, coerce, and outright purchase opposition on the right to Trump and any other politician favoring America instead of the demands of the global elite.

Yes, it was a direct parody some race-baiting asshole's 'letter' to his kids instructing them to fear cops and whites.

In that case, I take back what I said about being offended if he just wrote it to point out the absurdity of the original article. Because I was offended by it when I thought it was a standalone post, LOL.

I now understand why people are unhappy NR let him go because of that.

I agree it should not be trivialized. Oklahoma is one of only two states where it is a state holiday. BUT at no point should we let Democrats set the narrative.

"but there were a few moments where the black pastors let the mask slip slightly"

And that's just it. There's a mask of hatred, envy, and resentment there. That's not a basis for doctrine.

Blacks or their grievance are not in charge of the church, nor should they be. God is.

There's also no such thing as group culpability or group injury under God's law. You are responsible for the sins you commit.

If I wanted to be a pastor of a church, I would have to study, learn, maintain a testimony, come to the church and be approved. The best way to do that is to work in the church and grow out of it. "You're black, you should be our pastor to make up for past imagined slights." is not a method of selecting a pastor.

This stuff is wrong all around. And you can be sympathetic to a plight without accepting responsibility for correcting it. That's also God's job. We have our commission and it's not "Make people feel better about who they are."

At the end of the day, racism should be 100% a non-issue in the church. You can't look down on someone while you're kneeling and washing each other's feet. And if you've been discriminated against (and I have), it's probably better than you really deserve and your commandment is to forgive them and love them.

634 Coming in late, but Brad Parscale (Trump's campaign manager) mentioned celebrating Juneteenth in a tweet this morning, so Trump knows all about the significance of the date. And all about the Tulsa Massacre in June 1921.

If the MSMDNC is pretending to be upset by this it's because they were planning to exploit the day themselves and now he's gone and scrambled their plans.

As usual, I expect Trump's outreach efforts to the black community will be highly successful. The left expects that too, which is why they're pushing so hard to establish counter-narratives.

Likely outcome: They'll spend every day talking up how racisty-racist and violently dangerous MAGA rallies are. Then people will tune in and see Trump supporters attending a respectful and moving tribute to Black America while mobs of violent white Democrats attack.

It was satire of the format, but from his point of view. He considered it an honest article. Given that, it should still cause you offense. It wasn't written merely for giggles, that is why he got fired, and that is why I stopped reading National Review, except for Mark Steyn - until they fired him, too.

"this seems like an unnecessary fuel to fire situation."

Yes. Let's make sure we schedule all our activities so they don't anger the left. That's why Trump won the last time and was so fairly treated by his opponents.

What next? Trump has to fire all the women in his staff and dump a billion more dollars into Planned Parenthood or the feminists will be mad?

Posted by: squid_hunt at June 11, 2020 01:15 PM

Bingo. This is exactly what I was thinking when I read that.

And this is what separates Donald Trump from everyone else. He takes the risks that no one else will. And that is exactly the kind of person we need to lead this country now.

He is not shying away from issues or taking the PC approach to things.

He does not play prevent defense, he plays aggressive.

And that is why he is President now. Because there was a HUGE percentage of the center-right electorate which has been begging for this type of leadership from the Republican Party for a long time.

Re: media Coverage With Pillow...

I told Lady YD that the Antifa sissies had seized control of several blocks of downtown Seattle from the even more sissy-ass "authorities," and that in turn, people with measurable T levels, led by a man called "Raz" had seized it from them.

She absolutely refused to believe such a turn of events was even possible until I showed her the documentary evidence, at which point she said "this is like a bad movie."

Average voters outside of these kinds of areas don't even know it's going down.

643 "Rich Lowry, Richard Brookhiser, and Jay Nordlinger"
Lowry is the Editor. Jason Lee Steorts is the managing editor, Charles CW Cooke is the web editor, and someone named 'Katherine Howell" is the literary editor.

Brookhiser (who was Buckley's heir apparent from 1977-88 - he never got the job), Nordlinger, Ramesh Ponnuru, and David Pryce-Jones are listed as salaried editors. Pryce-Jones' appears to be a courtesy billing. He hasn't contributed to the publication in 2.5 years and lives in England. Brookhiser doesn't write much contentious topical commentary; he's a 'historian' and adopts a pose of being above it all. However, he makes clear now and again he's hostile to the president. So is Ponnuru, who's on retainer at PBS. So is Nordlinger, explicitly. So, three of your seven salaried editors adopt a pose favored by < 10% of voting Republicans.
Cooke is a British expat who lives in Orlando and telecommutes. He's a self-professed libertarian and will defend the president case-by-case. Steorts lives in Salt Lake City of all places and also telecommutes (which seems quite odd given that he's the 'managing editor'). Lowry cut Mark Steyn from the contributors list to please him. (Steorts is a 38 year old bachelor who is the in house voice for the gay lobby). Lowry by all appearances is someone whose metier is multi-directional placation. Howell has no signature voice and her contributions could have been written with templates.
