AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

8/19 – Coelacanth asks for continued prayers. There are problems with his son Cam. Cam has been concealing many things for many years and has been lying to his family. His mother is heartbroken.
8/24 Update – Cam is still suffering with his significant health issues, and his mental state is unstable. He is making decisions based on feelings, and guided by bad advice, will not consider his parents’ cautions.
9/9 Update – Coelacanth and his wife have had the “adult” conversation with Cam, since he had been misusing the money they’d sent. They did pay off his student loans, per their original promise, and Cam called to thank them. He still has a lot of medical problems, and so much has been taken away in the last 6 months – he went from an Olympic class athlete to needing a cane to keep his balance. Prayers are still needed.

9/23 - Tecumseh Team sends many thanks for the prayers for her and her husband. They are making slow but forward progress, and the Lord is answering their prayers.

8/26 – Jewells45 posted that she could use prayers. Her last round of chemo was tough on her.
9/9 Update – The CT scan found another spot on her upper left lung that is about 6 mm. The rest of the nodes showed no change, and a few very small ones in both lower lungs. The doctor was concerned enough to order a PET scan, which was then scheduled for 11/29!
9/15 Update – It’s been another bad week after chemo treatment.

8/26 – Dash my Lace Wings asked for continued prayers. Her husband is still sober but needs to develop some interests to keep his mind and body busy – something that will give him joy and purpose in life.
9/23 – Thanks are sent to all for the prayers. They are doing well.

8/30 – Debby Doberman Schultz asked for prayers. Her husband passed away on 8/30, with her sitting beside him, holding his hand. The kids had been in and out, but the end it was like the beginning - just the two of them. As painful as it was, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is so gratified that he is relieved of his suffering.

9/2 – Oddbob’s granddaughter was released from the hospital. Since then, she has had only one seizure so it seems like the meds and keto diet are working. The docs say she might grow out of it in a few years but of course can’t promise anything. If not, she and her parents are in for a lifelong process of monitoring, controlling, and coping. He thanks everyone for their prayers and concern.

9/2 – Skip shared his concerns about his aunt and uncle, who are moving to a retirement community soon. His uncle is not doing well, mentally or physically. Skip hopes for more peace for them.

9/8 – Inogame requested prayers for his wife and their next daughter, due in March. Please help pray for health. His wife is struggling with morning sickness, but otherwise both are healthy. He also sends thanks for the Horde’s prayers of support, both now and when they had miscarriages in the past.

9/9 – Jewells asked for prayers for her brother-in-law and his wife. The brother-in-law has been diagnosed with dementia. He is diabetic and cannot give himself his injections, and he refuses to let his wife help him. He also refuses to stay home, even getting into the car with strangers to get away. Please pray for strength and wisdom for her, and for him to accept the changes that have to happen.
9/23 Update – The situation is getting worse. Her brother-in-law just wanders off when he knows his wife is not looking. He also has a “friend” who helped him withdraw all the money from the couple’s joint account, and put it into an account in just the BIL’s name. Now the wife cannot pay the bills or the mortgage. The BIL fell again, and his wife is at her wits end.

9/9 – NaughtyPine asked for prayers for one of her brothers. He’d been in the hospital for a week after a breakdown. This is the strong brother, the one who takes care of everyone else and never asks for anything.
9/23 Update – Her brother finished the program this week and will have a follow-up next week. He is going to spend time with their Dad, which will be good for them both.

9/9 – San Franpsycho sent some updates: Paul, who we have been praying for as he deals with cancer, was admitted to the hospital last week for an ulcer. The NG tube was removed, and he will be able to eat soon. The other update is that Mrs. F. is feeling better in the ER, after 2 fluid IVs.
9/23 Update – There is no good news on Paul to report. Mrs. F is back to 100%.

9/9 – RedMindBlueState requested prayers. His brother-in-law’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is not doing well. Prayers also for the family at this difficult time.

9/14 – creeper asked for prayers for a man who has destroyed his back after years of hard physical labor. He can’t have any more back surgery, so he is having an electronic nerve stimulator put in. Prayers that it would work would be appreciated.
9/16 Update – creeper sends thanks to all who prayed. The temporary stimulator was implanted and it does seem to help. If all goes well, they will install the permanent one.
9/23 Update – creeper says thank you for your prayers. They took the temporary nerve stimulator out of his back, and it’s up to him if he wants a permanent one. But it was the first noticeable pain relief in three years. It may have been medical science helping, but creeper thinks it was the Horde’s prayers.

9/14 – FenelonSpoke requested prayers for Jessie, their church organist. She hasn’t been able to play at church for a while, but she is back in the hospital. Prayers are appreciated!

9/16 – Rhennigantx asked for prayers as he experiences Afib. He is now facing drugs or maybe the ablation treatment.

9/16 – LMD asked for prayers for a sister who is in the final throes of hospice. Please pray that she will pass on so that her suffering will stop. Prayers are much appreciated.

9/22 – DaveT sent an update. He is a retired gentleman, and we had prayed for him in May, as he was going through some legal battles to save his home, for himself and his cats. The legal (and home repair) battles continue, and additional contributions would be very much appreciated. Please email Annie’s Stew directly if you would like to contribute, and she will send you the link to his GiveSendGo account.

9/23 – Jim (in kalifornia) provided an update on his relatives. His father-in-law is better after having a vascular catheter put in and emergency dialysis. His mother-in-law suffered through helping him, and also ended up with a new tumor. She also missed about 5 treatments, so all her other tumor markers are way up.

9/23 – Polliwog the Ette requested prayers for her mother-in-law, Peggy, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It seems to be contained, but fast-growing, and hopefully a lumpectomy will be sufficient. She is understandably nervous about the whole thing and would appreciate prayers.

9/24 – Eromero was having dinner with a 95 year-old buddy at the senior living facility, and had to bring his friend to the ER with pneumonia symptoms.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Thank you Annie for your efforts.

15 I was just reading through the end of the ONT, and noticed some talk about no secure coms, how everything electronic is now compromised. True Dat, although I've realized there's one curious exception - snail mail. Everyone under age 40 or so thinks it's just for packages, bills, and solicitations, so in their minds it doesn't even exist. It would never occur to them that people would communicate by laboriously writing out a message by hand.
It's a hole in their worldview.

49 Happy Saturday

Posted by: rhennigantx at September 30, 2023 08:34 AM (BRHaw)

50 I've had some infuriating things happen, but the following takes the cake. The nursing home where my father died 24 days ago sent a bill, addressed to him. This is the first bill we ever received.

It claimed to be "seriously past due", complete with a threatening letter addressed to "Discharged Resident", claiming repeated attempts were made to contact, and lack of response leads them to believe he did not intend to pay his debt. This was followed by a threat of litigation.

Bill was for $1K, 5 days of Medicare copay at $200/day, which began after the 20 day 100% coverage period. My father had secondary insurance which covers that -- no attempt was apparently made to file that.

Anyway, 30 days after charges began, and 24 days after he died, they send such a letter, and to a dead man.

Why? Why must these simps be like this? I'm not saying he should've engaged in Leftist style grave-dancing. But... just say nothing. Why the cucky urge to eulogize a nasty old Communist tyrant and crook who spent fifty years selling her office for a nine-digit sum?

They just can't help themselves. It's like they have a voice in their heads saying "c'mon JD... do some simpin'. You know you want to. This IS who we are."

90 We will close the sale of my mom's house Wednesday. This was the only reasonable choice, but it's been hard. Her parents bought the house in the 1930s, and she was born in the front room of the house. She has lived there for a total of 52 years. Of course, I grew up going there to grandma's house (and I even lived there one semester of college). It was packed to the gills with Stuff. It's empty now.

I plan to take her over there tomorrow after church to say goodbye.

I'm not sure how this will hit her. She has no problems with comprehension - her issues are with short term memory, and thus with making decisions. We've talked about the sale and she seems to be philosophical about it. Yet she often still tells people things like "I'll be back home soon."

It was indeed. I hated my work, which was outdoors in the heat. But I loved my home life (married -- and happily -- for the second time), I was working on a novel, the booze had not yet gripped me in its jaws again, my workouts were good, Arizona the red tabby w/ white was a year old, and for most of that year we lived in a two-bedroom half-house with a big living room and a local park right outside the front door. Damned if I recall why we moved from that place.

And a lot of pop music, like "Ghostbusters" (and the movie of course!) and "Holding Out For a Hero," was dynamite.

Everyone under age 40 or so thinks it's just for packages, bills, and solicitations, so in their minds it doesn't even exist. Possible celebrity sightings for CU vs. USC game

Many A-list celebrities are set to travel to Boulder for Saturday’s matchup.

According to Sports Illustrated, notable names like LeBron James, Jay Z and Matthew McConaughey are rumored to be watching the game unfold on Folsom Field.

Lil Wayne is also expected to return to Boulder after he helped lead the team out onto the field before the matchup against Nebraska. Sanders gifted the rapper a custom jersey with his nickname, “Tunechi,” emblazoned on the back, so he will most likely be repping the Buffs this weekend.

The celebrity list doesn’t end there.

Lust is absolutely the most dangerous of all the deadly sin. Hardest to resist. Dom Lorenzo Scupoli wrote that there can be no long-term resistance to it, the best thing to do is run away, avoid the circumstances where it can arise. See, here's what you gotta do: go somewhere where there is so much snow (yes, Western Wyoming) that it is beautiful all winter, and the localities have dedicated the resources to its constant removal from the roadways.

I didn't really like winter much, then I moved to Wyoming, and the winter joy was kind of infectious. Now I miss it.

I can't say I like winter, but I made peace with Wyoming winters (snow more so than wind) after I got good Icebug boots and quit busting my ass on the ice. The biggest problem I had with Wyo winters is how long they are. I'd get depressed around April every year because it was supposed to be spring.

The blissful summers and autumns more than made up for any winter unhappiness.

I am on various meds including a blood thinner. I do all activities including walking, biking, golf (walking) cardio exercise and weights, etc. Only noticeable impact is that if I cut myself pit bleeds more and I have to slap a bandaid on it.

Very, very manageable, and a capable cardiologist can change your life for the better. All the best from a fellow moron.

280 Good morning all. Many thanks for the calls and notes concerning my BIL. For those that don't know, the short version;
B. is cognitively disabled and we wanted to have him visit. Can't drive to our place so we put him on a bus. Nashville's bus stop is a hell hole and rattled him. He did get on the right bus but the driver skipped stopping at the rural stops between N. and Raleigh that would get him here. So, B. freaked and was dumped off in the middle of nowhere after he became agitated. LEO got involved but no real harm done. We finally located him and drove all over God's green acres to retrieve him.

We made a mistake putting him on a bus but all's well that ends.
Again, thanks all.

Heh. Like I'd even tell anyone here!

Mom found a $5 bill still inside a Mother's Day card that her parents had sent to Mom's granny, probably sometime in the 60s. That's the best I can do.

311 I plan to take her over there tomorrow after church to say goodbye.

I'm not sure how this will hit her. She has no problems with comprehension - her issues are with short term memory, and thus with making decisions. We've talked about the sale and she seems to be philosophical about it. Yet she often still tells people things like "I'll be back home soon."

312 Prayers are a good thing; I could use some.

Wife hasn't been doing her cancer treatments (missed a month helping her dad, came back, Hilary caused one missed, missed two more for infections, and will miss next one for new infection, plus has new tumor in new organ, a lung).

younger son is being a stupid teenager. Found drugs (weed, shrooms) in his room, he didn't see anything wrong with what he did (not to mention, my house, my rules, zero drug policy). Might still get HS diploma in continuation school after failing all classes last semester and first quarter of school year.

FIL is finally out of the hospital. Decided to spend and extra month doing stuff instead of getting his surgery. As wife flew out for her treatments almost 2wks ago, he flew into and almost immediately went to emergency. Was released from hospital yesterday; needed vascular catheter insertion to do dialysis, had hospital dialysis for 1 1/2 weeks in hospital, doing dialysis this morning, so better...

All this means I haven't been working, so with big bills coming up (home insurance, car insurance), will be...fun figuring out which bills not to pay. Dunno who'll drop first; me or wife.

Such is life.

386 Likewise! Will I see you in Texas in a few weeks?
Posted by: Doof at September 30, 2023 10:54 AM (2pH9T)

Sorry, no. Finances are tight and I'm in school. (School is not causing tight finances -- tuition is free to those over 29.)

Posted by: Emmie at September 30, 2023 10:58 AM (Sf2cq)

387 Well, I'm getting too chatty and there's a list of things to do around here that have been neglected for awhile. Time for me to step away for a bit.

Thanks everyone for listening to me and praying for my family. I appreciate it more than I can say.

Love and hugs to all, especially those who are grieving, ill, hurting, or walking through a difficult season.

Can't wait for the MoMe in a bit more than #2weeks.

388 I appreciate the thoughts, and prayers. Knowing my late brother he has everything planned out. Pretty minimal. No service. Those were his wishes.

The suddenness of it all is what's so hard.

389 Although one of my ex-wife's elementary teachers was the first runner-up to Christa McAuliffe. If McAuliffe hadn't been able to go for any reason, the Ex's teacher would have been on the shuttle.

That's similar, right?

Nearly all prominent Christian leaders went completely AWOL on the gender ideology fight. Even now, when it’s safer to speak up, still most of them refuse.

392 Thanks, SiD! Mr. Bassman is doing pretty well except he blew out his knee. Replacement is scheduled for January. He had to do his last performance mostly seated on a stool. He says thanks for the hug.

Is he? I thought Gen. Brown seemed like a decent guy. Not a service academy grad, which is sort of amazing. I'm assuming he got promoted because of his race, but that can backfire.

He's very big on attacking complacency. I guess we'll see.

He's just four years younger than Milley. That's surprising, I thought.

395 Where did September go? It regressed to August. 90s for the next three days; 80s the fourth day, then finally October. Nothing higher than 71° the next several days.

Starting to see a few trees changing color. Unfortunately this is Nebraska. Yellow, brown, drop. No reds. No oranges. Just yellow, brown drop. Bleh.

Ah. Huntsville, Alabama at the Space & Rocket Center. Space Camp was a newish thing when I went *mumble* years ago. We did a mock shuttle mission, I can't remember what my job was, not the pilot or we surely would have mock-crashed.

In those days they'd let you crawl inside the Apollo 16 command module at the Space & Rocket Center.

They've got a real Saturn V there too. I haven't been to Huntsville in many years, but I'm not too far away now. Need to go back...

402 Do prayers actually work?

Yes, at times.

Because it is a living medium we all inhabit and it is very plastic,
can be shaped and molded, very similar to Wiccan or practices in
sorcery, a means of manipulating the natural magic and energy which surrounds us.

Of course, prayers can go off the track, when the sorcerer's take over as we see today with the Dark Globalists in charge, or in ancient Meso-America, when the sorcerer's instituted human sacrifice.
