AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

7/8 Update – Jewell’s niece went in for her second infusion treatment, but they couldn’t do it because she had a UTI. She’s so depressed. The doctors will probably make some changes to her drugs, since she has felt so awful.

6/24 – RetSgtRN asked for prayers for her son-in-law, Kenny, who at 37 is battling acute leukemia. He beat lymphoma 2 years ago. He has 2 boys, ages 3 and 7. He is also a police officer in a very large city and fortunately his boss has been supportive. Thanks to all for your prayers!
7/1 Update – Kenny is in remission. Now he will begin treatments for his bone marrow transplant, which will require him to remain in the hospital for 100 days, including part of it in isolation.

6/27 – Catch Thirty-Thr33’s father will return home from the hospital, and he will be visited by a hospice nurse twice a week. He is 82 now and has been fighting lung cancer for 18 months now. Please pray for him.
7/10 Update – Catch Thirty-Thr33’s father passed away today.

7/1 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for the woman that she is running with for township committee. The woman is having bad digestive pain.

7/1 – rhennigantx asked for prayers for his buddy Jason, who lost a good friend to an overdose. Jason is very angry at a (so called) friend who gave the other friend the drugs.

7/1 – JM in Fla/III asked for prayers for his brother and sister-in-law, who are struggling with their adult son; he is schizophrenic but does not always take his medicine.

7/4 – neverenoughcaffeine asked for prayers for Tom, Andy, and Wilson. Their wife and mom Yumiko died in a freak accident on Sunday and Tom was severely injured.

7/7 – Misanthropic Humanitarian asked for prayers for his friend, Lonesome Ed. He has knee issues and will be undergoing surgery later this month.

7/8 – Tuna said she could use some prayers. Her husband passed away on 7/8.

7/8 – LenNeal posted some updates that he has serious heart damage after having Covid multiple times and the J&J vax.

7/8 – RedMindBlueState requested prayers for his oldest childhood friend (and occasional lurker), whose wife has colon cancer. They don’t know what stage or treatment yet, but could use prayers.

7/8 – Emmie asked for prayers. Her husband is having a pacemaker implanted on Tuesday. She asks for prayers for a successful procedure, a full recovery, and improved energy and function.
7/22 Update – Emmie’s husband’s pacemaker surgery went well and he recovered quickly. His doctor has suggested quite a few medications, which may not all be appropriate, so they plan to get a second opinion on that.

7/13 – FenelonSpoke requested prayers for Dr. M and his medical team, for his upcoming heart surgery.

7/14 – Inogame asked for prayers for health for his wife and her developing condition. He also sends thanks for the Horde’s prayers for his wife in the past.

7/15 – Polliwog asked for prayers for her son (age 23) who is suddenly losing weight and might have diabetes. However, his son will not see a doctor or even discuss the subject. He also could be depressed – he has been ghosting his fiancé. Prayers for his fiancé (who is understandably hurt) and for him, that he would let people help him.

7/15 – Vmom asked for prayers for her husband, that God may lead him to our Lord Jesus Christ.

7/15 – Coelacanth sent thanks for the prayers of the Horde for his son Cam, who has returned to the family and has graduated from a very tough Masters program. However, he was recently diagnosed with POTS (Positional Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). His balance is off and he gets winded on a short flight of stairs. He has faith that this is all still part of God’s plan.

7/22 – Donna&&&&& would appreciate prayers, as she found out she has breast cancer. It was caught early and is slow-growing, so she is optimistic.

7/22 – Dash my lace wigs posted that she and her husband could use some prayers. He had an incident involving too much drink, too many stairs, too much anger, and The Law. He is on court-ordered sobriety, and she thanks Jesus for that, but sees a long and difficult recovery ahead. She prays that he succeeds, and that she will have the strength to stand with him through it.

7/24 – The DMV MGC is requesting Moron prayers that strength, endurance, and peace may be granted to blaster, sra blaster, and her sister, as they face a rough family situation that several others among the horde are currently facing as well as others that have already faced, or will eventually, face. Sra blaster’s mother is not doing well either physically or emotionally and is also suffering from dementia/Alzheimer’s. She is being cared for by both her daughters right now in Florida and very dependent upon them but needs healing and home care (which is hard to come by in Florida). Prayers for her recovery and ability to resume some level of independent living would be appreciated.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

10 willowed but an interesting topic that people probably arent aware of:

--

several cars I drove recently are nanny cars, won't let you drive unless you wear a seatbelt

-

Yep. A friend has a brand new Honda and it will chime continuously if you don't wear a seatbelt. Not briefly and then shut off, but apparently then entire time you are on your two hour trip if you choose to not wear one.

The other thing is that car manufacturers are required to shut their engines off after X number of seconds/minutes now, too. Which sounds fine until you realize that means you can't leave grandma in the car while you go in to get groceries because the car, and AC, will turn off after five minutes even if you left the key in the car and everything adjusted to prevent engine shut off.

I asked for strength
and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom
and God gave me problems to learn to solve.
I asked for prosperity
and God gave me a brain and brawn to work.
I asked for courage
and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for love
and God gave me people to help.
I asked for favours
and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted.
I received everything I needed.

58 MisHum, thanks for your hosting of the prayer thread. Even in group as diverse and accomplished as the Horde, it is quite remarkable that so many are in trouble of various sorts and are willing to ask us for prayer help.

Prayers up for those that have asked us for them;
Prayers up for those that know they need them but have not asked us for them;
Prayers up for those that need them but don’t know it yet; and
Prayers up for those who pray alone, asking in silence, and whose prayers are known but to God!

--

Everything seems to be a crap shoot these days, but we've had very good experiences with all of our Whirlpool Gold appliances. They're all going on 15+ years and the only issue with any of them has been the "stove eye hot" indicator remains on for too long after the eyes have cooled off.

My only recommendation would be to find the cheapest one you like and buy the next model up, even if it is another couple of hundred dollars. Manufacturers are cutting corners not just to save money, but because they are required to legislatively to comply with environmental regulations, too. New car interiors are much less robust and easier to scratch than those from the 80s and 90s because manufacturers are having to incorporate recycled crap into their processes.

Good luck.

I see it now, thanks.

Skimming. I have never been a huge fan of RS (for whatever reason.)

ace is NOT a Trump homer. He has always been either strictly against (primaries), reluctant (early presidency) and then back to against (now that we are entering the primaries again.) It is just that ace was not AS NTer as the cobs that things went so sideways here a ways back. ace has, for the most part been fair.

But the natural predisposition (which I think comes down to a lot of cultural/social connections) has always been there. This is not exactly Benedict Arnold territory.

The thing that bothers me here is that lately (and part of that is from watching ace fence with Trump homers in the comments) if feels like ace was just waiting for something 'credible' to come through to justify his already innate opinion of the man. What this new evidence is, I dunno. It has the feeling of the 'See I always told you he was a dirt bag!'

Now, I have walked quite a ways on this blog, so ace gets the benefit of the doubt here... but then so should Trump.

Meet Jen. A mom, a wife, and regular American who could care less about politics. She doesn’t have a Twitter account, and she’d pick ‘Real Housewives’ reruns over cable news any day.

Politics? Not her thing. But she knows what she likes and knows what she doesn’t like. She doesn’t like Trump. Trump has been indicted...like a lot. “He’s going to jail, right?” She also knows that he’s a bad guy who cheats on his wife and maybe raped someone. Jen’s simple wisdom? Good people don’t vote for bad people. Jen thinks of herself as a good person.

If Republicans nominate Trump, Jen and millions of other Jens aren’t giving him another chance. They’re going to vote for the Democrats.

That Ron DeSantis guy on the other hand…Jen has been hearing good things about him. Her family in Florida LOVES the guy. He’s big on parental rights - which is important with her oldest starting 5th grade. He seems to be pretty low drama. Jen is willing to give him a shot. Maybe he can help with her grocery bill - which has been through the roof.

Get off Twitter for a while folks. Jen is who is going to decide the next election.

157 Regarding McCain's post, and Ace's about Trump yesterday; I think a lot of us don't want to admit that the regime might indeed be successful in blocking Trump from being on any ballot. No, that's not a good thing at all, but the chances of it happening are a lot higher than we want to believe, and a Plan B (that isn't open Civil War) is required. 173 Vmom - regarding a new fridge, we're happy with our Whirlpool french door (lower freezer) we bought a couple year ago. IMO, the newer fridges are all completely over-engineered since a good old side-by-side doesn't exist any more (at least not in the larger capacity range). Thus they have to create a whole separate freezer compartment within the refrigerator to feed the ice/water dispenser on the door. Dual ice-makers can be nice at times. But if you don't use the door dispenser much and don't often run short of ice, I would forgo the dual icemaker and just have the one in the freezer compartment. Leaves you with a lot fewer things likely to fail. Also, I don't buy extended warranties as a rule, but this is one appliance where I've made an exception.

Have a GE fridge in the kitchen that my parents gave us for a house warming gift in 1974. Still does what it was meant to do. An 18 cubic foot fridge/freezer (freezer on top). I replaced the defrost timer twice (about 3o bucks each time) and repaired the freezer fan motor. It's a little induction motor that just needed disassembly and the bronze bushings soaked in oil again. Finally, two years ago, I had to give the system 1 oz of R12 to bring the freezer temp back down to 0 degrees. That's it. It's doing what it was designed to do....keep stuff cold and frozen foods frozen. A lovely Harvest Gold.

It's not adulation. It's called respect and loyalty.

People bitch and moan constantly about politicians who go to DC and either do nothing or sell us out. They find the money and power intoxicating and if they want to be part of the club all they have to do is sell us out. And it has happened over and over for many years.

But it never happened with Trump. He did what he said he would do and he never backed down even a little. They've thrown everything they have at him, the most powerful government in the history of the world, and he never backs down and never looses focus on what he promised to do for us.

He's an egotistical, pugnacious guy which is a double edged sword. It can make him tough to take sometimes but it is also why he has survived and thrived. I'm not looking for a moral leader, I've already got one. I'm looking for someone who will fight against huge odds and never back down.

202 Regardless of who gets the Repub nomination there will even more election irregularities which cast doubt on the election (or should, at the very least, the precincts in question) and its legitimacy. The easiest to see is when votes totals exceed total number of registered voters in a precinct. Had that going on for a looong time. Yet the excuse is always, "We cannot cull the fake votes as there is no way to know how many and which ones are fake."

In reality the precinct as a whole should be culled for 'no confidence' or as 'spoiled' and prosecute the election officers who allowed it as self evident that they propagated the fraud. They are the ones who should be calling no confidence on it.
I mean, they are sitting right there in that room with that box and somebody stuffed it right in front of them and they didn't notice?

207 The bigger problem with arguing about Trump is that we lose sight of what is important, which is the ongoing spiritual warfare. Are we tending to that? Building up our spiritual health and strengthing ourselves for the coming clash.

The reason the left fears Christians so much is because they cannot in any way relate to people willing to die for a cause - especially people who are otherwise well-off and happy. Their greatest fear is death, and they will do or say anything to postpone it for even a few seconds.

Christians who would rather die than just say a few works, are entirely alien creatures, terrifying fanatics. The perspective that we will be dead longer than we are alive, that life is passing but God is forever is something they do everything in their power to ignore.

This is what we have to focus on, orienting our hearts to God unconditionally, recognizing that we will all die, and that doing so as a witness to God's goodness is a blessing, not a curse.

Get a kit like a neti pot or a sinus wash kit and slosh out your sinuses with a dilute mix of water and Providone Iodine. It is what the nurses on the covid wards would use.
You wind up waterboarding yourself but upper respiratory viruses lodge in your sinuses and this is a way to get them to go away.
If you use the sinus wash with the baking soda / salt buffer they are less unpleasant.

248 Why would the chinese build a biolab in the US when they have complete control of their own country and no real laws saying they can't do it?

The CDC has probably the most extensive warehouse of contagions, viruses and disease plus they are notoriously reckless in their handling of it.

Remember when in 2014 they "lost" vials of Anthrax? When they exposed colleagues to H5N1?

USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service discovered a LONG list of violations the CDC didn't care about like transporting lethal materials in Ziploc bags, using unlocked refrigerators and unrestricted corridors, mislabeling and losing anthrax containers, etc.

The Chinese see the CDC has a honey pot of the world's most dangerous viruses and spores lacking security, auditing and easily bribable corrupt employees to steal and transfer contraband to the Chinese without the hassles of going through Import/Export controls.

314 The reason the left fears Christians so much is because they cannot in any way relate to people willing to die for a cause - especially people who are otherwise well-off and happy.

The theoretical vs the practical are way off here. Most atheists I run across are agnostic, the hard atheists are like pole dancers who have Daddy Issues and rationalize a DIY cosmic morality that can judge God and find Him guilty.

Dr John MacArthur wrote a book on Heaven speculating on why Christians don't have a love for it, wanting to complete a bucket list was a far higher, if only priority.

I think that nominal Christians are no different from other afterlife believing faiths where the gate-keeper looks at a ledger of "Good" works and sins and works out a payment plan (Purgatory) or ready admission.

The west not just the US is in a war against cultural Marxism. Retreating from it isn't going to stop it. This is bigger than just the corrupt US government, it is a worldwide movement.

It's not a war we asked for but it is here nevertheless. They are attacking from all angles, in the culture, the schools, the government, everywhere. They might seem like random uncoordinated attacks but they aren't. It's going to take more than just faith, it is going to take action as well.

389 It makes sense that "his" is the possessive of "he". "He's", essentially, but as a possessive instead of a contraction. By why "her"? Shouldn't it have been be "she's", so then turning into something like "shis" pronounced "shizz"?

Did the Anglo-Saxons just give zero foxes about this sort of thing?

I'm not saying "never," I'm just not interested in the debate. I think my energy is best used in other activities, like supporting my parish and taking care of projects around the house.

That's why I only come here on weekends, and try to be upbeat about faith rather than argue about politics.

We are in the worst situation of my entire life, and yet I feel a strange calmness, a quiet confidence that God is doing His will and that evil only seems to triumph. It's fine for folks to argue politics if they like it, but I don't enjoy it any more. Books and faith are my primary interests.

Trump got 55 of the 57* countries of the OIC together in one room. Back door negotiations probably made a polite request to maybe tone down some interpretations of the Koran which were being published. Quiet four years on that front, yes? Damn right.

Within his first 100 days. The open sore in the Middle East that Obama created got fixed. On that day of that meeting I got chills up my spin because he had achieved the impossible.

Our current situation goes way beyond elections, the tyrannical left controls every part of society. They control the federal govt bureaucracy which doesn’t change based on elections. They control the media, entertainment, education, tech, the vast majority of big corporations.

It's foolish to have hope in normal electoral ("electoral") status quo retail politics to pull us out of the nose dive. But it's not foolish to keep up hope in general. History is weird and stupid. Why should Current Year not also be weird and stupid? And if we're lucky, Weird and Stupid will work out in our favor.

408 Hee is a perfect example:
Trump at Lincoln Day De inner with other candidates including DeSantis in the audience. Perfect opportunity to lay out his agenda and contrast with other candidates who would speak. Instead he spouts poll numbers showing him ahead, especially against DeSantis. My problem is that it is all about him. I would love to go back to the days of his Presidency when the economy was flying and life was good.
I just don't think he is capable of delivering that anymore.
I wonder if anyone is.

413 Whirlpool is a more widespread company than it was a couple of decades ago (thanks to the Uptons et al). Some of their refrigerators may be from the former Amana works in Iowa.

fd, I think it's slag. We used to have ironworks and steel mills, both within a couple of miles, and a coking plant. The cinders from these processes got used as fill and pavement base a lot (slightly unstable because there was enough iron in them to rust eventually -- why a "cinder block" is not the same as a "concrete block"), so we find bits of glassy slag even in garden soils. There is a new steel mill now, but it is all electric.

At the metal works, you'd often meet real Bulgarians, who in their off-the-boat version pronounced it "Boodle-goddian," so the local nickname for Bulgs is "Boodle-Goddies." In the old time, they did not get along with Greekans, Turkans, or Hungarians. There was a reason the Balkans were balkanized.
