16 Made it by a cardinal feather!

You'd think with a title like "Winter" it would be a bleak scene. But the colors of the birds, and their apparent motion as they sweep around the base of the rock outcrop, give it life.

Well, the Missing Year was harsh on all retail, and hastened the end of a few malls here in the Queen City area. California, Oregon, Washington, all those states suffered an extra year of lockdown, as well as a perpetual cycle of masked black anarchists for hire tearing things up, and the police being maligned and restrained at every opportunity. Naturally a lot of people then decided that they shouldn't have to pay for anything and wouldn't be held to account if they used the five-finger discount.

Then throw in the Yellow Breasted Ditflickers and the Pink Winged Flitdickers and I see pandemonium at work here.

I was in the local Senior Citizens office months ago and a young woman was there returning some walkers her parents had used. She must have been about 25 or so or younger. Both of her parents who were in their 50's died within six months of each other of the same kind of cancer. I didn't ask what kind, nor did I ask "Did they have a Covid shot?" which would have been inappropriate and not helpful, but I can't get that poor stricken young woman's face out of my mind when I hear about deaths of various people who DID have the shots.

I think the idea of the "land cruise" was to turn their extremely profitable actual cruises and cut out a large bulk of the cost in terms of maintaining an actual cruise ship on water. The problem is that on a cruise ship, I can be perfectly happy on a sea day just sitting on the deck and watching the water. I do have the option of activity, but that's probably not what most people are seeking most of the time on the boat.

However, without the natural effects of an actual sea cruise, they had to fill the time with...something. So, they filled it with noise. Throw in the fact that the Star Wars brand has taken a dive over the past few years, and it was just a weird bet in general. Probably not something that needed a billion dollars to test.

There are people who would love it. The role-play, the engagement, the theme, all of it. These are the same people who go to "Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp" and it is probably - if I had to guess - the exact same target demographic: middle-aged people with money and obsessive interest.

Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp has been fairly successful, but it's all a matter of scale. About 6,000 people have gone through it over 25 years (per Wikipedia, so grain of salt). That starts at six grand for four days, so it is anywhere from a bit to a lot more expensive that the Galactic Starcruiser thing - but they *know* it will be low-volume. They also didn't spend a billion dollars building a venue for it.

The market for something like this is *tiny* and Disney decided to go big on it - and didn't even (apparently) do all that good job when it came to execution. It's a disastrous boondoggle the likes of which usually requires government involvement.

308 As part of last week’s budget deal, Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Legislature ordered the New York Power Authority to shut down all its fossil-fuel plants in just seven years — even though gas-fired plants supply nearly half the state’s electricity.

At the same time, they banned gas (for stoves and heating) in all new buildings by 2029, forcing them to be all-electric.

And by 2035, the only new cars sold here must also be purely electric.

Where on Earth do they think all the new juice that’s needed will come from?

The NYPA closures are just a small part of the state’s insane energy plan, which just forced National Grid to push for gas rate hikes of 17%, following Con Ed’s request up its gas charges 20%, and 12% for electricity.

It depends on which of them you're talking about. There are two groups:
1. It'll come from somewhere. Engineers always figure it out once the government quits coddling them.
2. It won't. There will be permanent shortages and rolling blackouts. The proles will suffer and my control will increase. It'll be fine. They *always* just sit there and take it and this will be no different.

368 Russian revolutionary-ish to me. Life thrives even amid such harshness, yada, yada and/or Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 from the Bible and Turn, turn, turn by the Byrds.

I'm surprised I like this painting with its wildly contrasting colors & softness around the granite, and I might hang it.
I see Blume did a painting entitled South of Scranton which is much more surreal and, actually, very bidenish to me. Wouldn't hang it but it's worth a peek. Thanks.

370 367 It's criminal to be a governor of a large state that sits on a vast reservoir of clean natural gas, yet causes rate hikes and shortages on purpose. VAERS is a little different. That is a self-reporting system that allows the public to interact with the gov't authorities on approved meds. Phase 4 is where the FDA continues to actively monitor the drug/vaccine's safety 'in the wild'

382 Everytime I see 'birdbath' here my mind literally races to Nanz with her psycho waving claw hand talking about birdbath and ah privilege scrub.

The Rachel Marie's lip syncing is funnier, but the real vid of Nanz is quite something.

Two for sure in TX that must go. Eyepatch McCain and that fucking dunce John Cornyn.

Further, I don't see the 'baggage' of Trump but I never found CNN's lie tracker anything but fever dreams. He's Trump so we get Trump (which is often hilarious) and definitely out maneuvered Reagan on my list. Best president in my life.

Trump's inner circle should be asking themselves who's the most vindictive motherfucker we can think of for AG because the reckoning is coming.
