The entire absurd idiocy of the "RUSSIA!" thing, every aspect, from the very first mention - sort of conclusively demonstrated how cretinized the country is. It should have been laughed out of polite company instantly - obviously.
People who still probably can't find Russia on a map, and who spent decades effectively hamstringing our side when there actually was a real competition with them, suddenly barfed up this nonsense. "Counter-intelligence" (ha!) FBI airheads actually believed it, then criminally went on to pretend to believe it when even their dim intellects grasped the obvious. The GOP went along with it. The public didn't punish the absurd cartoon at the ballot box. There's nothing but embarrassing collapse in all directions, but that chapter stands out as definitive. Theory (admittedly a work in progress): The WEF types understand that our current knowledge and capabilities can't deliver sufficient "green" energy. But, and hear me out on this, maybe they're thinking that if they pressure humanity enough, we'll rapidly evolve . . . and presto our smarter descendants will fix everything. And we'll lose a few billion people, but like a famous general said, sometimes hair gets mussed.
-------- Why would you kill off the advanced western civilizations entirely to force the 3rd world sh*tholes to have to advance to the points we achieved 50-100 years ago? 50% of the world has never used indoor plumbing. They are not "evolving" to solve anything useful. Posted by: Now they're just f*cking with you- Ukraine Reveals End Date for War With Russia at January 11, 2023 07:03 PM (IF3vp) 205

Crenshaw really is (like so many and so much any more) an unwitting self-parody. A (very clumsy) non-apology apology, about half as smooth as those pioneered by some of the worst racist hate-mongers, who weren't the sharpest knives in the drawer either. He doesn't seem very bright, definitely low on the verbal intelligence side. But the is the perfect package of empty labels tribal affiliations and "resume" - perfect in showing how useless those things are in selecting reps.

There are too many gaps in the fossil record to let us, today, figure out much of the evolution and migration of hominid species. Africa is interesting (continued in a following comment)...
Africa is interesting/odd because the vast majority of its tectonic plate has been geologically and tectonically stable for hundreds of millions to several billion years. Except for the East African Rift Zone, where millions and millions of years of shear (the cause is still debated), with the subsequent erosion, then sedimentation, and then exposure of ancient layers. Most of the oldest known hominid fossils are found in the East African Rift Zone. Is that because hominids and ultimately homo sapiens evolved in that area? Or because the Rift Zone is very conducive to creation/preservation of fossils and their subsequent exposure at current surface levels, compared to other locations in Africa and the oldest dry land on other tectonic plates? Thinking about all the possibilities and unknowns make my brain hurt. Posted by: Gref at January 11, 2023 07:29 PM (AMIL/) 360

Horse, wagon, language much better book.
I assume you're talking about "The Horse, the Wheel, and Language: How Bronze-Age Riders from the Eurasian Steppes Shaped the Modern World", by David Anthony. The blurb says: Linking prehistoric archaeological remains with the development of language, David Anthony identifies the prehistoric peoples of central Eurasia's steppe grasslands as the original speakers of Proto-Indo-European, and shows how their innovative use of the ox wagon, horseback riding, and the warrior's chariot turned the Eurasian steppes into a thriving transcontinental corridor of communication, commerce, and cultural exchange. He explains how they spread their traditions and gave rise to important advances in copper mining, warfare, and patron-client political institutions, thereby ushering in an era of vibrant social change. Anthony also describes his fascinating discovery of how the wear from bits on ancient horse teeth reveals the origins of horseback riding. This is usually referring to the Pontic steppe, but could be Transoxiana. Sounds like an interesting book regardless. Posted by: Archimedes at January 11, 2023 07:57 PM (eOEVl) 375
