At first, I had my old place to deal with. Then, hubby got so sick... I managed to market and sell, then empty, my old house all alone. (Ok, neighbors and friends helped one weekend.) I had called older bro, told him what's up... he says: "ugh. sounds like w*rk!" and offered no assistance. Bah.

One other bro has helped, but lives far away and isn't exactly well-off. He's the ONLY one who has done either jack or squat wrt Dad's place.

Morning, all, and a Happy New Year's Eve to MLiI -- who has me beat in the no hangover sweepstakes. I have but a measly 36 years and some months. Oh, there were mornings I awakened with sinus headaches, which suddenly stopped happening in my early 40s, and what I called "blood-pounding" headaches, which vanished once I started taking blood pressure meds. But "hangovers" of the classical kind? No indeed!

Harry Belafonte:

That song of his about the 'tallyman' who was almost certainly white, is about hiding a deadly tarantula in with the banana.

But I've never heard of any effort to 'cancel' the song. Even if everyone is all of the same race, it's calling for the murder of another human being.

Welcome. Something else, the Drs told Jane D'oh to go home and get some rest, which is possibly a hopeful sign.

The one thing that concerns me is I think that Jane and her husband are a political thing in their state, early tea party embracers, iirc. I don't put anything past the left anymore.

71
Inhalation: Within a few hours of inhaling significant amounts of ricin, the likely symptoms would be respiratory distress (difficulty breathing), fever, cough, nausea, and tightness in the chest. Heavy sweating may follow as well as fluid building up in the lungs (pulmonary edema). This would make breathing even more difficult, and the skin might turn blue. Excess fluid in the lungs would be diagnosed by x-ray or by listening to the chest with a stethoscope. Finally, low blood pressure and respiratory failure may occur, leading to death. In cases of known exposure to ricin, people having respiratory symptoms should seek medical care.

Anything in there sound familiar?

78 iirc both his now ex-wife and his brother have posted updates during extended absences.

Good news about fluid in lungs is the fix is fairly as easy as in poking a hole and draining the fluid. The problem is will fluid accumulate again? Often this is a symptom of heart failure which of course is a more difficult medical problem to solve.

I know conspiracy theory, but I'm sure I've been on some database for the last two decades. My wife contracted covid in late October, 2019, shortly after receiving half a dozen packages which originated in China. One of the first cases in my state.

257 There is going to be a sudden stratospheric warming which will bring polar air to the UK next month.
Warming? Warming? Climate change brings cold air! Reeee! Well... not so fast...

During northern hemispheric winters, sudden stratospheric warmings, caused by the absorption of Rossby waves in the stratosphere, can be observed in approximately half of winters when easterly winds develop in the stratosphere. These events often precede unusual winter weather [16] and may even be responsible for the cold European winters of the 1960s.[17]

Climate change makes Rossby waves stronger! The models predicted it!

In a den of vipers, an honest snake is dangerous.

1. Notable figures push the idea that the Bible and abortion go hand-in-hand.
2. Pro-Life centers and churches came under attack, and authorities didn’t care.
3. Celebrities encouraged fans to celebrate abortion.
4. TV shows and Hollywood push abortion stories down viewers' throats.
5. Businesses offered abortion incentives.
6. There’s an overwhelming dehumanization of children’s lives.

290 This is why social media is stupid. Someone gets the crackpot idea that biblical eunuchs were transgenders, therefore condoned by God. Tweets it out, and suddenly every NPC and pseudo religious scholar is shouting it. Before twitter that shit would go nowhere.

293 Umm, would not Trumps personal finances during his time as President have been handled by a blind trust? He could not have directed anything about how they were handled outside of charity? His salary as president was donated every quarter?

294 "Someone gets the crackpot idea that biblical eunuchs were transgenders, therefore condoned by God. Tweets it out, and suddenly every NPC and pseudo religious scholar shouting it. "

Yet the message and warnings of Sodom and Gomorrah are ignored.

Funny, that.

299 I can't take credit for the term "Cactus sitting". It is from a woman who does ministry and writes books, Joyce Meyer. The
entire saying is, "Being negative only makes a difficult journey more difficult. You may be given a cactus, but you don't have to sit on it." It's from a little encouragement book -with lovely pictures- on trust, worry and courage from the Bible and other people called, "When God is in the center everything will come together." which I picked up in Paradise, PA-PA Dutch Amish/Mennonite Country.

302 290>> Social media is really just the public square amplified by anonymity. People say shit there that they would never say to your face, or say in public. I doubt that a significant number of the commenters are even real. However, in this case they're not stupid, they're evil.

What's really scary is the reaction you describe. NPCs are literally that. Just characters regurgitating what's provided without the willingness to question or even consider what they're being told.

I got out of the Army in 94 and had combat boots galore. I tried a Justin boot so as to try and move on with civillian life only to return to my old combat boots. I have used up the worlds supply of surplus 10 1/2EE Desert Storm boots and finding anything that fits in civillian styles is next to impossable. Everything "W" is to narrow for my mutant duck feet. I am relegated to Corcoran (one of the few with consistent sizing) for my needs. I don't mind though as I love Jump Boots and work doesn't mess with me over steel toe.

305 Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023 is the 250th anniversary of this famous hymn written by Rev. John Newton, an Anglican priest and former captain of slave ships, who later in life joined William Wilberforce and worked to abolish slavery in the British Empire.

Newton wrote “Amazing Grace” for his Anglican congregation — St. Peter and Paul Church in Olney Buckinghamshire, England — to sing on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 1773.

I have a pair of their Roy's. I need a zipper as my feet have freakishly high insteps and I simply cannot slip my feet into a normal boot. But yeah, Tecovas seem to run a bit small - but I have Barney Rubble feet so what do I know?

I realize you need attention, so here you go. Long time commenter Vic gave regular news reports. He took graciously jokes about his age, when I don't think he was that old-maybe 70's?. Those of us who have been here for a while tend to regard this place as a community so people are concerned when regulars as missing for a long time and we may have no way of getting in touch with them . I think it's insensitive of you to try to score a political point here when people are concerned, so I am going to pray for you and cease reading or responding to your points ever again.
