Top Story

  • In a rare win for sanity and freedom Britain is abandoning legislation that would have banned "legal but harmful" speech online. (Reuters)

The proposed law was so twisted that it included criminal charges for executives of social platforms for the entirely legal speech of other people.

This unsurprisingly provoked some pushback from said social platforms.

The government - the nominally conservative government - is planning to return with more of the same but with a tasty won't somebody think of the children sauce on top.

  • I think everything I want from Ikea is in stock right now. I could just set fire to my credit card and order a houseful of furniture in one go.

Probably best not to. Would save on delivery fees but leave my living room filled with flat packs when I've only just got it free of boxes.

Going to end up with 90 feet of desk space.

21 And the evening and the morning were the Tuesday! The day before payday, in my case. People ask me, "How can you stand it to get paid only once a month?" My answer: "You adjust. The first week, you're rich. The last week, it's 'Which can of soup is left in the cabinet?' The trick is not to spend like the proverbial drunken sailor in the first 29 days."

I didn't realize this was training me for the days when Social Security would pay me but once a month.

If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.

This house has four bedrooms, plus a study, plus a media room, and they're all getting desks except one, which will be the library. The living room will be my office, and will have 40 linear feet of desk space by itself.

If I'd stayed where I was in Sydney I have just about been able to afford a two bedroom apartment for what I paid for this place.

Pixy, your experience gives me hope. Houses here in Da Swamp are either dumps in my price range, in dump areas, or both. Apartments are no better. Soon I hope to afford a nice 2-3 room house or cottage in a more rural area or small city of the US. Of course, the way F. Joe's economy is going, I could buy the house but not be able to afford to cool and heat it.

Id hate to be a doctor today, as half the patients think they know everything because they checked Web MD, and everyone under the age of 30 believes they are born with the complete knowledge of the universe and therefore know better then everyone.

Then when the doctor runs 200 tests and doesn't declare that little Atticus, Serendipity, or Plectrum has some rare disease that only 2 people have every been diagnosed with, the parent runs around saying they were gaslit.

Also the mental illness rate of millennials and Gen Z seems through the roof, so doctors are probably 90% right when they say it's psychological.

47 Thanks to Joe Biden and the Democrats it's just not worth it to buy a house now.

Your monthly mortgage payments will be almost double what they were at the end up Trump's term. It use to be assumed that at the end of a 30 year mortgage you'd end up paying like 150% of what the house's sale price was, you were actually under that under Trump. Now at the end of 30 years you'll have paid 225% of that sale price, not to mention how the today's $800,000 house was $250,000 in 2019.

I 100% agree, and yet it's still (at least in my cursory glance at the market near me) a better deal to get a mortgage, even a terrible mortgage, than to rent an intolerably crappy place for almost the same monthly payment. Maybe for me it's a combination of location and my own financial situation, so i can't say that's a universal maxim.

I see a Russian cryptomonger has died in a helicopter crash. It sure seems like a trend.

This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead.

200 In 2022, according to Maricopa County:

75.4% of Republicans turned out –– an increase from 2018

68.5% of Democrats turned out –– a decrease from 2018

Independent turnout was slightly down

There are more registered Republicans (1,436,852) than Democrats (1,270,544) in Arizona

Yet no R won!

I think so, Pixy, but if the globalists don’t want borders, why do they have Gates?

215 I haven't owned a Epson printer since the dot matrix days. I would translate their announcement to "We can't compete in the laser space". I guess ink jets have their place but my needs are for intermittent use, mostly black and white with non critical colors. Laser is a vastly superior option for my needs.

Same. The Brother laser printer I got a couple of years ago seems to be going strong. Inspector recommends Brother because the schools that had them never had a problem, unlike other brands.
