AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
9/6 – Jewells45 had bad news and needs prayers. Her CT scan indicated several nodes on her lungs, too many to count. It is very probable that she has lung cancer. Her husband is devastated, and she is scared to death.
10/5 Update - She is at stage 5 and has some in her bones, mostly around the spine and rib cage. Her doctor is phenomenal. He said he can’t cure her, but he can treat her and says she could live many more years. Treatment will involve chemo and immunotherapy.
10/6 Update – The PET scan of her bones was not nearly as bad as she feared. It should be manageable with radiation. She is very relieved!
10/8 Update – Jewells sends prayers for all her horde friends and continued thanks for your prayers. She is at stage 4, but the oncologist (who is fantastic) says it is treatable, and Jewells isn’t going anywhere for a while! Her brain MRI is 10/20 (prayers please, that this hasn’t spread). She gets her port put in on 10/17.

9/10 – Greyman27 requests prayers for his lumbar fusion surgery on 9/15, his third surgery in 19 years to fix low back/nerve issues. He is hopeful that this turns out to be the permanent fix his surgeon believe it will be.
10/19 Update – Greyman27 sends a sincere thank you for your prayers. The surgery went well, and the follow-ups have been very encouraging. He’s experienced excellent improvement over the last two weeks.

9/15 – SanFranpsycho asked for prayers for an immediate and speedy recovery for his cousin Phyllis, who was seriously injured in a fall this week at her assisted living center. She is almost 90 and lost her front teeth and broke her nose.
10/8 Update – Phyllis is out of skilled nursing and recovering back at her assisted living home. Her cognitive decline is noticeable.

9/17 – SanFranpsycho asks for prayers for complete and immediate healing of his friend Paul, who learned he has a malignant tumor on his pancreas. Paul has been his closest friend for his entire life – since the first day of kindergarten over 50 years ago.
10/8 Update – Paul has a port in and begins his first round of chemo next week. SanFranpsycho will visit him next month.

9/24 – Sua Sponte asked for prayers. His friend’s sister-in-law was murdered recently (domestic violence) and the rest of the family needs prayer. A fundraiser is available at https://www.gofundme.com/f/terry-chermak-funeral-and-domestic-abuse-fund. Sua Sponte sends his thanks for those people out there who pray.

9/25 – BurtTC and his wife could use some prayers, individually and for their marriage.
10/1 Update – they have separated.

10/1 – B has been managing heart disease for 17 years, and just has been diagnosed with liver cancer. He requests prayers for himself, his wife, and anyone who has suffered a double blow like this.

10/1 – Taqyia2Me needs prayers for his mother-in-law, Addie, and his wife Nora. Addie suffered a heart attack in late July, then fell and broker her arm in August. She also suffers from increasing memory loss. Nora was with her when she fell, and blames herself. Addie was in rehab for 4-5 weeks but was discharged last Monday. I pray for improvement. Nora is completely broken by this.

10/3 – Sarah Hoyt requested prayers for CACS, RES’s beloved spouse. “…the return of her cancer went undetected, and is now quite dangerous.” https://accordingtohoyt.com/2022/10/03/prayer-request/

10/4 SanFranpsycho asked for prayers for peace for Mrs. F., who is so upset that her dad is back in the hospital and may not recover.
10/8 Update – Mrs. F’s father is discharged home on hospice. They are hoping to make his exit peaceful and surrounded by family.
10/18 Update – Mrs. F’s father passed away on 10/17. Please pray for Mrs. F. and the kids, who lost their granddad.

10/9 – Teresa in FW asked for prayers for Rebecca, who will be staying with them, as she undergoes a hip replacement.

10/10 – B asked for prayers that he would be able to save his granddaughter, Adriana Grace. She has been repeatedly abused by her parents, and B is fighting the State of TN to save her.

10/12 – 496 asked for prayers. His wife is closing on a condo and they will be moving her out over the next 2 days. She will need strength going forward as she navigates living alone. They have been together for 20+ years, and neither of them is all that happy about the split.

10/13 – Count de Monet could use prayers for healing from Bell’s Palsy. His symptoms are moderate or more. He is thankful for God’s protection and blessings, and the power of prayer.

10/13 – Nurse Ratched asked for prayers for Marine Ratched, who had a back injury.

10/14 – Madamemayhem asked for prayers for T and family, as T’s sister (aged 63) literally dropped dead.

10/19 – Ellipses (… requests prayers for a friend, Bev. She has been through the wringer for the last 10 years, only to end up with breast cancer last year, which is being treated, and now… she needs a kidney. She is basically reduced to asking around for one, which doesn’t work well. Any prayers you can put up for her situation would be appreciated.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

My plan is to drop in on the Pet Thread a little earlier this p.m. In the meantime, those of you in Corsicana, enjoy yourselves! Maybe I'l be able to make it next year!

55 In the last thread there was lots of talk of cheating, how voting doesn't matter, etc., and yes, all of that may come to pass.

But we have to play out this hand. There is always a chance that things will work out. The Enemy wants us to give up, to sulk and stay home and then say "I told you so!" when the defeat we engineered takes place.

The other temptation is to give into wrath and "accelerate" things. The system is under great strain and could break, but we must move forward with faith and hope against that chance.

I freely admit that I have had some very bad days over the past couple of years, and even over the last few weeks. The thought of Prop 3 passing in Michigan torments me, but I have to trust in God that if it passes, it's because only the spectacle of watching the grisly result will bring us to our senses.

When women realize they can't sue doctors because "reproductive health" is a protected right immune from state regulation, things will change. The Enemy's victories are always temporary.

Downstate Michigan has an accent, but it is almost impossible to replicate because it is so inconsistent. We've randomly decided to crush certain vowel sounds for some reason. Merry, marry, and Mary are all pronounced the same, as are ant and aunt.

My wife's Appalachian accent has flattened over 20 years, but still comes back when she is pissed. My kids have it and I've adopted much of the vocabulary.

87 Two mother deer, each with a yearling fawn come by the place every morning and night. If Buckley the gravitationally augmented dog is outside, he will run after them out to the fence line while they go bounding off in various directions. He always stops at the driveway gate. The deer will stop once they are outside the fence. Occasionally they will run back past him and once one even leaped right over his head. They know he is harmless and they are actually playing with him.

If he is not outside, they will come up tto the front porch steps and look in thee window while he "woofs". In fact he's starting a soft woof right now, I'll bet they are out in the front yard as I type this.

Much of the viciousness in contemporary society comes from people who will not grant forgiveness because they can't forgive themselves.

If you can admit you made a mistake, you can admit other people do as well. But if you never do anything wrong, than other people who do are stupid and terrible and must be mocked.

This in turns leads to them fearing admitting being wrong because they would then be mocked. A vicious little cycle.

176 I have a prayer request. I have to have a meeting this afternoon with my off site supervisor and the church. The church is small and has little money (They can probably make it till February) but unlike some other denominations they have to vote to close. They don't want to close and our patriarch has been there since he was baptized 91 years ago except when he was in the Navy in the Korean War. We have a song in our hymnal -"The Church is not a building, the church is not a steeply. The church is a peoplle-which is true of course, but If you've spent so much time worshipping God in that place and been baptized, confirmed and seen married your kids and granchildren there and buried your parents and husband or wife from the same place the idea of the church closing is gut wrenching. It is for me too as I love them and it's a beautiful church.

Thanks.

So I don't know what to ask for prayer for-Just that we feel the presence of God and His direction and perhaps get some alternatives to closing if it's God's will

187 It is a great day here in Las Cruces. Perfect fall day with a high of 80 degrees. The day kicks off with a trip to the Saturday Market (seriously, it punches way above its class), for fresh Mesilla Valley produce and some dog watching. Next is a tour through the Las Cruces Lion's gun show at the convention center. These are always a red alert wallet event. And to round things out is the number 1 HS football team in NM, our own Centennial squaring off against some victim.

Until yesterday I could have added New Mexico State hosting San Jose State, but the football game was canceled/postponed because one of the SJSU players ran a stop light while riding a skateboard and got run over by a bus. 199 Accents in West Virginia vary north to south and east to west. My wife is from a tiny town in the western part of the state not far from the Ohio River. She's got a twang and uses certain words for things that I never have. For example, a shopping cart is a "buggy" to her. Her accent is southern-ish with those various words dropped in her vocabulary.

Foster's accent in SotL was pretty bad in comparison to the way "most" West Virginian's speak. To be sure, some, especially those that have remained in the hills all their lives have a language all their own.

I'm sure its very difficult. Our diocese has gone through two realignments in the last 20 years and the most recent one was very deliberate and contemplative.

One of our local parishes was slated for closure and due to Covid they accelerated that, holding the final Mass while Covid restrictions (and fear) were still widespread. That meant many of the older parishioners could not attend.

How is it all structured? Are they able to get assistance from other congregations?

225 Muldoon--

The only British actor I've seen nail a regional American accent is Jeremy Northam in "Happy, Texas." As a lifelong Texan, I was amazed he had the accent down without overdoing it, which is what normally happens. That's pretty remarkable considering he's the son of Cambridge University professors.

I've never seen "House" but I know a lot of people are surprised to find out that Hugh Laurie is British. (I know him as Bertie Wooster.) Don't know about his accent but obviously it's pretty convincing.

It's what autocrats do.

I went back to Disqus for two days, what I discovered is there are security state fluffing retards still that insult you when you point out arresting reporters is bad.

Here in America so we are not evil like Xi we do not arrest former party leaders, we just raid their houses and subpoena them at random.

230 Nancy Pelosi is the #1 consequentially bad US politician of the last 50 years. Worse than Biden, worse than Obama.

She's done a lot of bad in the open, and even more behind the scenes, and god knows what in the dark.

She's a classic narcisstic sociopath. These types are often drawn to politics when they don't have the talent to be an entertainer.

236 I think the bad American accent thing is more noticeable in Brit productions (BBC, Masterpiece, Acorn) with predominantly British cast and a single American character than in American productions with British actors (such as the above-mentioned House) playing Americans in a largely American cast.

At least in my experience.

The funny thing is if anything the film understates how crazy and gallows humor driven the period was.

One lesson I had forgotten from the time, that the film reminded me of that seems rather topical given the events here the last 3 years- economically Khrushchev was the most successful soviet leader so far as growth and delivery of honest felt gains to the public....

It did not matter.

I caved and bought Solo in UHD for 6.99 on sale once....it sat unwatched in my queue for 2 years.

So one night with a good stir crazy popcorn machine to break in I watched it.

To put things in context I have wanted a Solo film since 77, I read the Han Solo adventures as a child and those stories were an awesome example of his growth from shady freebooter to the baby steps towards anti-hero to become eventually the redeemed hero we see at the end of Ep IV.

Solo was a supporting character in "his" own film.

Fuck Kennedy.

Yes! La Posta is fabuloso. One of the best seats in the restaurant was in the back bar. In one corner was a bar height seat made out of adobe and it always made the food taste better. They sadly have the back bar closed right now and because of this I have the sads.

The Owl Cafe! My first time there was right before Christmas and the staff was pulling down the Christmas Charity donations (these were dollars stuck to the walls). The just piled the cash on a few tables and that was the beginning and end of their security. That was one of the reasons I moved to NM. How can you not be in love with this place after that. I rate this as 1000% true having lived in El Paso years ago. Las Cruce, Hatch, that area has great places for green chiles. I love a stacked enchilada with g\pork green chile gravy and a runny fried egg on top. Actually got one a couple of months ago at a restaurant in Alamosa, CO. I was leery about whether they could pull it off NM style, but it was authentic and delicious.

263 Just ran across this

http://www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk/index.htm

Welcome to the Preparing for Emergencies website

In an effort to worry the public and convince them to vote for us again next year, and because George Bush asked us to, this website includes the common sense advice found in the Preparing for Emergencies booklet, and information on what the government is doing to protect the country as a whole. (Hint: we're praying really, really hard.) National editions of the booklet will be available here when we can be arsed to get translators to put them into your crazy moon languages.

From 2nd August, translations of the booklet into 16 languages will be available on this website. They will be in : Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Kurdish, Punjabi, Somali, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese and Welsh. In the meantime, just assume that we don't care about you.

You will also be able to order copies of the booklet in audio tape, large print, and Braille formats. We wouldn't have bothered, but Blunkett insisted.
