The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

This is nothing more than Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer spoken by a degenerate apparatchik who stumbled upon his turn at the ultimate political trough of power and graft. Biden has no coherent political philosophy other than the overwhelming desire for power over others, and that is a stark, obvious, axiomatic contrast with the founding principles of The United States of America.

Ignoring the mediocre writing and the angry, one dimensional and hectoring tone, it is an image of a country that is a complete departure from that which most Americans desire. We still hang on to the vestiges of American Exceptionalism, and one of its tenets -- perhaps its bedrock -- is individualism. From that springs the revolutionary concept of freedom from the control of others and the liberty to act in one's own best interest.

I want to be very clear up front: not every Republican is a MAGA Republican. Not every Republican embraces that extreme ideology. I know because I've been able to work with mainstream Republicans my whole career. But the extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress have chosen to go backwards, full of anger, violence, hate and division. But together, we can and we must choose a different path forward. No, I really mean it. We have to. The future of unity, of hope, of optimism. We're going to choose to build a better America! A better America!

The overt calls for an emotive and amorphous change in America is chilling in its focus on the body politic as unified. It is hugely important to the structure of our political process that we are not unified. We are a constitutional republic, and the rights of the minority are carefully protected. The dismissal and vilification of that minority (even granting that the Biden junta won) is simply a call for the destruction of our country as founded.

Sadly, that political minority...the people we elected to represent and defend our interests...have abrogated all responsibility for the preservation of the political structure that is designed to protect our freedom. Instead of mounting a vigorous defense of that structure, and a rousing frontal attack on the Biden junta's attempts at destroying our freedoms, they triangulate and obfuscate and play tactical political games for short-term success, ignoring the existential danger to our republic.

The really pathetic part of this sordid and disgusting chapter in our history is that it would be so very, very easy to present to the American people an alternative to our descent into socialist, communitarian hell. A simple explanation of why government control is sucking the liberty out of our country, replete with examples from around the world is too complicated for our current crop of politicians? Any reasonably well-read adult should be able to defend free markets and our constitution with very little effort.

That McConnell and McCarthy are not in front of the cameras every single day, dismantling every socialist program that the junta proposes or rams down our throats is a clear indication of their true political philosophy...that of corrupt grifters who seek personal power and wealth over any other goal...including the freedom of the American people.

They actually resent the idea that the people interfered with their scheme by electing Trump, who is not in the uniparty. The idea that an actual patriot can be elected to the Presidency is an existential threat. It means that they may never be rid of that type of president in the Future. Only "good Republicans" should be allowed to run for President, you see.

Remaking a national political party in America takes time. Just getting an outsider into the presidency was never enough, not when Mitch still had tight control on what got to the Senate floor.

The left isn't doing politics anymore, they are doing revolution. Their alinsky tactics are designed for scorched earth. Not only do they not wish to persuade, or reason, they wish to alienate their opposition to the point where reasoned debate is impossible. That task has been accomplished. All that is left now is the execution of the will to power. Trump isn't doing politics either. He's doing counter revolution. And they know it. Its freaks them out. The Gope stooges are freaking out because they also know he isn't doing politics anymore, but counter revolution. (that's what they mean by "mean tweets".) He's turning the lefts revolutionary tactics on the left. Their main complaint is that he'll blow up the system, which feeds them. The system, as operating is broken. Populism is the only method to available to break the uniparty. Take it or leave it.

Yes.
Unfortunately, for the Turtle and Friends, their best actual option is for "MAGA" and Trump to win.
For guys that always yammer on about their legacy, that legacy is sure to be remembered with the same fondness as Vichy and Benedict Arnold receive.

If MAGA/Trump wins, and they help in dismantling the Biden fascist state and restoring the economy and culture. They will be remembered as heroes.

If MaGA/Trump wins and they oppose, but MAGA/Trump still triumph, they will be remembered as traitors, pawns of China and Davos, and the worst of their generation,

If MAGA/Trump loses and the Democrats/Biden wins and accomplishes their goals, well then, they have no use any longer for the likes of Turtle and McCarthy. They be cast off as horrible semi-fascist Republicans and traitors and land in the camps/prison.

Prior to that ? Individualism was only encouraged as our trump card over Soviet style uniformity during the Cold War. But even then, it was individual effort in support of the collective goal. Never individuality for the sake of pleasing the individual. That I've never seen supported, in any numbers, socially or politically.

We, and pretty much everyone who showed up at the Capitol on J6, and President Trump (if I may presume) were essentially asking Congress to hold the phone and not "Certify" under conditions suggesting extreme shenanigans, unless or until there was some actual (expedited) vetting of the vote. The whole freaking point was to ascertain the vote, not "overturn" it.

Yet the whole "overturn the election" narrative has gone almost completely unquestioned, been repeated 1000 times, and is now part of the ingrained understanding of 50+% of the electorate.

Manufacturing used to the giant companies in the US and along with their employees could make sure the US did not screw itself in negotiations. The only way we can have "free trade", and not lose by default, is with other nation-states with very similar standards of living. Trade with any nation state with a lower standard of living must, by definition, eventually lower our standard while raising theirs. Great for them, not for us. There is no other nation with a higher standard of living than us, so there is no up-side, long term, for our standard of living when it comes to international "free trade".

210 Well said on this CBD:
"A simple explanation of why government control is sucking the liberty out of our country, replete with examples from around the world is too complicated for our current crop of politicians? Any reasonably well-read adult should be able to defend free markets and our constitution with very little effort."

One of Ayn Rand's principles was that people have to get to the point where they don't "sanction" the guilt that the Left uses on it's victims (us).

Nearly all of the plays in the Left's playbook rely on good people accepting the guilt trip they are using. You MUST feel guilty for your hard earned success, for the sins of long dead slave holders, for the homeless, for your privledge (of being born white - and in America), etc, etc.

I think any politician who can articulate the reasons why people should not automatically accept this guilt, and why there is virtue in our country, system, and people (as founded) will change hearts and minds.

It's like we need an "Educator Of The People In Chief" to give provide the guidance and clarity they didn't get in their woke classrooms.

224 The only way we can have "free trade", and not lose by default, is with other nation-states with very similar standards of living. Trade with any nation state with a lower standard of living must, by definition, eventually lower our standard while raising theirs. Great for them, not for us. There is no other nation with a higher standard of living than us, so there is no up-side, long term, for our standard of living when it comes to international "free trade".
Posted by: Way Huge at September 07, 2022 11:42 AM (gy1wP)

Not just this, but also very very few other nations would not monkey with their tariffs to give themselves competitive advantage. Like with immigration, we are the only country on earth expected to just lie back and think of England.

231 Actually, support for Tariffs was one of the Reasons the Republican party came into existence. One of the triggers for Civil War 1 was the 'Tax' Policies using Tariffs, that affected Southern States much more than Northern States....

Posted by: Romeo13
True, but that was mostly the predecessor Whig party. Democrats, who were agarians particularly in the South needed international markets to sell their excess agri products and wanted to buy cheap goods abroad rather than employing Yankees.

Most of politics is who gets what policy from the political process. The Whig party relied on nationalism to keep together which is why they picked generals and that meant tariffs and import restrictions.

I think this is largely true. I agree with whig that there really is no such think as international law governing trade but there are trade deals between nations that set rules.

We allowed globalists in DC to sign absurd multi-nation deals that without exception worked to our detriment. One of the more important things Trump did, and the globalists hated him for, was beginning to renegotiate some of those deals to level the playing field. China can no longer ship steel to Canada and then import it into the US as low cost Canadian steel.

If you travel around the world one thing you don't see a lot of is US cars and trucks. It's not just because our products are inferior or unions, it's because there are huge tariffs.

The New Dems past 1968 embraced communism and socialism (see Ted Kennedy for example) while the GOP adopted the more damaging parts of the former Democrat party--pointless nonexistential wars and promoting Wall Street over Main Street through cheap labor, excessive deficit spending, and letting Wall Street run wild.

287 I'm in favor of limited government, almost to a fault. Any protectionist policies should be limited in scope and time, otherwise, you just end up with another political fiefdom and entrenched interests warping the market to their ends. Government does nothing well should be a guiding principle in all policy frameworks.

But you can't ignore every other nation state on the planet. None of them are believers in limited government. None. So we're going to have to do one of two things; either embrace government intervention in our international dealings with other nation states or continue to get robbed blind.

In International matters, we'd be best embracing protectionism, because every else is doing it as well, to our detriment. In Domestic matters, however, we should leave the citizens to do commerce as they wish. It really is that simple.

At a minimum they should be required to announce, publicly, how much their family's wealth increased during their most recent term of office. They should then be required, should that amount exceed their Congressional salary and whatever their spouse might earn, to explain where that money came from.

After retirement, this should continue and any sudden jumps in wealth should be confiscated. After all, they need to pay their fair share.

I guarantee you that that particular judge did not do the necessary skullsweat to pump out a 49 page opinion on the case. Well, mostly its only J. Xiden. TBF, he also believed them when they said Hillary was going to blow out Trump. So at least he's consistent.

352 Yes an over simplified position but Free Trade should be the default position and tariffs should only be used as a response to unfair trade practices. That includes state subsidized products. It shouldn't be used as protectionism or to balance trade IMHO.

If your country buys $1 Trillion in goods from a nation, but only sells $1 Billion in goods to that nation ? Keep it up for very long, and that other nation will own you. Even if their practices are fair. You damn well better institute protectionism - or you won't remain an independent country for long. You'll be their servant.

353 By this theory western Europe benefits from cutting off imports of Russian oil and gas.

Posted by: Red Turban Someguy

In the long run yes, Europe has quite a bit of nat gas reserves available via fracking and coal that can be used for energy. Plus nukes. The reliance on Russia was simply stupidity.

354 It’s still 8 weeks to go and that is a long time in politics. But as of now it is not looking good. And pretending otherwise does nobody any good.

So, since I'm assuming you're pushing reverse psychology to get R voters to vote and to not let them assume anything will just happen if they don't put in the work - I applaud you.

But, don't push the reverse psychology so far as to take bets on your thoughts to get out our votes, b/c you'll be going bankrupt in November...

357 Further given that McConnell is the most disliked person in congress, would people vote for anyone he supports?

It would be the kiss of death.

359 282 Can someone from Florida please tell me what exactly Crist did as the Governor of Florida to make some people want him back again?
Posted by: FenelonSpoke at September 07, 2022 11:42 AM (wvo9L)

Not living in Florida any longer, but I can tell you he was popular for not doing much. I recollect he brought electronic tolling to the Turnpike, but I can't recall anything else.
Posted by: Huck Follywood at September 07, 2022 11:53 AM (/QZJ1)

Charlie was popular for being a do nothing lying grifter with his lips super-glued to Big Real Estate's backside.

The only people that want him back would vote for Adolph himself if he was on the Democrat ticket.

Charlie is dead meat on toast. Whatever poll that has him -4 to Ronaldus Maximus II is utter garbage.

More like -40.

Yup. I mean in theory free trade sounds great. Frankly they sold me. Clearly tho, since Nafta, things have not gone well at all. You could make an argument that it is better for the investor class. However that argument focuses mainly on short term evaluations. The Country as a whole is weaker. Dependent and at risk, from supply chain issues alone. We lose manufacturing, we lose skills, we become dependent. Which would matter less if the world were one big happy family under one government. It is, however, not. It is a multiparty complex, dynamic, adverse party system, which is most efficient if each player tries to maximize its own safety, security and trade efficiency, that incentivizes cooperative arrangements where parties maximize their long term gains, but fitting reciprocal needs into trade agreements.

362 The only poll that counts is the one done on election day... or used to anyway. Every poll done prior to a week out is a push poll and should be ignored

363 His is actually correct... we want the old America back. The one that freed the slaves and gave women the vote. The one that LEFT US ALONE unless we did something nasty. The one that did not tell us to wear masks, or order us to get Experimental Gene Therapy shots. The one that did not PUSH Racism on us, nor force us to Celebrate Queers. The one that PUNISHED Men for using Ladies bathrooms, not the women who complained about it.

Yeah, I want my old America back you fucktards. If the future is Transexuals telling me to take a Gene Therapy shot, enforced by 87,000 new IRS agents WITH GUNS?

Yeah. I'll take the old America.

365 here are no real rules in international law--only what individual countries can enforce using its own military and economic power.
Manufacturing used to the giant companies in the US and along with their employees could make sure the US did not screw itself in negotiations. Retail became the big giants and retailers don't really care where the product comes from as long as they get their vig. Ditto for finance industry--they make money on international cash flows with less risk than loaning the money themselves anymore.

368 90 years ago a "documentary" was made on the "wonderful" things done by The Socialist Workers's Party. It had men from all over the country say "1 people, 1 country, 1 leader". By their very distinct accents you knew they were from "diverse" areas; like a Queens, Bklin, Bronx accent of 70 years ago.
The proper American translation of the name is - The Triumph of the COLLECTIVE Will. Most Americans leave COLLECTIVE out.

As with most "documentaries" it was propaqanda!
