Biden Signs "Inflation Reduction Act" While Media Lies To Cover For Him

Last week Biden claimed that an 8.5% monthly inflation rate was a 0% inflation rate, just because it hadn't increased from the previous month's 8.5% inflation rate.

This makes as much sense as doing 115 mph on the highway and when the cop pulls you over, saying, "Officer, I wasn't speeding. I did not increase my speed all through that straightaway. Therefore my net speed was zero miles per hour."

Change in the rate of speed is not speed; it is acceleration.

And "No net change in inflation" does not mean there's a zero percent rate of inflation. It means it did not change from its high rate. Biden can claim, for a month, there was no acceleration in the ever-increasing price of goods and services on his watch, but not that there was no change in prices.

There was a change. 8.5% of a change, in fact.

Biden lied, and the media carried water for him.

But they're truth tellers!

As Joe Concha reports, they skipped the whole "fact-checking" aspect of their corrupt grifter business, despite this being one of the major stories of last week.

"I just want to say a number: zero. Today, we received news that our economy had zero inflation in the month of July. Zero percent. Here's what that means: While the price of some things go up -- went up last month, the price of other things went down by the same amount. The result? Zero inflation last month."

That was President Biden speaking to the country Wednesday. His administration has attempted to redefine what infrastructure means (it's not only about improving roads, bridges and power grids but also about paid family leave and child care) and what a recession means (it's not two straight quarters of negative gross domestic product growth anymore). But it just moved into the lead to win the "Lie of the Year" award with the claim that the U.S. economy is experiencing zero inflation.

The facts: Inflation still stands near a 40-year high and came in at 8.5 percent in July.

"Prices have risen across a wide range of goods and services, leaving most Americans worse off," The Associated Press reported this week. "Average paychecks are rising faster than they have in decades -- but not fast enough to keep up with accelerating costs for such items as food, rent, autos and medical services."

In other words, the money coming into the average household still isn't keeping up with the cost of everyday items. But the president and this administration decided to turn the most basic economic norms on their head for cheap political gain by arguing that since the inflation rate fell by six-tenths of a percentage point to 8.5 percent in July compared to the same month of last year, that somehow means zero percent.

As a fun game to play on a summer weekend, imagine what would have happened if the previous president attempted to spin numbers with alternative facts in this fashion. The U.S. media would have screamed about the need for transparency and truth, and the fact checks and scathing editorials would commence. Yet that didn't happen here with his successor.

A check of Politifact shows that the site has not conducted a fact check of the president's zero inflation claim since he made it five days ago. It has fact-checked former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on three occasions this month, however.

Fact-checker Snopes also has not fact-checked Biden's zero inflation claim. And as for FactCheck.org, same result: Crickets on the president's economic argument.

How about The New York Times? Surely at least one columnist has put pen to paper to hold the Biden administration accountable on the issue that ranks as Americans' top concern.

Biden just signed the bill he also lies about, calling it an "Inflation Reduction Act," even though analysts say it will not reduce inflation.

I'm just listening now. He comes on around 48:00. He is slurring his words, dropping consonants like they're Jeffrey Toobin contracts, and doing that alternating YELLING LIKE A RACIST OLD MAN WHO THINKS THE JAMAICAN NURSE STOLE HIS PILLS and harsh pervy whispering like Aqualung offering his hot crusty bumpy lap to Ashley.

And I have to stress, he is randomly YELLING things. He is just YELLING random words withOUT regard to whether they HAVE any particular RELEVANCE or impact to THE message.

It is obvious THAT -- THAT! -- he does not UNDERstand the words on the telePROMPter that he is seeING for the FIRST time SO he does not KNOW what is imporTANT and what IS not, FOLKS, FOLKS, I'm serious, his mind is tunafish with too much mayoNAISE!!! It's too squishy wet and SLOPPY!!!

32 Change in the rate of speed is not speed; it is acceleration.

And "No net change in inflation" does not mean there's a zero percent rate of inflation. It means it did not change from its high rate. Biden can claim, for a month, there was no acceleration in the ever-increasing price of goods and services on his watch, but not that there was no change in prices. - Ace

And just like that we all know calculus. Well done.

So in other words, biden just "forgave" $4B student loan debt for Democrat voters (education degrees, etc.) right before the payment moratorium ends right before the midterms and will likely be the Republican-controlled Congress' albatross, next year.

They had this timed perfectly.

Well, let's see. For the CPI-U:
June, 2021: 271.696
July, 2021: 273.003 (+0.48% month-on-month)

June, 2022: 296.311 (+9.06% year-on-year)
July, 2022: 296.276 (-0.01% month-on-month; +8.52% year-on-year)

So the modest - very modest, statically noise - retreat combined with the fairly robust move in the equivalent period last year means that year-over-year inflation fell by almost half a point as compared to the year-over-year comparison for last month, but is also still running at greater than 8% and this reprieve is unlikely to last with producer prices still skyrocketing uncontrolled. When energy turns back up, look the hell out.

Already seeing it here. Real estate prices are just about back to pre-bubble levels. Nice stuff is starting to stay on the market and get reduced. Vehicle inventories are back, and prices are falling.

This isn't good for the economy in general, but if you've got cash, might be time to use a little bit of it. I'm strongly considering it.

The real LIV are people that seldom vote because they are in ghettos, rural backwaters, and hidden in the cracks in suburbia. Most of them are too busy hustling to make a living and too busy to pay attention to the news. That is who has not been turning out in elections.

College educated will vote with certainty regardless of their actual information level and they are proportionately more of the electorate than they were. They vote occasionally in our system because parties themselves are the major actors in who gets turned out. Obama in 2008 was probably an exception and Trump turned them out in 2020 as no previous incumbent had ever been beat who increased their vote totals from their first election. GOP in general does not want these voters turned out because they are not small government types and often dislike corporations and Democrats have largely abandoned them to rely on welfare urbanites and wealthy/high ses voters.

I may be wrong, but this does not look correct.

If inflation for the month was stable at 8.0%, then prices would have risen 8% divided by twelve (advanced down the road that much). But the prices did not increase at all. So it decelerated to zero ... for one month.

that is why they look at year long periods, but lower energy is a good thang, except it happened (perhaps) because they are killing the economy.

Barack Obama also had 30 million pages of records from his administration transported to Chicago, where he promised he would digitize them and put them online.

The Obama Foundation estimates that 95% of Obama administration records were “born digital,” meaning they could very easily be released online. And, in 2017, the Obama Foundation announced it would fund the digitization of the records that were not already digital. However, over five years after his presidency ended, the National Archives webpage shows that no pages have been digitized or disclosed yet.
