The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I was embarrassed. My neighbors saw the whole thing – guys in these police vests standing in my yard. I was really uncomfortable." The homeowner, who did not want his name used

Perhaps a Moron attorney can or will correct me. But, my attitude of any LEO uninvited in my yard is: If you don't have a warrant, get out and get out now.

Quote II

"If you're buying a new one, you have to realize there is no second-hand market right now because the manufacturers are not supporting the cars," Ray Siwinksi

Quote III

"When you're the leader, there's only one direction to go, especially when a large amount of competition launches, which is what Netflix has seen in the last couple of years,"
Guy Bisson, executive director at Ampere Analysis

Quote IV

"It’s hard to see how they can wriggle out of being charged with a HIPAA violation,"Abner Weintraub, longtime HIPAA compliance consultant

Black woman married to a heavy hitter Dem. Nothing will happen to her.

Quote V

The science is unambiguous in terms of the level of threat, in terms of the lives and livelihoods that America and the world stand to lose if we don't accelerate our action. And I don't think we should be following the lead of India and China. I think countries like India and China should be challenged to follow the lead of the United States leading the way on climate.”Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg

Quote VI

“I still wish I didn’t get it, to be honest with you. But you gotta do what you gotta do, you know?” NBA player Andrew Wiggins

Quote VII

Does a bear shit in the woods? Not always.

A Tofino resident thought her vehicle was malfunctioning when the horn and lights started going off, but instead there was a surprise waiting for her.

Stephanie Hannay first heard her vehicle horn sounding around 10:30 p.m. Saturday outside her home.

When she peeked outside, everything seemed normal.

“I went to bed and was woken up at 2 a.m. by the horn going off again,” she said.

She grabbed her keys and went to see what was going on.

“I opened the driver-side door and this head pops out in the back seat and it’s just a bear. I couldn’t believe it.”

Student loan forgiveness. Sorry Stevie, I'm just not feeling it.

Young Attorney Has $347,000 In Student Loan Debt, No Job, And Lives On Welfare
If $10,000 of his loans were forgiven as President Joe Biden proposed, it will not change things for him.

There has been a lot of talk about the Great Resignation, where employees now have more leverage when it comes to obtaining jobs and negotiating salaries due to a labor shortage. But not everyone has benefited from this, and one young lawyer is struggling with what appears to be an unfathomable debt load.

Business Insider featured Steve, a 2017 graduate of the Seattle University School of Law. Steve grew up in a working-class family and became a social worker after graduating college. He said he was frequently advised by attorneys and those around him that pursuing a law degree would leave him well off.

I hate bipartisanship, don't you? Republicans Negotiate with Democrats on Illegal Alien Farmworker Amnesty

A group of mostly west coast Republicans is negotiating with Democrats on a plan to give amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens who work on United States farms.

A report from National Public Radio (NPR) details how Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) is working with Sen. Michael Bennett (D-CO) on finalizing another version of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act to provide green cards, and eventually naturalized American citizenship, to as many as 2.1 million illegal aliens working on U.S. farms.

What a shame this little ophidian didn't receive the Ashli Babbitt treatment.

During a Wednesday congressional hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee on banning so-called assault weapons, gun control activist David Hogg had to be escorted out by police for his outburst interrupting the hearing. The officer lets Hogg carry on for a moment before making him leave, as she tugs on his arm to remove him while he still shouts out his remarks.

No disrespect Congresswoman. But, big fvcking whoop.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, the House Republican conference chair, said this weekend that the GOP will investigate the Biden family if they clinch a majority in Congress during the midterms.

The New York Republican was speaking during a Sunday appearance on Fox News program "Life, Liberty & Levin," where she said a Republican-led House would hold the Biden administration "accountable."

Stefanik accused President Joe Biden and his son Hunter of having "illegal ties to crime" and "relationships with other foreign adversaries, and entities that he should not be involved with," but didn't provide substantiation.

When Texas or Arizona requests help the NE Libs sneer at them. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

Adams released a statement on Tuesday demanding "federal resources immediately" to address the influx of migrants.

The statement said New York City has experienced a "sharp increase" of migrants heading to the city, with more than 2,800 entering the city's shelter system. By city law, individuals without a home are obligated to a bed provided by the city.

Thanks General Motors.

The Biden administration — and President Joe Biden in particular — has favored General Motors over Tesla when it comes to electric vehicle manufacturing.

During this year’s State of the Union speech, for example, Biden said, “GM is making the largest investment in its history — $7 billion to build electric vehicles, creating 4,000 jobs in Michigan.” He didn’t mention Tesla once.

That’s not going to be a good look now that GM announced it’s latest investment in electric vehicle production will be south of the border.

Earlier this year Elon Musk of Tesla fame stated that working from home is no longer necessary and those that do are slackers.

The world’s richest man doubled down when he confirmed the memo’s authenticity on Twitter, writing that remote workers “should pretend to work somewhere else.”

As it turns out, remote workers really are pretending to work quite a lot, but pretending to work is hard work.

New data from Qatalag and GitLab puts a number on it: Knowledge workers waste an extra 67 minutes online each day doing menial tasks for the express purpose of proving to their managers and colleagues that they’re available and working.

To hell with the Kung Flu.

Bride-to-be is going ahead with her 16K dream wedding this weekend despite testing positive for Covid-19, after seeking advice on online forum Mumsnet.
Even though she did not show any symptoms, the bride-to-be tested positive during routine testing as part of her workplace’s precautions against the further spread of the virus. In an online post on Mumsnet she outlined her predicament:

“I am getting married on Sunday and having a large wedding with 80 day guests and an additional 100 at night. We have spent around 16k on the wedding and I have contacted my insurance provider and they are telling me I am not covered as current guidance would allow me to go ahead”.

On the bright side he didn't stick "it" in crazy.

After getting stood up, she finally got her date — in court.

A Michigan woman is raising eyebrows online after suing a man for $10,000 for — wait for it — standing her up on a date. A clip of the wild virtual hearing — during which the scorned woman got into a heated shouting match with the judge — is currently blowing up online.

The woman, named QaShontae Short, had reportedly filed a lawsuit back in 2020, in which she alleged that Richard Jordan “did not show and left on her mother’s birthday and her mom had just passed away,” per legal docs obtained by TMZ.

Typical government.

The U.S. Postal Service will order more than twice the number of electric vehicles initially projected for its new fleet, the agency announced Wednesday.

The move follows months of controversy after the Postal Service initially sought to make about 10 percent of its fleet electric. Now it plans to make at least 40 percent of its fleet electric.

The Postal Service said in a statement it adjusted the fleet’s Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement to include more electric vehicles under the current contract. The Postal Service is targeting a purchase of at least 25,000 electric vehicles, it said.

Unicorns are quite excited! Never mind Quote II.

I'm not sure who the Genius Award Winner.

Imagine one day noticing your dog has been acting a little off. You will surely come up with a solid explanation for its changed behavior, and it probably won’t seem like a very big deal. Now the scenario takes a twisted turn when you find out it’s not even your dog you’ve been living with for the past 4 months. 121 days. 2904 hours.

This is a real story that happened to one Redditor and loving owner of a shepherd/Newf mutt named Emma. After getting Emma’s hair cut, the Redditor SecretSpud noticed she’d been acting very strange. “Physically, she was identical but mentally she was not there,” the author wrote.

And then there is this story...........Unfortunately he's not a Posthumous
Genius Award Winner.

However, every year we get incidents like this video. Watch as this tourist inexplicably decides to approach too close to a bison. Not only does he get too close, he decides to SNEAK UP on the animal from behind where it can't see him. It's a bad idea, and you can guess what happens next when the buffalo detects his personal space being invaded.

Taking his marriage vows seriously. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Kevin Harvey was having a “hell of a job” pushing his wife’s wheelchair up the hills of New Plymouth’s Coastal Walkway.

So he took her wheelchair and welded it to the front of one of his homemade electric bikes.

The five-wheeled vehicle features disk brakes, a seatbelt, and curved front forks, which Kevin claims is the secret to stopping the wheelchair going into the air every time the handlebars are turned.

87 Perhaps a Moron attorney can or will correct me. But, my attitude of any LEO uninvited in my yard is: If you don't have a warrant, get out and get out now.

Just my opinion of course, but I think the homeowner did the best thing under the circumstances. If he had gone all hardass and said "Come back with a warrant" that's exactly what the cops would have done. And then instead of an embarrassing but brief encounter, they would have been in his house and all up in his ass looking for anything, no matter how trivial, to bust him on.

88 Years ago I saw a chart of distribution of attorney salaries.
Basically, you have a steady climb up to around $80k.
Then a cliff until around $200k.

Something like 70% of all attorneys are stuck behind that cliff. And will be their entire career. Because it's real easy to fire the 35 year old for a new grad.
But, those top salaries climb so high, it distorts the average so much, law schools still are able to exist conning out doctorate degrees for undergrad, in reality for most, future wages.

A tiny red smudge caught in the distant background of the James Webb Space Telescope's first 'deep field' image could transform our understanding of the early universe, astronomers say.

The inconspicuous blob is an ancient, unnamed galaxy that is 13.1 billion years old — only several hundred million years younger than the birth of the universe. Of all the galaxies captured in the image, it is the furthest away from Earth."

Tourist traps are by and large okay. The really blatant ones are to laugh.

Many of the others have an air of wistful earnestness about them. There used to be a replica of the world's largest load of logs on a horse-drawn sled in Ewen, MI. We would see it alongside the road every time we drove to and from my Dad's parents' home in Wisconsin.

https://www.vintag.es/2021/01/load-of-logs.html

It is now gone after having rotted to the point of being dangerous to the local kids who would climb on it. It is sad to think that it no longer is there.

305 >>Perhaps a Moron attorney can or will correct me. But, my attitude of any LEO uninvited in my yard is: If you don't have a warrant, get out and get out now.

Depends on the community, depends on the neighborhood.

I live in a borderline neighborhood teetering on the brink. As long as there are enough people like myself living here who care, and as long as the local constabulary is willing to support us, my neighborhood can be a good neighborhood.

The minute the rest of my neighbors stop caring, or, God forbid, my neighborhood has a "St. Floyd"
moment, and the police abandon us, all of that changes.

So, if it were to happen that I were to find myself in similar circumstances, I would not be asking for a search warrant or demanding that the police vacate my premises, BUT, I would make sure that the rank and file on my property knew that I had no respect whatsoever for their political masters, and a large level of contempt for their chain of command, all of whom serve those unworthy masters, and I would encourage them to share that information through their union or whatever channel was available to them.

I've seen the "Ice Mine" in Coudersport, Pennsylvakia in my youth... It was closed for years, but is now open again!

It's a natural cave with real ice inside but only in the summer -- the ice goes away in winter for some reason...

I'd kept my souvenir Ice Mine Cigar for years, until it rotted away...

Interesting, had a vaping mod that I had had for ... 5 years or so. Never had any issues with it, but a couple weeks ago, I picked it up to go outside to vape and noticed it was red hot. Figured it was a short somewhere as I had not used it in about an hour. Shut it off, then threw the thing in the oven. It cooled down on it's own, but I went out and bought a new one.

He wasn't buying "ghost guns", at least not on the record. he was buying perfectly normal firearms, and getting the background check done. Apparently the number of purchases made in a short interval is what the BATF goons alerted on.

320 Mississippi's only "medical abortion clinic" is relocating to Las Cruces, New Mexico. A number of my fellow residents found this a problem and are setting up Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC) next door to the "medical abortion clinic". One of the city council members found this offensive and is trying to figure out how to regulate CPCs out of existence. Welcome to the Land of Enchantment and soon to be the USA's "medical abortion clinic" services leader without restriction. Time for a new tourism slogan: "The Land of Crown Em' and Kill Em'." And to think I still think "The Land of Enchantment" version was just fine.

324 Electric vehicles. If we had a non-Democrat lackey press, every member of the Junta who does a TV studio interview or a press confernce would always be asked these questions: Do you own an electric vehicle? Do you use it for all your driving? Did you get to work (or to this studio) today in an electric vehicle? (If no, then ask why not?) And more.

Reporters would shadow all the Junta members who claim to have and use an electric vehicle, to find out if they told the truth.

Oh well, I can dream, can't I?

A lot of attys get into something deadly dull & then discover it sux. Find something you enjoy, & the money will generally take care of itself in time. Because if you love the job, you'll probably be good at it.

The burnout rate for attys is unusually high, I've read. Do you enjoy competing? Because generally speaking, the practice of law is ADVERSARIAL!

The three Indianapolis residents who died were Pedro Pineda, 56; Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda, 37; and Victor Gomez, 30. All were Latinos.

Many in the Latino community are wondering if the mass shooting was a hate crime.

Eduardo Luna with the nonprofit Arte Mexicano en Indiana and the community organization Nopal Cultural said, “Why does this happen to us? Why does this happen to Indiana? Why is this not called a hate crime? This is a hate crime.”

That speculation is gaining momentum as police investigate online posts that may later be attributed to the shooter. The posts include screenshots on a controversial website 4chan and other posts with Nazi imagery.

495 >> Publius, have you seen this? NIH published

Yes, I've saw that on one of the Substacks I follow. Immune suppression by these injectable products is becoming well demonstrated.

Another good one. Cruise ship, everyone full vaccinated (whether that includes boosters or not, I don't). 20% of the complement came down with Covid.

Now, that was the same percentage that got infected (tested positive, the really sick, not so much) on the Diamond Princess, that cruise ship with an outbreak early on.

So fully vaxxed gets you the same percentage infected as no vax.

496 Probably too late for this year, but we have found that putting a waist high electric fence (with voltage designed for deer, etc) using closely spaced strands will keep racoons out. It helps to keep the ground around the fence moist as well. Depends on how large of a corn patch you have, could be a long fence.

500 Saxson has been through The Wringer, as far as the Labels and Industry is concerned.

They were good before the "Love-Song Ballad Eighties" and they emerged from the wash as Heavy as Ever.

Posted by: Slapweasel at July 21, 2022 01:49 AM (Ckg4U)

501
I've got a double electric fence around the whole garden. 6' space in between. So far, knock on wood, it's keep the deer out, but the raccoons are getting in.

They are smart. They've probably learned to do the limbo under the bottom wire.

Raccoons love corn, and they love watermelons. A lot other things too. They like sweet stuff. A neighbor used to swear that raccoons would check his watermelons for ripeness before they'd go at them. Said he see footprints on immature melons. He claimed they were "thumping 'em" to see if they were ripe.

At this point, I don't doubt him. They are smart little fuckers.

505 We use the wire interwoven with string, and the stands are 6 inches apart, as well as 6 inches above the ground The voltage generator is designed for cows and deer. Another thing to consider is purchasing a line voltage checker (cannot remember the name) to double check that each line has appropriate voltage. I hate racoons.

Thats for sure. I will say though, for me there was never an album that I could just put on and play through. It always seemed like there were a few killer tunes, and then a bunch of of average tunes. The good ones though were frigging great. I think Princess of the night, and Crusader were my real favs, along with Strong arm of the law, and Denim and leather.

I'm trying a square foot gardening thing this year in town in a raised bed, will see how it works.
