ICYMI, the Stray Kitten Ambush from yesterday, plus additional videos.

Here's the story. It's NPR. The government forced you at gunpoint to pay for it so you might as well read it.

Turns out the kitten rescuer is a professional shooter.

As Robert Brantley was driving down the backroads of northeast Louisiana on Tuesday, something caught his eye. The professional shooter was going about 40 miles an hour as he headed toward the shooting range, but he thought he had seen a kitten on the side of the road.

He wasn't sure though, so he turned his car around and went back to find out. In a video that he posted to Instagram, Brantley walks toward a single white and gray tabby kitten.

"Look -- kitty, kitty," Brantley calls toward the kitten.

Brantley picks the kitten up just as three more white kittens pop up in the grass.
But it didn't end there. In total, 12 kittens came out of the grass after the first one and ambushed the man who said he thought it was just a lone kitten.

"Oh, no, there's a whole -- oh, my gosh! I can't take y'all. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh, there's more! We got a kitten problem," Brantley exclaims in his initial video. "Who would do this? I thought I was saving one. Hot diggity dog."

Needless to say, Brantley had his hands full and did not make it to the range that day.

"I was not prepared for the kittens," he told NPR. "I was just blown away."

The 37-year-old said it was a wave of emotions as he realized someone had likely dumped the kittens on the side of the road at an age when they couldn't fend for themselves.

Then he started the notably difficult task of herding the cats into his Honda hostaback.

"When I opened the door and started putting 'em in, they were jumping out. If I'd throw one in, three would run out," he said. "But they would stay around my ankles on the ground. So I finally rolled down the windows, shut a door and started putting them inside where they couldn't get out."

Brantley then headed home with his baker's dozen of kittens. The initial video gained a lot of traction on social media, and Brantley said thousands of offers for adoption started pouring in from all around the U.S. and elsewhere in the world.

At this time, most of the litter is spoken for, with the exception of a couple of kittens that need a little extra attention, and a veterinarian is scheduled to stop by Thursday night to help out.

"We found some good people locally that want 'em, and I know that they're all good people and they're not doing anything bad with them," he said. "We haven't gave any of them away yet -- they're probably a little too young."

Very, very high martial arts kick.

nunchucks more like dumbchuks amirite

Compilation of people who are literally inches or split-seconds from death, only to miraculously survive. Or be rescued at the last moment.

That's from an account called Viral Videos. I'm going to link some more videos from that account. Be warned if you scan on that account: a lot of the videos show some serious accidents, maybe deadly ones. I'm linking harmless stuff, but if you go looking on the account, you'll find grimmer videos.

These puppies are engaging in some kind of mathematical chaos-driven behavior that would make Ian Malcolm cream his black jeans.

Skipping rope with your buddies.

Sheep thinks he's a bronco.

Little baby makes for the cutest little choreographer. Shadowboxing cat.

Little dog chases two bears out of the yard.

Man passes out from fear during a parachute jump. Sound on. I think in the beginning he might already be unconscious, with the wind just blowing open his slack mouth.

Don't worry too much-- he's in a buddy-assisted dual-parachute rig, so his physical safety is assured. I cannot guarantee his mental safety, though. Even though this is kind of distressing, I recommend watching it all the way through; it's amusing.

You gotta think the ball here, which is pretty easy to fake up in Aftereffects, is CGI.

Still, who knows, could just be, maybe, theoretically, the result of trying over and over and over again.

I've seen clips on Americas Funniest Videos of people riding the slingshot type rides at fairs and passing out, and it's weird to watch how the body works. They'll black out, then come right back for a second or two. I guess just long enough to realize what's happening, maybe? And then they're out like a light again. And it will often repeat a few times.

It's government failure at every level. Not a single other gun owner has a bit of responsibility, but hundreds of government employees have failed for years and years leading up to this, and hundreds failed on that day.

WTF is going on? The highest ranking person on scene is in charge until the next arrives and they discuss matters. Depending on the situation and the initial person may remain in charge, but the higher rank will always be responsible for that decision. It doesn't matter who arrives, someone is always in command and is the person everyone answers to.

How in the world did 100+ local, state, and federal officers know how to tase parents but not know how to do that?

(I'm guessing the same way the door didn't latch.)

"Congress shall have a well-regulated system for the extremely limited ownership of firearms and weapons, and they will make laws regarding ammunition, capacity, storage, locks, registration, the vetting of the owner, strict minimum-age requirements, all of which are necessary to the security of a free state and the right of the people to be kept safe from gun violence," Moore said. Yeah, it's beyond time for people to buy ammo, canned goods, and establishing relationships in a church home. Hopefully you won't ever need to ask for help, but if you do it will be a lot easier to ask people who know and care about you, and who you might have helped hammer nails in a wheelchair ramp or replace shingles or do some other minor tasks. That sort of thing goes a long way.

109 75, thx for posting that.

It demonstrates that the left is really stupid about the nature of rights. Literally no government is able to guarantee protecting someone from being shot. The 2a is easily enforceable by enabling individuals to protect themselves and preventing the enforcement of govt laws infringing the right. Positive rights require government coercion of individuals for enforcement: negative rights only require govt to do nothing to infringe those rights.

138 Hi kick doubters:

I'm no physicist or anything, but that vid looks authentic...

1) The handspring before the kick changes his horizontal momentum to roughly vertical (downward) momentum, as his feet complete the rotation and hit the ground (pad) in a nearly straight-down direction.
2) The compression of the pad provides counter-force to and remaining forward momentum which is then directed back and upward.
3) The pad by compressing further directs energy into the intended direction, which is why he is able to attain a height (at around his waist area) of more than 8'. High jumpers lack the advantage of a resilient floor, which is why they continue partially in a horizontal direction, robbing them of some height.

I had a female friend when I was younger who was a black belt in judo and karate. She was average height but quite slim and looked like the girl next door. She told me that she was asked to demonstrate the lethality of nunchucks one in a courtroom in front of a jury.

Apparently the defense had argued that they were not capable of doing any harm. She split a concrete block in two about a tenth of a second after she started moving. It was pretty convincing.

I saw her a couple of times doing demonstrations and she was awesome. To look at her you would never think that she could kill you in about a second and you would never see it coming. She was also a really good trombone player and ended up becoming a music teacher.

I first heard of "negative rights" when Obama complained about them limiting his dreams of ... totalitarian rule, I guess.

But whoever named them "negative" was perhaps against them. It is the positive right ... of the citizen, that prevents government from stealing his ability to defend, his ability to speak, etc.

It is not a negative right. Rights belong to the citizen, so why would they call it a negative right? Same with the "positive right" ... how is it a positive for government to have tyrannical control (over taking guns, controlling speech)? It is a positive for tyranny, but a negative for rights of the citizen. It takes away rights. Subtraction is taking away ... a minus sign, a negative.

On my way to deliver in Cincinnati I passed a little sign in Uke colors put there by some local band the name of which escapes me.

On the top have it said, "(Whatever the band is called) support Ukraine!"

On the bottom half it said something like, "And check out our new song on Spotify blah blah blah."

331 314, illniwek,

The reason that natural rights are called negative rights is that they limit government's power. This comes directly from charters of rights and liberties that kings issued to their subjects as promised limits on kingly powers being exercised. The Catholic church of the time also prodded and occasionally even threatened and punished kings for affecting what the church believed were fundamental liberties for people such as worship, marriage, etc.

Positive rights require government to do something to enforce these rights. The right to a free and public education is in many state constitutions and requires states to tax individuals to pay for it. Civil rights law requires government to coerce those refusing to grant them to other individuals via state actions by authoritative bodies such as courts, and so on.

334 more profundidity ... with sprikles.

So when did civilians (people that felt they were part of a society, not just hunter gatherers or raiders like Genghis and friends) ... when did they first feel they deserved "sovereign rights"?

This is why I need the smart horde ... idk. Raised Lutheran it seems Luther felt he had a right/obligation to speak against the evil practice of the church selling indulgencies, (and many other things).

But he worked within the system ... and then --- Protestantism. But Protestants seemed (to me) to still view themselves as subjects of the king. Only America broke free sovereign man's God given rights away from a man on earth as his owner/leader.

But even the early colonies allowed a lot of government (state level) control of people, like with some church attendance required I think.

335 I somehow got "biden" eye. I think I sneezed too hard yesterday and it started getting bloody. But today it got even bloodier after I sneezed again. Looks horrible. I just say I have Ebola.

The older I get the more I catch myself not really "focused" thinking but having sort of a lingering, low-level hum type of thinking of "How would my dad handle this?"

OK, thanks. BUT again, why is limiting the citizens' God given rights call a negative right? It is a restriction on government to take away citizens' rights, not a negative right.

"The right to a free public education" is not a God given right in the US constitution, afaik. And the power of the states is a different issue (pertinent to Roe v Wade and other Florida stuff). Yes the states claimed the right to more restrictive law over God given rights and more ... so OK, the states might go more commie without breaking the US constitution (and would need uprising from their citizenry) .. but the feds cannot.

What would Pappy Eromero do? Why, he'd pay cash or do without. I'm close, but still have two vehicle payments.

344 So I watched some Darwin award winner come out of his truck pointing a handgun at a state trooper over a "seatbelt" violation.

An obviously seasoned trooper did a quick back step, rotated 180 degrees while drawing his service weapon and single tapped him in the heart. The perp was room temp when he hit the ground.

God love our Blue.

345 Illniwek,
Natural rights are inalienable or unalienable depending on whether you prefer Jefferson's or Adam's spelling. Essentially, under whatever governing system, they cannot be severed from the individual but any government action transgressing those rights is tyranny by definition. Thus, since the rights pre exist, charter or constitution or not, bill of rights are a check on government action, not individuals. That is like a presidential veto which in constitution speak is a qualified negative in our system. A bill of rights essentially vetoes government actions that transgress individual rights.

Many of the Framers felt a Bill of Rights was dangerous and unnecessary as the national government only had enumerated powers and actions beyond those would constitute tyranny. The Antifederalists insisted and won the argument requiring the new govt to pass one in order to get the last required states to ratify.

Just like a qualified or even absolute negative on a bill can be positive in effect, so is the term negative rights aka liberties. That is freedom for the individual to do something without fear of govt punishment.

346 Fake ball? I don't know. If you look at the film, and think about it, if there's no real ball in the action, the timing of their movements would be almost impossible to coordinate.
