It is unbelievable. Never have we had this kind of issue for hiring. We have to have 18 year olds at youngest because we sell alcohol. Apparently it's no longer a thing to work after HS, or during college

36 VDH is surely right about this:

"If Roe v. Wade were to be repealed, many Americans in red states will remain appalled that some blue states will allow abortions, especially late-term abortions after 22 weeks. But nearly all will accept the rule of constitutional democracy and thus the states’ rights to make their own laws that do not conflict with federal legislation as passed by Congress and signed by the president."

I remember that but I don't think it was a virus, just an elaborate scare, April Fool's. Eventually, having the code, it evolved into an innocuous file-delete program (app for you young 'uns). 102 I had a fancy electric typewriter in college. It had correction tape built into the cartridge. But you still had to press the return button when the bell rang.

Vic was sure the manual typewriter was just a fad and stuck with his quill pen.

Funny thing is, there actually are manual typewriters with a USB interface that can replace the computer keyboard. I can't imagine who would want one but someone thinks there's a market.

105 Biden-through his handlers words called Trump supporters "Ultra maga" . A commentator on the Legal Insurrection site had this to say:

Ultra MAGA sounds like a brand of low tar cigarettes, As in, “Give me a pack of Ultra MAGA 100s and a couple of scratch offs.”

I laughed

107 mornin yall. My dad made my mom take down the bird feeders so the bird flu won't get spread. I held my tongue and did not suggest leaving out tiny masks instead.

108 Carriage return... my grandfather had an Underwood typewriter on his desk. He'd put a piece of paper in it and we'd pound out nonsense on it for hours.

My parents had several typewriters over the years as well. I learned touch typing by the time I was 12. A "3 page, single spaced report" for school was easy.

However, in the late 70's my dad got one of the first Apple computers complete with duel disk drives and a dot matrix printer. I got an "F" on a paper because the teacher thought "the computer wrote it." My parents had to explain to her how it worked. I then begrudgingly was given a C- and never did well in that class again.

122 My family used to go to a restaurant out by a lake, nice place and view. The dumpster in the back for kitchen waste was a great place to see bears. Some city guys with a few drinks under their belt got brave and started darning each other to run up and poke the bear. With enough alcohol in their bellies, they would try and do it. The bears didn't like it and one night one of the NYC guys found out you don't mess with mother nature. Had to be taken to the hospital for severe injuries. Many of use watching from a distant, knew it was going to happen.

-- There's the feel of the keys.
-- One can cut stencils - does anyone still do this?
-- Is an ink ribbon cheaper than a laser?

Back in the late 70s early 80s I wanted to build a serial interface to a typewriter to get high quality printing but my interfacing electronics expertise was all theoretical. LOL
