I'm glad to see that Tucker Carlson is taking it seriously.

This cannot be allowed to happen.

This incident tells me all I need to know about Republicans. What should have happened is a disorganized flurry of outrage and furor over this, with lots of messaging and threats and bill introductions, followed by a slowdown while they align and coordinate their positions, followed by an even louder and more active surge of pushback along a unified front.

That is what would have happened if the Republicans were actually on the side of the base or of American values. But they're not. They don't believe it and won't do anything to fight for it, not even out of the cynical self-interest of a non-believer who puts it up anyway because he knows he needs to. They don't care about the base or about Americans enough to even fear them and pretend. Notice what's missing? It's because of the basic assumption in this argument and every argument like it.

What is to stop people - marginalized or not - from reading something, thinking about it, questioning it, and forming an opinion for themselves? Where is the agency? Where is the individual? Where is the choice? Where is the thought?

Nowhere. Some people in charge cynically know that they lose when scrutinized, but a lot of them - and I suspect this sniveling ideologue is one of them - done't even understand the question. People have no agency and there is no such thing as an individual or even of thought at all. There is merely a message, the message is truth, and therefore the message must be enforced and controlled - and if you don't accept the message then you're defective and dangerous because you refuse to see the truth.

My wife has a GSD named Xena, a little over a year old now (16 months). So she has a crate inside, she chills there sometime. Well she's started doing this thing where she'll close her crate, then bark at the crate door, then open the crate door and bark again. We couldn't figure out what she was doing or why. We thought she was playing a game. She wasn't. She was communicating with us. When she does that barking and crate door closing/opening...she was ASKING US TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GO OUTSIDE. I was stunned. This...this is a seriously smart dog.

What's interesting about the concept is is that it is completely believable. The Pax was not a wonder drug to treat some disease, oh no. It was supposed to make people more placid. Docile. Malleable. In a certain subset of people, it had the exact opposite effect.

So, the Pax was not some wonderful idea to cure a pandemic, but a way to make people easier to control. 'Better' as Mal says.

Make sure that you know the current laws regarding firearms in those states which is quite picky on AR firearms and magazines. Firearms Owner Protection Act protects you in transit somewhat if you have the ammo and firearm in separate containers that are unable to be accessed during travel easily. Best if locked.

Once you take it out of the case or are no longer in the actual process of traveling, then you are fully subject to state and in Illinois and NY case, local laws. NJ, in particular has been known to harass people claiming that FOPA means you cannot stop in NJ even for bathroom, gas, or restaurants, otherwise strict NJ laws apply.

For you or anyone else planning to 'write' your congress critter. Instead, I would consider faxing your letter. Yes, it is old tech but because of that it is more likely to be noticed and almost all congressional offices still have fax machines. Email is now discounted because of spam campaigns and snail mail goes to a facility where it is irradiated before being sent to Congress which can take weeks.

Another, even more impressive, is to visit the local congressional or senator office. Main thing is to be noticed and counted and most people will not take the time or trouble to actually 'visit'. That also goes for the DC office which is more of a pain in these days and many offices are still officially closed.

What constitutional role does Interior have? Dealing with the Sovereign Indian Nations should be a role for the State Department. Commerce and transportation do implement Article 1 roles. All of the powers specified in Article 1 (outside of foreign affairs, military and finance) could be rolled into one executive department.

The actual books have far different messages than leftists took from them such as authorities can be corrupted, people excluded and punished for beliefs only, and so on. Rowling herself has been marginalized due to her belief that a woman is a woman.

That being said, there are far superior commentaries. F. Paul Wilson has written several excellent books in his LaNague series including the best one--an Enemy of the State. Tolkien has as well but more difficult to adapt to modern circumstances and then you have Heinlein, Poul Anderson (later stuff), Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven, and so on. Michael Z. Williamson is another with his Freehold series.

They will cut out the gay stuff for China. It will make $100 million there at least. It will make about $500 million in the US and make up the rest across the world because nostalgia and "Disney sucks, but my kid really wants to see Buzz Lightyear and I loved Toy Story when I was a kid."

Most of their live action remake stuff has been pretty uniformly awful, and they all make about a billion dollars. The only exception is Tim Burton's Dumbo which was both pretty good and a very thin take on why Disney sucks, which is why Disney let it die horribly at the box office.

When someone does this, they will actively fight to exclude information that would cause them to have to reevaluate the contradictory beliefs.
This could lead to even greater reevaluation and break the basis one has in standing with one's world.

By forcing contradictory beliefs on people, a situation is created where that acceptance is self sustaining, and any other information that is fed in that supports it is accepted uncritically, and any information that doesn't is rejected out of hand. It is a self sustaining situation.

Most of these type of "boards" try and piggy-back on an agency's legal authority to enforce actual federal codes (ie statutes) - this 'board" doesn't even try and suggest where their enforcement authority comes from, and what federal statutes they've been tasked with to enforce.

I truly believe that secession will be done on a county level once Florida says fuck off to DC, which is the best strategy in my For example Florida makes the move, South Georgia counties will move with Florida, some Western Counties moves to Alabama, and East and North East Counties to South Carolina and northern mountain counties to Tenn.
People are tired of being held hostage to a few large Urban International Hubs, you just need people to explain to the normals the benefits of such a move.

Once the Florida Federal Court Judge ruled that, of course, mask mandates issued by a Federal Agency (the CDC) with no enforcement authority and no Congressional statute sited to enforce, the TSA was forced to acquiesce - sure, some States have statutory authority to uphold masking rules or codes - but the US Government does not, period. Congress has given out none to any agency.

NY State has given the counties broad authority to decide how to proceed, and they are doing it that way. I don't think NYS goes back to universal masking.

They usually stick seminary students in there because it's small and doesn't pay a lot, but I am a "real" pastor-ie finished seminary, been in the ministry for some time, don't have another church to serve and I've served there longer than their most recent past pastors. That's not to say that seminary students can't do well. Of course they can. It's just hard for them to go visit people -because well, they have seminary classes and/or don't live nearby and/or have young children. And apparently, some of the older folk appreciate I'm more theologically conservative than some of their previous seminary student pastors.

Well she's started doing this thing where she'll close her crate, then bark at the crate door, then open the crate door and bark again. We couldn't figure out what she was doing or why. We thought she was playing a game. She wasn't. She was communicating with us. When she does that barking and crate door closing/opening...she was ASKING US TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GO OUTSIDE. I was stunned. This...this is a seriously smart dog.

One of my cats used to stand up, put his paws on either side of the doorknob outside, and move them up on one side and down on the other alternately. It was every motion of turning it aside from having a hand to do it.

The very issue you take with Buckley, that of casting people outside the movement, was what JBS kept on doing. Eisenhower is a communist, fighting in Vietnam supports communism somehow and so on.

even granting your interpretation, it remains that JFB's only accomplishment was to band and make pariahs some fellow conservatives. There are no successes against the left and the liberal republicans. That was left for Reagan and Trump to do.
