The Morning Report - 4/14/22

garlandtheman.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and in the wake of the past several days, one thing is abundantly clear. The FBI along with its mother, the Department of Justice should be disbanded. Or in the words of commenter Allen G. burned to the ground, its ashes scattered and the ground salted where it stood. A racialist kamikaze, amped up on 60-years of Jive Kampf Democrat-Leftist brainwashing went on a violent rampage that miraculously only wounded about 10 people. You might be thinking that those two sentences are a non sequitur. Oh, no no no, my friends.

Frank James was on their terror watch list, but it appears nobody was watching the terrorist.

The Daily Mail reports that federal investigators saw Frank James’s three-week-old video in which he reportedly vowed he wouldn’t return alive to his Wisconsin home after the self described “prophet of doom” planned a mass attack on Americans.

The video shows James driving out of Wisconsin, saying “and as I leave the state of Wisconsin … all I can say is good riddance and [laughs] I will never be back alive in that motherf*****.” He complained that “a ghetto is a fu**ing ghetto. You seen one you’ve seen em all. Doesn’t matter.”

He hated white people and, in his videos, espoused the separation of the races by geography.

Stop the tape. Did I say "kamikaze?" Correction: "Islam-ikaze."

He was an apparent adherent to the Nation of Islam, according to his Twitter account.

James’s final video, in which he vowed not to return alive to Wisconsin, combined with others can be seen as a martyr video similar to those issued by Islamic terrorists before their suicide missions.

And the FBI was aware of it all, reportedly.

“It has now emerged that he was known to the FBI and was questioned in 2019 in New Mexico though it is not yet clear why. He was cleared but was entered into the state’s ‘Guardian Lead’ system. The Guardian Program is the bureau’s terrorist threat and suspicious incident tracking system. Despite being on that list, James was unimpeded as he relentlessly uploaded hate-speech-filled clips on YouTube about how oppressed black people were and how black and white people should have ‘no contact’, for weeks before Tuesday’s attack.”

While the FBI was busy rolling up imaginary “domestic terrorists,” it was letting a real one slip through its fingers.

Questioned in New Mexico? I seem to recall a kerfuflle over a supposed Islamic terrorism training camp in the Land of IKeelYou, er, Enchantment. Hmm. Anyway, the thing of it is, the "terrorists" aren't just "imaginary," the FBI manufactures them out of whole cloth as has been confirmed - yet again - by this supposed plot to kidnap Michigan's glassy-eyed Zohra-impersonator Wretched Whitmer.

Michigan was a swing state in the 2020 election. When the arrests were announced, Whitmer speedily denounced Trump for inciting “domestic terrorism.”

Biden won the 2020 election because of the early voting, and the Michigan kidnapping plot was one of the biggest stories in October 2020. Prior to the presidential election, Attorney General Bill Barr assured that news did not leak about multiple federal investigations into Hunter Biden. But the FBI felt no such constraints and trumpeted a ludicrous scheme that was shot down even by a jury that a federal judge had largely blindfolded. . .

. . . Whitmer was denounced at protests and on the Facebook page of the “Wolverine Watchmen,” where angry anti-government bluster poured forth. Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg testified to Congress in October 2020 that Facebook had “identified” the Whitmer kidnap plot “as a signal to the FBI about six months ago” regarding “suspicious activity on our platform.”

But the plot didn’t exist at that point.

That is, until multiple government-paid newcomers joined the group. Stephen Robeson, an FBI informant with a list of felonies and other crimes, organized key events to build the movement.

Dan Chapel, another FBI informant who was paid $54,000, became second-in-command and masterminded the military training for the group, even as he helped the feds wiretape their messages.

Though several militia members explicitly opposed kidnapping the governor, Chapel and Robeson helped hosta a ludicrous plot to snatch Whitmer from her vacation home and take her away for trial. FBI operatives took the participants, who prattled idiotically about stealing a Blackhawk helicopter, for drives near Whitmer’s vacation home, which supposedly proved they were going to nab the governor and unleash havoc.

It was all a setup. Shortly before that excursion, an FBI agent texted instructions to Chapel: “Mission is to kill the governor specifically.” There were as many FBI informants and undercover agents as there were purported plotters in this case.

And not three months later, on January 6th, 2021 came the so-called "riot" at the Capitol that was described as "the worst attack on our precious democracy [*vomits*] since the Civil War, Pearl Harbor and 9/11 combined." Turns out the only violence and mayhem that did occur was caused by Capitol Cops and Antifa/BLM goons dressed in MAGA gear, resulting in the cold blooded murder of Ashli Babbitt and Roseanne Boyland, as well as the continued imprisonment of innocent dupes who were let into the building by the police themselves.

And as they continue to rot in the Garland Archipelago or cop to some sort of plea before they are ruined financially and otherwise, or are driven to suicide like Matthew Perna, the Klain Kalorama Komintern has been exposed as ordering its enforcers in the DOJ to go after parents who committed the second worst attack on "our precious democracy" (*vomits*) by having the audacity to challenge and criticize the rape of mind, body and soul of their children at school board meetings. In another part of the filthy sewer that is DC, the DoD is attempting to purge anyone who visits social media sites that object or challenge the official party line on everything from the Chinese COVID orthodoxy to transgender psychosis to the illegitimacy of the 2020 election.

But Frank James? Nidal Hassan? Djokar Tsarnayev? Omar Mateen? The damned 9/11 hijackers? What about Dick Durbin and Bernie Sanders adjacent James Hodgkinson? Or Stephen Paddock? And so on and so on and scoobie doobie doobie? Crickets.

Will there be any introspection let alone a mea culpa or will they bitch and moan the usual tripe that, even if we knew about Frank James we can't really do anything until he commits an actual crime. I remember getting and to this day being enraged at Jamie Gorelick for erecting that so-called "wall" that prevented the FBI and local law enforcement from sharing the intelligence that would have or at least could have prevented 9/11 from happening. Given that we now fully realize how these agencies operate, I tend to seriously doubt it. As to that introspection, evidently they are going to try and prevent crimes. But it depends on how the word "crime" is defined; who gets to be Daniel Webster and who's the Devil?

Rep. Thomas Massie, one of the three who voted against the [Emmett Till Antilynching Act], expressed a handful of concerns, including that there are a limited number of constitutionally specified federal crimes, that lynching is already criminalized, and that “Adding enhanced penalties for ‘hate’ [on top of existing criminal punishments] tends to endanger other liberties such as freedom of speech.”

He also highlighted another potential pitfall of the legislation: “The bill creates another federal crime of ‘conspiracy,’ which I’m concerned could be enforced overbroadly on people who are not perpetrators of a crime” . . .

. . . With this new law, the U.S. government has further expanded into the realm of policing thought crimes. Ominously, this law comes on the heels of the Department of Homeland Security’s attempt to broaden the “domestic terrorism” category and expand methods for identifying “threats". . .

. . . It’s a mountain-out-of-a-molehill on par with the “Don’t Say Gay” hysteria. But this one may have far greater consequences down the road as texts, emails, social media posts, and everyday speech are monitored and analyzed by various three-letter agencies to establish the intent of our discourse. The Emmett Till Act may become a key piece in the arsenal for U.S. intelligence agencies’ war on free speech.

UPDATE: Commenter Muldoon has this to say about a story out of California regarding doctors and so-called medical misinformation:

Here is the cudgel: "The Board shall consider . . . Whether the misinformation or disinformation was contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus to an extent where its dissemination constitutes gross negligence by the licensee.

This is an extension of the notion of "best practice", which has morphed from being a set of guidelines to being a hard and fast rule for any given specialty. It has been the case for nearly 20 years that if you deviate from 'best practice' you risk censure, loss of hospital privileges, or loss of license.

'Contemporary scientific consensus' is a nebulous euphemism that will be subject to frequent change at the whim of State Medical Board, and wielded capriciously and arbitrarily as a political weapon.

Now put this together with the conspiracy angle of this "anti-lynching" law, insofar as who gets to define not so much what a conspiracy is but to declare political opposition and anything against the official orthodoxy as treason, and we are getting into nightmare territory.

Psaki-psircling back, do you really think that the DOJ is going to use these laws to grab the likes of Frank James (although he was that so-called "lone wolf") or are they going to go after Michigander militiamen, i.e. a handful of drunk braggarts at a dive bar shooting off nothing more than their mouths? Or Project Veritas, or True the Vote, or me, Ace and the co-bloggers right here at the HQ? The very words that we write every day, that I actually had published into a book, could in theory be used as evidence against us at a conspiracy trial if G-d forbid it ever gets to that point. And the way things are going, that possibility grows day by day.

As for the FBI, these bastards. These evil, fucking bastards who care about one thing and one thing only. Their pensions and perks. I'm really sick and tired of apologists like Andy McCarthy, Sean Hannity and others who keep praising the agency and excusing away the behavior of a few rotten apples at the top. Sorry, the whole damned agency is rotten top to bottom.

There is at least one lurker here who I believe still works for the government that I have gotten to know via e-mail and I'm sure my rant is not going to make him happy. Yes, like he, there are I'm sure decent people working at the DOJ and FBI. But given what I am saying and what we know their mission is - political hitmen and enforcers of the Deep State and institutional left - how can anyone, in good conscience, continue to draw a paycheck from them? They're the Stasi. And the rest of the government and bureaucracy backs them to the hilt. You're not going to change anything there except Biden's Depends if you're unlucky enough to be in his Secret Service detail. Unless the dog bites you.

7 Good morning.

News out of Russia is that the Ukrainians shelled some small town over the border into RU that had no military significance:

"Confirmed: AFU hit the village of Klimovo in the Bryansk region - shells hit residential buildings, 7 people (among them one child and one pregnant woman) were injured.

Locals talk about three explosions at 12.08. The injured are in the hospital, three of them are in serious condition, one leg was torn off. Schools have been closed and children have been sent home."

I think the gloves are going to come off in this war in a big way.

34 FBI Blows It Again: Knew About Subway Terrorist's Racist Videos and Had Him on Watch List

I'm conflicted on this one. My general thoughts on policing (the Feds aren't supposed to have Police powers anyway...) is that we kind of have to wait until someone has done something illegal to punish them. Headlines like these are born from a logical foundation that says we should have a "Pre-Crime division."

Right up until the first punch is thrown, or the money actually demanded/taken, or whatever, the bad guy in question has the opportunity to not be a bad guy.

We do, and also where we point out that the Left, starting with Wilson and then amplified under FDR, decided that the "necessary and proper" clause was a sweeping statement of empowerment allowing them to do anything they could get a Congress to vote for.

It is, technically, but I've been told (not sure how accurate my source is, though) that it's rarely prosecuted because juries tend be sympathetic to the "yeah, I'm sorry, I lost my temper" excuse.

If you had enough videos all saying the same thing, maybe, and if there was evidence of action along with the videos (say, purchase of firearms or tracked substances: but I don't think any of those should be tracked), it would be easier.

In general, I'm not a fan of making speech a crime. Even hateful, threatening speech.

Yup, exactly. Pulse nightclub was an FBI job gone sideways. The California shooters a couple of years ago (San Bernadino, I think) was an FBI job gone sideways. The Vegas shooter was *probably* an FBI job gone sideways, based on the cleanup job that followed. The terror training compound in New Mexico was also *probably* and FBI op, again based on the cleanup job afterward.

The FBI playbook appears to be pretty clear. They recruit targets, radicalize them into actual terrorists, arm them, help them with planning, then disrupt those plans to chalk up counterterrorism victories. When they lose control and people died because of the targets they recruited, trained and armed, they loosely cover it up and get the press to carry water for them and then they use it to argue that they need more counterterrorism funding to avoid future attacks.

It's as diabolical as it is disgusting.

62 FBI Blows It Again: Knew About Subway Terrorist's Racist Videos and Had Him on Watch List

-

I have never been a "crisis actor" believer until I saw the video SMH posted.

There is no blood on the floor of the train station for 30 seconds or so after the shooting victims come out and look around for instructions on where to lie down. One lady is literally caught on video pouring blood out of some type of container onto the floor. Another lady in brown shoes and with a huge tacky purse was taking video underground, perfectly fine, and then grievously injured and put in an ambulance above ground.

I don't think this happened like we were told it did.

2. If the Blue Bird says "no," what are the chances the stock price climbs versus sinks?
Posted by: AllenG #Texit at April 14, 2022 06:55 AM (WNPel)
++++
1. No on the price. He probably bought most of his shares between $30 and $40 based on timing. The price now - after the most-Musk runup - is only around $46. If he's really all-in at $54 and change, that's a *lot* higher than his current stake.

2. They can't run up the stock necessarily, or prevent him from buying it. What they can do is get their current shareholders - major ones, who are aligned with them - to hold and not sell. The float (number of shares being traded) will fall and the price will rise. To make this happen, the current owners have to be willing to *not* take the money and so withhold their shares from Musk. This will probably drive the price up, but then the risk is that one of those big shareholders - or more than one - blink and take the cash on the barrel.

If Musk really wants it and they want to block him, they just have to *not* sell him the shares.

And even worse, it goes *way* beyond that. The state controls vast amounts of the scientific establishment and infrastructure (the thing Eisenhower warned about in his Military-Industrial Complex speech, but the part everyone forgets because the MIC part was so catchy), which means that the state controls the "contemporary scientific consensus." The science is what the state says it is, and acts like this one go a step further and redefine the truth as what the science says - and therefore the truth is what the state says.

In medicine, surely. Also in everything else. If the state dictates that the "contemporary scientific consensus" is that pi is equal to 3, then you'll be spreading dangerous disinformation if you insist that it;s 3.14159.

a-yep.

I frequently use a local bus line that gets you in and out of the downtown area without the hassles and costs of parking downtown. Only damn time I have to wear a tard rag. And you have to listen to loud, non-stop covid propaganda while you ride. They recently started announcing that masks will no longer be provided and if you don't have your own, you don't ride. Since they are not mandated anywhere else here, a lot of infrequent riders don't know or just forget to bring one, so they were providing them.

Let's see: cloud infrastructure (so you pay for processing), a mobile client and web client (probably with independent servicing portals, because that's the New Hotness in web dev these days), but you just provide the content you're already creating (at least until you actually have subscribers).

My team and I could do that in 6 months or so for a cost (to the client) of about 1/3 of a million dollars + infrastructure costs (which would not be that high, initially, because cloud-based infrastructure). By the time you have enough subscribers that cloud-based becomes a liability, you have enough subscribers that moving to a private (on-prem) server farm isn't that big a deal.

One could argue that the Russians targeted Ukrainian leadership from the start (hence the landings the first couple of nights of the war at Kiev's airport) and also, that the only reason heavy bombers aren't being used is that the Russians have never been able to neutralize Kiev's air defenses. They don't have stealth bombers, and they are big easy targets for any working missile system.

I think there are several, perhaps over a dozen commenters here (including myself) who are current or former state/federal government employees. If you include current/former military that number is significantly higher.

Anyway, the issues with the DoJ and their subservient agencies are a big problem. Policy is made at the top and enforced throughout an agency. So, not unlike the city traffic cop who relishes passing out more speeding tickets a month than anyone else in the department you have agents in the FBI that are more than eager to enforce whatever policy their specific department is responsible for. Many times it seems those policies are in direct violation of the constitution and/or law as we know it.

The consequences however are vastly different for the public when the feds do it.

But I don't wear one when the ride pulls up, and if the driver isn't wearing one, I don't put one on. I get the feeling the non-masker drivers are watching me the same as I'm watching them. 246 Best Practices always seemed to me a scheme to get around that pesky MD education and the Art (cuz it is an art) of Diagnosis.

So Obamacare could get around the high cost of using real docs by using less qualified PAs etc. That isdou catch most of the "horses" with a computer program could for say 90% of those with particular set of symptoms.

And ignore the 10% of mules, donkeys, zebras, and unicorns.

IMO, it's one of the main reasons, we're likely seeing the current fall in longevity.

That Best Practices could be used as a means of control and vendetta. Well, just look at Obamacare's Death Panels.

275 Weird thing is, what I've seen it is genocide. It's a deliberate attack on the population and indiscriminate killing of civilians by an army and their proxies. That doesn't change my view on whether we should be involved. But the actual evidence is very convincing and it's the sine qua non of the contractors and proxies Russia brought in, some would say mainly for that purpose.
Posted by: Marcus T at April 14, 2022 07:45 AM (TbpGr)

So, yeah, I'm gonna have to sort of disagree with you on that.

Where have you "seen" indiscriminate killing of civilians equating to genocide? We live in a world where everyone has a high def camera in their pocket. Seems like it would be easy to produce the evidence.

The Russians are quite capable of leveling a town with artillery and killing tens of thousands of people - they did it in Syria, they did it in Chechnya. Without making a moral equivalence play, the US (and Allies) did that throughout WWII. It wasn't "genocide" then. Why is it now?

Russia Ukraine is still a long, long way off on casualties from the various wars of separation in the former Yugoslavia, where they did actually "ethnically cleanse"

I think it's between Oz and McCormick.

I'm on the fence about McCormick and Oz and go back and forth on both. My concern Is McCormick another Mitt Romney that would be more pro-China as opposed to Oz.

From McCormick's Wiki page-

When Donald Trump was president-elect, he considered naming McCormick the U.S. Secretary of Treasury, but instead offered him the position of U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense.[26] However, he declined this position because he was happy with his role at Bridgewater. In early 2019, McCormick was under consideration for U.S. Secretary of Defense by the Trump administration.[27]

In 2017, McCormick was named by James Mattis as a member of the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee, a federal advisory committee to the U.S. Department of Defense.***** He was removed from this position by President Donald Trump in 2020 along with 11 other members with ties to the foreign policy establishment.

I am saying that unqualified, inexperienced nurses take positions beyond their experience level, but assume that they have the ability to do all of the things the job allows them to do, simply by virtue of them having the job. 308 "Then every war, terrorist attack, mass shooting or event causing multiple deaths is genocide. "

Not really. If you're familiar with the conventions of war, very few are. Civilian casualties almost always happen in war. They are to be expected in a European land war. But many of the groups involved are notorious for their genocidal intent, proven in places like Syria and Georgia. By genocidal, I mean deliberately intended to kill, wipe out or intimidate the civilian population. Anyone familiar with the history of Ukraine and wars in that region realizes this isn't the first time that's happened. In fact Russia has announced their intent to basically wipe out the native Ukrainian population with a Russian speaking proxy. They've been doing this for ages and the current war simply gives them license to carry it out. Now I understand in war there is propaganda. It's demonstrably so in this conflict now. But the deliberate targeting and murder of civilians in places like Bucha and Mariupol pretty clear seems to be (and with each passing day probably) the work of the Russians and their proxies.

Before people start getting their panties in a wad, I am in no way criticizing the level of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. It is an inevitable byproduct of war, and if we are going to war, that should be part of the consideration, but it should not dominate the goal of winning with the least possible military losses.

If the patient is uncomfortable with the provider, a complaint might not be voiced, and the lab order doesn't specify needed tests. You get some MDs and DOs who like to sit in judgement, and when you give them a specific complaint you get an ass chewing.

The Jan 6 hooha isn't working, even they see that, and so all they have left is trying to buy as many votes as they can. And since Congress won't pass it, they'll to get it done using EO's from Biden.

I'm telling you, the war propaganda on this conflict is unabashed and everywhere. You have to go view the other side, pro Russian accounts on Telegram, to get a clearer picture.

You can tell me Russians are targeting civilians in Mariupol, but I find it hard to believe it's not the Azov creeps who are guilty when I see video after video of civilians warmly embracing Russian forces for freeing them after being held captive as human shields.

The belief that they haven't from day 1 is the reason we are in this mess.

NATO is an organization that was formed to deter the spread of the Soviet Union, an entity that no longer exists. NATO should have met the same fate or at the very least been repurposed to work with Russia to bring it into the world order instead of treating it like the Soviet threat it never was.

I don't remember a lot of conservatives being all that upset about the US fighting back on communist expansion in Latin and South America and other spots in the world despite the fact we didn't have a vote.

387 You realize of course that the area referred to as Donbas was first really populated by the Ukrainian Cossack Hetmanate and I believe the Turkish Crimean Khanate. That is until the Russians "conquered" it. Even up until the 19th century is was still about 60% Ukrainian. It was re conquered by the Ukrainians prior to WW I, then eventually taken back by the Soviets and Stalin who tried to starve and drive out the Ukrainians and then for the last few decades has tried to load it up with Russians, and stoke conflict in order to reoccupy and takeover the region. Last I looked it was still a majority Ukrainian but the Russians are now trying to change that under the cover of war. That's just history.

398 Pt. 1 The laws of war were first a matter of practice based on Catholic Just Wars doctrine after the Napoleonic Wars. In Western Europe, it was agreed that targeting civilians in general was a bad thing. Eventually through a series of international treaties, it became that civilians that took up arms were fair game but those that did not were protected. Mass artillery and aerial bombing soon around WWI made that difficult if not impossible because a) the ability to target specifically was impossible with the tech at the time, and b) war targets now included industrial plants, transportation, and utilities to support the war effort. These were more or less close to masses of civilians or used by them.

However, the laws of war are still consistent in that they require proportionality and avoidance of civilian casualties if at all possible. Direct targeting of civilians and their housing is a war crime. Dual use is iffy. And any targeting of illegal combatants has to be on an individual, not group basis.

Since we are spending billions of our tax dollars and obviously the entire establishment thinks this is a super good idea worth risking an expanding war over surely they have a good reason.

A "ghost gun" is a one-off hand made gun. You can't sell it or give it away unless you get a serial # from the ATF.
One must have machinery and skillz to build one. It isn't an assembled gun made of premade parts, as the lower has a serial # on it already.
Now listen to the leftist media drone on about "ghost guns" and not once will they say what they actually are.

404 Hospital DON set a policy that all nurses are to immediately initiate the sepsis order set for any patient flagged as potential sepsis by the EMR.

The Electronic Medical Record has an AI system which monitors patient data and will set an alert if the patient meets certain criteria. It is meant to alert the doc to re-evaluate the patient and consider they might be septic. It alerts the nurses so they can inform the doc. Most of the time the alert is false, or the patient is already receiving appropriate treatment.
What the DON has directed is for the nurses to inform the doc, but also immediately draw a bunch of labs, flood the patient wit 3L of IV fluids and start 3 IV antibiotics. This is pushing her authority and the intent of the sepsis alert and protocol orders. But she is operating at the top of her license.
So I had a patient pushed into heart failure because of this. Patient survived, but had a much more complicated course. I refuse to sign the protocol orders the nurse initiated. So there is a big impasse. I am required to sign protocol orders, but the protocol orders were initiated improperly. Poor floor nurse is stuck in the middle.

423 So, a fair number of people insist that groups should be punished for individual actions which is not consistent with the laws of war and what got those involved in My Lai charged with violating them.If you have granny as a sniper in an apartment building, you can take out granny but not blow up the entire apartment building killing innocents to get her. Your response has to be proportional to the attack. Same as targeting transportation hubs, you can inadvertently miss the target hitting civilians but not observe a mass of people on a train platform and thus bomb it on the rationale that some of those people work in defense industries or are illegal combatants.

If you mine an area, you are supposed to remove those mines when you withdraw, and so on. Booby traps are indiscriminate weapons and thus improperly aimed at civilians as well as military targets. And so on. The principle is that armies can attack legitimate military targets but must avoid civilian casualties if at all possible. WWII was an aberration in that the destructiveness of devices improved but targeting of these weapons was woefully deficient. So tit for tat happened in Europe regarding aerial bombings.

Genocide is a ridiculous charge made by a decrepit puppet. Much like FDR's ridiculous Unconditional Surrender demand.

War crimes is a more murky area and the Ukrainians have done themselves no favors by their propaganda which makes people doubt whether or not mass killings of civilians and burials occurred via Russians or their allies. Here, though, Russian bluster and their use of auxiliaries known for atrocities weigh against them. The Wagner group, enlisting Arabs from war crime ridden Syria, and the use of Chechen units that have committed past war crimes, into Ukraine is a black mark that Putin is trying to put deniability on any war crimes committed against civilians. Won't wash with me any more than the British could escape blame for their Hessian hires.

434 >>So, you act like the neighborhood bully, you get treated as one. And that is one reason that Mexico insists on going its own way in politics is because of past incursions by the US and a war or two.

True. But that also ignores the year of NATO eastward expansion toward Russia and assume that wasn't seen as a provocative move by Russia. It was and was stated as such many times throughout the years.

It's not taking Putin's side by trying to understand his mindset and understand that every action will cause a reaction.

Starting in 2008 with the move by NATO to begin the discussion of allowing Georgia and Ukraine into NATO Putin made it very clear that he considered that a provocation and he would react in turn. When we took further steps in Georgia Putin invaded.

Fast forward to Ukraine where the west ran a coup and took down a duly elected president favorable to Russia and replaced him with a corrupt, western allied puppet and the match was lit. Biden's hints last fall that NATO was "open to Ukraine" lit the fuse and he did nothing to stop it.

If you keep poking the bear you can't be surprised when he takes a swipe.

It is a tiresome defense that poor Russia was forced to do what it did via Abkhazia etc. on some vague notions of protecting ethnic Russians everywhere. That has no basis in international law nor sovereignty which the Russians are so prone to spout. Under that idea, Germany was justified in invading France because Russia started mobilizing before WWI started because France was an ally of Russia and stated German policy was not to let Germany fight a two front war.

Wilson's incursions after Pancho Villa had the shred of at least chasing a criminal that attacked the US from Mexico. JJ, it does not work that way via international law. You still have to have proportionality in your attack and must avoid attacking civilians unless they are carrying arms, wearing a uniform, etc.

The laws of war are convoluted but mass callups of males happened in WWI in Belgium for example and that did not permit Germans to kill male civilians lawfully on the grounds that they were of a certain age and male and might be subject to the callup.

Guess what, that argument can be used in domestic law as well. If a government does not enforce it; is it a law. The truth is that Putin has damaged Russia for decades with his stupid invasion just like the US damaged itself via its invasion of Iraq the second time.

The US case for war was WMDs and when by and large they did not appear, it damaged the US in blood and treasure. Ditto for the Libyan and Syrian adventures. Best policy is to avoid needless wars that do not involve something like Israel's pre-emptive strike in the Six Days War.
