The judge now has to decide whether to approve the limited bankruptcy of the Boy Scouts of America. Limited in the sense that they're trying to skate away with 80% of assets intact. So far, it looks like close to three billion dollars are pledged for the around 90,000 former Scouts who have filed a claim of sexual abuse. If approved the lawyers get 1/3rd or close to one billion dollars.

Each individual Scout? About $34,000 if divided equally. What a f_cking joke.

I simply can not fathom how they think the abuse will not continue. Actually, IMO what crashed the system finally was when one single Scout in California sued the BSA and won something like a TEN MILLION dollar award. The BSA did the math with the thousands of abusers they knew about and had on file and knew they would be wiped out. But the trial lawyers *spit* came to the rescue *spit* and will get them off the hook.

77 My boys and I had a great time in Scouting. We did things they might not have ever been able to do. I remember on one canoe trip we found a rope swing over the river and they all spent some time on it. Many of those boys had never swung on a rope out over a river. I have had some tell me that was one of their favorite trips.

There no reason you can't do many of the things that Boy Scouts used to do with your own kids though. Teach them to use a knife, to tie knots, how to camp, shoot, and fish. Archery in the back yard. Do all of the run stuff Scouting use to be about before the Leftys destroyed it.

Even if the leaders are okay, if there is camping involved, perhaps a rifle range, the 'outsiders' like that you know nothing about. Which is who got into our campsite one late afternoon when he knew the Scout leaders were in a meeting.

The leaders should have called the cops but all they did was drive him off the grounds and dumped him out. Perhaps re-hired him the next week when a new group of Scout troops arrived.

A couple weeks ago the lake was bitter cold and some newbie to sailing went out on a gusty day. He fortunately was wearing a life jacket, as he tipped over, righted it, went a couple hundred feet, tipped over again. All together he tipped seven times before he got the knack of it. It was painful to watch.

A kinda 'new' thing at the lake are paddleboards. Babes get together and paddle around in bikinis. Not many sailboats, but a lot of kayaks and paddleboards. It's always humorous to me when someone launches an 18 foot long boat with a 200 horsepower outboard, then fires up the tiny electric motor and cruises past at 2 mph.

100 70 and sunny today. Lately it's been cloudy and cool. Everybody complaining about how cold it was, even though it was in the 50s. Just that right mix of humidity, dew point and wind to make it feel a lot colder. Barometer was floating just over 29 and I was aching a lot.

203 Saw an opinion piece this morning in Idaho Statesman ripping on Ammon Bundy who was found in contempt of court and fined for not performing 40 hours of community service for his J6 protest. The writer gave a list of deplorable things Bundy has done over the years without conviction or punishment. Looked more like a list of things Sam Adams, Patrick Henry or George Washington would do. Good on him.
