The Saturday Night Joke

A woman ran a red traffic light and crashed into a man's car late at night on a deserted intersection. Both of their cars are demolished, but amazingly neither of them was hurt. After they crawled out of their cars, the woman said; "Wow, just look at our cars!

There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days.”

The man replied, "I agree with you completely. This must be a sign from God!"

The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished, but my bottle of 75 year old scotch didn't break. Surely God meant for us to drink this vintage delicacy and celebrate our good fortune."

Then she handed the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opened it, drank half the bottle and then handed it back to the woman. The woman took the bottle, immediately put the cap back on, and handed it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

She replies, “Nah! I think I'll just wait for the police."

Many years ago, Adam ate the apple. Men will never learn!

The ONT Is Always Looking Out For YouTM. Cities you should probably avoid.

To determine which cities in the United States are the most dangerous, we compiled data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report and viewed each city’s violent crime rate. Violent crimes include: murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assaults.

Only cities with populations of 100,000 people or more were considered for the list. Violent crime rate is calculated by dividing the total numbers of violent crime by the total population; the result is multiplied by 100,000.

The national average for violent crime is 398.5 per 100,000 people and the The national average for property crime is 1958.2

Oh wonderful! White Castle grease food to be delivered by robot.

We’ve previously reported on Flippy, a robot arm, manufactured by a company called Miso Robotics. It exists for one purpose: to make your fast food. You all knew this was coming, right? (Of course you did.) Robots and machines already assemble a lot of your industrial packaged goods, it was just a matter of time before a mechanical army would be the one slinging your burgers and fries. For ages, actually seeing a robot put together parts of your meal might have seemed like a slightly distant dream, but guess what, everyone? It’s happening.

What is Flippy the robot?
White Castle is rolling out a new fleet of 100 Flippys (Flippy 2, to be exact) gradually within the next few years, and these robots are specifically dedicated to the deep fryer station. I’m talkin’ fries, chicken rings, fish patties—if part of your lunch is taking a bath in oil before it gets to you, those 100 Flippy units’ll be doing all the cooking.

Not all braggarts are Genius Award Winners. But this one is. Genius Award Winner.

A photo of a male teenager posing with drugs, guns and cash led to the arrest of the 17-year-old along with his passenger, Texas authorities say.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says it began an investigation on March 29 after learning the teen was posting to social media that he had THC cartridges, weapons and cash. The photos were “reportedly posted to Instagram.”

Investigators tracked down the teen and pulled him over, according to a March 30 news release. Deputies found hash oil, a loaded handgun and money in the vehicle.

Authorities say they received a search warrant for the teenager and his 21-year-old passenger’s home in southwest San Antonio, where they found “two handguns, a high powered pistol, cocaine, hash oil, marijuana, and $15,000.00 in cash.”

Both were arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail, according to the news release.

SIX FLAGS CANCELS UNLIMITED DINING PASS MONTHS AFTER GUY WHO ATE ALL HIS MEALS THERE FOR YEARS WENT VIRAL
Dylan paid just $150 a year for the privilege of taking each of his meals in the shadow of the amusement park’s famous roller coasters. But it looks like the ride has come to an end

Last October, after MEL published an article on Dylan, an electrical engineer from Southern California who ate all his meals at Six Flags over the course of seven years for just the cost of a $150 annual Dining Pass, his life went completely viral. Soon, stories about his unique cost-saving hack were hard to miss; he even watched a full segment about it on the Daily Show.

At first, he thought it was fun to see his quirky story in the news, but when producers and reporters began hounding his wife at early hours in the morning to try to get an interview, he realized things had gotten out of hand. So he stayed clear of the media limelight, and slowly, the attention subsided. After a while, it seemed like Dylan could finally get back to his normal life.

63 DeSantis is threatening to have the Florida Legislature rescind Disney's 'Reedy Creek Improvement District' law of self-governance dating back from 1967.

It would mean the end of Disney in Florida. Worse, it might mean the end of Disney period as a resort and entertainment destination. The company needs this self-governance in order to skirt the bureaucracy that comes with maintaining the amount of property it manages. Not having to obtain state and local permits or present for approval "environmental impact studies" on all its constructions and improvements is how pretend woke Disney has gotten by these last 50 years.

It's all going under if DeSantis gets this done, and they know it - but they still are doubling down on the woke. Dumb.

85 Yeah, I was done giving Disney my money a while ago. I was a superhero movie fangirl, but I was done with them after Endgame. They will almost all suck because the writers have no clue what makes a good story or good person any more. I know the Spiderman movie did well, but I think that's an outlier.

94 Halfway home from the funeral. Almost made it through the service without crying... then the pastor read Psalm 23 and most of us lost it, because Grandma and Grandpa raised sheep. We also had a hard time when a poem about Grandma's quilting was read, because Grandpa had written it and he's been gone for fourteen years. But we got through it, lunch was had and food was sent home, because that's how we always left Grandma's. Pooky and Pookette are ready to be out of the car and at home, and I think I am too after saying goodbye.

137 An interesting new Twitter account by Greg Yudin, Head of Political Philosophy, The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka).

He wrote an article two days before the Ukrainian invasion predicting that Putin would try to conquer all of Ukraine, unlike the conventional wisdom that Putin at most would try to grab the half of the Donbass not in the "People's Republics" (which I also believed).

He was beaten by the cops at an anti-war protest so badly that he was hospitalized. He's still in Moscow - a brave man.

He's posted a few articles about the current situation, and has a lengthy Twitter thread about the current mood in Moscow. Two takeaways: 1) Muscovites think that this will all blow over in a few months; and 2) Muscovites think that Russia will win, because Russia is willing to use nuclear weapons, and the West isn't. (Yudin thinks that the West is greatly underestimating Russia's willingness to use nuclear weapons.)

The hilarious thing is that upstream from the Federal dams are Idaho Power's dams, which don't have fish ladders and aren't coming out. Salmon didn't spawn in that stretch of the Snake anyway, so all you're doing is giving salmon access to a handful of minor Snake tributaries by taking out the Fed dams.

160 He wrote an article two days before the Ukrainian invasion predicting that Putin would try to conquer all of Ukraine

This seems to come mostly from western sources. Conquering western Ukraine will get Putin tens of millions of people that hate him...and it doesn't match his past actions in Georgia.

If Zelensky keeps refusing to give the Russian enclaves though after his army has been defeated I could see Putin making a bid for the Eastern parts of Ukraine that voted for Yanukovych back before the CIA coup. Take them, dig in, and basically make it a fait accompli

Basically, in the last mostly free election in Ukraine, the Eastern part voted for candidates that favored a more balanced relationship between Europe and Russia, and the Western parts voted for strong proponents of European integration.

---------

I remember reading about this baback in the oate '6os when Disney finally revealed they had been secretly buying up land in central Florida.

Essentially the company was allowed to have its own county. It would be free from interference by local police, health inspectors, fire marshals, building inspectors, etc.

Very different from Disneyland, which even today must have its expansion plans and construction approved by the City of Anaheim.

The FNM has been floating positive stories about the use of nukes, and Biden himself has indirectly alluded to using them.

At some level I'm guessing the FNM gets they can't just send a half a million western soldiers to fight Putin - Europe can't field anything significant, and America would need to be bring back the draft - and that gets them a real insurrection in DC. So basically nukes or let Putin take what he wants.

183 This seems to come mostly from western sources. Conquering western Ukraine will get Putin tens of millions of people that hate him

Putin thinks he can install a pro-Russian government in Ukraine.

and it doesn't match his past actions in Georgia

But that's the problem - Putin has been expansionist, but very cautious for the first twenty years of his rule. Most people predicted that that would continue.

Putin's trying to blitz all of Ukraine is way, way outside the bounds of Putin's previous actions. Whether it's serious disease, Covid isolation, or whatever, Putin's past behavior is no longer a good guide to predicting his future behavior.

It is incredibly difficult to organise here; you are immediately arrested by the police or beaten up by the state-sponsored thugs. The lack of organisation is demoralising. People are willing to risk their lives, despite the new laws and increased police violence. But it's hard to do that when one sees no way to achieve something. Putin always wins by spreading helplessness."

208 Putin's trying to blitz all of Ukraine is way, way outside the bounds of Putin's previous actions.

I think he expected Ukraine would fold and give up the Russian enclaves early on. Since they've been fighting the locals there since 2014, and there obligated to give them autonomy anyway, it would seem a reasonable bet.

But...that's not what's happening. The Uke army is beat and Zelensky is going to use his own people as a human shield, hoping that when the Russians turn the heavy artillery on Kiev the Western countries will join the war.

I suspect, as well, that the Biden junta has conditioned rebuilding moneys on Zelensky not making peace with Russia without their permission...hoping somehow they can get the US into the war.

One other thing to keep in mind, some on the left have been comparing Biden to FDR of late, and keep in mind FDR spent a lot of effort trying to get the US into the war in Europe before Pearl Harbor.

Biden claimed that if someone used WMD in Ukraine, referring either to someone using chemical weapons or something coming out of "our" bio-labs that we would respond in kind...which would mean nukes. Biden is basically unable to speak a clear thought...but that seems to have been his point.

And a lot of the commentary on this stuff from Biden and his allies seem to really be begging for Azov or some other group to stage a false flag attack.

Russia using nukes in Ukraine frankly makes no sense. They can just use traditional artillery if they want to level Kiev.

Russia has a small force, and underwhelming logistics.

The temptation is always to gut logistics and combat support services in hard economic times which directly destroys force projection capabilities and mission and systems readiness across the board.

The military would be better served relying on combat arms guard and reserve formations and keeping logistics and combat support in the regular TO ampersand E.

Speaking of cats, we've got two kittens, well, they're a little bit over a year old now. Also, Big Jake, a 16 lb yellow tomcat that appeared at the farm about two years ago or so. He splits his time here and at the folks' house, which is about 600' away.

He's an impressive predator, a killing machine. He caught a nearly full grown rabbit one time, and tried to drag him in the house. He's caught as many as three big field mice in one night. He took a shine to the kittens when they were little. He still brings them prey he catches and lets them have it.

Anyway, I got to see him in actual killing mode, not play mode. Miley found a laser pointer she had somewhere, and we had fun with the kittens. Then Big Jake showed up, and Miley tried it with him

He went into full predator mode. Pupils dilated, and he start swatting and pouncing that little red dot. He was in killer mode. And he was fast. Like lightning. A blur. No matter were that red dot went, a paw was on top it.

And so I saw why Jake is so damned good.

I sat down in the shade with her, and she let the mouse loose, but kept it close at paw. She made her little "talk" mews to me, purring loudly. Then, while purring loudly, she delivered the killing neck bite to the mouse, and proceeded to eviscerate it, all the while purring and being cute and cuddly.

Ying and yang. At the same time.

Maybe Russian cities have a density/small apartment issue where dogs are impractical. I'm sure there are more cat pets than dog pets in NYC, e.g. There's the added bonus you don't have to walk them twice a day and pick up the poo, too, although cats love a good walk outside on a leash like dogs; that's a reason 'catios' became a thing. Most people don't bother thinking of what makes their cat happy, though, because most people are asshoe.

I welcome cats killing all the mice and rodents they want, but I don't like them killing birds. I have to live with it, 'cause a cat is going to catch a bird if it can, but I don't like it.

Big Jake actually caught and killed a dove, a pretty big one the other day. He brought it up on the back porch and let the two one year olds have it. He displays actual maternal behavior, which is weird. Catch prey and give to the kittens.

They had a ball with that dove. Quite a mess to clean off the porch after they got through with it.

Another Russian military holdover from the Soviet era that makes their military 3rd class is their treatment of the lower ranks. Beatings only work in training if, when the battle begins, the NKVD/FSB compliance machine gunners are behind them.

The Soviets had a high casualty rate in WWII because they basically didn't value Ivan's life. A "there's more where they came from" military philosophy does not bode well for front line troops.

Bird behavior is fun to watch around cats. They "fuss" at cats as my mother called it. Nesting birds will try to run off cats and distract them to keep the cat away from their nests.

They "dive bomb" them. Cat walking around, and these angry birds start dive bombing. Sometimes, however, that dive bomb maneuver goes awry, and the cat gets the bird.

Birds will "play lame" sometimes, trying to lead the cat away from their nest. The bird will land, and act like it can't fly, hoping to lure the cat away. Make the cat think it is easy prey, a lame bird.

Turned out it was a snake, crawling up the tree, going for their nest. The birds were frantically trying to drive the snake off.

Let any kind of raptor break the horizon over the cat's '20.

That profile is wired down in the very spinal base of the wee kitty brain. Said cat will leave a vapor trail while nearly breaking the Mach as it seeks cover. Cats will "evade" a coyote or such. But a raptor ignites a cat reaction like none other, and that reaction is .. never mind. That cat's done gone over the horizon, now.

Funny thing I read about cats, domesticated and wild. They love seafood, although that is neither's natural prey. But I saw my friend's kitty go friggin' bonkers over a cooked shrimp. You could almost read her thoughts: "Where have you been all my life?"

Seafood has high levels of taurine which is essential to a cat's metabolism. So even though it's not their natural prey, it's got what cat's crave.

564 Tis time.

Be thankful we live in this most exceptional (still) country. We are in the midst of a struggle as we have been in each generation, some rather trivial and some very serious.

It's part of our heritage to ensure the Republic survives and is given to succeeding generations. We all have our part to play whatever it may be.

So remember that we've met and prevailed over issues and situations throughout our history with an unbroken string of victories. Not surprising, considering that as Americans we're denied the option of failure. Never forget that.

Goodnite, good people. Be safe, stay warm and sleep well.

567 On DDG (away from which I'm trying to wean myself), I have "safe search" set to "none." I often check out pix of folks - gals, usually - mentioned on this fine blog, whom I don't know - to see what they look like. I highlight the name, right-click, choose search-with, scroll down to "image search." Every now and then, I get the results and realize, oh, whoopsie, that was a porn star. Too rare to reset my "safe search," but sometimes, we'll say, embarrassing. (Looks around to see if MiladyJo was watching.)

Funny thing is, in my "search with" list, DDG image search is right below... BibleGateway. So, I can't get to the pix without passing by You-Know-Who's Watching.

Admittedly, sometimes I want a "safe search" setting that just shows the results that would be filtered out by "strong" or "moderate." For reasons.

Those hawks are smart. We have some around here. The kittens are now too big, and we were careful not to the let them out of the house until they were big enough. A hawk will get a young kitten.

Anyway, over the years, I've noticed the hawks note when there is plowing or mowing going on. They know that will stir up field mice and other prey out of their hidey holes. The hawks will perch on power lines or in the tree lines around fields, waiting for you to stir up the prey.

Watching a hawk swoop down and catch a field mouse is a beautiful thing to see.

I've noticed that. In general they'll eat fish tidbits off a hooman's plate but if it's freshwater fish they won't eat it out of their own plate. In Africa someone once brought me a large lake fish. I tried raw but all 4 cats whiffed it and refused it. I tried cooking it, both boiling and frying but to no avail. Eventually ended up in the trash. Meanwhile they lived almost wholly on mashed pilchards (in cans marked as cat food).

Watching Nature's survival of the fittest drama play out is pretty awesome. When I see that, I'm always reminded I do not want an understudy role in that production. At my Grandma's house, cats were not pets but feral. They were never fed as their job, if they wanted to eat, was to catch vermin.

On a philosophical note: I think far too many kids growing up today are removed from that daily drama and that lack gives them a distorted view of life, itself. That can then lead them down the 'everything is beautiful' woke path. Sometimes I think the only cure for wokism is The Burning Times.

I didn't grow up on a farm, but my family had many country people with farms of varying sizes and products. When you see Porky in the pen one day, hanging upside down with a bullet hole in his head the next, and the day after that sausage being made, it gives you perspective, especially to a six-or-seven-year-old. I believe we've become far too removed from the very thing which sustains us, our food.

579 So let's recap: the Establishment is strongly in favor of:
Making you pay way more for food
Making you pay way more for gas
Making it impossible for you to buy a vehicle that meets your requirements by jacking up MPG ridiculously
Claiming the answer is electric cars that aren't affordable, don't really exist, and can't be charged with the current power grid
Celebrating what most people see as sexual perversion
Insisting on discussing the perversion with little kids
Encouraging physical mutilation of kids who haven't even reached puberty yet
Teaching different ethnic\racial groups to hate each other
Insisting that people can't notice obvious fake men and women as the highest civic virtue
Threatening nuclear war over a distant country's political leadership
Promising famine and poverty in the near future as a direct result of government policies
Can you think of a more all inclusive plan to make the vast majority of a population absolutely hate you and what you stand for?

If Russia invades Turkey from the rear, would Greece help?

If Putin invades India and wins will he be called Raj Putin

Vladimir Putin, to get on the good side of voters, goes to visit a school in Moscow to have a chat with the kids. He talks to them about how Russia is a powerful nation and how he wants the best for the people. At the end of the talk there is a section for questions. Little Sasha puts her hand up and says, "I have two questions. Why did the Russians take Crimea and why are we sending troops to the Ukraine?" Putin says, "Good questions". But just as he is about to answer the bell goes and the kids go to lunch.
When they come back, they sit down and there is room for some more questions. Another girl, Misha, puts her hand up and says "I have four questions. Why did the Russians invade Crimea, why are we sending troops to the Ukraine, why did the lunch bell go 20 minutes early and where is Sasha?

But for the the XX chromosome makeup, basically this extraordinary ability thing is basically Elle MacPherson ability.

It's like there's a fundamental difference between XX and XY chromosomes, and what we consider "extraordinary". The modern Woke nonsense does not like this, but it seems to be the Order of Things.
