Here's the problem I see with it. In the animation, there is only one lane going straight through right-to-left and left-to-right. A busier road would require more. So then if I wanted to turn left, I would have to turn right and merge through all of those lanes in time to make it to the u-turn lane. And if I wanted to go straight (bottom-to-top or vice versa), I would have to do it twice. It's like a round-about but dumber.

Problem is, on this Linux box, Twatter is very slow to load. Brave does not seem to play well with gifs. And once loaded, it's hard to close the fricken tab. Nitter is less bad.

Bottom line, making clothes from flax was a bitch.

150 I have several different types of flax for spinning. Just haven't tackled that project yet. Most of the linen fabric you see is coarser and stiffer than old linen. It softens and gets a shine to it, over time. And when you spin, you dip your fingers into water to sort of glue the fibers together.

AZ State Patrol does something like that every year for the Renaissance Festival. Event is held on a site just off U.S. 60 between Gold Canyon and Florence junction, out in the desert. 60 is a four-lane divided road, but not limited-access. Approaching the site from the west, through traffic is all guided into the left-hand lane, and festival traffic into the right. Festival traffic into the site turns right into the access road. Festival traffic leaving the site turns right into the otherwise-closed right lane of 60, without having to stop, and gets up to speed, then merges into the left lane, to exit left into a crossroad. Westbound 60 at that point has through traffic all shunted to the right lane, allowing festival traffic to enter the left lane unhindered. Lanes remain separated for another mile, to let entering traffic get up to speed. Effect is like a stretched-out traffic circle. Every one goes a little slower (45 mph) but nobody has to stop and wait. Works well.

Depends on traffic load. If in a high traffic area? Traffic circles are counter productive as you have to stop to allow the already moving traffic to pass.

His videos shows Kiev isn't a war zone. He just walks around pretty empty streets where nothing is going on. It was easy peasy for him to get a hotel room.

Every so often there is an air raid siren. But there are no bombs that follow it up.

Agreed. Town of Apache Junction has a traffic circle where Superstition Blvd. crosses N. Apache Trail (Hwy. 8

obliquely. Used to be thru traffic on 88, stop signs on the Blvd. Crossing 88 on the boulevard, you had to really crane your neck to see 50 mph traffic approaching from your right. And of course you couldn't cross until both lanes were clear. I remember waiting 2-3 minutes at a stretch before a clear opportunity to cross arose.

Town replaced it with a traffic circle. Most of the time now, I scarcely have to slow down, and if there is "cross" traffic, it's only the vehicles approaching from the left I have to worry about. It has been a huge improvement. Every intersection is different, and not all can benefit from a traffic circle, but some surely can.

I don't want to start an argument but if the traffic circle is properly designed then the entering traffic is supposed to merge into the flow from the left, ASSUMING NON-BOSTONIAN DRIVERS ON THE LEFT, without stopping.

Yup.

Here in Kentucky the veggies are spotty. Some good, most not. Some days there are shortages of (fill in the blank) and what is there is nasty. Boxed cereal is questionable too. Wife got a box of Cheerios with the bag inside opened. Who knows what was put in there. Picked up a package of Jimmy Dean sausage that had a split on the side... meat ruined. It goes on and on.

Out here in Little Oaxaca on the Miami, Jewells, the fast food places are hit and miss because there are 2-3 people there usually and if it's busy time they are getting a little frazzled with the orders. (Last Sunday I went to a Wendy in Xenia that actually had a full crew of six and it blew me away.) However the family sit-down places have good service because they are desperate for tips, and because it's SW OH and people are actually still polite in public.

347 297 Has anyone noticed that not only has the price of groceries skyrocketed, but said goods are lower in quality? Some vegetables are either rotter or tasteless, meats are tough, discolored and tasteless? Same price for 1/3 less on pasta and rice.

In my part of Canada, meat has definitely gone up. Bacon is much higher but we have crazy amounts I kept picking up on sale. And I like Turkey bacon which is cheaper.

We've been lucky. I eat simple. The meat counter has been emptier than usual though. And crazy prices..

Yep, I agree. Some of the local restaurants here seem to be doing okay. Places like Applebees etc.. dying.

If all the Applebees in the greater Cincinnati area went under, few would mourn. But if the Fantasy Diner or Spinning Forchetto have to close I'll be pissed off.

349 I know what happened to the pork products, though. Most of the pork processing companies in the USA have significant Chinese ownership. China's harvests and hog farms have suffered in the past few years. Guess where a lot of that pig meat is going? The Chinese party members and wealthy magnates are eating well, while the peasants eat poisoned trash and plastic rice.

350 When I cut and paste the error message (from your Inman links) my post here gets rejected. *-ing out letters did not help. I assume there must be non-printable characters in the error message. So I put it through a simple text editor to strip out the non-printable characters, and I will now try to attach that message here:

This software in general only allows plain text. Any special characters will get your post rejected. Learning to post here, especially quoting someplace else, is tricky for the best of us.

But the main problem with the Inman videos is a change by twitter which requires a twitter account to get past the age restriction.

357 347, I had a turkey bacon recently and it was not bad. I would take almond milk too if it was offered to me.It is shocking the prices we pay, the prices we put up with. I remember when $10 for a six of craft beer was odd. Now we pay $6 for a watermelon. Dollar Tree is now $1.25 Tree, and no one bats an eye
