People still be stopping at those intersections. Guaranteed.
Here's the problem I see with it. In the animation, there is only one lane going straight through right-to-left and left-to-right. A busier road would require more. So then if I wanted to turn left, I would have to turn right and merge through all of those lanes in time to make it to the u-turn lane. And if I wanted to go straight (bottom-to-top or vice versa), I would have to do it twice. It's like a round-about but dumber. Posted by: Oddbob at March 11, 2022 07:48 PM (nfrXX) 31

The whole place is minimalist. Very few decorations, all tastefully arranged. Even the cats are neatly organized for feeding time. To make clothing, flax had to be wetted and rotted for 2-3 weeks, then slow-dried over fire pits. The woody parts then broken up with a flax brake. The broken flax then needed to be "scutched" (or "swingled") to knock the broken bits of stalk out of the fibers. The fibers were then pulled through progressively finer "hetchels."
The coarsest fibers were used to make canvas and sacking. The next level was used for "tow linen" mens' work clothes. The finest fibers were used for women's and children's clothes and mens' "Sunday best." All of these had to be spun on a flax spinning wheel (or "little wheel.") Bottom line, making clothes from flax was a bitch. Posted by: Guy Smiley - I am here. Standing...here. at March 11, 2022 08:14 PM (HsAzN) 105

Now Romney thinks it's brilliant to try to hype up a war with a nuclear power over an area that has only been independent for about 30 out of the last 500 years and finds people who don't know what gender they were born as amazing and compelling. I have several different types of flax for spinning. Just haven't tackled that project yet. Most of the linen fabric you see is coarser and stiffer than old linen. It softens and gets a shine to it, over time. And when you spin, you dip your fingers into water to sort of glue the fibers together.

Dude, it's a traffic rhomboid.
Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Proprietor of the Outrage Outlet at March 11, 2022 08:28 PM (FVME7) AZ State Patrol does something like that every year for the Renaissance Festival. Event is held on a site just off U.S. 60 between Gold Canyon and Florence junction, out in the desert. 60 is a four-lane divided road, but not limited-access. Approaching the site from the west, through traffic is all guided into the left-hand lane, and festival traffic into the right. Festival traffic into the site turns right into the access road. Festival traffic leaving the site turns right into the otherwise-closed right lane of 60, without having to stop, and gets up to speed, then merges into the left lane, to exit left into a crossroad. Westbound 60 at that point has through traffic all shunted to the right lane, allowing festival traffic to enter the left lane unhindered. Lanes remain separated for another mile, to let entering traffic get up to speed. Effect is like a stretched-out traffic circle. Every one goes a little slower (45 mph) but nobody has to stop and wait. Works well. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 11, 2022 08:43 PM (P3gRi) 179

But I can go to https://steveinmanvideos.com/videos/ and get a fix. If my download speed was not so stinking slow that would probably work fairly well. I don't know why the twitter links play better, maybe twitter have tech that downsizes the images automatically or something.
It is not worth it to me to rejoin twitter (I have a forgotten account that I never deleted, I don't know if they auto-deleted it after X years of never logging into it) just to have better access to the Inman vids in spite of how fun they are. I can hope someday its work Inman's while to put content on a site that doesn't hate him, but probably the non censoring alternates don't have enough traffic to pay at this time. Nope. Usually you don't have to stop at a traffic circle so you save on gas and time.
Posted by: Ciampino at March 11, 2022 08:47 PM (qfLjt) Agreed. Town of Apache Junction has a traffic circle where Superstition Blvd. crosses N. Apache Trail (Hwy. 8 obliquely. Used to be thru traffic on 88, stop signs on the Blvd. Crossing 88 on the boulevard, you had to really crane your neck to see 50 mph traffic approaching from your right. And of course you couldn't cross until both lanes were clear. I remember waiting 2-3 minutes at a stretch before a clear opportunity to cross arose. Town replaced it with a traffic circle. Most of the time now, I scarcely have to slow down, and if there is "cross" traffic, it's only the vehicles approaching from the left I have to worry about. It has been a huge improvement. Every intersection is different, and not all can benefit from a traffic circle, but some surely can. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 11, 2022 08:59 PM (P3gRi) 240
