So I went to a shrink and told him, "I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared and I think I'm going crazy.” "Just put yourself in my hands for one year," said the shrink. "Come in and talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears." “How much do you charge?” "Eighty dollars per visit", replied the doctor. "I'll sleep on it", I said. Six months later the doctor met me on the street. "Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked. "Well, eighty bucks a visit, three times a week for a year is $12,480.00. A bartender cured me for $10.00. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup truck." "Is that so?" With a bit of an attitude, he said, "and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?” "He told me to cut the legs off the bed. Ain't nobody under there now!” FORGET THE SHRINKS, HAVE A DRINK AND TALK TO A BARTENDER! ITS ALWAYS BETTER TO GET A SECOND OPINION! A Russian person has stockpiled McDonald’s burgers after it was announced all locations would temporarily shut in the country. The CEO of McDonald’s said closing the stores is the right thing to do due to the ‘needless human suffering in Ukraine’. There were huge queues on Tuesday as people flocked to get a final bite of their favourite meals from a McDonald’s in Moscow. And now, it has emerged one Russian diner has bought in bulk. What say you Morons? Any time two household appliances can be merged into one is a big win for those living in a small apartment, but while a garbage can isn’t exactly an appliance, upgrading one with a built-in vacuum cleaner is kind of a genius idea because it eliminates the extra step of emptying a standalone vac. It may come as no surprise to longtime readers that the trashcuum cleaner, as I will call it just that once, is another ‘innovation’ from Japan’s Thanko. The company is obsessively focused on creating gadgets and devices that address hyper-specific needs, but every once in a while it comes up with something that’s genuinely clever—even moreso than a smartphone wrist mount, if you can believe that. Just kidding Fabulous. But I do remember you have a birthday coming up. No history tonight. It's a really, really, really long song edition.................... ARCH 9--Wearing a bathrobe and a holster on his hip, the owner of a $1.1 million Florida home threatened to shoot his next-door neighbor and the man’s dog in retaliation for the victim's 7:45 AM leaf blowing, according to police. Investigators allege that Curtis Manfred Franz, 51, initially fired a pistol into the air seven times yesterday morning as a neighbor on Sunnybrook Lane in Largo used a blower to remove leaves from his roof. Minutes after hearing the gunfire, the neighbor told police, Franz appeared in his backyard holding a firearm. Franz, the victim recalled, told him to stop using the leaf blower and “then pointed his pistol at the victim’s dog and said, ‘I’m going to shoot your fucking dog,’” according to an arrest affidavit. Franz then told the victim, “If you keep using your blower I will shoot you too,” police allege. The neighbor told cops that Franz “was wearing a robe and had a black holster on his right hip.” Tonight's ONT has been brought to you by Bus Delays. So, I watched "The Last Days of Disco" by Whit Stillman, who is a very interesting filmmaker. He's kind of like Woody Allen or Paul Thomas Anderson in that his films kind of wander around a story but with the added bonus that you don't hate the characters and want them to die in a fire. It's mostly characters talking about stuff. But it does progress (unlike PTA) and when it's over you don't feel you need a shower (unlike WAllen).
Kind of surprised that TJM hasn't done a review of Whit Stillman's filmography but maybe that's because WS's views are like in the tens or something. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at March 12, 2022 10:10 PM (m0zqP) 55

Posted by: Buzzion at March 12, 2022 10:53 PM (ra05g) Bingo on the immunity. Even if it wasn't given so explicitly (it was) Big Pharma always has the legal defense that "We told the Government everything we knew at every step of the way, and they told us to go ahead with it!" Bingo, no fraud, just government deception, and that doesn't call for a court, that calls for a revolutionary army. I was reading the threads on reddit about DuckDuckGo about them getting on the censorship bandwagon and there are some seriously intelligent posts opposing it - why should some people get to decide what disinformation is? Aren't the people we are counting on now proven liars? Don't we have novels...and actual historical examples of how this turns out?

My wife like Perry Mason a lot (I like it some, even though it can be formulaic) She's been watching the box set recently. One thing you notice is that Raymond Burr had health problems even then - there are some shows where he absolutely looks like hell, eyes sunken in. And there's even a couple where he only appears a couple times, talking from a hospital bed, while other stars carry the lead. That wasn't done just because it was part of the script.

As I've gotten older the more doing the time change business aggravates.
It's nonsensical and only serves to highlight the old saw about you can't get rid of a Government project or tax. That's the only thing keeping this crap going is those lazy bastards in DC don't want to be known as the guys who shut it down. Doesn't matter if it messes peoples minds up, costs money and is a waste of time (hah!) Well I partially stopped that being retired and all. I don't have many critical appointments so I have one people clock that I change, my pocket watch that I change and my phone and computer take care of themselves. So I have one mechanical device (battery powered tho) so if the grid blows out I can tell time and all the rest is foo fa raw. How does kimchi taste?
Posted by: jakee308 at March 12, 2022 11:18 PM (9RkRx) There are a lot of kimchi types, the main type is fermented Napa cabbage with red pepper, garlic and a type of fermented soybean paste called doenjang. The fancier types have oysters and tiny shrimp fermented in it too, or at least anchovy paste. It is not bad, some other versions, like the type with Daikon leaves, are really spicy and can tear you up. Kimchi is a good pro-biotic, and probably good for you. Met a guy at a car club BBQ earlier tonight, a Polish guy, told me the story of his family, his mom's family, and the Russian occupation of the eastern half of Poland in 1940.
The Russians rounded up anybody above the social level of serf labor, jammed them all into prison camps, and ran out of space, then deported the 100,000 or so of overflow to points east and north, into the gulag regions of Siberia. His mom's dad was a teacher, she was 11 when the family got put on trains and dumped in the frozen wastes. After 7 years of near starvation, she escaped and bribed her way back west, then got money and traveled back east with liquor and cash to bribe and buy the survivors freedom, those being her mom and little brother. All had been forced to learn Russian, and were schooled with Soviet propaganda. Posted by: Mr Gaga at March 13, 2022 12:20 AM (KiBMU) 550

That top 20 list is nothing more than a claim of single sales and ranking them that way. Which is questionable to begin with because it is heavily weighted to a time when the majority of recorded music sales were singles. By the late 60s albums were primarily bought. Plus it's very hard to calculate sales today due to the multitude of ways to acquire songs. Musical taste is subjective anyway so there is no way to do a list of the "best" anything in music in general, especially ranked by number.

My "atomic watch" incorrectly handled the DST change, I realized. Long story, but the radio signal coming from Ft. Collins has two DST bits. On the day of the DST change, starting at 0:00 UTC, it flips on one bit that means "DST is coming on today". That change thus occurred at 7PM EST. When a radio clock notices that, it should then make the change at 2AM local time. This watch did not, it just jumped immediately. The other bit is turned on 24 hrs. later, and means DST came on the previous day. Thus DST bits of 11 means DST is on (everywhere). SMH!
I'm putting in wire racks in the guest bedroom. Canned goods by the whole flat to go on those. Just two of us here, so ordinary consumer sized cans, not the #10 commercial bulk cans. Just picked up 20 bags of 1 lb. brown rice bags. Need to find a bargain on an upright freezer, too. 2nd gunsafe is purchased, pending delivery. Oh, and though I prefer to buy bourbon in the 1.75l bottle, I'll also buy a few cases of pints. Because, barter. If I do build raised garden beds though, I'll barter sharecropping to green thumb neighbors. So long as I get a few Mason jars of canned goodness, we'll call it even. ___ Good. I've bought a bunch of wire shelves to go down in the basement, not to mention another freezer. Been on a dehydrator kick; fruits, veggies, meats, etc. I love my food sealer. You can even dehydrate bagged frozen veggies and grind them into powder. Posted by: SMH at God's grace at March 13, 2022 02:10 AM (Ls+Jx) 629

SMH. My talisman for cancer loss, will always be my Admin Assistant from 1998/99. Cheryl Johnson.
RIP, age 27, breast cancer. Her fiancee felt the lump, she went to the Dr., and ten months later, she was gone. Her family honored me by inviting me to be one of her pallbearers. So, when I commiserate with you as to the loss of your dear Robin, it's for real. The loss, is REAL. (hugs) Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at March 13, 2022 02:28 AM (QzJWU) 635

My father is 94, as I've mentioned, still going. Mind is not hitting on all 8 and he's sort of feeble, but he's still going. I remember how it hit me in the gut when his buddies, those of his generation around here started dying. They're gone, things just won't be the same. They were fixtures in my life, they all taught me many things and well over the years, and then they started going. That was a hit in the gut and quite a ponderous thing for a while. SMH. Coming on to a year ago April, was the first chance I'd had to visit my Mother's grave (Whittier, CA) for far too many years.
I owe a visit to Cheryl's final resting place in San Antonio, TX, too. But if you Horde wanna come visit me after I'm gone, you'll have to check out the mulch pile. Bullshit to Bullshit, Mulches to Mulch. It's in the Book of Fertilizers, Chapter I. Speaking of Pfizer and lawyers, I've been reading about some lawyers going over all the documents that have been released so far. Now, Pharma has immunity from vaccines, and even more immunity under this "emergency" than under regular order. But fraud and willful misconduct as legally defined will indeed pierce that immunity. It's a very high bar, sort of like "actual malice" for libel against a public figure. So what a normal person would consider fraud and misconduct ain't what the law considers it. Another problem is the FDA committed all the fraud and misconduct in partnership with Pharma. And that makes it harder, too. First Thessalonians 4:13 says, "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope."
Notice that the text does not say that we shouldn't grieve, just that we should grieve differently than those who have no hope. Posted by: SMH at God's grace at March 13, 2022 02:50 AM (Ls+Jx) 642
publius. Likewise. My Dad outlived many of his friends.
Step Mom outlived ALL of hers. Made her lonely, it did. My natural Mom went at age 54, and I was 19. Emergency Leave from the USAF, and I got there barely in time for one last squeeze of the hand. I'm beginning to see the wisdom of having "Hold My Beer And Watch This!" as one's final words on the tombstone. For those who are worried about chemo, no it's not fun. My husband has Stage IV and is on Folfiri and Cetuximab. We also do off label meds through an integrative oncologist. The side effects are there, but while certainly annoying, are bearable. Without chemo, my husband would almost certainly be gone. Instead we are planting a garden, taking to rockhounding trips up the coast, and enjoying our time with family. It has also given us time to look up alternative treatments/clinical trials. Everyone has to make their own choices, naturally, but I am treasuring every extra minute that we are given.
