Mirny diamond mine,

That's a big hole, man

More quarry porn.

Puppies crowding in for a group photo.

Pushing someone in da pool is funny throughout the animal kindom.

Playing with your parrot.

Oh, no -- was solving a Rubik's cube really this easy? Was it just cycling through the same four moves, without thinking, over and over until the puzzle was solved? Update: ... says no, it's not that easy, this is just reversing the moves that put it into this state.

Pug skate-train.

Dog showing amazing jumping finesse.

Siamese twins.

Black swan event.

I like pointing out that goats will jump up on anything.

In case some of you still don't believe me:

Content warning on this one. A lioness is chomping on the hindquarters of a cape buffalo.

Then the buffalo's mate comes along, and absolutely yeets the lioness to Mars.

The content warning is to alert you that the lioness probably does not survive this. She may survive a few days, but I don't think she survives the week.

Here's a cute one:

Lack of fencing/safety issues.

I had a book that did it mathematically - combinations of "moves" that adjusted a spot to another location without musing the others. Then with a couple of decisions of where to start you can just do the moves.

137 Browsing the russki wires, there's a story about a wanted criminal (murder) who is said to be in Ukraine now (just part of the non-stop propaganda or propaganda-ish stuff Russians are fed). Interesting part - first name "Togliatti".

So I figure the guy must be in his 40s at least. Togliatti was an Italian commie party chief. City where Fiat auto production was set up named after him. But this old Soviet thing about using stupid political words or proper names as first names is something I haven't seen in people's names in a while. All-time favorites were "Elektrifikatsia" (not a bad name, for women, typically shortened to "Elektra") and Roy ("dig!!!" - a hero-project canal slogan) - as in Roy Medvedev, the dissident historian (his brother was "Zhorez", after a Spanish commie leader).

Have never heard the short or nickname for the poor guys named "Traktor".

I had a Himmy Cat that used to do that to me, if I lay down. It also hurt, but she loved it so. I started leaving towels around to cover the area if I was wearing thin shirts.

She was funny in that she would skitter away if you walked near her, unless she was on something only an inch high or higher. And she would do the kneading thing if you lay down. She also used to regularly steal the sleeping spots of the boy cats if they got up, like clockwork. Needed an extra bed just in case.

Concur. There was a higher-priced one when I was looking that had more adjustability along more axes, but I couldn't actually adjust it enough to fit as well as the mid-tier one did.

It should go without saying, but you need to sit in a chair way longer than just "eh, feels OK" before deciding, so feel free to bring your laptop and coffee and a cat or two right into the store and sit your bathrobed ass down with your fuzzy bunny slippers and knock out a good four hours or so of work to see how it holds up.

Gave them to family and gfs who had them set in jewelry.

Years ago I read a "sequel" to War of the Worlds - not bu Wells - where Edison and others "strike back" at the Martians. They make a quick trip to the moon with the spaceship they invented improving on Martian Tech, and find a crater with "Moon Gems" all over and they ooh and ah about how much they are worth. Even at that age I said, about as valuable as sand since you have too many of them"

The humans bust open a canal and flood all of Mars, which I think went a little too far even for revenge for WatW.

189 OK I have to read the operators' manual because I've been slacking on requalifying on this chair. That's a lot of controls.

Yes, it will lock upright. It's got a little latch that releases the seatback, then you adjust it to where you want it, then re-clamp it. There's a tiny bit of play once it's locked, maybe 3° or so, which is more than it sounds like, just enough to be able to shift a bit. I think there's something that slides the seatpan back and forward too, gotta find that one.

205 167 Agree with the previous advice on getting an office chair. Go mid-range price-wise, I'd say. I had to get one a couple of months ago. Got it from Office Depot, and paid about a hundred bucks more than I'd intended, but it was well worth the extra money. It gives excellent back support, and my back and hips have been giving me a lot less trouble since I started using it.

My office is directly over one. I'm amazed at the stuff they move in and out of there. I've never been all that impressed by the quality of the donations but I have to say at least in Vermont they know their customer base. I've seen prices on junk thinking to myself that will never sell and next day when I'm downstairs checking the mailbox and I'll see someone carrying the item out. If you want something you have to check often because goods move in and out unbelievably fast.

I always wanted to make a one of those handcrafty puzzles with the the rings that are all connected together and you have to figure out how to unlink the rings and it looks impossible because you'd have to pass this ring right through this other metal ring, but if you know the trick...

Except they really would be impossible, absolutely no way to do it. And people could give them as gifts to people who need to learn the lesson of futility and just giving up on a hopeless and unrewarding task.

419 Our solar nightmare is hopefully coming to an end. We decided to get panels because we live in a low-lying rural area with power outages. If our sump pumps fail, our basement floods in 15 minutes. We have a generator, but middle of the night start up in a storm is sketchy. Taking a vacation means having someone house-sit for the sump pumps. 2+ years later, on our second solar contractor, we are finally getting our TESLA batteries installed tomorrow!!

We were lied to, stolen from, put in danger from scam first installer. We won in small claims (will never see $), reported him to every agency in the state we could find, etc. The inspectors agency for trades found 15 code violations after the initial installation. LIVE 220V exposed wires in the basement over Christmas in 2020 where our young nieces were playing. The case has been referred to the local DA, but probably won't be prosecuted because hard to get a conviction on contractor fraud.

LICENSE TO STEAL. THEY CAN'T GET PARTS - ESPECIALLY PANELS AND BATTERIES. NO REGULATION. NO RECOURSE.

Welcome to the Green Nightmare.. Forget the electric car. Solar to power your house will cost at minimum $50K as well..

432 405 Tombstones....

In New Orleans it's not uncommon for multiple people, if they're "poor" or multiple generations if you're "rich" to be buried in the same plot(s).

Shake down the bones...

Seen it. All the crypts are above ground in some cemeteries because even during "normal" times the water table it like 6 inches below the ground.

I have kin buried in Metairie Cemetery.

439 One of my cats just died in my arms about two hours ago (I've been trying to write this for an hour). He had been diagnosed with Lymphoma, and given about 3 months to live, back in August.
I already miss him.
When he was a newborn kitten (over 14 years ago) he was hissy and spitty at me when I first put him on my chest. Tonight that is exactly where he was when he passed on.
In retrospect I think Monday was the tipping point and I should have been more insistent with my vet that maybe it was his time instead of getting an appointment for next week. But the past couple of days we have been inseparable, he was constantly in my lap or laying against my leg. Since last night it was pretty clear that this was goodbye. He didn't seem to be in pain, and he only would get anxious if he was away from me. I think me being at work was the worst for him. Every day for years he would greet me at the door when I would get home, until yesterday evening. But after that he would only fuss or get anxious if I lifted him out of my lap.

We had a chance to say goodbye over the past few days. I don't think I'm wrong to cherish that.

won't happen, because the Dems are in power, and they know that allowing this would discredit them. Never forget that every one of those "riots" was organized and financed by Team Clinton; that's why Mark Elias ended up in charge of BLM's money. That's why they could be turned on and off like someone was flicking a light switch; that's why NO action was ever taken to stop them.

When you have multiple cats there is another thing that happens - you hardly realize it but there are rules about who sits where at what time, who sits on the bed. When one cat dies, the others are free to take over these empty spots. In my house the senior girl is the one who gets to perch on my shoulder if I am lying down in bed. It has been passed down from senior to senor since the 80s. Always the girl except when I didn't have girls. The cats who hang out by the doors 'on guard' changes too - so far always a male.
