From a Moron whose name is David.........Funny video.

Meet The PetMorons

Hey MisHum!

This is Waraiotoko. I wanted to show off our pooch on the pet thread for next weekend, if ya don't mind. Walker is a pittie coonhound mix, plus a bunch of other things that only his mother knows. I leave it to you to edit and curate which pictures of this handsome little goofball you may or may not choose to put into the pet thread. My GF is the photographer. If left up to me, these would all be pictures of half a blurry ear or a lingering fart cloud.

Thanks for all you do at the HQ! - Waraiotoko

Wow, the photos you submitted were great. Really tough to pick just one. But, I did. Such a look on Walker's face. Thank you for your kind words and a wonderful pet thread contribution.

Hi Mis Hum,

Here is a pic of our two cats waiting for their morning treats. The one on the left is 13 year old Kimba. She was found along with a dead kitten beside the railroad tracks. She was pure white when found, hence the name Kimba, the white lion. On the right is Louie. He was found with a litter of abandoned kittens 2 years ago. The little girl that found him told us his name was Louie. We live in old farmhouse out in the boonies. Their job is to keep the unwanted critters away from the house. We love the pet thread.

Thanks, Eskimo

This photo proves they have you trained correctly in the art of snack distribution. Great photo and a wonderful story with a happy ending. Thanks for sharing.

bella.jpg

Good Morning all you Morons!

Behold the year-old Bi-Black Sheltland Sheepdog, Bella.
So beautiful it hurts, so smart it's scary. Who-lotta 20# doggeh.

Her first trick was learning how to play dead in response to my question - "would you rather be dead, or a democrat" ? Yep, she's really smart.

Our 7th rescue Sheltie.

The only salve that soothes the loss of one of these gifts from God, is bringing home a new one. Like Ben Franklin said "beer and dogs are proof God loves us."

Good news is, we'll see 'em all again at the rainbow bridge.
Let's go morons!
Sundog424

My goodness what a big heart you have rescued 7 dogs. Bella certainly is a beautiful dog and looks like she is in a wonderful home. Thank you for your contribution.

Breakfast on Amelia Island.png

Howdy Mis. Hum.

Long time lurker. With St. Patrick's Day around the corner and my hometown of Savannah, GA being the epicenter of celebration, I wanted to include my two Irish Terriers, Rory (ears up) and Gracie (ears down).
Nicknamed the Daredevil, the Irish Terrier was originally the poor man's dog. While Irish land owners had Setters or Wolfhounds, the farmer had the Irish Terrier. They could hunt vermin, act as watchdogs and mixed well with kids and adults alike. During the First World War, the Irish Terrier was used as a courier for messages. Fightin' Irish? The original Notre Dame mascot was the Irish Terrier.
All that aside, these two are thick as thieves. Rory is the drill sergeant and head of security. He loves to play fetch, and is quite the cuddle bug. Gracie is the free spirit nature child, perfectly content to chill out on the back deck and just watch the world. Both are hell on wheels during a squirrel invasion. Thanks for The Pet Thread! It's a great get away from the rigors of the serious world.

Sincerely,
John Juan

Great looking dogs. And thank you so much for sharing a little history about this little seen breed. They sound like fun and loving pets to have in the home. Thanks again!

Lily and Pinky have been on the thread before, but figured I'd send an update - Lily the Sheltie has been trying to lose weight for years but we've been fighting major food allergies resulting in pyoderma, ear infections and swollen paws - because normal Sheltie shedding wasn't enough, the allergies kicked her hair loss into overdrive. We finally identified the allergens and her hair was growing back when her right kneecap decided to blow out this past Saturday - luxating patella. One emergency vet and four regular vet visits later, she's back to her normal weirdo self but just can't walk very far. The cold laser therapy she's getting is really helping and she got a sweet new wagon to boot. She has surgery in a few weeks, and by that time I'll have serious biceps hauling her around the house. Really recommend the laser therapy, I was stunned at how quickly she got back to her normal personality. Anyway, Miss Pinky is pretty apathetic to Lily's condition, as she isn't getting as much attention. Wish us luck, the surgery recovery time is eight weeks...

Thank you and always enjoy the pet thread! Lurker jerake75

Best wishes for a quick and successful recovery. 8 weeks is along time to keep an active pooch down. They look quite content in this photo. Thanks for making the Pet Thread a part of your life.

Daisy paint.png

Hi – for your consideration . . . I read Ace of Spades daily and sometimes comment as Eternity Matters.

This is Daisy, our French Bulldog we had to put down a year ago due to serious health issues. She was my napping buddy through many rounds of chemotherapy. She entertained us all day long and was such a blessing. This is her, along with a picture of some “artwork” she did. My wife had a pan of paint on the floor and Daisy underestimated her long-jumping abilities. Regards,

Aren't napping buddies the best? A true dog lover of course would take photos of the art work and smile about it. So sorry to hear that Daisy is no longer with you. Thank you for your patronage here at the blog.

Jack at two years and 75#, with his 90# brother, Winston, whom we inherited from my niece. The night before, they were at each other’s throats over a chew toy. Gotta love the Doggos. - John

Ah the joys of 2 males in the house at the same time. Good luck with the sibling rivalry in the years to come. They look like they have a rough life at your home. Thanks for sharing.

This is Cori & Flynn. They are great little lap dogs, and love to pile on whenever I'm sitting or laying down, to such a point that I never get to sit in a chair all by myself. This picture of them in front of the fireplace is an extremely rare event. Usually it's the cat who loves to lay in the pet bed and soak up the heat. That night was kismet - I had my phone nearby and they stayed put as I fumbled to get it open and ready for a shot. They are such dear hearts, glad I can share this with you. Thanks, Danabird of Lilburn.

We are certainly happy you were able to take this photo and share with us today. The only thing missing is a bottle of Puppy Bubbley. It looks like the critters have a wonderful home to reside in. Thank you.

The In-box was quite full this week. It looks like everyone has cabin fever and is busy taking photographs. Nothing wrong with that at all. Thank you.

If you have something you wish to submit, videos, pet photos & stories. Feel free to contact us here at petmorons at gmail dot com.

Have a great week!

When I leave for work every day, I always try to give each of my kitties a kiss, and I tell them I love them and that they should have a good day and be good girls. Sometimes they are in hard-to-reach places where I can't give them a kiss, but I still try to give them a petting, at least.

15 Yay Pet Thread! Yay Moron Pets! (Thanks, MH.)

Daughter and SiL are on a mini-vacation to a cabin in the woods. Took their two dogs, and all seem to be enjoying it. Of course, MiladyJo and I and SonM are assigned to take care of their two cats in the meantime. All fun.

SonM decided he needed a dog, so he got a young Huskie. Still needs some training: Son texted yesterday that he lost a sketchbook and a copy of his birth certificate - next best thing to homework, dog says.

New dog got acquainted with old cat Merlin right away... with a claw actually stuck in his snout. Hierarchy having been sorted out, Son has since sent several pix of the two of them, often staring out the window together. Still need a good face-on shot to send in for the pet thread.

Our two old cats, Charlie and Ony, send meows of greeting to the pet horde.

19 I take my cats for walks and when it's time to go back into the house I grab my garage door opener from my sun shade in the car to close the door behind us. My cats also like to stay in the garage and hunt insects and go in and out of my Jeep. I don't know which one of them now has learned to open the garage by hitting the garage door opener on the sun shade. I assume they hit it with their back when they get on the dash. It's never happened before in the previous three years and now it's happened a couple of times so I think they know what they're doing. I have since moved the opener.

46 So we currently have foster greyhound #25 in the house. Now that he has settled in, he has decided to show off a new trick.

When it's time for the dogs to go to bed, they all get treats. The foster has to go in his crate and lay down before he gets one. He has now decided that if he turns his head away from me, he can't see or hear the command being given so he can now just get something for free.

It's OK. Living my life alone, I have no problem with some fur...
My girldog would give her life for me, and she's just a simple rescue.afraid of firearms, unfortunately. She'd still stick up for me.
Give them the love. They will give it back tenfold.
They sure will give to you what you, and I, what we need....
Anyway.....

63 And Kimba and Louie look like they are a good team.

I'm not at all surprised, Anti, that your cats could learn how to hit the garage door opener. The late Tatiana the Wonder Siberian learned very early where I kept her little rubber chase balls and how to pull open that drawer, and how to open a kitchen cabinet to get to the twist ties I didn't want her to play with.

Chekov the Ailing Codger Cat, her nephew, is not in the same IQ class. But he knows when something, like a pill or a pill pocket, is in his food, and how to eat around it and leave the offending object behind.

He's eating pretty well these days.

Most of my cats would vanish if someone strange came to the door. Wolf the black cat got to be brave later in his life and would stay where he was. I was told more than once that a certain superstitious maintenance guy would refuse to come into my place "while that big black cat is there!" The funny thing that he was not mean, or territorial with humans. But a big black longhaired cat is imposing, to say the least.

I can't give up on him if he won't give up on life, can I? He was slated for a "final" vet visit on Friday, and on Tuesday he started eating and moving a little more. (Almost as if he knew.) Maybe when he really stops eating, or appears to be in continual pain, I'll know it's time.

Anyway, they're recommending surgery, it's a primary tumor, hasn't spread. We want to see if PetCure Oncology can do SRT instead, very powerful radiation treatments that don't harm surrounding tissue. Only 1-5 treatments needed, no or minimal side effects. If she's not a candidate for it we'll get the surgery. Hoping to get another 12 months or more of good quality life for her. She's a 10-year-old Berner so she's already cheated death by making it 2-4 years past the average life span.

95 I have an update on the dog that was running on the ranch out here. I finally got her to trust me and I was able to get her to follow me home. She is a young german Shepard mix. She was starving.
Anyway, long story short she was fine with me but she went after my husband and chased one of my workers out of my yard. I realized this was beyond my capabilities.
I contacted the shelter and they told me I had to have animal control take her. She had to be quarantined for 5 days. The lady promised me they don't put animals down anymore.
The animal control lady came and got her and told me she isn't aggressive, she's scared and basically turned feral. They will work with her and get her spayed and adopted to a good family.
I felt terrible and I thought this poor dog is going to think I abandoned her too. The lady told me dogs don't think like that.
I saved her life, she would have died out here.

99 Toby dog is the strong silent type. I'm not sure I'd get a bark alarm if someone slipped into the house. He also loves to greet people and if there is a delivery or anyone else at the door Toby is whining to go out and say hello, he runs up to them with raised hackles but wagging tail and has scared a few folks. However when the weird dude that rang the doorbell in the early morning last year with a BS story "my car broke down could I come in and warm up" I didn't even register Toby, he just stood there, I suppose with hackles up, giving a great impression of a well trained guard dog. When the Sheriff's deputies showed up later after I called 911, then Toby wanted to go out and say hello like normal. So I think he agreed that that bell ringer was off.

117 What's the general consensus here about people who take their pets, typically dogs, shopping? Here there are several "pet friendly" non-pet stores that allow most any animal on a leash inside. The other day there was an incident with two dog owners who lost control of their animals and caused a commotion. More accurately, a dog fight. Neither owner seemed to have a clue... so obviously they're to blame but if you know your animal isn't socialized why would you take it out in public?

To avoid any bloodletting on my end, or the cat spitting out the pill somewhere in the house,
I use Hartz Delectables Lickable Bisque Wet Cat Treats, to put my cats meds in.
They think they're just getting a treat, I get to keep my body intact and the cat doesn't get stressed out by being forced to medicate. I have found it works very well.
I grind the meds up into a powder, if it's in pill form, and mix it in a pouch of this treat.
Liquid meds work too for this. I recommend not putting multiple meds in at once though. They might overpower the camouflage that the treat is providing.
I've used it to mix in antibiotics as well.

I live in the suburbs in CA and they stopped culling the coyote herds years ago so now they are everywhere, even my yard where I have no animals. It's all "we took their land" so live with it.

Is there any kind of air gun or taser that I can use to train them to stay out of my yard?

144 "pittie" cute little name for a savage animal who bites, maims and kills more people and animals than all the other breeds put together, which is why it's banned in many localities. Eventually they will hurt enough people for a nationwide ban and they will all be destroyed. good.

http://tinyurl.com/banpitbulls

Those who argue against the euthanasia policy for pit bull dogs are naive. One dog I know who was adopted out to a new family suddenly clamped his jaw onto the thigh of a 7-year-old boy. Two grown men had a hard time getting the dog off and the child suffered permanent nerve damage.

We can only stop killing pits if we stop creating new ones.

Legislators, please take note.
