The Morning Report - 3/3/22

whoreishannity.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and while Joey Soft-Serve has the intellectual agility of a geoduck with final stage syphilis, I'm beginning to suspect that Sean Hannity must be jealous. While Biden's #1 idiot status can't be topped because of his 50-year record of being spectacularly wrong about every major policy issue and on top of that, dementia that's rapidly dissolving what's left of his cerebral cortex, Hannity for sure stole his thunder with this glittering example of abject retardation:

"It's a simple rule in life. If you invade an innocent country and you kill women and children and men, you forfeit your right to lead a country and you forfeit your right to live. And I hope the people around Vladimir Putin take action sooner than later."

"Now currently the U.S. operates under a decades-old executive order signed by [former President] Gerald Ford that prohibits the U.S. government employees from engaging in political assassinations. But my final question tonight is when it comes to Putin, is it now time to visit the rule? My rule I like better. New rule. You invade a sovereign country, you kill innocent men, women and children, you forfeit your right to run a country and you forfeit your life to live. It's that simple."

Are.
You.
Fucking.
Kidding.
Me?

Where do I even begin? The complete and utter cluelessness and sheer pig ignorance of Sean Hannity is just gobsmackingly radiant. On a national American television network, Hannity calls for the U.S. government to use political assassination as a legitimate foreign policy tool. Forget for a moment that, as the imbecile notes, it was outlawed back in the mid-70s (or more than likely we do engage in this activity clandestinely anyway but that's for another time), Vladimir Putin is not Salvador Allende, Baby Doc Duvalier, Manuel Noriega, Moammar Qaddafi, Saddam Hussein or even Fidel Castro. Vladimir Putin, Sean, is the premier of Russia, aka the former Soviet Union. The Wall was torn down but Russia remains one of our top two geopolitical rivals/enemies and still controls thousands of nuclear weapons from "fun-sized" suitcase nukes to fully MIRVed ICBMs (their battlefield readiness/reliability notwithstanding). It is axiomatic that everything the globalist stooges at Foggy Bottom and the Klain Kalorama Komintern have done that led Putin to invade Ukraine was wrong, and spectacularly so. But the opposite of wrong is not batshit fucking crazy insane.

Look, what Putin thought was going to be a 24-48 hour cakewalk has turned into a messy bloodbath not just in terms of the Ukrainians but the average Russian dogface who is suffering at the hands of motivated and enraged Ukrainians and inept and incompetent generalship at the tactical and strategic level. Now we have reports coming in, their veracity TBD, of Russian soldiers starting to not be all that enthusiastic to die for Putin, as well as Russians protesting against Putin and his invasion as well. Even the Chi-Coms are now openly advising him to cease fire and figure out an exit strategy.

Whatever one thinks about Putin's state of mind and his vaunted shrewdness, he may have played the US and Europe for suckers, but he grossly miscalculated Ukraine's ability to resist and give him a very bloody nose. So far. Can he stanch the "red red kroovy" and find a way out while saving face?

I have no problem -- in fact, I encourage it highly -- with providing Ukraine with all the 7.62 rounds, all the Stinger antiair missiles, and all the Javelin antitank missiles we can possibly get to them.

But crashing the ruble might be nuking a golden bridge too far -- if you'll allow me to tangle metaphors.

Sun Tzu's advice to "Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across" has been bandied about more often in recent days as Putin's Ukraine offensive has bogged down.

Losing an offensive war can make for an existential crisis for the Big Cheese who gave the Go order -- Argentina's Leopoldo Galtieri comes to mind. He took the Falkland Islands from Britain, the Brits took them back, then the police took Galtieri away.

That little adventure didn't threaten Argentina directly; Britain was content with just getting the islands back.

So what do Galtieri and Argentina have to do with Sun Tzu and Putin?

Putin has already overcommitted in Ukraine. He can still win, of course, but the cost will almost certainly prove unacceptably high -- and that's just the military cost.

Vlad has got to be thinking of how to unstick himself from the Ukraine tar baby, but in a way that doesn't end with him getting the Galtieri Treatment.

That's what a "golden bridge" would be -- a somewhat magnanimous Western alliance helping Putin get out of the stinking pile that he, himself, made.

Why should we be so nice?

Because the other realistic options are worse, including Russia's option to use literal battlefield nukes.

As we discussed on the award-winning Cut Jib Newsletter Speaks podcast, it's inconceivable that Putin would drop or set off a nuke anywhere in Ukraine, but that won't necessarily stop him from pounding the country mercilessly with heavy artillery and 1,000 lb blockbusters dropped from Tu-95s. As I see it, he has two options; withdraw, declare victory, for sure retain the Donbas and save face, or define the road to victory as running straight through Kyiv and not stopping until you have Zelensky's severed head on a platter. If he's smart, and I think he is (his misreading of Ukraine notwithstanding), he'll opt for the former.

But now, here comes Biden and his idiot puppet masters crashing the Russian economy or, even worse, Sean Hannity calling for Putin to get whacked by SEAL Team 6, (or MEAL Team 6 with Bearclaw Vindman on point) and what do you think that will do not only to the Russian leadership and worse to Russian public opinion? Suffice it to say, they won't be in the mood for John Kerry and James Taylor stopping by the Bolshoi for a few choruses of "You've Got a Friend."

Stepping back for a moment, none of this is meant to exonerate Vladimir Putin. He's a thug, a murderer and now an aggressor nation killing civilians in the name of conquest in flagrant violation of all international norms. Yet, whatever his legitimate grievances are with us and Europe, or his fever dreams of restoring the Soviet Union and/or a Russian Empire, it is the stupidity of our "best and brightest" from the ivory towers of Johns Hopkins, the Kennedy School, Harvard, Yale and all the rest that got us here and gave him the green light.

Whatever happens, and whatever path Putin chooses, the last thing we should be doing is giving him and the Russian people and military a reason to stand by him, when by all indications, they are less and less thrilled with what he has wrought.

As for Sean Hannity, the manifestly irresponsible call for the American military to assassinate Vladimir Putin should result in his immediate shit-canning from the airwaves. The only saving grace is that the Left's hatred of him and Fox might cause them to have a "Norman! Coordinate!" moment since they too are baying for Putin's blood.

Sean Hannity and everyone who thinks like this has got to go.

25 Sean Hannity speaks for a certain segment of American society - some nominally Republican, some now nominally Democrat. All of them are united around the concept of America continuing to project force around the globe, to run into any and all conflicts.

He also speaks for a certain segment of Republicans - call them not Conservatives, call them whatever you like, nobody has a lock on the definition of Conservative anyway - that can't look at any domestic or international problem and simply leave it alone. They're hammers, looking for nails. In that respect, no different than Liberals - other than what they define as a nail and their particular choice of hammer.

54 To expand upon the "golden bridge" metaphor - you always leave your enemy an avenue for escape (perhaps ideally one that provides you an advantage further down the road) so that given the choice between holding to the last man or running away when overwhelmed, they can choose the latter. Not so much as a humanitarian gesture to them, but to avoid what such a situation will do to your side.

Or, more succinctly: a beaten enemy is far less dangerous to you if allowed to withdraw than he is if he is trapped and has nothing left to lose.

This has sort of been a gentleman's agreement between Heads of State to agree not to kill each other. A country that has nukes, SAMs and special forces has the ability to kill anyone at any time.

Furthermore, what does Sean mean by "innocent country"? It seems a bit of selective conflation. Did the people of Afghanistan deserve to be gunned down and blown up because of the Taliban or Osama bin Laden? So they were not innocent or is 'W' and Obama both legitimate assassination targets?

And has Sean degenerated to the point that he hates due process and all of the civility and humanity that goes along with it because he arbitrarily decides that Putin need to die? What about George Soros? Anthony Fauci? Bill Gates? They all have destroyed economies and killed millions because of their actions.

He's deliberately targeting Russian civilians with his sanctions. Sanctions that will lead thousands to their death.
All without a declaration of war. Not even a shread of legal justification.
He is conducting illegal warfare against innocent civilians-- not the Russian military, not the Russian leadership-- the people.

He is a coward and a war criminal who gets aroused by killing innocent people.

79 Or, more succinctly: a beaten enemy is far less dangerous to you if allowed to withdraw than he is if he is trapped and has nothing left to lose.

But that is where Western "governments" are going - to create within each land a system of Do What We Command or we will push you to where you no longer have nothing to lose.

80 Hannity's position is more than a bit surprising and entirely mad. First, America has been engaged in targeted assassinations - openly and without remorse or disguise - for at least 20 years. We drone-strike enemy commanders with regularity. We not only do this, we do this publicly and loudly for the psychological and propaganda effects on top of killing the bad guy. This is *norm* over the past couple of decades. It's just SOP. To use some contrived debate about a law that's been ignored as a fig leaf for discussing a massive escalation is bonkers.

Not to mention the *reason* for these mental gymnastics. Putin is an asshole and is not a good guy, but Hannity needs to remember that we are not at war with Russia. No treaty ally is at war with Russia. No major trade routes that we depend on are disrupted by the war. We have no rational cause for involvement and not even grasping at straws will get one. Putin's a bastard, but Hannity is suggesting murder without direct US strategic or tactical benefit that will create massive unmanageable risks. I've never been fond of Hannity, but I never considered him stupid. I now reassess that.

I agree. They aren't scared of any consequences. At best, maybe scared their cheating and fraud will take a hit. Until they find a workaround...

The WI story should be an explosive one. One that rattles the bones of America to its very core. But is it even being reported on outside conservative circles? What should be a lead story coast to coast won't even get a passing mention. Thus, most people will never know about it. What I'd like to do is shove the report, flaming at the end of a poker, right down Barr's throat, for one. It's the mother of all scandals. And nobody outside WI will care or even hear about it. And it certainly won't upend the results of the fraudulent election that installed the fraudulent potato in the WH.

95 What I pondered all night, sparked by a piece I read here:
https://tinyurl.com/4fwjfpx5

Contrary to their usual fukwaddery, the Atlantic has a good, thought provoking article up, titled "Russia's Looming Economic Collapse." They report some aspects of the Economic Warfare being waged against Russia currently by the US and Europe, and the wide ranging consequences of this. For example, Russian had $300 Billion in assets in Western Banks, which could have been used to shelter them from a collapse in the ruble, among other things. The West has now simply frozen those assets - they are telling Putin "No, you don't have $300 billion on deposit, you don't have shit until we say you do."

Ukraine and Russia account for 30% of the world's exports of wheat, 19% of corn and 80% of sunflower oil, which is used in food processing. Much of the Russian and Ukrainian bounty goes to poor, unstable countries like Yemen and Libya. If this war goes on, the spreading consequences are going to be huge, and largely unknowable at this point.

With the cost of energy, the cost of fertilizer, the availability of fertilizer, the cost of transport, the disruptions likely from Ukraine and Russia and more, this shaping up to be a bad year for food. Food is pretty important.

But what does "bad year" mean? That will depend on where you are. For us and Western Europe and richer Asian countries, it will be expensive and potentially very expensive. We will get through it because we can afford to. We can outbid everyone else if needed. It will have economic consequences and result in some demand destruction, but we'll be okay. In poor places, though, especially places like Africa and undeveloped Asia and the Middle East, they may well *not* be okay. Production is falling and prices are rising and they'll get outbid.

Over the millennia, when this has happened to poor countries, it generally has caused a lot of them to charge out and try to grab all the food they can from their neighbors. A lot of this went on in the 5th and 6th centuries, for example. Every place it happens causes ripples which travel outward and increase the instability of all other places.

Putin wants a 1945 Germany scenario. Ukraine split to East and West. He gets the big grain farms and secure routes to put it on big ships on the Crimea.

Putin still has China, India, Mexico, Cuba, and Venezuela on his side

The risk is that the drug companies will lose that immunity. The immunity is contractual and fraud voids all contracts. If the drug companies committed fraud in the approvals process, legally it could expose them to liability.

The document dumps will probably demonstrate fraud at every step and by all parties, but it won't matter. Just because that *should* void immunity, I doubt that it will. They can't permit that and it must be avoided at all costs. When I look into my foggy crystal ball, my guess is that the manufacturers will get a record-breaking fine paid to the FDA that will wipe out a big chunk of vax profit and crush the stock price, but will maintain immunity. The FDA will administer small payouts to individuals who suffered harm, but only on an almost impossible standard of evidence. Everyone will line their pockets and no semblance of justice will prevail.

Ethanol is an oxygenizer to raise the octane in gasoline, so substitutes will need to be found. Remember MTBE and lead? Yeah. Not happening.

But gasoline really got its start because in the cracking of crude oil, you can't help but get gasoline out - it was a petroleum waste product. So smart people figured out how to monetize a waste product and now we have fools in policy making positions who hate Chesterton's Fence.

SMUDGE REPORT: Fond memories. In western Colorado, with its frequent springtime cold snaps amid the fruit orchards, as a high school student one of my part time jobs was to be on-call as a smudge pot filler. No. 10 cans of No. 2 fuel oil would be distributed throughout the orchard and ignited when the temperature dropped below a certain cutoff. Sometime in the middle of the night, as the oil levels in the cans dropped, a crew of high school kids would be called in, and using 5-gallon buckets would top up the level of oil in the smudge pots. Come morning, as the air temp reached.a certain level we would be released, go home, scrub the grime off, eat breakfast and head off to school. We probably got paid 2-3 bucks an hour, I can't recall. Could have been on Mike Rowe's Dirtiest Jobs.

292 247 Former Illinois Democrat Speaker Michael Madigan Has Been Indicted

Meh. He's almost 80, he's been stealing for 30+ years, he and his own law firm can drag this shit out for 10 years; he will die a free man. Perhaps a bit poorer.
Oh, and his daughter Lisa was IL AG for 16 years and then landed another gubmint spot, and the rest of his pack of rats are also probably supping at the taxpayer trough. His son for sure.

Oh I agree, that's why this "indictment" just pisses me off. Madigan's corruption has been a running national joke for 20 years, if not 30. So now they waited until he's out of power and all the damage is done; and as you say, he'll die a free man. What a pathetic dog and pony show.

293 Jackasses like Hannity put a spin on the line about the Bourbons: they forget everything, know nothing and learn nothing. He's been frothing at the mouth for another war but his audience has largely opposed it, and he thinks (wrongly) the shift in public opinion has paved his way to cheer on another intervention, which actually would help Putin with his people, but, 'Murica!

Information has surfaced recently that puts Hannity in a very unfavorable light and shows him to be a phony (check out Emerald Robinson's account for details).

During SCOAMF's second administration, my brother and I were visiting our parents and he and I got to talking about my mom's red-pilling. She went from a default middle lib to a middle-right nationalist over the course of several years. I mentioned that I thought it was Obama that did it to her.

She piped up from the kitchen - I didn't even know she had heard me - "It wasn't him! Oh, he hasn't helped any, but it wasn't Obama. It was that G-d damned hockey stick."

I thought it was Obama, but it was the East Anglia fraud that did it. She *really* doesn't like being lied to.

Full disclosure - I'm not a Conservative or even a Republican. This is why. All the while, the left just keeps pulling on one end of the knot.

I'm pretty sure even writing this sentence makes you a ScIeNCe DeNIer!!!! and worthy of un-personing.

But, yes. The thing about COVID is what we knew early on never changed - get fresh air and sunlight, wash your hands thoroughly and frequently. If you feel sick, stay home. A minority (though large in absolute numbers because we're a nation of approx 350 MILLION people) will have severe cases - some of those will die. The people most at risk are the elderly, those with other respiratory diseases, diabetes, who are obese, or a few other conditions - those people should probably stay out of public as much as possible, and here is a cheap, effective way to pre-treat so that if you get it, your case will be mild.

We knew all of that within WEEKS of the first cases in the US. But we had to shut down the entire country for 2 f*cking years because "Orange Man Bad. Send Mean tweets."

345 [He should have dug his heels in then and there, fired Fauci, Birx and anyone who opposed it and pimped vaccines. Period./i]

Fun thing about all of that: When I worked customer service for BCBSTX many moons ago, one of my jobs was to review Pre-Certification Requests (certain therapies or procedures had to have a review to determine they were medically necessary). One of the documents that often got submitted was the results of the 2 year safety study - which counts for dick-all in getting a new therapy approved. The 2 year is (basically) an internal checkpoint so that a drug company or research hospital doesn't spend millions of (more) dollars on something that has no chance of being approved. Those requests NEVER got approved (BCBSTX would not pay for experimental treatements).

We have known for decades that it takes 5 - 10 years to really see what the side effects are of a drug, and most drugs that have been "fast tracked" (that I'm aware of, anyway) have been yanked back off the shelves within just a year or two of release with major safety issues.

I remember some Super NSAID or something like that back in the late 90s early 2000s that had that happen.

357 We have known for decades that it takes 5 - 10 years to really see what the side effects are of a drug, and most drugs that have been "fast tracked" (that I'm aware of, anyway) have been yanked back off the shelves within just a year or two of release with major safety issues.

I remember some Super NSAID or something like that back in the late 90s early 2000s that had that happen.

Its a little more complicated than that, but that's because international trade is more complicated (you have to allow for different legal systems and trade practices) but when the rubber meets the road, SWIFT is a crucial means of getting paid. 436 I'll agree with this - as well as the post about Summer of 1914. But I truly don't think we're heading to war - probably.
I think we're watching the beginning of the end of the global economy. And the beginning of the next Depression.
Posted by: Statistics at March 03, 2022 09:07 AM (mMrkq)

I tend to agree - but the chaotic nature of times like these make specific predictions impossible. I think of these things in a historic perspective; starting with the French Revolution, the entire world became unstable for about 20 years, then a status quo emerged and lasted for about a century. In 1914 that stability broke down, and the world entered 30+ years of chaotic instability before another status quo emerged. Now it looks like the Great Wheel has made another turn, and everything Old is New Again.

439 Terrible accident in Volusia county, FL.

Gonna tell it like it is. For the past several months the traffic on NE Florida interstates has been full-on Mad Max, but without the Dr. Seuss looking home-builts.

I'm just seeing LOTS of people doing things that defy any level of the twisted common sense even your every day run-of-the-mill aggressive driver used to exhibit. And it's not just rush hour. It's all day, everyday. Way worse than anything I ever saw in Atlanta, in a couple of decades there - to be honest. Frankly, it's dangerous as all hell.

And I'm no wall flower. My idea of a good time in my younger years was to mount my K100 and leave Amarillo at 5AM on a Saturday to see how far I could ride it into the Rockies before dark. The quality of the ride was determined by the total number of HOURS spent above 100 mph.

441 I don't recall seeing this in JJ's recent morning posts, but DU is all excited about some kind of Jan 6 committee finding, believing an indictment of Trump is imminent.

Jan 6 committee has determined Trump committed crimes
The Jan. 6 select committee says its evidence has shown that then-President Donald Trump and his campaign tried to illegally obstruct Congress' counting of electoral votes and "engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States."

In a major release of its findings, filed in federal court late Wednesday, the committee suggested its evidence supported findings that Trump himself violated multiple laws by attempting to prevent Congress from certifying his defeat.

And some tweet from @harrylitman
"More on the thunderbolt of the DOJ brief in Eastman. Crime fraud exception applies where client, here Trump, planning crime. Congress urges court to conduct in camera review of evidence that Trump committed obstruction and Consp to Defraud US. The gauntlet has been thrown down."

Normally I'd think it's just Democrat failure theater, but I know the Republicans want to keep Trump out as much as the Dems do, so anything possible

466 Good morning everyone. Thank you J.J.

Saint of the Day:
St. Katharine Drexel (1858-1955) was from a prominent family in Philadelphia. From a young age she felt called to serve the needs of the underprivileged, particularly the African American and Indian communities. She began by donating money, but soon realized this would not bring the lasting change these communities desperately needed. During an audience with Pope Leo XIII she requested that a religious order be sent to manage the institutions she was funding. The Pope suggested that she herself enter the religious life for this purpose. St. Katharine then founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People. From the age of 33 until her death in 1955, Katharine invested her fortune of $20 million in this cause. She helped build the first missions school for Native Americans in Santa Fe, and founded Xavier University in New Orleans. At the time of her death, more than 500 sisters of her order taught in over 60 schools which had been founded throughout the country. Katharine Drexel was canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 2000, making her the second American-born saint. Her feast day is March 3rd.

469 "what Putin thought was going to be a 24-48 hour cakewalk has turned into a messy bloodbath"

How do we know what Putin thought? People do realize this is only the 8th day since the invasion started, right? It took the US three and a half weeks to defeat the weak ass Iraqis. Nowadays everyone wants everything to happen yesterday but its a bit premature to be declaring this a loss for Putin just yet.

Its also disheartening how many people are so easily distracted by the Globalists latest shiny thing. Just last week the focus was on tyranny in Canada, the Covid/vaccine narrative unraveling and the worst inflation in decades and now everyone's talking about Putin being a big meany and a loser because Fake News says so. Its unbelievable how some people are incapable of learning from experience.

Personally I'm rooting for Putin to accomplish what he needs to and landing a major punch to the face of Soros and Schwab and Biden and all the rest of the Globalist scum. If the Globalists, Facebook, Hollywood, the entire media, Mitch McConnell, AOC, Pelosi, Ms. Lindsay and all the rest of the traitorous garbage are for something then I am 100% against it, whatever it is.

The covid lockdowns and 24x7 MSM-social media fear pr0n broke people.

You tell people for two solid years they're going to die (or unintentionally kill another person) if they do something as simple as hug a friend or drop the mask below their nose for a few seconds, would guess that some people, consciously or unconsciously, decide "F it, if I'm gonna die anyway, might as well act on every impulse and go out my way." We have been taught to fear and demonize others around us, so others no longer deserve politeness, etc.. Every man for himself. The long term damage to our society from the past two years is huge..

539 President Joe Biden delivered his first State of the Union address on March 1st. The president's speech was filled with sound bites that could have been taken from focus groups and polls. Biden squandered a primetime opportunity to level with the American people about the abysmal state of the union that his progressive policies have brought about. He could have presented pragmatic proposals to turn things around. Instead, aside from sound bites presumably intended for the ears of Independents and Republicans, Biden praised his failed policies and offered a repackaging of more of the same

During the Ukraine impeachment Schiff made the statement that we use Ukraine to fight Russia over there so we don't have to fight Russia here.

He's insane but he spoke some truth, accidentally. We have been screwing around in Ukraine and bringing them closer to the west while Putin has been saying loudly and repeatedly for years that any movement by NATO to incorporate Ukraine would lead to war.

Crimea was a shot across the bow and nothing really happened under Trump. Biden gets in and things ramp up again and Putin had enough.

It doesn't mean Putin is a good guy or even what he's doing is right it means we knew what the terms were and crossed his red line knowingly. Now the propaganda machine is ratcheting up to make it seem this came out of nowhere and Putin is trying to rebuild the Soviet Union.

583 In reference to the article If Biden's So Tough, Why Did He Bend Over for Putin?, it is correct that the left will kill us all than changing course for the good of the country. Castro's (in Cuba) used to say: 'first, we sink the island in the ocean, than to consent to be slaves' the meaning was that he will kill every man, woman, or child, before he agreed to change any policy that might improve the country and the lives of the citizens. That is why I escaped. Socialism/communism is a one way to disaster, and very hard to get out of. Biden, and the deranged demonrats will let criminals to kill/pillage before ever thinking that they are wrong (defund the police) they will let people die before implementing therapies for covid, and the list goes on and on. They think they are righteous, so your life does not matter for the 'greater good' they want. As Breitbart said, fuck you! war!

584 With all the bragging Sean does on his martial arts skillz, and his sharpshooting skillz, you`d think he would volunteer himself to do the dirty deed. Those who can, do, those who can`t, grift. Without his Fox paycheck, he`s nothing.

585 "Forget for a moment that, as the imbecile notes, it was outlawed back in the mid-70s"

No, it wasn't. Presidents cannot make law - only Congress can do that. Presidents can order members of the military and of the Executive department to do or not do certain things, but that's not law. If it was law, the President could not single-handedly reverse it.

586 "Look, what Putin thought was going to be a 24-48 hour cakewalk has turned into a messy bloodbath..."

Not true, absurdly so. This is the most efficient military operation of the last 50 years, perhaps of all time. All indications are it is moving in the exact timeframe the Russians figured it would. The Russians are moving at least twice as fast as America in Iraq and 10 times as fast as America in Kuwait.

If there is any bloodbath, it's on the hands of NATO egging on Ukrainians to act like human shields, at the behest of our greatest ally Hebrew friends. The Russians are going out of their way to avoid civilian casualties and provide humanitarian aid.

The Right has lost the plot on all this, in large ways (Hannity) and small (this ridiculous statement).

587 So much better to see millions die rather than kill the author of senseless aggression. Who's the retard?
