Good morning, kids. Wednesday and after enduring last night's torture session masquerading as a State of the Union address, when you look at the real state of not just the nation (there is no "union" to speak of in any way, shape or form) and the world in general, I've come to the conclusion that America is Wile E. Coyote falling off of a cliff, clutching a Sino-Soviet bundle of dynamite as a 10-ton (soon to be kiloton if you catch my meaning) Iranian boulder matches our 32 feet per second, mere inches above the moth-eaten National Review subscription premium mini-umbrella that we have deployed as a shield. Yeah, no worries. Everything's going to be just fine. Gulp.

Watching, or more accurately, suffering through that filthy criminal pervert's performance, I cannot even imagine the levels of delusion that a true believer Kommie Karen - let alone the average person of any political persuasion - would have to contort themselves into to believe that a) Joe Towelette Biden is the virile, intelligent, refined, erudite statesman that 81 million votes (cast mostly by a few dozen people) "elected" president, b) that none of the disasters, abominations and destruction we are enduring here and witnessing abroad are his and/or his junta's fault, c) that, to the contrary, everything is going hunky dory just like Peppermint Piss-Hockey says, and that d) just in case it isn't we must rack up another $30 trillion in debt to destroy the dollar, chemically castrate your sons, import millions of illiterate Latin American peasants and Afghanistani Religion of Peaceniks, abolish the petrochemical industry, and atone for slavery by paying off people who ironically remain forever enslaved to the very party and ideology that has committed actual genocide against them since forever. Oh, I almost forgot: Cure cancer. Again. Well hell, he did cure the General Tso's Sickness, didn't he?

Of course, all of that assumes you could even understand the garbled words and mispronunciations from a tongue so completely gnarled and twisted by nearly 80 years of non-stop lying with 10 or more of those years compounded by dementia-driven oral tardive dyskenisia. If this weren't so utterly tragic beyond my capacity to describe it, I'd be rolling on the floor laughing my ass off. Daniel Greenfield comes close.

A confused political hack from Delaware staged a one-man insurrection by invading the sacred precincts of the Capitol building, hijacking all the TV networks, and yelling that the planet would be destroyed unless we gave him all our money so he could burn it and turn it into green energy.
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr, who loves the sound of his voice more than his crackhead son or the bastard grandchild of a stripper, had already inflicted the second longest opening address in the history of this nation with a 2021 marathon address that killed more brain cells than meth. . .
. . . With the price of gas, homes, and groceries out of the reach of most Americans, Biden began by taking credit for doing nothing to stop Putin from invading Ukraine. And then vowed that he, along with a coalition of "freedom loving nations" would fight Putin until the last Ukrainian.
Or until their social media people run out of hashtags.
Biden, who confused the Iranians and the Ukranians, spent more time bragging about plans to seize the yachts of Russian oligarchs than Truman spent declaring victory after WWII.
Putin "may make gains on the battlefield," Biden argued, but "he will pay a continuing high price over the long run". Sure. Vlad may take Ukraine, but Biden will take his yacht. During his unhinged tirade, Biden revealed a plan to end women's sports in America, but failed to name one thing that would actually stop Putin. . .
. . . Biden then wrapped up the extended torture session that would have broken any of the Al Qaeda terrorists he recently freed from Gitmo by calling for open borders, illegal alien amnesty, abortion, and conducting gender experiments on young children. Then he closed by invoking God. At least unlike at the presidential debates, he didn't invoke Allah.
At this point, not even Allah wants to be associated with the Biden administration.
Squinting in defiant confusion, Biden angrily concluded by shouting, "Go get him."
The dozens of people watching were left to wonder whether he was talking to the voices in his head, an imaginary leprechaun, or his handlers in Beijing.

Speaking of bipedal grand mal seizures, what the hell was Malig-Nancy Pelosi doing up there; the Frug?! BLM may be nothing but a bunch of terrorist thugs, but the Venn diagram of me and them intersect at one tiny spot: Get rid of all the old white people in DC.

And what Ron Klain couldn't lie about, he completely ignored.

Joe Biden was so desperate for a 9/11 anniversary photo op that he set an arbitrary date for withdrawing from Afghanistan, without any conditions for the Taliban, causing a disastrous evacuation that resulted thousands of Americans left behind and 13 U.S. service members dead.
Yet, not a single word about the withdrawal. Not a single word to honor those who died because of his incompetence. . .
. . . He did, however, mention his late son Beau Biden… because that's what he does. He did so more than once after his botched withdrawal last year. In fact, the family of fallen Marine Rylee McCollum, who was killed at Kabul airport, said that when they met with Biden "he kept checking his watch and bringing up Beau. . . "

Biden's failure to honor these heroes is inexcusable.

Joe Biden's entire miserable, criminal, perverted adult life is inexcusable. But at least one person in the audience was not going to let him get away with it.

As Biden described veterans exposed to burn pits developing "cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin," [Rep. Lauren] Boebert yelled out: "You put them in, 13 of them," sparking boos from the Democrats in the chamber. Boebert is referring to the 13 U.S. service members who were killed in a terror attack at the Kabul airport as Americans were left stranded throughout the country in August 2021.
"Headaches, numbness, dizziness, a cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin, I know," Biden said.
Boebert then shouted: "13 of them!"

Good for her. It's funny how the Left and their remora in the cuckservative class have the vapors when it comes to civility and "our precious norms." And yet when hate shakes are hurled and GOP congressmen are gunned down by a Bernie Bro at a softball field you get either crickets or blaming the rape victim for wearing provocative clothing. Yeah, I'm done with civility. "Fuck you, war!" as Andrew Breitbart of blessed memory - who left us way too young when we need him most exactly 10 years ago - would say.

About the only positive sign from last night's shitshow was the rebuttal speech. No, not from the GOP but an actual intraparty rebuttal speech from the far left wing of the Democrats, delivered by coelacanth-faced Jew-hater Rancida Taliban, aka Rashida Tlaib from the emirate of Dearbornistan. I'm not going to quote her but suffice it to say that she basically was damning Biden with faint praise by claiming the failure of Bernardo Sandersnista's insane multi-trillion dollar Build Bolshevism Biggerer disasters to pass was the fault of "greedy corporatist elements" in the Democrat Party (I guess that means "JOOZ!") as well as the GOP. It's a thinly veiled warning shot across Biden's handlers' bow.

The killer diller was the so-called "Squad" sitting on their hands as the Dems did the seal clapping when Biden announced more funding for the police. Funny because for the past two years they were loudly running on the opposite platform much to the revulsion of average Americans who watched in horror as terrorists torched and looted scores of American businesses. Cori Bush, a BLM thug apologist was pointing at her shirt and yelling something at Biden in response. It sounded like, "Yo cracka! I got this shirt at a Kenosha fire sale!"

It's good that the Democrat Party is at each other's throat but it's cold comfort considering the GOP is utterly useless at best, and colluding with the globalists at worst. Even if we won every seat in every district with candidates to the right of Donald Trump, the bureaucracy and the judiciary will be there to sabotage us at every turn. And more and more of the former private sector will be there to punish us for getting out of line.

Probably. I don't distinctively remember it, but he confuses consonants constantly. I think it's part of his mental degradation. Overall, he did well by Biden standards - he was upright, he wasn't slurring too much (a couple of little incidents where he fell off the track and had to climb back on), etc. - but they can't completely hide the problem and it shows up in the consonants.

I'm not going to quote her but suffice it to say that she basically was damning Biden with faint praise by claiming the failure of Bernardo Sandersnista's insane multi-trillion dollar Build Bolshevism Biggerer disasters to pass was the fault of "greedy corporatist elements" in the Democrat Party (I guess that means "JOOZ!") as well as the GOP. It's a thinly veiled warning shot across Biden's handlers' bow.

So they *did* attack him from the Left in the rebuttals. I figured that when I saw the rumored cast list, but I am still somewhat surprised that it actually happened. This is probably a move to try to placate the radical part of the base - something like, "we haven't gotten you all the commie stuff you want, but we're holding his feet to the fire!"

Intraparty factional war is usually a sign that the Party is in complete control and there are no external enemies, so they are comfortable and confident enough with the overall position to take care of family business. I am a cynic and pessimist, but I view the very public brawling within the Party as a sign that isn't all that great. If they're airing the dirty laundry and attacking each other like this, they're confident that there is no extraparty pressure to deal with it, and no risks to do doing what they're doing.

110 The thing that struck me most about the SOTU was the messaging track. It was an obvious attempt to dart back toward the middle (not very far toward the middle, but off the hard left edge) and the way they chose to do it was by plagiarizing Trump. He hit a lot of Trump's typical beats:
- Domestic industry revitalization
- Need for a secure border
- Anti-competitive behavior of the big corporates
- Strong America
- China skepticism

It was all a pack of bald-faced lies and the old bastard and his handlers have a 50+ year history of meaning precisely none of it, but he mouthed the words and they sounded vaguely familiar. It was actually surprising. In parts of that speech, he was pushing a watered-down, derivative, blatantly stolen and utterly unconvincing faux MAGA message.

It was the rallying cry, the call to action. This is unusual for a president to do at the SOTU unless that president was Trump. This is another example of lifting some techniques from Trump.

In Trump's case, he would end with his call to action: "Make America Great Again," along the lines of a campaign speech. I remember him taking a lot of heat for that in the thinkpieces that followed. But Biden did the same thing. There was a campaign-style crescendo at the end, followed by a call to action. But he can't use the Dread Trump's call to action, so he went with a generic "Go Git 'Em" - as in "let's roll" or "give 'em hell" and the like.

A plagiarized approach, denuded of all legitimacy, honesty and meaning and with key phrases replaced with worn old platitudes. There is perhaps no better metaphor for the entire United States government.

Is Putin bad? Probably.

He's not going to let a potentially hostile power sit on his door step. Does he want to restore Russia as an imperialist power? Probably. But even without that, he's going to at least insist that his neighbors maintain strict neutrality between Russia and NATO.

This is what I hate so much about the dumbing down of American politics. The world is a complicated place with a complicated history but we are told we must view ever world event through a black and white lens.

it's notable that in the Democrat Primary race, which Beto won, his 4 opponents were all complete unknowns who were running mainly for the thrill of seeing their names on a ballot, for a short while. I looked through their resumes, and the highest position any of them had ever held as "former policy advisor to the public utility commission". The Texas Democrat Party literally has *nobody* serious who will run for a major office; which is why a self-funded candidate like Beto can walk in and easily grab their nomination. No one else wants it.

Anyone who voted in the Republican primary yesterday probably noted that "Rick Perry" was on the ballot, for Governor. This was not THE "Rick Perry", but a different Rick Perry who's campaign was based on seeing how many votes he could get by having a familiar name, and nothing else. (He got 3%)

First, Cuellar will probably win the runoff. (Better organization) BUT if Cuellar loses, there's a very good chance that his mostly conservative dem supporters could switch and support the Republican candidate (also heading to a runoff) rather than vote for the Prog.

How is it possible for these people, who presumably are in fact real people and not part of the simulation, to embrace group think so wholeheartedly that they don't even seem to notice how much and how quickly their direction has changed?

Maybe personal experience has a lot to do with it. I'm very accustomed to having extremely different opinions from the people around me, so if I found myself surrounded by people who agree with me, my first reaction would be pleased surprise, followed almost immediately by suspicion. Perhaps someone who is used to being part of the majority simply takes for granted that they're in the majority once again.

As you mention, Bad Cat's essay on the Rise of the Agitariat answered those questions very well. For a lot of people, it feels very good to do that, and it removes the difficulty of personal responsibility from their lives.

I am not certain that US party history is directly applicable at this point. We are not a republic anymore and the interparty divide has never been smaller (e.g., the Uniparty). I am deferring to the typical behavior of post-revolutionary intraparty conflict when the winning group descends into factional warfare for a bit.

423 My dental hygienist and dentist have been mentally affected by the covid stuff.

Mask required to enter the building and must stay on before any work is done. Must rinse with a hydrogen peroxide swish (gross) before they will look in your mouth. Will not do ultrasonic cleaning (aerosols!!), will not do polishing (aerosols!!). Must put mask back on immediately after cleaning is done. Must leave out the back door so as not to run in to anyone else in the building on my way out.

All this for a cleaning, including them in head-to-toe protective gear, face mask, face shield, and safety goggles.

Last year when I had actual work done, the dentist wore a half face filtering respirator with organic cartridges.

Oh, and I have to wear safety goggles the entire time, too.
