The Morning Report - 3/1/22

lookfatchikkiev.jpg

Good morning, kids. March. Already? Putin evidently is ramping up his assault on Kyiv with a reportedly 40-mile long armored column driving on the city even as we speak. I thought Zelensky would've been crying "uncle" after the first 48 hours but we're now six days into this thing and the Russians have yet to deliver a knockout blow. In fact, by some accounts the spearhead got the shit kicked out of it causing his main force to be bogged down. Plus, the average Ukrainian is incensed while the average Russian soldier seems none too thrilled to have to be taking this trip. And their are protests in Russia itself which no doubt will have Putin calling Justin Castreau-cescu for some RCMP lend-lease action.

Of course, all of that is anecdotal and while Putin no doubt could give a damn about world opinion, the Chi-Coms have suddenly backed away from their pre-invasion unqualified support for Vlad the Invader to going more than a tad wobbly as this thing drags on. And China is both his biggest ally as well as a rival. Could be they're concerned about hurting their carefully cultivated (i.e. bribed western media) propaganda image in the world, or they're looking ahead to Taiwan, or a bit of both. Militarily, the Russian army is nowhere near the seeming effectiveness (on paper) of the PLA, and the same for sure can be said of Ukraine compared to Taiwan. I hope to G-d we never have to witness a Chi-Com invasion of Taiwan but considering not only the absolute incompetence of the current Klain Kalorama Komintern and the perpetual cancer that is Foggy Bottom, with just under three years until we have a chance at restoring some sanity to our leadership, that may be whistling past the graveyard. And yet, the longer Ukraine can hold out, perhaps the more that Xi and company might need to rejigger (is that racist?) their thinking.

I hate to say it but perhaps it might have been better had Ukraine surrendered by now. Whether or not Putin is, as some reports claim, unhinged, because he has been denied what he thought was a swift victory and instead got a bloody nose, the rhetoric coming from his government is cause for alarm. Putin in fact put his nuclear forces on full alert. To do something like that means you're either crazy or desperate. While I don't think he'd nuke Kyiv, he might very well flatten much of it with conventional artillery or air bombardment. All because he completely misread or dismissed Ukrainian resistance as well as the competence/preparedness of his own forces.

Not to be overlooked in all of this is the stupidity and fecklessness of previous American presidents, specifically Democrats, that got us into this mess in the first place. Idiocy #1: Bill Clinton got a reluctant Ukraine to surrender the nukes it had post the Soviet collapse in return for our guaranteeing their territorial integrity. Idiocy #2: the expansion of NATO eastward towards the Russian border, something that Putin viewed as a threat to Russian security. Idiocy #3: With absolutely zero deterrent, Putin annexed Crimea in 2014 and in response Obama issued a sternly worded letter to the Times. Meh, not that I wanted war declared with Russia, but that leads us to Idiocy #4: Biden's handlers taking a wrecking ball to our fossil fuel industry.

Lord Monckton of Brenchley is one of the most engaging, knowledgeable and effective de-bunkers of the "anthropogenic global warming"/"climate change" myth out there. And here, he nails it:

Putin has not only succeeded in crippling the Western economies with the global-warming nonsense: he now profiteers directly from our scientifically-illiterate politicians' economically and strategically half-witted decision to interfere in the energy market by force and remove coal from the energy mix, reducing competition, hiking power prices and rendering Europe and – to a striking degree – the United States dependent upon a hostile foreign power for the preponderance of its energy supply, the lifeblood of its industries. Aluminum smelting, steelmaking, heavy manufacturing and many other energy-intensive enterprises have been driven out to Russia, India and China, which have all repudiated attempts by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to shutter their economies as the West has so eagerly done under the Paris climate accords. . .

. . . Had it not been for the West's capitulation to Communist propagandists paid by Russia and China to peddle the official global warming narrative and profiteering by the ineffable strategic immaturity, scientific illiteracy and economic innumeracy of our current generation of politicians, trembling in fear of being unpersoned, the West would never have given Putin the means to rebuild his forces. But it is we who elect the politicians. Irresponsibly, we chose a close-to-Communist administration led by a fumbling geriatric in the United States and an etiolated, clapped-out, effete, no-longer-Conservative administration led by a notorious and all-too-exploitable sexual incontinent in Britain. . .

. . . The gallant president of Ukraine and the army of brave citizens now fighting not only for their nation's right to determine its own destiny but also for their very lives have us, the voters of the West, to thank for their existential predicament. After decades of imprudent self-disarmament aggravated by the global-warming stupidity by which we have long been funding the militaristic expansions both of Putin and of Xi, we are scarcely less at fault for the plight of Ukraine than is Vlad the Invader himself.

It's a long essay, which goes into a fascinating history of disinformatsiya and propaganda, but it is absolutely a must-read and worthy of bookmarking IMHO. But the salient point is that the globalists as well as the brainwashed Ivy League idiots in government, media and frighteningly more and more in the c-suite including companies like Exxon-Mobil and Shell, have made us prostrate before the world's bad actors. In stark contrast to the idiocies of the most recent Democrat presidents as well as most pointedly the current so-called quote-unquote "president," Donald Trump did the exact opposite. For the first time in our history, America was a net petroleum exporter and, thanks to fracking, our oil reserves were and are estimated to be arguably the largest in the world.

Look what Donald Trump was able to achieve by unleashing the potential of our oil, not just in terms of our economy but the ripple effect the size of a tsunami on our foreign policy. Coupled with finally drawing attention to the ass-raping China had been inflicting on us with the help of the Chamber of Commerce in the offshoring of our heavy industry, telling OPEC to pound desert sand also led to the Abraham Accords that are paying strategic dividends not just for Israel, but for us in creating a bulwark against Iran. That's despite the desperation of Biden to give them nukes. As if to underscore how, despite the very real pain and suffering in Ukraine and in Russia of ordinary people, that this whole thing is a wag the dog escapade on Biden's part, we have this little nugget:

Even as Moscow invades Ukraine, the Biden [junta] is relying on Russia to solidify a revamped nuclear agreement with Iran, a deal that senior Republican foreign policy leaders say will be approved in the coming days without any input from Congress.

As Russian forces press further into Ukraine, threatening to spark a world war, the Biden [junta] is rushing to finalize a Russia-brokered nuclear deal with Iran, Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), the lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Washington Free Beacon. . .

. . . While [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden has vowed to break relations with Russia as a result of its Ukraine invasion, the reliance on Moscow in Iran talks signals that these promises will not be enforced.

"It's obvious that Russia should no longer serve as one of the key intermediaries brokering an Iran deal," said one senior congressional official who works on foreign policy matters. "We need to be isolating Russia not just economically, but also diplomatically. There is absolutely no chance that Russia has U.S. national security interests in mind when it comes to Iran's nuclear program. . . "

. . . The Biden [junta] earlier this month also preemptively waived some sanctions on Iran as part of its bid to generate good will in the talks. These sanction waivers allow countries like Russia and China to legally build out portions of Iran's civilian nuclear program.

Still, Iranian diplomats want more. "Negotiations are not over yet, and the United States has to make tough political decisions that it has not yet made," Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was quoted as saying Monday in the country's state-controlled press.

Brilliant move, Ron Klain. All this tough talk about Putin this and that while relying on him to give you a "victory" with a piece of paper that gives the green light for Iran to build nukes. You do realize that you have to let him conquer Ukraine for that "victory," no? Best and brightest my ass. Seriously, it's not even egg-headed ideology. As Sonny yelled at Michael "we sent you away to college to get stupid?!" And that is exactly who they are. In fact the more prestigious the Ivy League campus the more clueless - and arrogant - they are. But I digress.

We will not be allowed to tap our almost boundless wealth because of the titanic lies of the luddite environmentalists. And as Lord Monckton points out, the masses of bleeding heart ignoramuses who believe this bullshit had their minds poisoned by actual Communist propaganda meant to destroy our economy. Remember, Earth Day falling on Vlad Lenin's birthday is not a fluke.

Oh, and the State of the Union address is tonight. What a joke, but no one's laughing.

Over and over, it turns out that the fundamental premise of the creepy race mongers is actually white supremacy.

By the way, American politicians, political scientists and journalists themselves write and talk about the fact that a real 'empire of lies' has been created inside the United States in recent years. It's hard to disagree with that; it's true. But do not be modest: the United States is still a great country, a system-forming power. All her satellites not only resignedly and dutifully assent, sing along to her for any reason, but also copy her behaviour, enthusiastically accept the rules he proposes. Therefore, with good reason, we can confidently say that the entire so-called Western bloc, formed by the United States in its own image and likeness, all of it is the very 'empire of lies'.

I'm mad because liberals, led by the practically petrified puppet in the White House, are destroying the country I love. Because they put politics above compassion in the COVID-19 public health fiasco. Because they badly damaged the most vulnerable among us, ruining kids' educational progress with closed schools and remote (not) learning, and bruising kids' psyches with useless and oppressive masking. Because they shut down our energy independence and torpedoed our economy, making the rich richer, the poor poorer, and causing my hard-earned nest egg to shrink. Because a deeply corrupt FBI, CIA, and mainstream media -- surely the envy of Greece -- took down a highly competent and effective president with the help of electoral shenanigans. Because, under Democrat leadership, our country has been reduced to an effete bystander worried about white rage and gender pronouns, while war breaks out in Europe.

The thing that's got me doing mental rounds is that the IC/MIC actually were actually spot on in calling that Putin was going to invade, and pretty much nailed the date, the IC/MIC haven't gotten a single thing right in 50 years.

Sure they had satellite imagery of a massive build up along the Ukraine boarder but still, they always have gotten things wrong.

So, there's that.

I actually watched some MSM news last night to try and get some accurate info on what is happening in Ukraine. I still don't know but there are many civilians suffering is seems. This was followed by a long panic report on climate change and new UN study telling us we now have less that 10 years to utter disaster. It was accompanied by many scary videos of wildfires, which apparently never happened until the past few decades. Finally had to turn it off as I felt my brain turning to mush.

Did you read the last part of Putin's speech? Yikes.

I don't think there is a huge distinction between good and bad guys in the two governments, Ukraine or Russia. I am sure though that we are governed by bad guys, animatronic puppets and kooks, and Putin is directly threatening the United States in his speech to intimidate Americans. So, while the war politicians are all bad (probably), Putin is quite clearly the worst.

Habit.

A lot of older people, like myself grew up with ABC, CBS and NBC as the only sources for news. Later, when cable news came along, specifically CNN and the first Gulf War people started to consume news 24X7. In my opinion the news reporting (such that it is) has always tilted left. It's just that the hose is so much bigger now and the leftist tilt has been turned to 11.

Plus, the Narrative(tm) being pushed by the left needs 24X7X365 play so the sheeple don't wander off the reservation. Thus the rise of social media as "news providers" of particularly leftist shit.

However, Putin got sucker punched by Obama's (what --you think Retard is in charge?) CIA and, very regrettably, Putin punched back....in Ukraine.

The Green New Deal never looked so needed as now(cosmic sarc).
It's ALL about destroying the current American energy sector and transitioning to more grift/graft worthy 'renewables'(Solyndra anyone?)?
There is NOTHING the ruling elite wont do to suck up the graft gold or crypto or the prevailing reserve currency as they create the false crisis (Ukraine today, Taiwan or where ever tomorrow ) needed to line their pockets.

151 It might just be time for the West to stop helping so much. We've done enough damage.

We have a strange brew here, and it's hard for me to make sense of it.

On the one hand, if we claim to be a People "Under God," a Just and Moral people (and, generally, we do here in the US), then we can't just ignore stuff like this. On the other hand, we can't be the world's policeman/body guard, and even when we try we often screw things up worse than they were.

It's a sticky kind of thing.

That said, I'll point back to my earlier comment about the Left and their lack of consistent morals and ethics. Perhaps if we fixed that first, we might be able to do better at knowing when and how to intervene.

156 It's not "Lord Firstname Lastname Title". It's "Firstname Lastname, Lord Title". E.g., William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, or in this case, Christopher Monckton, Lord Brenchley (or Viscount Brenchley). The only people with the title in front of their personal name are knights and baronets. Knights are Sir Firstname Lastname. Baronets are Sir Firstname. Knighthood cannot be inherited; a baronetcy can.

(There are also cases where the daughter of a peer is called Lady Firstname Lastname. She's Lady Firstname while unmarried. If she marries "down" (someone without a title), she still gets to be Lady Firstname Newlastname because she's Lady in her own right.)

160 Look what Donald Trump was able to achieve by unleashing the potential of our oil, not just in terms of our economy but the ripple effect the size of a tsunami on our foreign policy.
++++
Long ago, gold drove foreign policy. Today, it's energy whatever its source and oil is the major force applicable everywhere. Atomic is a different game and a smaller club, so it's oil that is most important. Under Trump's pro-energy policy, we had leverage. Under non-Trump's anti-energy policy (not a partisan issue, if you'll recall George W. "Addicted to Oil" Bush - yeah, like how we're addicted to *food* you whinging fool), we don't.

No, I don't think you're wrong. That has been one of the most evil things about this whole COVID fiasco.

COVID is just a disease, and one that's not terribly threatening to the VAST majority of the population. There was never a good reason to prevent friends and family from visiting those who are ill.

But that's how it is with everything COVID. COVID didn't shut down businesses and schools - government did. COVID didn't cancel events and place people's lives on hold for two years, government did. COVID didn't prevent you from seeing your mother or father in the hospital, government - aided and abetted by doctors - did.

Doctors used to be some of the most independent people in the world. In the old days, they owned their own practices, weren't in debt, and generally were doing well. They weren't beholden to anybody.

Now, they are corporate drones up to their eyeballs in debt, and totally owned by corporate masters. They simply check boxes on protocols provided by their money changer masters.

There is a metric butt ton of AAA and anti aircraft missile platforms traveling with that convoy. Russia embeds AA assets into every single unit in their Army to an extent not seen in any other military in the World. It would be suicide for aircraft to get anywhere near that convoy. Sure a couple of bombs or missiles will get through, but you are gonna lose most of your air assets doing that.

Yup.

If they have any more rockets or heavy artillery left and within range, then that target might be possible.

I like Don Huffines. He's got some strong conservative bona fides, and he's been out of politics for a while so it really feels like he's doing this because he's passionate about it - not because it's a path to a paycheck or the limelight.

And I'm not worried about multiple primary candidates. All they (collectively) have to do is keep Abbot from getting more than 50% of the primary vote. If they do, then it will go to a run-off between him and the next candidate. If there were only one running, it's more likely that Abbot would have been able to pull a Rick Perry (though Rick Perry, he ain't) and get everyone who wasn't a hard core supporter of [whomever] to vote for "the known quantity."

By my very vague and inadequate knowledge of Russian military doctrine, that is because of us. Russia has to move a lot of stuff a long distance, and we dominate the skies and, as we have demonstrated many times, we can maintain an air war to a degree that no other country can. They embed lots of AA into their columns because they have to play defense against the USAF and depend on putting up a dome of defense around their major movements.

I'm not sure if that's right, though, so hopefully some of the people who actually know shit here can correct me if that's wrong!

Yep. But, so far, it's only being partially successful. It's why they're focusing so strongly on removing the moral and ethical underpinnings of society, too.

Your society is okay (actually, probably very healthy) if you distrust groups - especially groups that have authority - so long as you maintain trust at the interpersonal level. As I said, I don't trust "Doctors" but there are doctors I trust. I don't trust "the Cops" but their are police officers I trust.

That's the one thing that gives me a little hope - I'm seeing more and more people disillusioned by these groups in authority, and they're returning to their personal relationships.

I don't think a lot of analysis has gone into what Russia actually wants. The narrative we've been sold is that Putin has lost his mind and the Russian army has deteriorated so far they can barely move on Ukraine.

It might be that Putin doesn't want to level Ukraine and instead wants to force them to surrender and negotiate and return to the fold and is running a strategy along those lines.

I wonder what the combat zone disciplinary measures are in today's Russian army in Ukraine operations? Summary execution, ordered by officers down to ? level, for cowardice or failure to follow orders? Unlike the Soviet era, today there are no unit political Kommissars, and no NKVD troops following behind the combat units, to summarily deal with retreating and non-attacking soldiers and officers, right? Right?

I suppose the threat of life imprisonment in camps or prisons in Siberia might encourage a lot of young soldiers to attack when ordered. But will they press-on due to that threat when the going gets very tough?

Except that isn't how low-trust societies work when it's the norm. The vision is places like Greece and Italy, but those are reasonably modern countries that are part of overall larger structures that are *not* entirely low-trust. The problem is contained and it results in fairly little murder and mayhem.

What they'll get when they scale it up will be more akin to Latin America. When low-trust is the norm and there are no moderating forces, shit falls to pieces in fairly significant ways. It isn't just cheating and bribery and corruption, it's also the need to live in a fortress and have private soldiers to keep your kids and wife from being plucked off the street and ransomed. When low-trust goes big, you need a literal castle and a literal army to protect you - and most of the Resetters can't afford that. A few can, as a few always can, but most are in for a rude awakening.

They spied on Trump, later stole an election, plundered the treasury, and delivered a Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique to the former United State's power grid

and no one goes to jail

The longer it goes on, and the bloodier it gets for both sides, the worse he comes out looking. And China now wavering was not in the cards.

331
Dr. Strangelove has an interesting history. The Kennedy assasination forced some deleted scenes.

Believe it or not, the movie was going to end with a massive 3-stooges pie fight in the War Room. Pres. Merkin Muffley was to lose his mind in the middle of the pie fight, started by the Russian Ambassador.

Muffly gets hit in the face with pie by the Russian amassador, prompting Turgidson to exclaim, "Our president has been struck down in his prime, massive retaliation now!" That results in a pie fight free for all.

That was cut due to the Kennedy assassination. While all that as going on, Dr. Stranglove gets in a life and death struggle with his alien hand. The alien hand pulls a pistol and tried to blow his brains out. Dr. Stranglove fights his alien hand for control of the gun, and that results in a shot being fired up in the air.

That stops the pie fight, the president is a basket case, and everyone thinks Dr. Strangelove has heroically taken control. It ends with a brave new mineshaft future being led by Dr. Strangelove.

Exchange the word "Russia" with "the ruling class of the former United States" and "Putin" with "Biden".

Yeah, "Finlandization" is a stated goal, but that may change depending on the vagaries of war into direct administration or a Russia-aligned puppet. But any of those requires you to try to *not* alienate the entire population. They did that last time to such a degree that the Ukrainians - Slavs with no great love for the West - actively assisted Hitler against the Russians.

It seems a lot of what's driving this is prior to the war western analysts were saying Russia would roll over Ukraine in a few days. Which I didn't agree with on account of Ukraine having been in low level conflict for ~8 years. Granted that doesn't mean they "win", but they weren't the hollow shell the US created afghan army was.

New World Order is US/west. HW Bush pushed for it. Global peace, multi-lateral organizations like the UN, EU, etc.

Mostly everyone is playing along until the US collapses. The EU is mostly about France or Germany trying to integrate much of Europe. Global elites hob nob at events but aren't all really on the same side. US elites are delusional, European elites resent the US, Chinese elites mean for China to be the new superpower.

"While Americans decry what is happening in Ukraine, the United States continues to allow the import of more than half a million barrels per day of crude oil and other petroleum products from Russia during this time of war."

Continued reliance on Russian oil, according to Mr. Manchin, poses a "clear and present danger to our nation's energy security."

Instead, the senator urged the White House to incentive domestic energy production and use punitive measures, including tariffs and importation bans, against Russian oil.

"To continue to ask other countries to do what we can do for ourselves in a cleaner way is hypocritical," Mr. Manchin said. "To continue to rely on Russian energy as they attack Ukraine is senseless."

If you watch closely (hard to stomach, I know), Joe falls back on canned phrases, phrases he's been saying for 40+ years.

There's a documentary on Glenn Campbell that shows how, even as dementia took away his mental facilities, when he got on stage he could perform his songs same as he ever did. The repetition of performing all those years would sort of click into place and he would do it near perfectly. Then as soon as he got off stage, he would be lost again, doing things like peeing in the corner of his dressing room, etc.

I think Biden is similarly clicking into his default political performance mode, and only starts to stutter when his brain can't locate one of his canned, vague responses. The teleprompter reading, though, is painful to watch. . .

Oh yes, study had 300K+ children involved. ages 5 - 11 is where the negative efficacy turns up after 30 days.

Vanden Bossche predicted this. In young children, dominant response is innate immunity. ClotShot induced sub-optimal spike adaptive immunity overrides innate immune response. Adaptive repsonse always overrides innate.

Thus he concluded that the vaccine would enhance infection in children due to this effect.

Vanden Bossche, in a letter to the WHO warned don't do a mass vaccination with a leaky vaccine during a fucking pandemic predicted every damn thing we're seeing now.

Dems have moved on from the DNC directing operations which can been seen by funding for it. I think that most of the Dem money being raised goes not to advertising but GOTV operations including ballot harvesting, fraud funding via real time access to voter lists to determine who is unlikely to vote--then voting in their place via absentee or dropbox, and lawfare operations.

Only the GOP is still stuck in the old Rovian paradigm of campaign ads/flyers/avoidance of issues/etc./fundraising mailers which all earn their consultants a lot more in commissions that GOTV operations.

Black Orchid, I think a lot of the anger and dislike expressed at Ukraine was its failure to involve itself to clear the record in the 2020 presidential campaign and related impeachment. Second, all the WEF/One World Types/bankers are wanting Ukraine to win which causes doubt in what is going on here, and third, believing Putin's and Xi's style nationalism is the way to go. Some also may have in the back of their mind that Putin may go nuts and launch a broader war that could involve nukes.

535 Is it just me or do others notice that overall, the Russian military doesn't seem to realize there's a war going on? I say this because some of the videos I've seen almost seem to show that they thought this was a training exercise. Maybe not all of the military, but the one video where the Ukrainian stops to ask the tank crew if their tank broke down, they calmly respond, no, we ran out of fuel. And all very nonchalantly, as opposed to an invading force who would have been at the arms ready whenever any vehicles drove up. Second one I saw were the BMP's driving into a city and they got molotoved, and just sat there. The third I saw was an questioning of captured personnel, all who didn't look like they were older than 17, asked why they were here and the reply was, we were doing training exercises and then told to get in line on this convoy. Asked if they knew where they were, they said they didn't know. Also the instance, which I don't think was confirmed, was of Russian marines going ashore and then asking for directions. All very odd actions for an invading force.

537 whig I don't want to keep at this - but to address your points:

1) first point - they did as much as they probably could, actually, to help Trump during his term. the govt there is not fully first world. they are far, far less corrupt than they were even just a few years ago. Zelenskyy is VERY new and was very much trying to change the corruption. and it WAS corrupt - sometimes because of corrupt Ukrainians pols and oligarchs, but often b/c of Russian sympathizers and puppets. the many many years of subjugation, and the absolute rape of the fledgling country after it was finally freed from the USSR, have had a lasting negative impact. Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine are not to blame - are we to blame for our corrupt government?
2) the WEF aspect I don't know what to say, it feels ridiculous honestly. so if Soros wants to get us all against something, all he has to do is tweet one time in praise of it. that was easy! just dumb I think to jump on this. but I think it is because of your point three...
3) yes. people are afraid. I am afraid. I am against us getting involved. that's all I have to say.

Could be staged, could be real, for whatever reason, Russian columns aren't moving much, and it is clear that Putin's decapitation strategy to capture the government quickly via airborne assault did not work. So, plan B? That might mean a pause for logistics to catch up with the columns with ammo, gas, etc. The use of conscripts shown in these videos could also suggest a feint to Kiev with the main effort to the South and East of Ukraine with Russia's premier troops.

Posted by: Ziba at March 01, 2022 10:10 AM (S1hrL)

541 Black Orchid, I was trying to summarize what I think is a fair reading of a lot of AOS commenters and not my personal position.

My personal position is I dislike any invasion of countries unless they have committed invasions or allowed their territory to be used for invading others. I don't think the US should be involved militarily or even aid other than purely humanitarian such as food and medical supplies. Sanctions on the Russian individuals and government is fine with me such as denying Russia access to Swift. The Euros are leading here so let them lead and they can purchase whatever US military equipment to send to Ukraine. I also think the US should allow Finland and Sweden membership in NATO if asked now.

Involving the US directly allows Putin to assert to his people that their enemies are trying to destroy the Russian state. Harder to do that if Euroland is involved with the direct aid.

For me, I have illusions about Ukraine government being 'good' and Putin has demonstrated his rule is far from 'good'. So, my objective in this mess is to protect and advance American interests first, not play globocop.
