The Morning Report - 2/21/22

trudeaupattontiananmen.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week and before even getting into things, let me just state for the record: Forget Ukraine. And you can substitute a much shorter word beginning with the letter "F" for "forget." It's a complete wag-the-dog scam meant to distract us and the rest of the world from the abject failure of the junta that hijacked America in 2020. Except there is one caveat that will perhaps prevent me from being forced to eat my hat. For sure, Biden, Putin and probably even Zelensky are putting on an act. The headline for Sundance's article over at the Conservative Treehouse says it all:

Ron Klain Organizes a Stunning, Massive and Magnificent Biden-Putin Peace Summit Certain to Bring Nobel Peace Nomination

With everything collapsing in on the junta, causing even solid Democrat constituencies to go wobbly if not jump ship entirely (not that the GOP is ready to offer them anything but bitter disappointment like the rest of us), this is certainly the calculation - the world's shiniest object accompanied by the loudest recorded shouting of "squirrel!" in history. But if some trigger happy idiot on either side decides he's going to go rogue, then all bets are well and truly off at that point. These fools are playing a very dangerous game and their rhetoric might have some unintended consequences. Unlike the rhetoric that caused an SUV to drive itself into a Waukesha Christmas parade or a semi-automatic rifle to become self aware and start spraying a GOP softball game with bullets. No connection there at all, of course.

And with that nonsense out of the way, let's get down to cases. It's now safe to say that Cuba is no longer the closest totalitarian police state in our hemisphere. That distinction now belongs to the nation we share a border with on the 49th parallel, once considered the longest, most peaceful border in the world. It is absolutely breathtaking as well as eye-opening to witness what was once a beacon of freedom to the world descend into the madness of totalitarian state thuggery, naturally dressed up in the skin-suit of "freedom" and "democracy." In the words of the rotting lump of celeriac of a criminal pervert propped up in the Oval Office, "what the hell am I talking about?" It's merely a preview of what we're on the knife edge of happening right here. In fact, it's exactly what happened on January 6th, 2021 in the Capitol. Once again, friend of the blog Michael Walsh sets the stage:

Thus spake Captain Ahab:

All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event -- in the living act, the undoubted deed -- there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall?

So now the mask slips and the truth is revealed: it was never about masks, or [Chinese] Covid, or "the science" at all. It was always -- and always will be -- about power. The Long March through the Institutions, the hallmark of the Frankfurt School's assault on the Western democracies, has now claimed its latest and thus far biggest prize.

Who had the collapse of Canada as a functioning democracy on his bingo card? It was disheartening enough when Australia (with a "conservative" prime minister) fell, and that disarmed and benighted nation quickly transformed from the land of Mad Max and Crocodile Dundee back into the British penal colony it always was.

But Canada? . . .

. . . Now, in the blink of an eye, that relationship has been imperiled by Trudeau's abrogation of representative, parliamentary democracy via his mini-Machtergreifung last week. In this outrageous and disgraceful action he has been aided and abetted by his deputy prime minister (and finance minister) Chrystia Freeland (Harvard, Rhodes scholar), whose journalist grandfather was reportedly a Nazi collaborator during the war. Coincidentally, she is married to a reporter for the New York Times, and is a former journalist herself. Of Ukrainian descent on her mother's side, the steely, multi-lingual Freeland has emerged as She Who Brings Down the Hammer . . .

In her remarks following Trudeau's act of nation-destroying pique, she said this:

. . . These illegal blockades must and will end. What we are facing today is a threat to our democratic institutions, to our economy, and to peace, order, and good government in Canada. This is unacceptable. It cannot stand and it will not stand.

"Our democracy," indeed. A dedicated leftist, Freeland is a member of the board of trustees of the World Economic Forum, the most dangerous threat to real democracy and freedom in the world today. Led by Klaus Schwab, whose Strangelovian accent would make Laurence Olivier's demented dentist Dr. Szell blush, the WEF is the force behind the Great Reset, a cross between the dystopian visions of Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World as run by Daddy Warbucks and Dr. Evil. . . .

. . . The sad and sobering part is that some two-thirds of Canadians approve of the Trudeau government's curtailment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which guarantees freedom of conscience and religion; freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; freedom of peaceful assembly; and freedom of association. But as in Britain, Ireland, Australia, and the U.S. Canada's major media are strongly pro-government (as long as that government tilts left) and will not brook any opposition to their love of internationalism. If that means rights have to be shelved "for a limited time," well you know the old saw about omelets and eggs. It only took two years to end "two weeks to flatten the curve."

Look at the actions of these people and now you understand the absolute mortal danger we are in, not just from these putrid pukes controlling government (bad enough as that may be) but from the putrid pukes controlling the c-suites of multi-national corporations, not just Google and Microsoft but finance like Blackrock. Now you know why there is a drive to end paper currency, or why the IRS was pushing to report (IIRC) bank accounts and/or transactions above $600.

Now couple all this with vaccine databases, the consolidation of all your medical history with the government courtesy of Obamacare plus the unwitting collection of all of your private personal information over the past 20-30 years courtesy of Facebook and other social(ist) media and voila! Instant Panopticon with all of us the inmates and an Axis of governmental and corporate elites as the warders, gently nudging us towards a more civil, and enlightened future. If I were to make a prediction, it will resemble something akin to Kolyma at the height of the season, if not Babi Yar.

The most troubling aspect of all of this, as I emphasized in Michael Walsh's excellent piece, is the massive approval by the Canadian citizenry of what Justine Castreau-cescu and his underlings are doing to these truckers and their supporters (notwithstanding of course the accuracy/reliability of these polls). The Germans who eagerly burned Jewish shops and synagogues on Kristallnacht share much in common with the Canadians who threatened Terry Giuliani, the gelato shop owner who committed the heinous sin of sending some money to the truckers. But let's say for a moment that the polls are wrong, and that a majority of people do not support the evisceration of Canada's Charter of Rights. Well, where are these people? It's one thing to actively cheer the persecution of your friends and neighbors. What is perhaps worse are those who stand by, shrug their shoulders and do or say nothing.

The estimable Roger Kimball observes:

A single, nonviolent convoy was shattered by state violence. More than 100 people have been arrested. But many thousands simmer out of reach. Who knows whether they will climb back into the cabs of other 18-wheelers.

You can be sure, however, that their demands for freedom will continue to resonate. And one strand of that cry will demand the head, in political terms, of little Justin Trudeau. In fact, it is already happening. Trudeau won a skirmish but lost his credibility, which means that he has also lost legitimacy and, ultimately, that he will lose the war.

It's comforting to think that. But if this is a "war," and I believe that it is, the forces that are arrayed against us are truly staggering. Even worse, though, is the hostility and indifference of far too many of our fellow citizens. And that is where this struggle will ultimately be determined.

As I wrote before Joey Softserve was installed on January 20, 2021:

. . . we are going to enter a phase of our lives where we will be confronted with situations, perhaps even of life and death, that are going to challenge us in ways that until recently seemed unimaginable. Not just physically and emotionally but in ways that will force us to confront who we are and what we believe as rational, decent, G-d fearing human beings.

As it turns out, that was not hyperbole on my part. Given what's happened in just over one year, it's coming to pass and I can't even imagine what the hell is in store for us this time next year. More and more, you are either with us, or you're with the terrorists.

George Washington and Abe Lincoln are turning in their graves.

36 This one is even bigger than the other links JJ posted today:

FERC issues 'historic' overhaul of pipeline approvals
https://tinyurl.com/mvuhad9a

"Under the revisions to the certificate policy statement approved yesterday, the commission will consider four major factors before approving a project: the interests of the developer's existing customers; the interests of existing pipelines and their customers; environmental interests; and the interests of landowners, environmental justice populations and surrounding communities. Henceforward, the commission must weigh all of the benefits against all of the adverse impacts, FERC staff said."

Basically, FERC has overwritten Congress, has taken the law into their own hands, and has put certifications for any natural gas projects, pending or in progress subject to environment lawfare w/r/t "environmental justice".

Earth First now has veto power over any pending or in-progress natural gas projects.

73 68 Dems moderates targeting the squad? Sure, just a BS show for the rubes. The most they will do is "distance" themselves from some of their insane policies publicly, while supporting them privately, and avoid being in a picture with them. I have trained in Aikido for several years. I've learned both LINE training and MCMAP courtesy of a few years as one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I would much rather have avenues of escape for me and my wife than try to get into a full on confrontation.

A martial art is just one tool to have handy. to summarize, we have begun the war between the Physicals (those whose careers and lives are based on producing and dealing with goods that exist in the physical world) and the Virtuals (those whose careers and lives are based on the non-physical, which includes the entire professional class today. Trudeau has jumped to become the Enforcer for the Virtuals over the Physicals, which is why most of that class, which includes the ruling classes in every country, support what he is doing.

No, having seen my mom's path, medical turned docs into experts and concerned parties of only their own fields. If you need docs to talk, communicate, and collaborate, you need to bring the docs and push that communication. Or you need to get concierge to do it for you.

I think that's pretty close to right, with some exceptions. For instance, I know a lot more software developers (especially those of us who really started in the last 20 years or so) who are much more conservative/libertarian than those who are more progressive/statist.

Part of that is that I live in Texas, but I think part of it is that we see real value in meritocracy and buy into the idea that *you* are in control of your actions and choices, not someone else (there's something about having to design, write, and test software that goes along well with that sort of thinking).

We are definitely part of that "Virtual" class, though, so it's not a 100% fit.

Nothing will or can be changed by elected officials, they reflect societal changes, they do not cause them. Never have. As Breitbart said, politics is downstream from culture. This culture has to be sabotaged from within and brought into a state of collapse and crisis before any actual changes can or will be made by any elected officials. (although some, like DeSantis, are willing to be on the leading edge)

Winning elections is still important, though - that is your defense, a movement has to have at least *some* presence in officialdom to stop the government from doing what it is doing in Canada. They are an effective defense.

Why did they wait 4 years? Because they had to work incessantly on those around them to prepare them mentally for the break to come. We are not their yet, if you use that analogy we're at 1773 at best.

But when hyperinflation and energy shortages begin to collapse the system, maybe by the end of this year, then will be the time that they will be vulnerable to overthrow from below. Until then we have to prepare, organize, an anticipate - just like the founding father did from 1772 - 1775. This is not a short or easy fight ahead, it is the fight of our lives - and we do not seek to simply remake the government, we have to rebuild our society itself.

There are 13 of the 39 that have bio pages at the World Economic Forum, and those have important portfolios that if truly compromised indicate that we are not currently in control of our own destiny. While this is the externally injected poison into the political body's veins, you also correctly pointed out that there are far, far too many people inside our borders who are quite comfortable with the way things are going.

Canada and America are both zombies wearing masks, shuffling down the road towards total state control, occasionally noticing each other and being shocked at how bad the other looks.

And yet I can not, and will not give up hope. Sometimes it has to get worse before it will get better.

From an operational standpoint, the cities, hell, society in general is quite vulnerable.

OPSEC on details, but small groups that are trustworthy, don't talk or use cell phones, and spot infiltrators, can do a lot of damage. Note the Oxford comma.

224 Do not think the Peaceful Protests were ineffective; they have done exactly what they were intended to do, which was force the enemy to show their true face, and to show all of us just how far they are willing to go. (which is to implement, by decree, a full blown fascist dictatorship) It also exposes the fact that most of the residents of the largest cities and the ruling classes are 100% behind them in doing this.

So now everyone can see just how much we have arrayed against us - it's a lot, for the time being they have more physical strength than we do, so we cannot fight on that level. It doesn't mean that we cannot fight, though. They have huge vulnerabilities.

226 An extremely good analysis of the true nature of the current situation is found in this substack piece, "the Honkening will Continue"

https://tinyurl.com/2p94t79x

to summarize, we have begun the war between the Physicals (those whose careers and lives are based on producing and dealing with goods that exist in the physical world) and the Virtuals (those whose careers and lives are based on the non-physical, which includes the entire professional class today. Trudeau has jumped to become the Enforcer for the Virtuals over the Physicals, which is why most of that class, which includes the ruling classes in every country, support what he is doing.

It always has to; the point of effective resistance is to get the general public to agree that the current situation has become so intolerable that it must fall, and be replaced by something new. Have no illusions about "reforming" what we have now, though - it must fall, and be replaced by something now. Not just government, but our dominant culture itself.

I think they would have a gone a lot farther than what they did. They would have ordered their security forces to machine gun down the truckers if there was any serious resistance and their media would have suppressed any coverage. And now they will now be hunting down and ruining the lives of everybody involved in the protest that did not get arrested. The ruling classes really are ruthless totalitarians.

I agree, and with that fact now exposed in an undeniable way, that stage of protest can end. I suspect now the focus will shift to much more behind the scenes sabotage, plus smaller and focused protests that can be thrown together and dissolved before the officials can react effectively. The point is not to "win" any of these, the point is to keep up constant action that the Powers will always have to be concerned with chasing down.

In terms of those of us who are technically part of the Virtual Class, and most of us here are; the question is, Which of us are fundamentally honest and actually believe in some level of morality and decency beyond our own personal self interest? There are a large number of us, but we are not a majority in that class, not even close. A sad fact of human nature is that a majority will go Nazi if they think it personally benefits them. They have to be shown that it will not personally benefit them, and that only can happen after the forms of society are failing.

TS some excellent thought provoking posts as usual. I read and keep close to my heart Solzhenitsyn's essay Live not by Lies. The tittle alone is a worthy motto. He was a prophet. His pithy instructive quotes are easily found on line.

The strength or weakness of a society depends more on the level of its spiritual life than on its level of industrialization. Neither a market economy nor even general abundance constitutes the crowning achievement of human life. If a nation's spiritual energies have been exhausted, it will not be saved from collapse by the most perfect government structure or by any industrial development. A tree with a rotten core cannot stand.

Everyone here understands how the electoral college works, right? So everyone understands that the Presidential popular vote means jack and sh!t?

The way this election was stolen was not at the ballot box. It was in the statehouses where the feckless legislatures didn't have the stones to stand up and say "No, that's not how we're gonna do this." Instead they allowed themselves to be overruled by governors who claimed emergency powers, governors who then changed the election rules, and then those legislatures chose their electors accordingly, or at least did not challenge the way they were chosen, which amounts to the same thing.

Joey Softserve was, according to the Constitution, legitimately elected. You can acknowledge that there were shenanigans in the election and also recognize that the rules were followed, even though that following was close to the edge.

Trudeau has jumped to become the Enforcer for the Virtuals over the Physicals, which is why most of that class, which includes the ruling classes in every country, support what he is doing.

No, they don't, which is their problem. They can't just wave a wand and overcome problems of logistics.

Politics like warfare is subject to 'friction,' and Canada is no exception. It's weird how the same people pronouncing doom and gloom today were pronouncing it six months ago. Biden was unstoppable, BBB was going to get signed into law, Manchin would cave, etc.

It gets boring after a while, you know? Every advance of position brings a requirement to defend that position and an expenditure of energy. Trudeau is striking from a position of weakness, not strength. This is the 1918 Kaiserschlacht, or the Battle of the Bulge. It is a desperate attempt to win everything in one last throw.
