The New York Times called the Olympic Games "a joyless spectacle," while other media adjectives include "the low bar of avoiding total disaster." According to the Associated Press, through Tuesday, an average of 12.2 million watched the Olympics in primetime on NBC, cable, or its Peacock streaming service, a 42-percent dip from the 2018 Winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. "Only 10 million watched NBC alone, a 47-percent drop from 2018, and through early last week, it was down 57 percent in the critical 25-54 age demographic from the Seoul games," Fox News reported, noting the Super Bowl viewership boost NBC got from airing the Olympics right after the network aired the game. I don't know about you. But, I never saw this coming. Nah, just kidding. Seattle PD having trouble hiring new officers Politicians often can’t really afford to be far-sighted. Their constituents want immediate results, not the promise of better days down the road. Yet officials can be far too short-sighted for their own good. Seattle, for example, was another of a handful of cities that cut funding to their police department not all that long ago. ***SNORT*** The cargo ship Felicity Ace is aflame from bow to stern with a lithium-ion battery fire that can’t be put out with water alone. The fire has been burning since Wednesday (Feb. 16), as the ship drifts in the Atlantic about 200 miles southwest of Portugal’s Azores Islands. Its 22-person crew abandoned ship and was rescued on Thursday. The ship left Germany on Feb. 10 and headed for the US with about 4,000 Porsches, Bentleys and other luxury cars aboard, and some of those were electric vehicles. It’s not clear if the batteries contributed to the fire starting in the first place—a greasy rag in a lubricant-slicked engine room or a fuel leak are the usual suspects in ship fires—but the batteries are keeping the flames going now. A forensic investigation will take months to determine the cause. Kamala Harris, the San Francisco Headhunter, is a pleasant individual. Really. Democrat President Joe Biden’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Amy Gutmann, has returned to the United States just days after first reporting for duty during the Munich Security Conference, taking a commercial flight back to the States after Vice President Kamala Harris refused to let her fly home on Air Force Two. Gutmann, who presented her credentials just days ago — Thursday of last week — to begin work as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, attended meetings at the Munich Security Conference with world leaders and fellow top U.S. officials, including Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Ottawa Mayor Proposes To Sell Confiscated 'Freedom Convoy" Trucks Ottawa police put an end to the "Freedom Convoy" protest in the downtown district that lasted for three weeks. On Friday and Saturday, officers arrested demonstrators and seized their vehicles. Now Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson wants to sell those seized trucks and campers to recoup millions of dollars the city lost during the three weeks of gridlock. On Sunday, Watson told Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that trucks, campers, and other vehicles seized from the convoy should be sold off, claiming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's emergency powers could give him authority to do so. we discussed the 19 indictments of Austin, Tx police officers over the George Floyd riots, in the last thread - they may not turn out the way the Soros-funded prosecutor thinks it will. He ran on a defund and indict the police platform, and he's carrying out his orders.
However, one of the indicted officers is Justin Berry, who is running for Texas House District 19, a collection of suburbs. He promises to make this indictments, and their obviously corrupt nature, the centerpoint of his entire campaign this year - and he stands a good chance of winning office based on this. Jack Posobiec's Twitter feed has a really incisive look at the 'mental conditioning" of hate used by the Colbert Show.
there's 10 seconds of some propaganda 'fact" , followed by a snarky dismissive quip, quickly followed by a prompt to laugh and a long pause for the laughter. Lather rinse repeat. Audiences and viewers are being trained to cue 'derisive laughter" for anything that opposes the narrative. It moves along briskly, so there's no time for a viewer to pause and say "wait, what?" On a depressing news day, Politico has a happy news story.
350.org, the environmental organization founded by the odious Bill McKibben, noted a few years ago that it was white. Blindingly white. Who would have expected such a thing in an environmental organization founded in Vermont! So, they decided that they were going to fix this, so they vastly increased their budget, and hired a bunch of "authentic" People of Color - i.e. people with chips on their shoulders. They announced this at a $800,000 "retreat" at a five-star luxury resort in Killarney, Ireland. Well, none of the senior white people gave up their jobs, of course, so they acquired minority underlings. Then fundraising didn't work out, and they laid a bunch of people off - none of them the senior white people, of course. The minority underlings screamed that this was racist, since minorities were being laid off. The senior white people said, no, it was mostly white people laid off. Then the minority underlings screamed that this was racist, since they were having to do the work of the laid-off white people. You love to see it. Hello everyone, I have a question - what do you think about signing a living will? My husband and I are re-doing our affairs and one of the documents the lawyer recommends is a living will. I'm not on board. My worries - the document says 2 doctors will review my case. I don't know who these 2 doctors are. Suppose one of them has a kid with a ball game that he needs to get to when he stops by to see me. Bing, I'm gone. The other concern is - suppose we end up with socialized medicine and the doctor works for the government instead of for me . . . and budget cuts are encouraged. I'm not sure I want to sign away my rights, and I'm not sure I want to make my death convenient for everyone. What do you all think about living wills?

A "Living Will" generally is meant to cover end-of-life medical decisions, and is supposed to ensure that the makers wishes as to end of life medical care will be respected.
This can be done many ways, it doesn't have to include two specific medical professionals, for example. I can give some insight from personal experience 2 years ago, when my 85 year old father suffered a sudden sharp illness and within a few days, lapsed into coma. He had made sure to tell everyone in his family, and had put in writing for us, his earnest wish that if ever reached the point where his life was only being sustained by machine, he wanted the machines turned off. He was very adamant about it. When that actually happened, his directions made it very easy for his family to make the decision, with no guilt. We let him go, as he wished. I kicked in the door of the teahouse where he ran his piss-hookers, and there he was, running off pamphlets during an election year. I said "step away from the press, Johannes Putinberg!" He told me "why don't you meet me behind the banya, and I'll tear you up like one of my bear-bitches." That's when Woodrow Wilson explained to me that you can't take guff from a Slav, and he handed me a shotgun. I went around back of the banya, and my gun-moll Dr. Jill blasted him as soon as we heard him behind the door. That's how I learned how to bring the trunaliminiprazure to a place like Ukraine. I remember he was making references to Lenin choosing the borders of Ukraine - I presume Putin is trying to make the point that he isn't some commie bastard and he's trying to remove some of the mistakes of communism. Rhomboid the unification of the office happened after von Hindenburg died. There was no way Hitler was going to tolerate the election of a replacement president that might challenge his authority. The president as head of state was technically his superior as Chancellor. So a vote of the people created the office of Fuhrer to which Hitler naturally ascended. I watched the movie "Darling" (1965) today, and Dirk Bogarde's character, a journalist and writer, interviewed an old author, who was played by Hugo Dyson. Per Wiki:
Hugo Dyson (Walter Southgate) was a fellow of Merton College, Oxford. He was also a member of the Inklings, a group which included C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. However, he often loudly expressed his displeasure when Tolkien read early versions of his stories. He was recorded at one Inkling meeting as saying "Oh, fuck, not another elf!" If we don't blow this clay and granite planet apart, I'll have a decision to make. The upcoming video game Starfield looks fantastic to me but it won't play on my Xbox One; I'd need to upgrade to Series X/S and that would not be cheap. I faced a similar dilemma several years ago when I upgraded from 360 to One so I could play Ryse. Turns out, Ryse was a crap game. Will Starfield also reduce me to tears? Anyway, I'll have time to decide. Starfield isn't scheduled for release until November and announced release dates are often delayed months or even years.

By the same metric, I would assume that the insurers would pay the Volkswagen Group the full Invoice & Holdback amounts, plus the shipping costs. No single Lloyds syndicate will suffer the entire costs, as "risks" such as these are laid-off (sub insured) to a myriad of "re-insurance" companies. We never hear of these giants, but one just acquired American National Insurance Company in Galveston, which is an American Top 50 insurer, doing appx. $100 Billion in annual revenue. "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" is a good example to use in teaching music theory, because it totally breaks the rules. Many of those chords are dominant chords and none of them function in the traditional manner of dominants (V7 to I).

292 "Lithium, like all the other alkali metals, burns in an oxygen atmosphere - who would have ever thunk this?"
OK, so what does this mean? They won't be extinguished by spraying water on them, but they need oxygen, so they won't burn underwater? ---- Lithium also reacts with water to produce lithium hydroxide and hydrogen gas, so it will go on reacting under water. Anything's possible, but since they just gave him effectively unlimited powers tonight, it seems unlikely. Posted by: Methos at February 22, 2022 12:49 AM (kOpft)" His government is crammed full of people pushing the really crazy stuff, and it seems a very large number of lefty voters are experiencing erections lasting longer than 4 hours over the emergency powers stuff. Some of the things they have done already, and what they're promising to continue to do - these are not things you do when you think you will EVER lose power. Because if they let go of the tiger's tail there is a very real chance of getting lined up against a wall and shot. And I think the followers understand that too, hence the drive to crush people. I don't think the progs are finished there until things get really kinetic and they have a Tiananmen moment. I mean a real one - gunning people down and finishing off the survivors, not just offing a couple of protesters here and there.
