prague.jpg

Big tough mastiff is afraid of a little snow.

Cat meets snow.

Adorable baby bunny.

Puppy is learning how to "walk" from a bunny.

Downward Prairie Dog.

This is a strange bird.

Apparently when an octopus dreams, instead of running in place like a dog or cat might, it runs through its various camouflage schemes.

Advancing on the enemy position.

Inman: Groove tube.

Washing the scum off the windows.

Compilation of soy being spilled.

Dog sorts out a traffic jam:

This pig is also in business of keeping traffic flowing:

17 2 Quick perusal Sooth. Mischief in Ontario is destruction, harm, or obstructing the use of property. So, like theft, the greater the property interest, the greater the penalty. They have either something like our misdemeanors where summary justice handles sentences up to 18 months without a jury. More serious charges of mischief involve indictments and jury trials and can have much greater sentence ranges.

However, nitter sometimes doesn't work right, and it's not working on about half the Twitter links above. It's not the redirector, but nitter itself, saying "tweet not found".

So, there's still some bugs in nitter.

Canadian law is kind of strange as was English law when they were under the EU Court of Human Justice purview.

Canada has its Charter of Freedom but much of the caselaw derives from English practices which supposed parliament as sovereign and that limited remedies and relief for bad acts. Canada and England dealt with some by not having the concept of qualified immunity for individual officers for being sued for illegal actions unlike the US. So an illegal search allows you to sue the police officer that did it.

So, we will see what the Canadian courts are made of here as typically they have been concerned more with the rights of suspect classifications of minority groups than Canadians as a whole.

80 Working dog (short coated Border Collie?) is incredible.

Town had a Border Collie that was used to control the geese at a small lake. The caretaker used to take him out for a run every morning. He'd be on his bike and still that dog would lap him twice. And if there were any geese in the lake that dog would take a flying leap into the lake right into the middle of them if they were close enough to the shoreline. Scared the crap out of them and they'd take off.

Then the individual officers can be sued personally as long as Parliament does not pass a law stating otherwise.

Basically, the doctrine of ultra vires--that is beyond the law applies liability to the individuals doing that particular action but not the state. From my memory of Canadian law which is patchy and rusty, Canada does the same.

It works fine in Brave and, ugh, Edge too.

I overwhelmingly use it on Brave where live feeds won't play but videos are fine in my experience; and it doesn't display the whole page using scrolling but cuts posts up into smallish groups so you have to hit "load more" alot to continue through the thread; similarly, if you hit a "see more tweets" link, it goes to a new page and you have to hit "load more comments" again to see the hidden reply, that's usually only one tweet, and then you have to use the back-arrow key twice to get back to the main thread.

Annoying but preferable to both feeding the Beast, and putting up with the new Twatter timed visits being 30-seconds or whatever.

Yes, fifth amendment protections can't be used in civil cases because they arecivil cases and thus aren't needed. Man, the noisy people on Twitter are uneducated AND stupid at the same time. It appears what Durham is building is a criminal conspiracy case and not just individuals acts. The statute of limitations for a single federal crime is usual 5 years but the statute of limitations for a criminal conspiracy is 5 years from the last act of the conspiracy and that last act doesn't even have to be criminal.

The conspiracy against Trump went on into his presidency in 2017, I have no idea exactly when it ended but was during his presidency, so it's pretty likely we aren't there yet. Probably getting pretty close which is why it seems the pace is picking up.

131 In general, anyone fearing criminal charges from a government suit can assert 5th Amendment privilege if they fear that they will expose themself to criminal liability.

In the case of Leticia, she has blabbed more than enough about getting Trump so he can justly claim persecution and fear of 'trumped' up legal charges from her subsequent to the suit. So in order to compel testimony, a grant of immunity for the specifics of the testimony would have to be granted.

That is what sank prosecutions of Oliver North and John Poindexter as Congress gave transactional immunity for their congressional testimony and Independent Counsel Lawrence Walsh could not show how he got enough evidence to charge either of them without using that testimony as a basis to gain further evidence.

Tolling (counting time for statutes of limitations )of charges gets into the weeds of caselaw when dealing with conspiracy charges.

Usually, any act furthering the conspiracy which would include interviews with journalist denying or stating a fact involved in the conspiracy, calls between co conspirators involving obstruction, and so on, would count as an act that would extend the statute of limitations. So, for different conspirators, it could actually be different as far as tolling of limitations based on whatever actions were made by a particular conspirator.

If nothing else, it's perhaps occurred to her what with being younger than 70 years old and all that all this power currently being used against the donks' enemies and various bystanders can easily be turned against them in a few years (months?) when the public gets sufficiently weary of funflation and urban lawlessness to actually do something about it.

Trump could ball up and wipe his ass with every scrap of paper that is handed to him and then set it on fire in the oval office waste basket, he's the President of the United States, every document handed to him was composed in word and sits on a server, ie, the original document, everything he gets is a copy.

The only issue would be if he annotated or marked up a document and it become a working copy and was to be archived and even then he could simply say, changed my mind on that one.

Again, this and the National Archives Op are complete bullshit.

but mining stocks were up big, Exxon about even. And that is what may be to come. Inflation should be commodities do well ... but markets have been way overvalued. ...

imo 34,000 (DOW) is still a key support, which I'd guess will break this time. But maybe they want to break the USD instead, on the path to NWO? ... idk, I've been pretty bearish since 1999 ... then they did Iraq War, and QE forever after the housing bubble (theft) ... so we are in uncharted territory .. trusting in infinite printing to benefit the oligarchs.

355 So we've established across a number of threads that my personal position on Covid vaccines is skeptical, and heavily based on a mix of logical inference and historical patterns. What's interesting is that I've been asked about it a couple of times at work by both the pro- and anti-vax camps, and neither of them really knew how to respond to that line of reasoning. It felt like they had already mentally prepared an NPC reaction to either of the two possible NPC responses, but then I wrote in my own and broke the dialog engine.

Because my stupid pancreas does not tolerate any kind of fat, I'm on a diet that not only bans alcohol and anything fried but also even the "good" fats. So no avocados, no butter, no olive oil, no nuts, no half-and-half, no cheese, no chocolate.

Giving up wine and beer doesn't bother me that much since the older I get the less I drink. But giving up alcohol AND almost everything I enjoy eating as well just sucks.

No, I thought I was going to get it out this week, but when they scoped me on Sunday, there was so much blockage in my pancreas that they couldn't do everything they needed to do. The doc told me my insides are basically all swollen from the scope and need time to settle down a bit before they do the scope again and take out my gallbladder.

420 "They have to unwind their vast bond holdings..."

not necessarily ... imo. Do we know they are not just constantly adding to their "on the books" fake QE? Are they even buying bonds, or just "printing money" out of nothing? IF they "buy" bonds, the interest on the bonds goes back to government.

I'm foggy on it .. they were giving cheap/free money to banks, banks would buy bonds and collect 3% (or whatever) ... so that floats the banks? It is all massive transfer of wealth ... but just putting it of the fed balance sheets seems cheaper than giving the banks all the money for free, even as they fail to loan out that money (they prefer the secure government bonds)

The Queen is nothing but a symbolic figurehead in Canada. She has absolutely no power at all in Canadian govt. Same is mostly true of her in Britain itself, but she does have some actual formal powers. If she exercised them, it would cause a crisis mostly likely.

In Canada, the governor-general plays the role of the monarch. That office is appointed by the Queen, but on the advice of the prime minister. In the old days, the King could appoint who he wanted, but now it's just symbolic.

Some countries that have parliamentary systems are republics, and there a president plays the role of the monarch or governor-general.

In France, it's different, with the president having some power and the PM having others. It's complicated.

"Mischief" is basically disorderly conduct, involving property. And the Crown itself doesn't get involved in criminal actions. The vehicles are reportedly Porches, VW's, Audi's and up to 200 Bentley's. Some are special orders and one offs that are considerably more expensive that your run of the mill Porsche 911 GT3/S or Bentley Kardashian globohomo versrion LGBQ.

Sounds like someone's protection money payment might have got lost in the mail and didn't get to the recipient in time.

493 Who holds sway in parliament? I don't understand their rules. Can the conservatives stop it?
-------------------------------
338 members currently have seats in the House of Commons: Liberal: 159 -- Conservative: 119 -- Bloc Quebecois: 32 -- NDP: 25 -- Green Party: 2 -- Independent: 1

The Liberals have a Minority Government so need enough votes for 50% +1 [so like 169 votes] when they only have 159 party members. Unfortunately the left-wing NDP have said they are "reluctantly" supporting the Libs; probably the Greens too; so the Conservatives need the separatist BQ to vote against it along with any dissident Liberals like the 3 or 4 MPs who told Justin to do as the truckers demanded and any NDP who genuinely support the workers.

The Senate is more balanced including nonpolitical appointees like an R.C. nun [I think she's still there] and may vote against it that would stop it too.

In 2010, the Fake News slur on certain Republicans was "Tea Party favorite."

This year, it will be "Trump favorite" candidates running for office.

496 the last time the fed tried to "unwind" just happened to screw Trump for the midterms ... coincidence I'm sure.

A really irritating thing when I was watching the YouTube vid of Question Time: There were no subtitles for the French speakers in your Parliament. I got subtitles only in English, not when I actually needed them.

I got the impression that the Canadian Frenchies were quite pissed at Junior. Is the Bloc Quebecois going to vote with the Conservatives on this one?

500 346 337 Holy cow. I just heard the DOW was down 600 today. WTF?
Posted by: Infidel at February 17, 2022 09:16 PM (JAkXN)

When I was 15, (And that is longer ago than I am prepared to admit), I heard the news announce that the DOW was up about 200 points because of some reason. Two days later, they announced the DOW was down 200 points FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON! It was my first indication that the media was clueless, lying or both.

Yesterday My 15 yo said something to the effect that CNN was trash. Now, mind you, she only watches YouTube and tiktok videos...So the youngins are getting the message that CNN is horrible news without Mom having to point it out. Much more powerful. Yes, tiktok is also a problem, but one at a time.

That must have been the French video-feed! The English feed has the French subtitled and nothing for the English.

If you select LIVE from the pulldown menu below and select House of Commons Proceedings, I think it's the live feed now. And CPAC means cable public access channel and NOT the American group!

I don't know about the Bloc although I hope they are pissed enough especially as daddy used the original War Measures Act against the separatists.

505 Speaking of banned books, I'm trying to stock up on wrongthink before it all gets Ameri-banned (simply disappearing from the marketplace through voluntary censorship).

I ordered seven books by Hoffer and Solzhenitsyn today. Next paycheck will be Orwell and CS Lewis. Then Paul Johnson, I think.

(I'm a home schooler with 4 to go) I just gave thanks to God that I have every math book needed all the way to calculus and all the literature including Shakespeare on my shelves. If the grid and society go down, between my husband (math) and I (lit and history), we can get the next generation going. I have 2 of Jordan Peterson's books, plus a few CSLewis, Orwell and others.

509 Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog?
I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out
pretty quick. I'm thinking about creating my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips
or suggestions? Thank you
