Albertans are waking up Wednesday to what could be the beginning of the end of COVID restrictions in this province, despite warnings that the government may be moving too quickly. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced on Tuesday the province's COVID-19 vaccine passport program will end immediately. At an evening news conference, Kenney said the restriction exemption program has served its purpose, but is no longer needed since Alberta passed peak of Omicron infections about three weeks ago. "The threat of COVID-19 to public health no longer outweighs the hugely damaging impact of health restrictions on our society," said Kenney, adding his government would only move forward if it does not threaten the capacity of the health-care system. Capacity limits were also nixed Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. for venues with capacity limits under 500, including libraries and places of worship. Effective Sunday at 11:59 p.m., the province will no longer require masking for children and youth in schools, and for Albertans aged 12 and under in any setting.Some other restrictions are planned to be lifted March 1. There would still be some restrictions remaining after that -- I think a requirement that government nurses must be vaxed is among those -- and those may be lifted at some point, but they don't have a date in mind for that. It's progress. And it was all sparked by some truckers who drove to Ottawa and honked some horns. People will keep going along with the program until they realize they have another option. And until you kinda force them to actively choose -- instead of passively unconsciously "choosing" -- to continue going along with the status quo, or opposing it. Note:

Ottawa -- Water-filled gas cans are being used by "Freedom Convoy" protesters as part of a cat-and mouse game with police. The efforts to frustrate police come as federal officials refuse to say when -- or if -- Ottawa would get the 1,800 extra officers it says it needs to end the demonstration. With no end in sight for the entrenched protest, Ottawa police announced on Sunday they would be cracking down by arresting anyone giving "material aid" -- such as fuel -- to the protesters. But on Tuesday, police revealed that demonstrators were trying to subvert officers by filling jerry cans with water, or just leaving them empty. "It does provide a layer of logistical complexity to us," said Steve Bell, Ottawa deputy police chief. He said the increasing number of gas cans being delivered to protesters presented challenges to conducting stop and searches. "It identified a level of sophistication and a level of ability of this group to try and subvert police efforts," he said. Bell told reporters that there had also been confrontations with police and there were fears for the health and welfare of children with the truckers. "While attempting to seize fuel from demonstrators, multiple officers were swarmed by these same demonstrators," said Bell.The police are, of course, acting as criminals, because peaceful protests are a human right in Canada. Cops are claiming that the truckers, by simply upsetting the leftists who live in Ottawa, are acting non-peacefully and therefore illegally. Remember, the Canadian government officially supported the BLM rioters.
Ottawa police reminded that exercising Charter freedoms is not a crime POSTED ON: FEBRUARY 8, 2022 OTTAWA: The Justice Centre has become aware that Ottawa police are seizing fuel that individuals want to donate to truckers who are part of the Freedom Convoy, and there are reports of truckers having been arrested. "It is winter in Canada. Protesting publicly in freezing temperatures requires the truckers to have fuel to stay warm. Confiscation of fuel jeopardizes the personal safety of the peaceful protesters," states lawyer Jay Cameron, Litigation Director at the Justice Centre. Section 2(c) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects the right of all Canadians to gather and protest peacefully against (or in favour of) government laws and policies. Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly has stated publicly that the truckers have been peaceful, and have not caused any harm to Ottawa residents. Provided that the truckers are peaceful, their protest in a public place is expressly protected by the Charter. In one video, it appears that Ottawa police are justifying their seizure of fuel by claiming that the peacefully protesting truckers are violating the Criminal Code, in particular section 430 which makes it illegal to destroy or damage property. Described as the crime of "mischief," section 430 also makes it illegal to interfere with the lawful use and enjoyment of property, and illegal to obstruct people when they legally use and enjoy property. The video features a claim, apparently made by an Ottawa police officer, that the truckers are violating the Criminal Code, and that anyone bringing fuel to these truckers is therefore facilitating criminal activity, which therefore justifies police taking the fuel, "as evidence" said the officer in the video. "The Ottawa police seem to be rebranding the exercise of the Charter freedoms of expression, association, and peaceful assembly as criminal mischief under section 430 of the Criminal Code," notes lawyer Nicholas Wansbutter, counsel for the Justice Centre. "The truckers in Ottawa have gathered in Ottawa to peacefully protest government lockdowns and vaccine mandates. Many reports indicate that the vast majority of the protesters have been peaceful and law abiding. The truckers are not obstructing people from moving about the city," notes Mr. Cameron. "Ottawa police have the right to ticket people, including truckers, over seatbelt violations, illegal parking, and other traffic infractions. However, it is misleading and deceptive to label a peaceful protest in the nation's capital as a criminal offence," continues Mr. Cameron.I know people are saying that a judge has ruled that the police must give the fuel back but I can't find any news stories reporting that, just stray claims on Twitter. If you have a news report, please link it. This post claims that fuel has been returned to a distribution hub, but I just see food and toys. Alas, I cannot understand the French exchange. Except for "Il y a," which does not help. ("There is.") This video does show fuel cans being unloaded at the site. But is this after the seizure of the fuel, or before? Again, there are no news reports noting a judge's order. If you know of a news report about this supposed order, please link it. Right now I'm pretty sure this is all internet nonsense. Kids were welcomed by the truckers. On several occasions they allowed them to clamber up in their cabs and blow their air horns.

And why is that? It's pretty easy to answer, actually. Bouncy castles are fun. The honking is pissed off, but it's fun, too. Nobody there is happy to be there, but they'll be happy while they're there. All of the footage I've seen shows, for the most part, good-natured people doing what they need to do and having some fun when they can. They're protesting and showing their gigantic balls to an oppressive government, but they're also feeding each other, having some drinks, partying a bit, playing with kids, listening to music, etc.
There is absolutely nothing that enrages a totalitarian more than unsanctioned fun, especially if that unsanctioned fun is happening in association with a formal and organized opposition to their power. Bouncy castles for kids in the middle of a gigantic protest against the totalitarians is an unconscionable thing for them. It says too much.

So the police actually have valid justification to act, although locking down fuel is... not only counterproductive but not permissible through law either, as far as I understand it (Canadian law is much less concerned with individual rights and commerce than American law).
Plus, you WANT them to run out of gas and be stuck there? how does this make them move? If your goal is to get the trucks out of there, stranding them seems contrary to this goal.
The thing is, protests typically are treated differently by law and authorities, because it is viewed as a valid and important civic action. And if these guys were all yelling about black lives and looting and burning, they'd probably be left go longer and unharassed.

I agree about the scientific rationale underpinning the policies changes. I was speaking more about the marketing of the changes, the mealymouthed doublespeak about cost-benefit analysis. You put a political filter on science, and it is no longer science. The science says stop all the bullshit yesterday.

She skipped the State Fair last summer, which is traditionally a requirement for any person in Wyoming wanting to get elected to state-wide office.

A few years back there was a story about the Denver Public Library's main branch (downtown) starting to stock narcan because homeless peoples' OD'ing on their premises had become common. The article interviewed a guy who had been living in that library during open hours for - no joke - over 20 years (!). They also mentioned that they had just started installing locks on some of the public bathrooms within the library so that patrons could get a key and use them without having to stumble onto homeless patrons camping out in their (bathing, shooting up etc.).
OVER TWENTY YEARS! I'd say they enabled it, and they brought these ODs and other abuses on themselves. Stupid Lefties.

I live in a Red District in one of the most reliably red zones in the US. I just went to a doctor's office yesterday that had been screening/limiting visitors and forcing masks for the past 1+ years. This time, the screening gauntlet was gone and there weren't even signs saying to mask up. That's a dramatic shift in a medical setting.
So, my patient and I proceeded to the office waiting room - maskless, naturally - and guess what? All other patients were masked. This of their own volition. They've either opted for mask by choice or retain the conditioning that "authorities" have trained them to follow. My take is that it's the latter.
Staff masking was about 50/50, so the overt signal that unmasking was acceptable was evident. Most people, however, still follow old rules and "habits" due to the hysteria and dysfunction built around them. Pavlov would indeed be proud that his theories still persist.

Yeah, IIRC most clot shot deaths occur with 48 hours...but they won't consider a death in that time frame "vaccinated" which is why as per the FNM almost not one has died from the shot.
Also, right after getting the clot shot or the booster there is a MASSIVE reduction in immune response. And as you point out, if someone gets COVID and dis from this they will be counted as "unvaccinated" even though the clot shot is the reason they died.

I solved that issue. I bought a fuel transfer pump for like 60.00, runs on 4 AA batteries. I fill 4 6 gallon cans and keep them full and pump fuel from them to smaller cans for other things. The no spill AlGore specials are like him, they suck balls.

Two weeks ago, the FDA begged a Texas judge to delay production on the first monthly batch of 55,000 pages of Covid-19 vaccine data submitted to the agency by Pfizer. Originally, the agency was set to produce just 500 pages-per-month.
Now, Pfizer - which just forecast $54 billion in Covid-related sales in 2022, appears to be anticipating some bad news, as evidenced by several redline changes in their Q4 earnings releases.
As Rubicon Capital's Kelly Brown notes on Twitter, the changes center around disclosures of unfavorable safety data.
For example, in Q4 they added: "or further information regarding the quality of pre-clinical, clinical or safety data, including by audit or inspection."

Had both HO and N gauge layouts in the past. N-gauge is a bit more difficult to make scenery and building model structures. HO gauge takes more room but has more options. O gauge takes a LOT of room. Z gauge you pretty much have to stick with Swiss mfgs and it is much more expensive than N gauge as a result.

Easily 30% of what I do is putting quotes around a line from an error log and putting that in google. If another search could bring up results on that, I'd use it.
Also ironic is that google is better at evading the googlebait SEO bullshit and returning better results from real reviews; ddg gives me six pages of results from Generic Amazon Link Farm Dot Com before I get to actual reviews from people who owned and used $thing. Bing just gives up and gives you its own vendor affinity link results; it's basically a shopping engine.

Outsourcing only worked due to really low International transportation costs, and no tariffs.
With Tariffs in place, AND Transportation costs from China increasing over 200%, outsourcing loses its luster.

And it only works - along with JIT, for that matter - in a world where war is just sooooooo 20th Century. None of that stuff can survive in a world where war comes back.
The world peace we've had in essence since the end of the Vietnam War (and even that, along with Korea, was a largely local affair) was assumed by a lot of people to be the new permanent state of affairs. I suspect a lot of people are starting to reassess that assumption. If there's a big war anywhere in the world, this stuff breaks down.

And remember - the Left have fully abandoned their traditional bastion of the working class in America. They have become a coalition of educated elites, indigent welfare-cases, and assorted degenerates of various stripes. They don't work in critical sectors. The ones who work, work in jobs people can and will live without.
Industrial strikes are a tactic they can't easily counter except with violence and repression. They just don't have the right people to stand in the breach if workers say "no more." Are they going to climb their ivory towers and command their masses to thank Brandon for their free crackpipes by manning the drilling rigs and driving the trucks?

It's an onomatopoeia for the sound a FUCKING TRUCK HORN MAKES. You know, like, trucks. Like, because these guys are truckers. With trucks. That have horns.
Horns that make a noise that sounds like "honk honk" when you pull the cord.
This tendency to ignore true grievances because they can literally create a narrative making the aggrieved look like racists feels very much like a "let them eat cake" moment. It hasn't gone well for those who've attempted this in the past.
