"There's nothing wrong with me. . . . wrong with me. . . .wrong with me."

The painting conveys this man's mental troubles - at least to me.

Or maybe he is a writer having lost his muse. The piles of crumbled papers in the background. . . .

"It was a dark and stormy night." Nope
"It was the best of times and the worst of times." Nope
"Here I sit brokenhearted. . . " Really, now?

*I'm glad he's saying this, for whatever it's worth, just noting that this newfound love of conversation is a little late, given his huge role in coarsening political discourse, reducing it to editing tricks, snark and audience clapter.

159 n the 1940s Freud and fellow artists Adrian Ryan and John Minton were in a homosexual love triangle.[50] After an affair with Lorna Garman, he went on to marry, in 1948, her niece Kitty Garman, daughter of sculptor Jacob Epstein and socialite Kathleen Garman. They had two daughters, Annabel Freud and the poet Annie Freud, before their marriage ended in 1952.[51] Kitty Freud, later known as Kitty Godley (after her marriage in 1955 to economist Wynne Godley), died in 2011.[52]

In late 1952, Freud eloped with Guinness heiress and writer Lady Caroline Blackwood to Paris, where they married in 1953; they divorced in 1959.[51]

Freud is rumoured to have fathered as many as forty children[53] although this number is generally accepted as an exaggeration. Fourteen children have been identified, two from Freud's first marriage and 12 by various mistresses.[54] Writer Esther Freud and fashion designer Bella Freud are his daughters by Bernadine Coverley.

Like so many Freud paintings it seems he decides to waste his talent deliberately, almost as if he doesn't really enjoy art but feels compelled.

217 Scotlands Greatest Poet

That reminds me of a joke:

A Scotsman goes into the finest hotel in Aberdeen and orders a magnificent meal with all the trimmings. When the bill comes, he studies it, pays it and then, rising from the table, leaves a single penny by his plate.

The waitress glares at him and mutters, "Even the champion miser of Aberdeen leaves a shilling tip when he comes here."

The man puffs his chest and says, "Gaze upon the new champion."

It seems like DC really missed the boat for getting the big bucks, I would think.

Is there a single song of his that's played on a regular basis? And most if not all, really aren't the kind of popular tunes that multiple artists cover.

All of those 60s-70s groups/songwriters really. Even the Beatles.

Bowie looks like a genius selling all his tunes off back in the 90s, when they could still be considered to have value.

301 It seems like DC really missed the boat for getting the big bucks, I would think.

Posted by: naturalfake at February 04, 2022 10:29 AM (5NkmN)

It mystifies me why these artists are getting paid nine-figures for their catalog, when nobody these days is listening to it, and you're not going to see these songs in any movies or commercials - at least not in enough frequency to command the money that pays off the investment. The only thing that I can think of is that the catalogs themselves are being valued like works of art, and that other rich aging boomer investors, who want the cachet of owning 'Simon' or 'Springsteen', will pay down more down the road for them.

The vaccinated have never been non-carriers, because the vaccine doesn't sterilize so in that respect this is not new.

The implication, however, seems to be that the vaccinated are getting the Omicron at the same rate as everyone else (at least), and since they're a majority of the population they're spreading most of it. The more interesting implication is not that the vaccinated are spreading it, but that they're getting it at such high rates (e.g., it doesn't protect against Omicron, something a lot of the data indicate).

By their own numbers, the vaccines did not work one iota and more than likely compromise the immune systems of the people that have been vaxxed, and any amelioration we've seen has been the natural process of acquired/herd immunity and virus tendency towards attenuation.

Or alternatively...
