Willowed exactly at the n00d:
I've thought that about La Marseillaise. Incredibly bloodythirsty. Given France's unenviable military history, you'd think they'd dial that stuff back a bit. Not even the Prussians went in that in their national anthem. I think Felix Von Luckner once said something like the song was dedicated to one of his ancestors, who was a mercenary in the French Army at the time. I work with pretty much every glue known to mankind. Its a pain to have them all, but it's needed. The right glue for the right job.
You want a real challenge? Try working with hide glue. Not only do you have to make it, but then you got 15-30 seconds to get things clamped after its applied or else it gels and won't work, unless you preheat the parts you're gluing which may buy you another 20 seconds. Its a must on violins and classical guitars, because it's reversible for repairs, and has the best sound/tone transfer. The other upside is it pulls tight as it cures leaving an invisible glue line, and it cleans up easy. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at January 30, 2022 02:15 PM (VwHCD) 58

I worked there for a short while. If you decide to go with them, make sure you know exactly what maintenance you need to have done to what covered items and do it. The more expensive the item, the more important that is. We have been doing small projects this weekend that almost all require some kind of adhesive.
I cut the nasty old canvas off an antique trunk and sanded and waxed most of it. But I decided to put a different vintage fabric that I love on the front. This requires large amounts of ModPodge decoupage glue. Today Hubbymayhem was working on a steam punk lamp we built a while back adding old radio tubes from an antique radio. This requires E6000 glue. Evidently it also required a drill and some swearing. Now the trunk is sitting on end housing the printer and some plastic drawers and the lamp is on top! It is not glued down. Posted by: Madamemayhem (uppity wench) at January 30, 2022 02:19 PM (Vxu+H) 75

Posted by: Some Dude at January 30, 2022 AHS is slimy. $75 to make a claim. You won't hear anything for days. If you try to call, there is no option to talk to a rep, unless you choose the "new customer" option, then tell them you want to talk about the claim. They sent someone out to fix my oven twice, didn't fix the problem, but closed the ticket. They wanted to charge me another $75 to send someone back out. I called the repairman directly, and he told me that I had to ask the rep to transfer me to the "rework claim department". They won't do it unless you specifically ask. Still had to fight to get the $75 refunded. They order the parts. So even if the repair guy has the part on his truck, he has to go through AHS to tell them what parts he needs, and wait for them to order and ship. Then come back ad repair. Took 2 weeks to get a water heater element replaced. Luckily my house has 2 water heaters. WKRP was an MTM Production and was supposed to be a twist on the Mary Tyler Moore formula as that show got long in the tooth. This time it was a new boy in a flyover town, and a radio station instead of TV, same "bullpen" main set, the boss was befuddled rather than a grouch.
It was the immediate emergence and popularity of stellar characters like Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap that turned it into the classic that it was. Instead of basically the intended "The Andy Travis Show" which wouldn't have worked nearly as well. Posted by: Guy Smiley at January 30, 2022 04:05 PM (njfCw) 454

Last week it was Josh Allen being an excellent QB who really needed a defense that didn't suck. The Chiefs appear unstoppable. Defenses just disappear when facing them.
