There are actually people for whom vaccines are not medically appropriate.

It's interesting that there is zero conversation about this and instead we have health authorities insisting it's "perfectly safe" when no treatment is 100 percent safe for everyone.

That right there wrecks their credibility - not that they care at this point.

Catherine, the old ways still work. Tell 'em, "Get stuffed."

Did your daughter start looking around for a writing group? Ours may have lost a member, an elderly Christian lady who simply wrote to our organizer that she was withdrawing. I don't know why; she seemed to enjoy our meetings and even had us over to her house for Christmas. I've got to write her. We need more members anyway -- we're down to 3, all guys, which I know is odd. One is into SF, the second is a poet and fantasy writer, and I do fantasy and crime!

67 Good morning all. Just want to say thank you to everyone who urged me to go to the ER on Tuesday night for what was Bell's Palsy.

They kept me overnight after my blood pressure was 220 over something and my blood sugar was 300. So they were worried of signs of stroke. But I had none other than the Bell's Palsy. Wed morning was testing. CAT scan, heart echo, leg vein ultrasound and then MRI all one after another. All came back negative for signs of stroke. Doc said I have a strong heart.

Kept me another 24 hours to monitor bp and blood sugar. Was able to leave Thursday night. Ran around yesterday getting prescriptions filled for all the meds and blood sugar testing supplies.

Very humbling experience. I was in ER alone from about 11pm to 2am (got my own room upstairs around 5am). They then brought in an elderly man next to me who had been found on floor of his bathroom after having a stroke. Laid there thinking if I don't change things, that could be me in future.

True. I remember I didn't do much creative writing during the school year, and my public school, long ago when you could get a good prep for college at one, was a lot easier than a Catholic school. Summers I slept a good part of the day, got up late, and when my mother went off to work (night nursing shift), I sat up and read and wrote.

89 Very humbling experience. I was in ER alone from about 11pm to 2am (got my own room upstairs around 5am). They then brought in an elderly man next to me who had been found on floor of his bathroom after having a stroke. Laid there thinking if I don't change things, that could be me in future.

95 Also, the entire experience helped me gain some perspective on my view of doctors and nurses and healthcare system. While I know there are still plenty of issues in general, my specific experience was a great one.

I probably saw around 20-25 different people between the nurses and doctors in ER, the nurses and doctors on my floor after I was moved to my room, the technicians for the different tests (CAT scan, heart echo, ultrasound, MRI), the dieticians, the speech person (for the Bell's Palsy), the nurses assistants. All were kind, attentive and did their jobs well. And they were always attentive to make sure I was comfortable. Even apologizing sometimes for the heart echo and ultrasound sometimes needing to put me in uncomfortable positions and getting the gel all over me.

So, no more reading me making broad brush statements that doctors and nurses can't be trusted and saying they're all untrustworthy dancing fools of the Plandemic. I was wrong with that. There are problems with some sure, but going through this experience helped me gain good perspective going forward. Blessing in disguise.

Our parish is walking a fine line because it's a liberal college town. Masks are no longer required but "welcomed" (most don't wear one), and I guess this scared people away.

So they have a special 5pm Mass for the fearful that is fully masked, spaced, no contact, no singing, etc.

Just seems strange to insist on that level of precaution...to receive the Eucharist.

The same is true for law enforcement.

Lots of police have behaved with restraint and respected rights during the lockdown and after. One reason why Michigan has no statewide mask mandate is no police will enforce it - and that's been the case for a while.

I think a lot of the excessive force we see is officers working out their wrath at being told to do this nonsense. By making it comically overdone, they're purposefully trying to provoke a backlash.

The barber in Owosso a year ago got pick up by all those State Police not as a show of force, but of absurdity.

Posted by: Jewells45 deplorablethug#FJB at January 15, 2022 09:23 AM

Thank you, Jewells. And I received the keychain I ordered last week. Thank you!

I learned a LOT about it on Tuesday night even before going to ER. Then researched a lot while I was in hospital. The basics are that it can be triggered in number of different ways, but doctors aren't always sure of the trigger. The cause is imflammation of the nerve number 7 (?) in your face. That gets inflamed from something and causes the Bell's Palsy. One of the possible triggers I read about is tooth infection. I have a bad tooth that I could not get worked on since my bp is too high, so I am thinking that could have been my trigger.

Typically, what I read stated that it can heal on its own even without treatment within about 4-6 weeks. But I think with treatment can possibly be sooner. But I think 4-6 weeks is general timeline. In some small amount of cases, people can have it last longer or have recurrences. But the majority heal within 4-6 weeks and its gone.

157 Typically, what I read stated that it can heal on its own even without treatment within about 4-6 weeks. But I think with treatment can possibly be sooner. But I think 4-6 weeks is general timeline. In some small amount of cases, people can have it last longer or have recurrences. But the majority heal within 4-6 weeks and its gone.

They may be walking a fine line, but I disagree with the rest.

CCP legitimacy is based on killing citizens who disagree even slightly, and the willingness of the CCP to kill is unlimited.

For example, Jack Ma made a mildly critical statement of local regulation and poof! He was gone. He left his company, Alibaba, his Ant Financial IPO (scheduled to be the largest in world history) was cancelled, and he has only sporadically been heard from since. He's lucky to be alive.

The CCP might like it Chinese prosperity were to continue growing but it's control of power is all it cares about and the base of its legitimacy.

The other isn't so sure all is lost and want to hedge their bets. This is the Manchin/Sinema faction, but they are not by any means alone. Those two get the abuse, but at this point I think the majority is moving into this group, partly because Biden's numbers are so incredibly bad.

Hah, all the sounds from all the machines seem to be a blur to me now. From the heart monitor machine to the automatic bp machine, etc. Then the CAT scan and MRI had their own sounds too. MRI was probably the most annoying, especially with having to wear a mask, headphones and then a cage. Then the small space of the machine. But thankfully I kept my wits about me, they played classic rock music for me in headphones and I got through it with minimal stress.

I am 45, turn 46 in 4 weeks. They kept telling me I was young and I took it as them trying to put me at ease, but really 46 is not young. Considering avg mortality is 78, 39 is midlife. So up to around 30-35 is "young"-ish. I'm middle-age. But I guess what they meant is that I have time to get myself back to good and still enjoy my middle-age and older years.

If the Left had a strong, charismatic leader they could be inspired to all Fight to the Death - but a senile, gibbering fool and a drunken whore sure don't evoke that kind of dedication. Leadership counts for a lot in any conflict, and right now they have none. (Which is why Hillary is trying to slither back out of the shadows)

Yep, agreed. Though I did notice something a bit annoying, but I guess it is what it is now.

I was at Ascension Providence in SE Michigan (ironically, the very hospital I have mocked in the past because they had the big letters out front last year saying "Heroes Work Here!") and it is a Christian hospital. A few times a day they have hospital announcements with prayer. The first prayer on Wed morning worked in talking about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The Thu morning one worked in Social Justice. Nothing radical or anything, just basically saying the words and saying ask God to help us be good to people, etc. But it did take me a little by surprise.

Does the PLA have a single recruiting intake?

No. It is set up as separate regional armies under separate commands. This is to prevent any one person from having total control (other than Xi) but this also creates multiple points of resistance.

Because things are going so well, the PRC also had to split police functions from the PLA, and this force has been doubled in recent years.

When you have to double your police forces, that's a sure sign of security, right?

That also creates an additional source of danger to the regime because now the PLA has a competitor.

Though I understand there are a lot of people who are upset with police based on everything that has been going on the last couple years with COVID, but also their personal experiences prior to that, I've always tried to not broad brush them as all bad. But I did broad brush with doctors, nurses and healthcare industry. There are still lots of issues everywhere that need to be fixed, but I think this was a good life lesson for me to gain some perspective and maturity.

Allopathic medicine here in the USA is top-rate. These are things our healthcare professionals do very, very well.

It's very good to keep that in mind! The trouble we're seeing tends to be in the "softer" stuff - preventative, vaccinations, and such-like. The hospitals aren't really built for holistic/preventative, and honestly I think the docs just don't have time to focus on stuff like that or bother questioning it. They have a lot of more important things to do.

Good luck to you, Clyde!

The environment in which force is used is crucial. The post-1949 PLA was a combat-hardened and fanatical force ruling a people used to brutal rulers and expecting nothing more than subsistence agriculture.

Expectations have greatly changed since then. The PLA has not fought a battle in 40+ years, it is staffed by men without siblings. That's a far cry from Mao's forces.

Indian accounts of the border showdown indicate that the PLA troops broke immediately after being offered resistance. India's been bragging loudly about it, but you won't hear it in the US media because China hates that.

I had no idea what was happening. It was a slow-sudden onset, if that makes sense. I noticed around 3pm that I had a crooked smile. Throughout the afternoon/evening it got gradually worse. Then in evening/night I noticed I could not move the eyebrow on right side.

Thankfully, if I just keep a resting face, I don't really have any noticeable drooping. But if I talk or try to raise my eyebrows it is really noticeable.

300 The environment in which force is used is crucial.

301 One big thing I appreciated is that at no time was a COVID vaccination pushed on me. They asked if I was and asked if I wanted one and I said no to both. And that was it. They did give me a nose swab test, but it came back negative, so that was good too. I told the ER nurse, that would just be my luck, to have that too along with everything else I was in for. Thankfully, I didn't have that complicate matters.

309 There is a common assumption that treats institutions as if they are persons. Another common assumption is to believe that institutions share a common purpose and mind.

They don't. Chinese communism or even the older Soviet model had its rival power centers with their own leaders just like the US does. For example, the whole deep state idea actually derived from study of Turkish politics prior to Erdogan with the military serving as the guardian of the political system. So the PLA for example has a number of generals that make money from commerce, a lot of the local governments are afraid of central government crackdown on finances and corruption, the new policing apparatus is another interest along with the oligarch supporters in the CCP. Then there are regional differences within China itself. So Xi is the front man of the regime but there are any number of individuals and organizations that might be biding their time and biting their tongue until an opportune moment.

Yep, that's my medication as well. Except no vax for anything.

And 2200mg sodium target for my blood pressure. I checked some of the foods I regularly eat and I blow through that 2200mg with just one meal sometimes! (Example... frozen thin crust pizza. Calculated that 1 slice has 650mg of sodium. I typically can eat half the pizza in one setting, so 4 pieces. That's 2600mg of sodium right there, in one meal, not including anything I have to drink).

So my big thing going forward will really be portion control. Don't really have to change my foods much, just eat much, much less of them. So 1 piece of that pizza in a meal, instead of 4. Or lower sodium pizza options.

I've also learned the joys of health insurance. I have it through my employer, but I have not paid attention to it for 10 years, since I never have used it. So I found out my insurance didn't cover the Pharmacy at hospital. Then it didn't cover Walgreens. Then finally it covered CVS, but did not cover one of the prescriptions for Jardiance that was $500. So doc cancelled that prescription and gave me one that they covered. But wow, what an experience.

So glad that you're better. I have a friend that had Bell's almost 30 years ago, and it was scary for him at the time. Cleared up, however, with no further signs since.

One thing that I've gotten much better about is getting an annual physical, even if nothing is wrong with me. Why? Because it helps docs to establish a baseline for what's 'normal' for me. Then, if numbers deviate from that, they have something to do on to figure out what's happening. A small matter came up in my tests this year, and my doc was able to go back to previous years and determine that it's no big deal. Very comforting to know that.

357 From what I've read of the various stories dealing with election fraud is that the old floating vote trick has been used in a number of states. With absentee ballots or mail in and no signature match/discard of envelopes, etc., it is trivial to register a fictitious person into the voting rolls. Ideally, and by law, Secretary of States were required to purge voting rolls for those moved, dead, or non-existent in the first place. They don't--even with Republican Sec. of States.

In addition, ballot harvesting was used either with the ballot recipient's knowledge but probably not as that would require payment for ballots. Cheaper and more secure to simply create fictitious people on the vote registry via phony registrations, send masses of ballots to a central pickup area, and then send someone to collect and mark those ballots. The other means is to pay residents for their ballots and then mark them up. Usually 5-10 dollars per ballot used to be the rate. That is probably not worth the security risk.

Same here. I'm 29x2, and I can say that I'm in better shape now than I was at 29x1. Glenn Reynolds extols the virtues of Rippetoe, and after doing strenuous functional exercise for years I picked up his Starting Strength, as well as a book called The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40, by Sullivan and Baker. Eye-opening, especially with regarding to what they call the Sick Aging Phenotype, which is where many middle-aged people are. Exercise and diet definitely takes care of avoiding that health outcome.

Posted by: grammie winger at January 15, 2022 10:38 AM (45fpk)

383 Then, there is the ballot adjudication process where in Dem dominated areas, the real ballots are thrown out with an election judge adjudicating them for the Dem, real time evaluation of who has voted which allows an absentee ballot to be inserted into the process in their name if they have not, ineligible voters such as felons, out of precinct, etc., discarding late votes for the opposing party and counting those late ballots for yours, and so on.

Then, the last trick is simply running the ballots through the scanning machines again.

The 2020 election steal used any and all of these methods where available with possibly tens of millions of fraudulent votes across the nation. Absentee ballots and vote by mail are the key though to fraudulent elections along with fraudulent voter registrations of ghost voters.

I would not be surprised though to find out that GOPe has used some of these tactics though in primary elections which is why they are reluctant to address the fraud or that the fraud has become so endemic--that the GOPe fears a civil war if the Dems responsible are caught and punished.

Wow, that's awesome, observer! My goal is going to be to be in better shape at 47 than I am now. Then better going forward, etc. I have a full home gym (stationary bike, elliptical, rowing machine, dip bar, power tower, workout bench with weights) that I just have not been using regularly going on about 5-6 years now. Lots of reasons I won't go into. So I am confident that if I just get back to my regular workout routine (as well as portion-sodium-carb controlled diet) I had when I was doing it to stay active (softball 4 times per week, wallyball once per week) in my 30s, I can kickstart my system again. Not into softball and walleyball, but just the exercise routine. Goal is to be able to get back to what I love, which is rollerblading in MetroParks.

400 360 It is not impossible to steal Congressional seats, it happened in 2018. In VA, Spannberger lost her race until they "found" a thumb drive with 80,000 votes. Just for her.

Posted by: blaster

In the case of Spannberger, the opponent had the duty to challenge the vote--in that case, I suspect that the Dems already had the fictitious ballots documented as a discrepancy of printed ballots and the results would be obvious at that amount. I can only guess at the likely coverup but it is possible for a naked steal. That though can only work through opponent cowardice in challenging the election.

Posted by: Darrell Harris

There is a complicated back story, in the 2018 election, old voting machines made by Diebold were used for the last time. Those machines did not generate any paper audit trail. Kemp was SOS at the time and purged some of the floater population of voter registration before the election and was challenged in court about it. The central servers for that election result and tabulation were housed at a state university and were wiped (supposedly accidentally as a routine procedure) before they could be investigated.

416 So glad that you're better.

One thing that I've gotten much better about is getting an annual physical, even if nothing is wrong with me. Why? Because it helps docs to establish a baseline for what's 'normal' for me. Then, if numbers deviate from that, they have something to do on to figure out what's happening. ...

And yes, I think I can appreciate now the importance of annual physicals. Catch this stuff before it gets really bad. I was diagnosed pre-diabetes based on blood pressure I think back in 2014 I think. But I blew it off and did nothing to change, since I didn't feel it affect my day to day life at all. But now I realize had I took the warning then, this could have been avoided. So, lesson learned. Thankfully I have a good primary care physician now and can trust going forward.

430 I think I also got back in touch with God while I was there. Have been strugglng with my faith over the past 2 years. But first thing I thought of when I was going through all this was to pray. I think it was mostly out of habit (raised Catholic since a child). But maybe this is another thing I can get back into my life along with good health is good spiritual health.

Prayer and faith are hugely important, especially in times like these. The worse things have gotten, the more I've turned to God and He has never let me down.

Funny, I'm musing on what I want to do today and I think I'll do Reconciliation and then the vigil Mass.

438 A bit off topic, but during your stay and the weight and exercise presentation that comes with high blood sugar, did they at any time mention diabetes as a ccovid risk?

Posted by: CN...FJB at January 15, 2022 10:40 AM

The only time anyone brought up COVID was to ask if I was vaccinated or wanted the vaccine. That was it. Thinking about it now, I guess I'm a little surprised they did not bring it up (obesity as risk factor re: COVID). But I'm just glad I was not pressured into anything. If they did suggest it, I would have rejected it still and told them that I know of the risks to one's immune system with the vax and I know I have an extremely strong immune system. And that I do not intend to take anything that will put that at risk.

Thankfully though, I did not have to have that conversation.

But Kav's two big things are Gun Rights and Abortion.

I can't see SCOTUS not striking down NYC's anti-gun law. (only celebrities and diamond merchants need apply). Even though Roberts will hate this outcome as Media will go crazy and the Left will threaten SCOTUS' legitimacy.

I live in the South Bronx and so I plan to get a Glock when I can under NYS law when NYC's lawis struck down. For shits and giggles, and to take out any pit bull that goes after my little Shiba.

This cannot be emphasized enough. I was listening to Curtis Sliwa's radio show earlier this week, and he told a story about Tucker, when he was on MSNBC. Sliwa was subbing for him, and Tucker told him not to go to nuts from the right, because of Tucker's audience. Sliwa doesn't have a great opinion of Tucker - thinks he's an actor, playing a role. Now, Sliwa's a nut, but he's been in the game for decades now, so I think he knows of where he speaks.

I'm a fan of Tucker, don't get me wrong. I just see that everyone's playing a role to some extent, and we're the audience watching the play.

Otherwise dump the new stuff in, give it a shake, and keep on rolling.

There were lots of casualties, as we all know. One story of note is about a waist gunner on a B17 whose plane was cut in half by a German fighter. He was ejected, with a parachute, but since he was unconscious, he fell from 20,000 feet, like a sack of potatoes, into a German barn. He survived, received good medical treatment (28 broken bones) was taken as a POW, later liberated. Amazing story.

N95s are respirators. Real, by-golly respirators. Pulmonary testing and monitoring exists because they're dangerous as heck.

Same as the ban on Ivermectin and locking elderly people in nursing homes, they WANT people to die. Once you accept this everything starts making a lot more sense.

Like I said, I'm a fan of Tucker's. He did a long-form interview with Charlie Kirk where he talked about his life and experiences, and I think he's the real deal. He, however, has been in the 'game' a long time, and he's been on CNN, MSNBC, and FOX during his time in the public eye. The industry has been very, very good to him, and he has paid a price. At the same time, he was longtime friends with Hunter Biden, and tried to help him get sober - unsuccessfully, of course. All that is to say that I think that behind the cameras there is a lot more humanity going on than we think.

Along those lines, people who are now considered NeverTrumpers spent years taking slings and arrows for the cause decades past. I still don't understand what happened there. I get Silicon Valley cash, but on some level it still baffles me.

486 I expect Kav and Amy to vote to overturn Roe v Wade, and kick abortion back to the states. Unless Roberts weaves his magic spell to put them in thrall.

What this will mean is that NJ can allow abortions until the fetus matriculates.
