Meet The PetMorons

Well it looks like Sobek has brought out the best in fellow artists. The following is from "Long time Lurker".........

Here’s a sketch of my cousin’s Sheltie puppy Bonnie. I love her mismatched ears
Sign my long time lurker

What a lovely dog and what a lovely sketch. I'm somewhat envious of your skills. Thanks for coming out of the Lurker darkness.

Churro.jpg

This is Churro a chihuahua mix. I would love to know what else is in there lol! He's a cutie! He does have a few health issues the biggest being an enlarged heart. Right now he's also battling a cough which we have him on medication for. After a thorough vet visit he will probably be on more. He loves all the volunteers and has already been integrated with the other dogs, with supervison. He was an owner surrender due to her being moved to a nursing home. - Jewells

Once again Jewells, thank you for all your work you do with these Sr. Citizen dogs.

OBLIO ON BLANKET.jpg

A repeat pet moron.

Here is a picture of the most spoiled cat in the world, Oblio. A picture of her highness lounging on top of the blanket.

Regards,
Butch

Repeat Morons are always welcome, especially if they are cute and spoiled. Thanks for sharing today.

I bought a new toy for Paisley.
How long will it take for her to destroy it. She's very determined.

Speaking of repeat Pet Morons. Good to see Paisley again being spoiled rotten. Thanks Northernlurker.

Thanks to all who submitted to today's Ace of Spades Pet Thread. It's a shame to see how the Pet Morons are so neglected.

17 I'm curious about something with my current cat, Scotty. He was an indoor cat from the time I found him as a stray and the landlady encouraged me to adopt him, until about two weeks ago, when I face-planted trying to keep him in. (This 78-year-old is no longer spry enough to catch an escaping young cat ::sigh:

Anyway, I knew he was well house-trained (no accidents since I got him), but now that he's indoor/outdoor ... um, he comes inside to use the litter box, then goes right back out if I can't get the door closed in time. I never had another cat that did this, and I was wondering if any of you have seen this behavior?

21 Today, Little Buddy, now our biggest dog, dug up and killed a gopher. Our cats kill gophers. This is a first for our dogs that we know of.

It looks like one of the dogs may have then eaten the gopher. We're not looking into this too hard.

Posted by: KT at January 15, 2022 03:14 PM (0ghg2)

22 KT, my deranged BMC has done his best to eradicate the gophers from our yard. The little buggers elude him, being quicker through their tunnels than Our Hound can dig, but the result is a yard that resembles WWI France. Sometimes the lawnmower gets stuck in a particularly deep trench...

LOL, yes, once had a cat what did this! She had been indoors only for first few years of her life, and then we moved to an area where it was safe to let her out. Guess she didn't know what dirt is for.

Having the opposite problem with newest cat: He only goes outside for rest stops, doesn't seem to know what litterbox is for. On the third brand of litter (unscented) now. At least he doesn't go anywhere else indoors either!

31 Fingers crossed I might be getting a puppy! Suddenly and magically the stars aligned. I go to meet the breeder on Monday, and could be coming home with a puppy - I think they're a little over 10 weeks.

So this weekend will be spent tidying up and puppy-proofing casa clutch, and then reacquainting myself with the pros and cons of puppy ownership.

33 @27: "Having the opposite problem with newest cat ..."

That's basically the holy grail of cat training if you've got a nice yard and your kitties aren't homicidal killers. My exchange student host family in the UK had three cats that they'd push outside immediately after morning feeding. They'd all be back within an hour or two, and never a litter box in sight.

41 Yup, Scotty dashes outside first thing in the morning with my dog Lucy. Lucy takes care of her business in a few minutes and wants back it, but Scotty -- who probably relieved himself in the litter box overnight -- stays out until he either starts disliking the weather, or needs to use the litter box again.

Drat! I thought if he started getting out, he'd at least use the litter God provided, and I could get out of litter-box duty -- and buying the stuff!

Our Siamese used to be an avid hunter, and up in the hills that was what we needed. She especially loved gophers and moles, because it was easier to just sit and watch a hole/mound for hours half asleep.

I think I told the story here before that our city neighbor decided to start a squirrel rescue, building a gigantic cage to keep them in until they were well enough to release into the wild. She didn't know however that her gigantic male chocolate point Siamese cat was catching the squirrels within minutes of release and devouring them. Unlike most cats it didn't leave the cadavers at the doorstep, so she had no idea. That cat would just sit and stare at the cage, no doubt saying "oh yeah, that's my bitch" as the neighbor fattened them up for the cat. Hysterical.

I saw a young cat actually with a squirrel in its mouth. But I guess the squirrel bit the cat and got away.

The oak is huge with a lot of limb paths for her to take. She did well though backing down the tree on my command. I assume one day that won't be the case but she's pretty smart, My other kitteh , the brother, is too fat ( big boned ) to climb trees.

A neat story from one of my FB friends a couple states away. He and his wife and I were in college together decades ago...she died of cancer a couple years back, they were a real love match. Yesterday he posted pics of his new dog he got from his local humane society, that had already been named by them--his wife's maiden name. It's a short name but not a very common one at all, so it was kind of amazing. Guess he saw it online, or a friend sent it, and he thought "there's my dog."I swear, I believe there are heavenly forces at work with our pets, more than we know.

83 3... and they sounded like 12.
Posted by: Martini Farmer
I've heard them out in the desert when I was visiting AZ. It's kind of neat but I wouldn't want them near me obviously.
Posted by: Jewells45

there is a pack of maybe 4 or 5 that ranges through my area. when they sound off, it's as though they morph into 20 or 30.

few weeks ago, they startled a screech owl (maybe 5" tall, max) and the dang thing sounded like a (i would imagine) grown adult woman screaming in fright during a nasty ax murder.

84 I've been wondering about wolves. When they're between hunts and chilling with full bellies do they bark at random stuff?

Maybe they were too old to feel they could take care of him
or they had a illness in their family which made cat care difficult?. At least he found a new person to care for him.

89 Ann Wilson -- I had a little gray tabby for many years. She came from the great out of doors in the fall, but I was able to keep her in all winter. Came spring, and she was out the door like a shot. But she always came back inside to use her litter box. She liked going outside to play or even for the night every so often. But she always, always, always hollered to come inside to use the litter box. Then back outside she'd go again.

95 Jewells, the ones here in Kentucky that I've seen are sorta' small. Maybe 15 pounds, soaking wet. Like a small fox. But they make a racket. Cats are not fazed one bit by them.

96 Aafia Siddiqui sounds about as charming as Ahlam Tamini.

If playing with a cobra is considered charming by you.

97 New Old Dog appears to have a new lease on life right now. He is still too thin, but is eating again and is his normal obnoxious self. My older two kids can't have a normal conversation with me because he has to bark his own comments. We all laugh because I guess his misbehavior is a sign of health. We all think he is lecturing the two kids to bring the children more often.

101 71 How can I get my 2 year old corgi to come on command?

I'm trying to do that with my 7 month old Border Collie/ Aussie mix. Some times he does and other times there's just too much interesting stuff out there. Any tips would be most appreciated

103 Do cats' eyes glow during the day? Old Cat was playing by the window and his eyes were glowing bright aqua. Looked like some kind of scifi robot cat. He has normal old green cat eyes and I was wondering if that meant he was getting cataracts or something radioactive.

I heard that. Any one of these networks would be really smart to adopt that song as their lead in or bumper tune. Instant recognition.

106 It is normal for cat eyes to glow if the light hits them just right. My blue-eyed Spastic Cat Snobol's eyes will glow red any time the light hits them, day or night, so he looks like a Tyrell Corp Replicant.

107 Mustbe, I think that's just the lens they have. I have a pic of my rather young Siamese, and the camera flash caught her eyes, making them glow, and made her look very sci-fi. Her eyes were fine.

108 Coyote hunt tonight at the place. Ours tend to run large enough to be a danger to cats, dogs and fox.

Wolves generally don't bark except as juveniles. In domestic dogs, barking is a retention of a juvenile behavior into adulthood. Neoteny I think is the name for it.

115 I need my nap, but Old Dog and New Old Dog are showing off their restored health by getting on the couch. I really did not think they would make it to Christmas, but they seem to be having a good patch. We were all ready to take one or both in to the vet, but they're having a good time right now, so I'll let things be.
