Mornin' again, all,
Chekov the Great has had his first breakfast with nerve pain pill. He just now limped back into the kitchen for seconds. Temp is 56 here, going up to about 70 or so, with 40% chance of rain and 70% tomorrow. No point in washing the car; I'll give it a quick rinse to disperse the dust and let it go at that. [And then it got complex because, although she's retired, I could conceivably keep working throughout my 60's and 70's -- so had to figure out tax implications if I kept working. I also should apply estimated annual Cost-of-Living increases with actual inflation and all that -- but way too complex, and hyperinflation will likely destroy everybody by then.] Anyway, bottom line is (were things to remain relatively static we both will end up with more money paid out, if we wait until full retirement age of 67, by living beyond 79 years; whereas if we wait until say age 70, we'd each need to live beyond 83. Well, I'll continue working for a while this year. I'll have SS, and then when I formally retire I have the pension (small, but useful, and it might be a tad higher by the time I leave). No car note, fairly low rent. I can look into one of those Medigap policies or Medicare Advantage plans. If I don't waste so much on credit card purchases, and I can dig up some income from online writing/editing gigs, I think I'll be all right.

Morning peeps. Two early thoughts:
1) SCOTUS has outlived its usefulness. It has morphed into Night Court where petty disagreements are decided by retards. They've ducked any significant Constitutional issues for years. 2) Social Security's website has some informative tools, but you have to create or have an account. They already have your salary/earnings history so you can do a bit of "gaming out" scenarios to see what your monthly payment would be. Lastly, if you're anywhere near eligible to draw SS, do it. They are betting you die before you've exhausted your allotment and there's no way to pass unused SS payments to a child or spouse upon your death. During arguments, Kagan said that workers "have to get vaccinated so that you're not transmitting the disease that can kill elderly Medicare patients, that can kill sick Medicaid patients. I mean, that seems like a pretty basic infection prevention measure."
_____________ Here's the flaw in that argument: we know that the vaccines don't actually prevent transmission of the virus. Fully vaccinated people can, and do, get infected themselves, and transmit the virus to others. We also know that the vaccines carry their own risks. VAERS has reported more than a million adverse vaccine reactions, including tens of thousands of deaths and permanent disabilities. The government has no right to force anyone to submit to experimental drug therapies (with unknown long-term effects) that could potentially kill or permanently disable them, merely to slightly reduce the chance that the person might transmit a virus with a better than 99% survival rate (for the alpha and delta variations) or a 100% survival rate (for the omicron variation). But the industry hasn't experienced such competitive dynamics. Profits, said Priyadarshi, have gone to share repurchases and paying down debt.
There are several reasons for this, but the main ones are consolidation and high barriers to entry in the industry. Ammunition is difficult to produce, as it requires careful manufacturing processes to safely handle explosive materials. Vista recently bought its competitor Remington out of bankruptcy, lowering the number of firms in the industry that could even build a factory and distribute ammunition effectively. And the limits on capacity were explicit. The head of ammunition for Vista, Jason R. Vanderbrink, explained that the "most important" reason for the Remington acquisition was "added capacity to Vista without increasing the overall market capacity." That's an interesting suggestion. If I draw retirement now, my monthly SS stipend is X until I die. But, if I wait until I'm 70 it's almost 30% more. So I can 'retire' and draw a SS stipend of X while continuing to work until I'm 70 and all I really do is increase my taxable income. Or, I can continue to work until I'm 70 without drawing the SS stipend and then retire and fall back on it atop what my 401k will provide. Seems like math is involved. What is the advantage of drawing the SS stipend at the earliest opportunity? Posted by: CrotchetyOldJarhead at January 08, 2022 07:49 AM (fLri9) 135

We use the following earnings limits to reduce your benefits: If you are under full retirement age for the entire year, we deduct $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit.
For 2021 that limit is $18,960. In the year you reach full retirement age, we deduct $1 in benefits for every $3 you earn above a different limit, but we only count earnings before the month you reach your full retirement age. The unelected Chancellor Karl Nehammer has reduced the Green Passports validity to six months. As a result, millions of citizens who were considered fully vaccinated six months ago are now classified as unvaccinated by the government. The only way to get the document reissued for those who have lost their Green Pass is to receive a booster injection.

ESPN of all places is talking about viral loads and cycle thresholds. Meanwhile, the SCOTUS is making shit up about everything to do with COVID.
https://es.pn/3t6xtOz Just one day after he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was activated off it Friday. Johnson, who leads the team with 1,110 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches on 100 receptions, is a key member of the offense for the Steelers' regular-season finale against the Baltimore Ravens. Under new return-to-play protocols adopted in December, NFL players who are vaccinated and asymptomatic can return to practice and games based on a measure of their viral load, known as the cycle threshold, or CT. That testing can begin as soon as one day after the initial positive. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at January 08, 2022 08:28 AM (Do5/p) 191

When a new strain of coronavirus triggered the COVID-19 pandemic, Hotez and Bottazzi figured they could dust off their old technology and modify it for use against COVID-19. After all, the virus causing COVID-19 and the virus causing SARS are quite similar.
Hotez says they tried to interest government officials in the vaccine, but they weren't impressed. The Kansas State University football cult is very strong around here.
Coach Snyder was a genius, plus a classy person and leader. The new coach can win and is more in touch with the times, which is not an endorsement. Posted by: NaCly Dog (u82oZ) at January 08, 2022 08:56 AM My brother and his family got to experience the cult for a while when he was stationed at Fort Riley about 5-10 years ago. They became defacto Kansas State football and Kansas basketball fans. I first started following Kansas State football in 1998 when Purdue played them in the Alamo Bowl and pulled off the upset. Was my senior year at Purdue. Drew Brees postgame: "Offense can win games, but defense truly wins championships." Not sure what that meant, since there was no championship won, but it sounded good in the moment. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at January 08, 2022 09:04 AM (Do5/p) 251
A satirical social media account ran a series of fictional videos about a fictional boss who asked fictional employees to wear masks during a Zoom meeting because of someone's "fear of unmasked people," Reuters says. The satirical email was taken out of context when it appeared on social media platforms other than the one where it originated, AP says.
https://bit.ly/3r1bR3f Posted by: Clyde Shelton i was asked. once. my response was 'i'm at home, by myself, so no. i shall not mask up for a zoom meeting.' i'm pretty senior in my company, and when i said that, about 15 people snatched their masks off Posted by: BifBewalski @ (IJES/) - at January 08, 2022 09:16 AM (IJES/) 252

Clyde and Bif,
This illustrates the power of social media. Things are taken out of context and broadcast into what people think is mainstream thought. Lemmings. I hope you remember who had their masks on first. They are "good" employees because they will do as they are told by what constitutes authority in their worldview. Posted by: pawn at January 08, 2022 10:38 AM (Cfk8j) 255

get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very web smart so I'm not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Appreciate it Posted by: 5 minute binary options signals at January 16, 2022 09:57 AM (qyXQo) 259
