The Morning Report - 1/7/22

nohardfeelkamala.jpg

Good morning, kids. Friday and the weekend is here. It's almost beyond my capacity to describe the absolute loathing I have for that gibbering, perverted, criminal poseur-in-chief and the forces that installed him in the Oval Office as their front man one year ago. He may be suffering from Biden Spongiform Encephalopathy, but his ability to spew the most hateful venom and blood libels with perfect articulation when propped up in front of a camera is a sight to behold. And behold it we did yesterday, on the anniversary of the January 6 Democrat-staged "riot" that has been used for the past 12 months to demonize any and all opposition to the junta as "insurrectionist."

As infuriating as it was, the whole thing rapidly devolved into a farce.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday incorporated the cast of Hamilton as part of the January 6 remembrance, sparking further mockery that the Democrats are "literally" engaging in "theater."

"To begin the conversation, we're privileged to have a contribution from one of the great creative talents of our time, Lin-Manuel Miranda," Pelosi said.

Let me get this straight; supposedly the worst attack on "our precious democracy" (vomit) than 9/11, the Civil War and the Shoah combined engenders a staged segment from a Broadway show?! Wow. And I think I just found the perfect word to describe Malig-Nancy Pelosi: tacky. Not to be outdone, her partner in the upper chamber Cuck Schemer Schumer used the supposed gravity and solemnity of that infamous day to stand in front of the cemetery like a schneurer and put the bite on the base.

"One year ago today, supporters of former President Trump stormed the U.S. capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of the free and fair 2020 election. Incited by the 'big lie' and disinformation, the insurrectionists tried to overthrow our democracy," Schumer's fundraising email begins. "Five people were killed and countless others injured. It was one of the darkest days in American history."

The DNC's fundraising message begins similarly: "One year ago today, our democracy was attacked. The will of the people was under assault, and our Constitution faced the gravest of threats."

Is it me or has every single friggin' Democrat fundraising letter for the past 40 to 50 years had the exact same message about Republicans? Substitute the names and the issues and there's zero difference. It's Mad Libs. Literally. In any case, it can never be stated loudly or frequently enough that it is axiomatic that everything the left accuses the right of doing or wanting to do is exactly the thing that the left is guilty.

Since at least the time of Woodrow Wilson, political violence has been the sole purview of the anti-American, totalitarian progressive movement which has sought our destruction. At this point, a little over a century later, they've achieved the first part - the overthrow of our government. Now comes the fun part; the evisceration of any sort of real checks and balances, the imposition of a thoroughly unconstitutional bureaucracy that has complete control of virtually every aspect of our lives, a rubber stamp judiciary to declare the latter's edicts kosher (soon to be "halal") and the corruption of academia, the media and much of the private sector into an arm of enforcement that is equally and potentially even more dangerous than a feral government.

Thing of it is, after a year of the most disastrous domestic and foreign policy failures in our now ended history, much of the audience that yesterday's Pelosi's Bialystock & Bloom shit-show, along with the equally useless kangaroo court committee, is not only tuning out but fleeing for the exits. After endless lockdowns and forcible injections for General Tso's Sickness, crime being decriminalized and destroying whole swathes of business districts, drag-queen rapists unleashed in girls' restrooms, forcible mind raping of children with Jive Kampf crackpot race theory, inflation running wild, wide open borders and on and on and on, blue-state America is depopulating at warp speed. And there are indications that unlike the past, those fleeing are not taking their voting habits with them.

That does not bode well for the Democrats come the midterms this November. Dao-Min Yen and election rigging notwithstanding, they are in for a massive drubbing. Not that the GOP taking over either or both chambers would matter much given the nature of that party to do nothing more than kabuki/bukkake theater in terms of opposing the Democrat agenda. But at least things will be short-circuited for two years. And come 2024, it's a presidential election that's at stake. And that is what this garbage is really all about. To prevent Trump, or a candidate in the Trump mold like DeSantis from winning. But in the main, it is a vendetta against Trump. The fact that, for whatever they're worth this far out, he's leading in the polling also is a factor. And speaking of the utter uselessness of the GOP, Ted Cruz tried to do the moonwalk on TuCa's show last night, and failed.

"You never use words carelessly and yet you called this a terror attack when by no definition was it a terror attack. That's a lie. You told that lie on purpose and I'm wondering why you did," Carlson said.

"The way I phrased things yesterday, it was sloppy and it was frankly dumb - - " Cruz said.

Carlson interrupted saying he does "not buy" the senator's explanation, believing that he intentionally used the word "terrorist" to describe the riot.

"So, Tucker, as a result of my sloppy phrasing, it's caused a lot of people to misunderstand what I meant," the senator said. "Let me tell you what I meant to say. What I was referring to are the limited number of people who engaged in violent attacks against police officers. I think you and I both agree that if you assault a police officer, you should go to jail. . ."

. . . Carlson said the senator's use of the word "terrorist" is "playing into" the left's ability to characterize the rioters as "foreign combatants." The Texas senator told Carlson he has "repeatedly denounced" terms such as "insurrection" to describe the riot and is fighting against Democrats' alleged attempts to depict Republicans as "Nazis. . ."

. . . In the days following the riot, [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden referred to the Jan. 6 rioters as "domestic terrorists" in a Jan. 8 statement. FBI Director Christopher Wray also labeled the riot as "domestic terrorism" at a Mar. 2 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Alan Dershowitz once described Ted Cruz as far and away the smartest student he ever had at Harvard Law. What Cruz said was not "dumb" in the sense that it was a gaffe as he claims. He knew exactly what he was saying when he said it. I am done with him and I am done with the entire GOP. But considering the state of the union - DEAD - does it really matter? Even if Dao-Min Yen is not a factor this November and two years from now and by some miracle we do win back both chambers of congress and the Oval Office, does anyone believe that the party of McConnell, Ryan and Romney will do one friggin' thing to stop let alone reverse what has been done since 2021, let alone since 1933? And even if we had a Congress and Oval Office full of Trumps, does anyone believe that the combined bureaucracy - especially the intel community and military will allow that?

Look what they did in the run-up to 2020. They "fortified" the election by running an "orange revolution" to sabotage voting security (such as it was) and then literally do a massive ballot dump on election night. And never forget that while the Democrats stabbed us in the back, it was the GOP that twisted the knife on January 6th and before.

Look at what Australia is doing to its people. Not China, not Cuba, not Iran. Australia. Hell, look at what they're doing to an internationally renowned sports figure like Novak Djokavic. After everything we have been through these past two to five years, and really decades before that if you really take a close look at things, do you think these fiends are going to let an election stand in their way of getting what they want?

Worst of all, we still have a sizable number of people in this country that not only disagree with us on issues, but view us and the country itself as the issue: an evil to be eradicated. I ask, yet again, how is any kind of reconciliation even remotely possible?

Have a great weekend.

It's literally the only hope for Normalistan. If those fleeing Big Blue are refugees who seek to understand and integrate into the places to which they are moving, it will likely be okay. A "national divorce" kind of thing in essence if not in fact.

If, however, those fleeing are colonists who seek greener pastures but then want to show the natives the righteousness of the same shit that ruined their homelands, there will be fairly few islands of sanity left on this continent.

Remember Hillary's purple outfit and Bill's purple tie when she finally made her "concession" speech. Also, Hillary, Michelle O., and Kamala all wore purple dresses at Joe's inauguration and Bill, Obama and George W. all had purple ties. There were others that I can't remember at the moment.

And trust me, it wasn't about bipartisanship...democrats are never about bipartisanship.

61 I have two thoughts on the the prenatal DNA article. First:
An examination by the New York Times has found that 85 percent of prenatal blood tests for rare chromosomal disorders provided false positive results to expectant mothers. On average, only 15 out of every 85 tests came back with accurate information on their child's genetic make-up.

How did they determine this? Retesting? What makes retesting any more accurate? Is it examination of the babies that weren't aborted, only to find that the feared birth defect isn't there? How did they determine the inaccuracy rate? Assuming it's true, why do people use them?
Many doctors are unaware of how many false positives are found by the companies in question. Either that, or many doctors choose not to tell their patients that the test results are almost always wrong.

Oh. So assuming that's true, why are doctors signing off on something about which they know nothing, or which they know to be inaccurate?

84 Also from the prenatal DNA article:
A study from 2014 found that six percent of expectant mothers who tested positive for a DNA disorder obtained an abortion. The Times also quoted a Boston Globe article in which a local doctor described performing three abortions following false positive results.

I am surprised it's that low, which indicates to me that a lot of parents may well know that the tests are crap. But if not, then that 6% will likely only rise over time as testing becomes more common. And if that happens, our odds of learning how to treat people with those conditions or improve their lives will fall mightily. I know a couple that had a baby with a genetic defect. The doctors could barely discuss what to expect or odds, because babies with that condition are almost always aborted.

With genetic-based abortion, we're generally left with little idea of how to manage the problems or even what problems to expect with regard to birth defects. Morality aside, that's a practical consequence of aborting children with a defect. Morally, it's made even worse if the defect doesn't exist.

108 (1/2)
Increasingly, younger Americans view socialism more favorably than capitalism. According to a 2020 Victims of Communism Memorial poll, 49 percent of Gen Z has a favorable view of socialism. Just 52 percent of Gen Z supports capitalism, according to the same poll.
Meanwhile, 35 percent of Millennials and 31 percent of Gen Z support eliminating the capitalist system in favor of a more socialist system.

++++
Two problems there, I think. First, one should *not* lump the Millennial and Z generations together. They are quite different. The Millennials (one of which I, sadly, I am) are almost uniformly left-wing. The Zoomers are more bifurcated. The two groups should always be broken out. They do for these particular stats, but not always throughout the article. That's sloppy and makes understanding harder.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at January 07, 2022 08:08 AM (DU+/6)

109 (2/2)
Second, most folks don't examine multiple sides of the argument. They poll on socialism or capitalism, but not on monarchy or strong-man dictatorship. They're stuck in a false binary, and it will matter. While the Millenials are quite leftist, the Zs are more interesting. The "right-wing" Zs are admirably anticommunist, but they are not traditionally conservative and will not restore the Republic if they win.

I generally expect that whatever war is brewing is going to be faught amongst the Zs or Millennials and Zs. And if the "right wing" side of that wins, it will be a defeat for modern collectivism and POstmodernism, but I think it will also likely be non-republican (small "R"). If anything, I would bet on a form of neo-monarchy or dictatorship coming out the other side.

On that, I am not so sure. It depends entirely on which faction owns which judges. Thomas doesn't appear to be owned. Alito is likely unowned, or perhaps he's just catastrophically expensive. The rest are bought and paid for. How these cases will go depends entirely on which faction is pulling their strings. If the "COVID Forever" faction has their hands on the controls, the mandates will be upheld. If it's the "COVID is Over" faction, mandates will be dust in the wind.

130 Watched that cringe-worthy Tucker Carlson interview with Ted Cruz this a.m. Cruz looked like an idiot. WTF is that guy doing? Has he been taking PR advice from his woke teen daughter?

Maybe not from his daughter, but he is getting really bad advice. Last time he ran for election in Texas for the Federal Senate seat, he was blathering on improving teacher pay.

I know that the Federal Department of Edjumukashun" has had a lot of influence in local school districts, but pay certainly was not one of them. My thoughts about Ted's stupidity in making that campaign pledge:
* Most parents that he trying to appeal to hate their public schools, the high taxes and the terrible excuse of teaching and want school choice.
* If Ted wants to negotiate teacher pay, he either intends to federalize local schooling, or he should run for the local school board.

So he is listening to stupid people, or he wants to socialize and centralize schooling including salary control on teachers as a collective.

Either case makes him a fool. So much for a Harvard Education.

131 My understanding of the democrat plans is that they intend to use their hearings to disallow multiple republicans, that they will accuse of insurrection, from standing for election in November. All valid points, but it's also a broader problem than the vax mandates. It's been about two years since most companies sent the laptop class home. About half of them don't want to go back to the office. If the companies mandate an office return, at least a third of that group will probably jump ship and go to a different company. The vax mandate isn't helping, but they accidentally caused a secular shift in worker preferences and that will be *very* difficult to overcome. The problems you outlined will be here persistently regardless of what SCOTUS says.

How many stories have their been, even in MSM sites like CNN, about how the vaccine doesn't stop people from getting infected or spreading the virus. 194 The picture up top reminds me of a little anecdote about the way of war and some of its odd sideshows. When we defeated Japan and were preparing to accept the surrender, the British wanted desperately to be a part of it. They were quite active - albeit as a decidedly secondary campaign - in the Pacific theater. They whipped Japanese ass across South and Southeast Asia, and fought bravely and with great grit and innovation in Burma and Malaya. From the Naval standpoint, they tried their best but just couldn't keep up with the US Navy. No one could. Their steel-decked carriers ended up being a lot less susceptible to Kamikaze, though, and they did well when they could actually get there and keep up.

Anyway, the Brits gave us an heirloom desk to accept the surrender. A beautiful, valuable piece of furniture in a nice symbolic gesture. It was transferred to the Missouri - and then not used simply because it wasn't big enough. They hauled out a mess table instead.

Aside to the aside: After the ceremony, our copy of the treaty was just left under a paperweight until someone could be bothered to collect and secure it. It didn't matter. We had won, without question.

My mail carrier is great. So is my local post office. My regional sort is quite good, too - shit never gets lost or delayed for days on end there. The USPS is highly local. The network is what it is and there are big regional sorts that aren't great (Atlanta and Pittsburgh come immediately to mind) but the locals are anywhere from great to miserable. Where I used to live, it was miserable. Slow, unreliable, rude carriers, etc. Where I live now, they're great and efficient and friendly and take their jobs seriously. It was refreshing.

re: fetal testing for rare genetic abnormalities.

The issue is considerably more complex than the linked article would have you believe. Clicking back to find the source article leads to the NYT (paywall) so I can't comment on that.

I agree with you that there are morality issues, driven by a societal longing for risk-free outcomes and perfect babies. Fortunately, in my experience, the vast majority of families that I dealt with, when discussing life-threatening conditions prior to birth chose to err on the side of giving the baby every reasonable chance, and only very rarely opting for abortion.

One thing many don't understand is that whenever you do a screening test for a condition that is extremely rare, the proportion of false positives goes up. You must consider the prevalence of the condition in the population.

Generally the preliminary testing, if positive, prompts the need for confirmatory testing and counseling, which can put families through the wringer of uncertainty.

Yes, non-citizens can work for the FedGov as long as it is not a position that requires a US Citizen on US Soil (usually those positions are related to defense or security).

There was a disclaimer that due to supply and labor shortages, the restaurant may at any time not be able to provide all menu items, or may forbid or mandate substitutions, or might have reduced seating, or might eliminate in-restaurant service entirely and go to pickup only.

Not that weird in Current Year all things considered, but what stood out was how the disclaimer was handled. It was printed directly on the menu. Under the lamination. It was just included in the copy the last time they reprinted the menus. Waffle House, at least, is clearly assuming that this is just the way things work now and will work that way for the foreseeable future.

That's really a pretty common decision by expectant mothers, in my experience. As I said above, it's "Let's give the baby every possible chance."

Eh, a week or maybe two might be reasonable. It all has to be collected and packaged, which will take some time. But eight months sounds like an arbitrary and weird duration.

That will put it at August, assuming it isn't reversed. That smells political to me. The FDA now has to make some hard choices depending on whether those data say good or bad things. If they say good things, waiting until the deadline is the smart play, since that is when the campaigning will be reaching full speed. If they say bad things, releasing ASAP would be the smart play, with the hopes that it gets buried and forgotten before campaign season heats up. Or take the third way and bank everything on getting the decision reversed so they don't have to release at all.

Their executives are probably sweating.

Makes me afraid for the safety of anyone who has to serve with her, and she must also be worried, because she knows she shouldn't be in the job.

Just as MIT's data science lab advocated in the undergraduate paper (that the department signed off on) about COVID data. Armchair statisticians and data science hobbyists do surprisingly good work. Their surprisingly good work is also counter-narrative. The best solution to the problem is to release less data to the public, to prevent them from questioning their betters.

I'm not kidding. That was the argument in a nutshell.

In theory if SCOTUS approves the clot shot mandates they have to overturn a lot of other things - for example Roe v Wade.

If they approve the mandate - and it comes down to Kavanaugh and Barrett I think - they'll just ignore everything else and pretend it is unrelated.

There are 4 that will vote for it - the leftists and Epstein Island boy, and 3 that will oppose. So Kavanaugh and Barrett understand the fire they are playing with? I guess we will see.

It may be an extreme example, but it's decreasingly uncommon. In my industry (high tech), there is a huge push for more "women in technology" and to increase female hiring. A lot of firms have quotas on it. Any remotely-competent woman gets preference in hiring.

Here's the problem: there aren't enough remotely competent female applicants, and the burn-out rate is high. Women resign from tech more often and more frequently than men. At my last company, they had major HR programs in the recruitment group to target women who left tech to get them back and re-enter the industry. They were at least not totally green, and had better odds of being hired as a result. Getting women who were in the industry but resigned back into the industry (and my company) was an objective and there was a lot of money and preferential policy behind it.

316 All valid points, but it's also a broader problem than the vax mandates.

No kidding. I live in the greater ATX area and $200k+ jobs are all over the place. Many are now saying 100% REMOTE in order to lure in talent.

I have zero reason to stay in Sodom and Gomorrah here and have the services of a real-estate agent to locate and acquire lake-front property with broadband where I intend to make my permanent office. I have several possibilities with gigabit speeds at the door.

We are the problem, not the Republican Party. Either people forget or do not know the history of the party and its relationship with conservatives/conservatism.Even worse the Repubs co-opted the word and conservatives are blamed for the GOP's bullshit. Many believe Trump has exposed them. If you've paid attention and know their history, this is nothing new. The problem now isn't an opposition party. You've heard the saying, if you want something done right, you'll have to do it yourself. We have to accept that no legitimate political opposition exists except maybe 4-5 people under the Repub banner. This means if you want some sort of opposition and your voice be heard you will have to do it yourself through peaceful protest marching on Washington or capital buildings in states. Of course thats if your ok with being infiltrated by the FBI and painted as a terrorist group then possibly rotting in jail like the J6 people.

"Citizenship" is essentially an American concept. It's a legal status everywhere, but in terms of what it *means* it is fairly rare in other places. Being a subject is the norm.

It's far worse than that. Sadly, it also doesn't matter. The reality is that the US middle class, besieged as it is, has it better than most of the Party elite did in those places. But it's all relative, and that's the key. They want to be *wildly* better off than you, not only marginally better off. They have more toys and bigger houses and don't worry about making the bills this month and that's all great, but they aren't better by right of their positions, and not by enough. You have a television and a car and a house, too. You eat, too. Your kids can play a musical instrument, too. You have clean water and electricity on demand, too.

The gap isn't nearly big enough, and the relative position is more important than the absolute position. They don't want to be rich nearly as much as they want *you* to be desperately poor. The attitude is much more along the lines of "it doesn't matter how shitty the hill is, so long as I am king of it."

"Hamilton" is already not sufficiently woke enough for them, because it "glorifies slaveholders".

Worse, the Left is encouraged by that quip and respond with "OH!! That is how you get them to do that".

As I have observed before, following Francis Schaeffer's "Line of Despair" paradigm, Hollywood often reveals where politics, society and later the church are heading. A very common tell is their deep desire for a Svengali effect on other people. Many movie plot lines involve powerful people using various means to seduce/manipulate people into committing heinous acts.

I believe these cowards deeply desire an evil Jedi mind manipulation ability to stand back and let cardboard cut-outs perform the atrocities that is their will.

The songs are fine, Bruno being the best probably.

But the dramatic resolution is about...getting a hug from her sister? And then it doesn't actually change anything because the core problem is that her grandmother doesn't love her enough?

433 The "elites" absolutely hated the Trump Rallies where huge enthusiastic masses of people went out in public and showed support for populism. One of the components of the Jan 6 op was to put the idea in regular people's heads that attending such rallies was "unsafe" as you could never be sure what sort of thing could be engineered to happen and you could possibly be one of the unlucky people targeted to spend a year or more in confinement on apparently a near random basis. It is just as risky to show up as to show up and do something wildly illegal and provocative.

Then they tell you its all gone wrong and you are going to have a kid with downs or whatever the problem is and you then develop an negative expectation. In either case, your expectation is baseless. Its a total crap shoot every time. Even if you kid is totes "normal". Every human person is a work in progress, and nobody knows how its going to turn out for that person. Nobody. I think the core problem was that Abuela's expectations of perfection were too high. The "hug" wasn't from the sister (they misinterpreted Bruno's prophecy, but from the Abeula (shown younger in the prophecy)), effectively, Abuela's recognition that she was destroying the family by putting pressure on everyone to be perfect.

They never resolved why the main character (I forget her name) never had powers.

It's a common theme of the old need to recognize the concerns of the young.

No, it's exactly the message they want to send. Pelosi included that officer in her list of "casualties" as well. They realize they have a problem with the numbers - They murdered 2 people that day, and none of their "heroes" died. That makes the day look a lot less like 9/11, and a lot more like Kent State. So they start repeating a lie about 4 officers who died fighting THE INSURRECTION, and then they just repeat the lie over and over.

It is. There is still the question of "why do we no longer actively learn or teach about it?" That's a question I don't know how to answer. I *suspect* that there are two big factors, but I am not sure. First, it wouldn't surprise me if the big shot-callers want to hold the strategy in reserve and don't want to impede its implementation should they go down that road. Who knows.

Second, it's incredibly uncomfortable and discomforting because of its implications, which are essentially what you laid out. If you're being honest in such a study or lesson, you must ask yourself some questions and among those will be "why did people participate in that" and "would I participate in something like that?" That's a brutal bit of introspection.

Gotta wonder what the polling results would be if a simple multiple choice question were asked of the American public: "The USA is a 1-Democracy, 2-Republic". Even worse would be a follow-up question to find out if people knew the definitions for "democracy" and "republic".
