Ted Cruz Calls January 6 Riots "A Violent Terrorist Attack on the Capitol"

Ohhh. So that's why so many of you guys always hated Ted Cruz and thought he was an inauthentic poser.

Apparently Ted Cruz thinks his core constituency is... NeverTrump. The people who hate him almost as much as Donald Trump, and who refused to rally around him to stop Trump, preferring Hillary Clinton over him.

Cruz recently told us that he was in the catbird seat to run for president, and would do so "in a heartbeat."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he would "absolutely" consider running for president in 2024, arguing he was in a good position to win the race because he was the runner-up for the Republican nomination in 2016.

"Absolutely. In a heartbeat," Cruz told The Truth Gazette on Wednesday when asked whether he would consider a run in 2024. "There's a reason historically that the runner-up is almost always the next nominee."

And now... and now.

Yossi Gestetner
@YossiGestetner

The minute you call it a "violent terrorist attack on the capitol," you lose most of your standing when complaining about the DOJ, Dems and Media because they have diff views than you how to handle a "violent terrorist attack on the capitol."

Ted Cruz: "We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the capitol."

"It is also worth asking ... What could have prevented the breach of the Capitol? What could have prevented the riot getting as far as it did?"

Cruz, the "fighter."

He called now Jan 6th "a violent terrorist attack on the capitol."

Hahaha.

GOP - Group of Putzes.

It's not @LeaderMcConnell or @GOPLeader. It's the fabric of the party.

He didn't mention BLM or the insurrection at the WH last year that forced a POTUS into the bunker and wounded 60 USSS staff.

The GOP is a systemic clown show.

Cruz accepts the narrative that lawmakers were about to be lynched despite the fact that many hundreds calmly walked in the Capitol taking selfies and not moving rope lines. It was mostly calm where PD was not at hand.

Bloodthirsty terrorists leaving things mostly neat? Haha.

It's very possible that Ted Cruz used this language to help bury Trump for 2024 since @tedcruz sees himself as next in line for the nomination. However, as 2008 and 2012 has shown, Dems always use former "bad" Republicans as a stick against current ones, for example:

Bush didn't show up to the 2008 convention (due to a hurricane, sure, totally), and was not a factor at the 2012 convention, but Obama/Biden used Bush against Romney.

Disowning fellow GOPs with Dem narratives harms GOPs.

Besides, Cruz is blamed by many Dems for 1/6/21.

But I'm sure AllahPundit and Bill Kristol will give him a second look now.

15 Gotta lose the primary to win the general ace. You just don't understand Jeb Cruz's strategy here.
Posted by: Red Turban Someguy - The Republic is already dead!

I guess his idea is that the Trump vote is owned by Trump and if, for some reason, Trump doesn't run, DeSantis owns it.

So he's making a new lane for himself of Not Trump. Like, for "moderates" or something.

Except those people loathe him.

Way to triangulate, Genius.

To Cruz's credit, he's the only major candidate that did. The deal is that if the party supports you, you support the nominee. They all signed that contract with the RNC that they would back the candidate. Many of them didn't do so, and Cruz is the only one I know of that made anything more than a desultory technical effort. He hit the bricks, manned phone banks, sent letters to his supporters, etc. He held up his end of the bargain.

Doesn't make him right on this and it doesn't mean that getting this so very wrong and also so vocally doesn't put a cloud over him.

Weird nihilism. Because lots of you were fooled by Ted Cruz, every politician will prove to be his equal. The same can be said of Yossi Gestalt up there--obvious snake Ted Cruz bit me, so the GOP sucks. Vote for some tiny third party, because ... handing victory to losers like Rafael Warnock, Jon Ossoff, and Stacy Abrams will improve the nation.

Brian Kemp might be worthless, but he was the first governor to refuse to shut down the state, and Trump savaged him for it. Ratsh*tsburger and Kemp should be replaced by decent republicans in primaries this year, but if they are not, keeping lunatic Abrams and whatever Soros AG candidate far from office should be enough to spend the hour of your time to at least force them to work hard to steal an election.

Trump supporting the "vaccine" doesn't bother me one bit. He's not supporting mandates, or forcing it on kids. A lot of people who are a hell of a lot smarter than I am think the mRNA is fantastic. These same folks aren't insisting that the unvaxxed are a threat to anybody, nor support showing your papers. I'd have a totally different take if Trump was supporting company mandates, happy camps or any of the other shit the left is salivating over. I'll take possibly misguided intentions over purposeful lying and evil/corrupt purposes any day.

Trump was what he was because of his ego. A lot of people here don't like his ego. I love his ego - his ego is what keeps him from being a puppet like all the rest.

In J6, how come no one ever asks how many guns or bombs were found, or how many fires were started? They don't ask the easy questions because to answer them would be to give the game away.
Better to leave everything vague, and let the TDS sufferers in and out of government fill in the blanks.

357 In the riots of 2020 hundreds of businesses were burned, thousands of cops were injured, and a dozen and a half people were killed. All which were encouraged and defended by politicians at state and federal levels.

Where's the commission on that? Where are the stentorian denunciations of the BLM/antifa brigades? Where's the FBI/DOJ investigation of the coordination and funding of that violent wave?

One two-hour 'riot' is somehow a threat to our 'democracy' and not the country-wide spasm of leftist violence?

Every single business that was torched in 2020 is worth more than the entirety of WashDC. This worship of that swamp by our pseudo-elite is disgusting and vile, to say nothing of those that call themselves Christian and do the same.

I still think Cruz is better than his Texas Senate Primary opponents and that snake Cornyn.

Still, this was a dumb thing to say and it should cost Cruz any chance in a national primary. I know a few big Republicans fundraisers were part of the Jan. 6th march, and while they stayed away from the Capitol that day, they know Dems would be happy to after them as well. This is something I've always said. How do we know the Capitol Police and the FBI and whatever didn't tell them that they ALL came within an inch of assassination? I bet most of Congress has NO IDEA what was REALLY going on outside the chambers.

Let's say you were in your office or home and all of a sudden your body guards whisked you away , wordlessly, to a safe room and kept you there for a period of time. You have no idea why or what's going on.

Then they set you free saying, "The danger has passed, but we got you out of harm's way, and your safe now.

Wouldn't you believe them?

510 As for Trump, last I heard he'd cancelled the press conference he'd planned to give on January 6. Real profile in courage there.
--------------------------------------
At Insty's... Related: Trump Just Rained on the Democrats' January 6th Parade. "It seems like Trump realized that, as he cites the machinations of the January 6th committee as the reason for his cancellation. Whatever the reason, it's a smart move on his part to deny them the viral clips and talking points they were banking on. I'm sure he and his advisers sat down and figured out what the game was here and chose not to play along. Now, what do the Democrats have? Some low-rated CNN coverage and a short speech from Joe Biden that no one will watch unless he has another senile moment that causes it to go viral. And that's if the iced-up roads in the city of Washington, D.C., are even cleared in time for them to hold any live events. As it stands, it might snow again on Thursday."

See, I have access to social media and websites that don't fall into line with Big Tech and the Left (BIRM). And I'm guessing they do as well.

I understand them wanting to give the Capitol Police the benefit of the doubt, and maybe not every single member of said Police is a Michael Byrd. But they should have done some digging to find out what did happen, and then confronted this "insurrection" narrative at every turn.

But, let's say there was an actual terror attack on DC. A bad one. Like, a dirty bomb at the Capitol or something of that magnitude. And let's say it was done by someone I really hate. Islamists, or Antifa, or the NEA or whatever.

Phone into the Michael Berry Show, an AM radio, Houston based morning & afternoon talk show, carried on some dozen or more stations, covering a wide U.S. area.

Michael Berry Show, AM Radio 740, KTRH Houston, TX 8am to 11am, *and* 5pm to 7pm, daily. The afternoon segments have the wider, semi-National coverages, BTW. 713-212-5740. Mr. Berry and Mr. Cruz are close friends, and have been such since their law-school days. 572 That's a shame. I was a Ted Cruz guy in 2016, and still think he would have gotten the nod if that knuckle-head Kasich would have bowed out when he was mathematically eliminated. I grew to love Trump and his message, but held out hope for the Cruzer as the next deliverer of that message (and with the eloquence to take it to the next level). This is like a punch in the stomach.

624 Although I supported Cruz in 2016, I doubt he is electable and will back DeSantis in 2024. That said, it's easy to exaggerate this recent statement's significance.

Cruz has long called the 1/6 protestors terrorists, even while opposing the formation of Pelosi's commission.

Contrarily, he was in a lot of trouble with folks calling for his resignation right after the riots because of his role in opposing electoral certification.

He has not been soft on this issue--as his opposition to electoral certification and the 1/6 commission show. He has, however, given rhetorical lip service that has also equated these protests with the Democratic versions. In context, he was addressing a law enforcement group and currying their favor.

In short, I do not believe this was an effort of triangulation on his part. Rather, his opponents are bringing it up to damage him on his right flank. All well and good in the political scrum, but it's not a significant departure from his previous stance.

626 555 If you want to get a solid and relatively immediate message to Ted Cruz, then it's this simple, and this difficult, both.

Be polite to the call screener, be clear and articulate, and strive to get On The Air, and not just some rando blowhard that the screener rejects out of hand.

The sad part is that there are political prisoners being held and no one will speak up for them.

I like Ted Cruz, but I wonder what his father thinks of him at this point. I've heard the man speak, and he speaks passionately about freedom and the political persecution in Cuba that they left.

My prayers continue to be with the political prisoners locked up. My vote and campaign dollars will continue to remain in my pocket. I know we are supposed to vote against Democrats, but it's hard to think about fellows citizens stripped naked and put through reprogramming techniques while Republicans not only do nothing, but actually speak out in favor of the narrative used to justify their torture.

649 301 264 >>> Pope criticizes couples who adopt pets instead of children: 'a form of selfishness'

Title slightly misleading, it's adopting pets instead of having children, not adopting pets instead of adopting children.

Well in our household, it's the cats who have adopted us. So there!

650 F*ck Ted Cruz

Say it with me. Chant it in stadiums. Buy the stickers on Amazon. Add a new line to the LGB store. We can make this happen. Down with the uniParty. They R and D are the terrorists.

651 Cruz walked right in and joined Mike Pence and Nikki Halley in the "I thought I could pick up the pieces" crowd.

652 I was also a fan of Ted.

Dead to me now.

So I'm now down to only two votes in my life I've cast that don't make me throw up in my mouth a little remembering them, Fred Thompson and Donald Trump. And hate to say it, but I'm 50/50 on Trump at this point.

One thing our side has to stop doing is letting our enemies pick our leaders just by attacking them. That the Left attacks someone on our side does NOT make them our friend. The Left frequently attacks their moles on our side precisely so we support them. Think McCain, Romney and especially Bush.

653 338 Just to clarify my above comment.

Trump was what he was because of his ego. A lot of people hated him because of that, but his ego is also what prevented him from caving to the backroom power brokers who told him he had to back off on immigration or lose all RNC support, or he had to keep pouring trillions into Astan or lose MIC (military industrial complex) support,....

A lot of people here don't like his ego. I love his ego - his ego is what keeps him from being a puppet like all the rest.

What you said.

654 So would you rather see Ted Cruz expelled from the Senate? Because that's what the Democrats are calling for because he challenged the Electoral College vote certification, and Vichy Mitchy, Mittens, etc. will be happy to back them up if he gives them an excuse.

655 " DeepState went to Cruz as 2016 election approached. "

Illiniwek, I'm assuming you're just uninformed:

"
Dole, a former Kansas senator, was the Republican Party's presidential nominee in 1996.

Donald Trump would "probably work with Congress," though, Dole mused, because he's "kind of a deal maker."

Dole characterized Cruz as an "extremist" unwilling to work with his own party."

656
Can we at least agree in 2023/2024 that we all FLAME for eternity all the lame posters here pushing for Cruz?

Posted by: Sapwolf at January 05, 2022 05:00 PM (etPhZ)

657 Wow! What a weasel. Ted's time is up.......

658 Lyin' Ted's gonna do Ted shite.

659 24 DeSantis, Trump or stay home. That's 2024 for me.
I'll take MTG and Gosar for the win.

660 I'm not voting in the midterms. #uck the GOP. Lets see what 2 more years of fascism can do.

661 Let's Go Ted Cruz!

... Is that considered hate speech?

Posted by: Another Anon at January 05, 2022 06:33 PM (bW28E)

662 FTC, FJB, FGOPe RINO whores.

Bannon is right. Nobody is coming to save us. We have to save ourselves. GOP precinct chair effort is where we can make a difference, get MAGA nominees and then get them elected.

663 Never trusted the Cruz, he's a reptile and slimy just like little Marco Rubio. Prostitutes, all of them...

Posted by: legioinvictus at January 05, 2022 07:42 PM (gYXiq)

664 some of us. other of us were all in on Cruz bandwagon and fought bitterly for his "good name".
Posted by: runner at January 05, 2022 01:30 PM (V13WU)

one of them was me, I was wrong.

Cruz is just another poser, like Crenshaw

Posted by: Shoey77 at January 05, 2022 09:56 PM (fcWVN)

665 Cruz was saying this in the immediate aftermath of Jan 6th, it turned my stomach then and still does now. Not because i think he believes it but because it is a calculated statement to try and make him seem more moderate. I'll never vote for Cruz for his repeatedly calling Jan 6th a terrorist attack.
