Cruz recently told us that he was in the catbird seat to run for president, and would do so "in a heartbeat."

It was mostly calm where PD was not at hand. Bloodthirsty terrorists leaving things mostly neat? Haha. It's very possible that Ted Cruz used this language to help bury Trump for 2024 since @tedcruz sees himself as next in line for the nomination. However, as 2008 and 2012 has shown, Dems always use former "bad" Republicans as a stick against current ones, for example: Bush didn't show up to the 2008 convention (due to a hurricane, sure, totally), and was not a factor at the 2012 convention, but Obama/Biden used Bush against Romney. Disowning fellow GOPs with Dem narratives harms GOPs. Besides, Cruz is blamed by many Dems for 1/6/21.

To Cruz's credit, he's the only major candidate that did. The deal is that if the party supports you, you support the nominee. They all signed that contract with the RNC that they would back the candidate. Many of them didn't do so, and Cruz is the only one I know of that made anything more than a desultory technical effort. He hit the bricks, manned phone banks, sent letters to his supporters, etc. He held up his end of the bargain.
Doesn't make him right on this and it doesn't mean that getting this so very wrong and also so vocally doesn't put a cloud over him.

See, I have access to social media and websites that don't fall into line with Big Tech and the Left (BIRM). And I'm guessing they do as well.

I was one of those fools who voted for Cruz in the primary against Trump. Saw the error of my ways, however. Thought Cruz was an idiot for not taking Trump's offer of a SCOTUS seat, because he was never going to be POTUS, and he's damaged goods in TX if Bobby O'Rourke made it even close.
And then there were only two. DeathSantis and GEPOTUS.

This is a good season, maybe the best.
But, I think they need to wrap this up next season.
Chaos reigns but all the plot loops stand a chance of closing nicely if the writers perform their jobs and the producers and stars don't get greedy and fuck up their own series (Hellooooooo, Game of Thrones!!!!)

Cruz has long called the 1/6 protestors terrorists, even while opposing the formation of Pelosi's commission.
Contrarily, he was in a lot of trouble with folks calling for his resignation right after the riots because of his role in opposing electoral certification.
He has not been soft on this issue--as his opposition to electoral certification and the 1/6 commission show. He has, however, given rhetorical lip service that has also equated these protests with the Democratic versions. In context, he was addressing a law enforcement group and currying their favor.
In short, I do not believe this was an effort of triangulation on his part. Rather, his opponents are bringing it up to damage him on his right flank. All well and good in the political scrum, but it's not a significant departure from his previous stance.

The sad part is that there are political prisoners being held and no one will speak up for them.
I like Ted Cruz, but I wonder what his father thinks of him at this point. I've heard the man speak, and he speaks passionately about freedom and the political persecution in Cuba that they left.
My prayers continue to be with the political prisoners locked up. My vote and campaign dollars will continue to remain in my pocket. I know we are supposed to vote against Democrats, but it's hard to think about fellows citizens stripped naked and put through reprogramming techniques while Republicans not only do nothing, but actually speak out in favor of the narrative used to justify their torture.

A lot of people hated him because of that, but his ego is also what prevented him from caving to the backroom power brokers who told him he had to back off on immigration or lose all RNC support, or he had to keep pouring trillions into Astan or lose MIC (military industrial complex) support,....
