The Morning Report - 12/30/21

natdivortinaike.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and the penultimate day of Year Zero Plus 1. The ghost of undead America Past is shambling its way into a midterm election year, going through the usual motions of trying to stop an avalanche of totalitarian madness via the usual processes and traditions yet not quite realizing that we have passed into an alien realm where none of that counts for much, if anything. In truth, it's not alien since we have watched it grind millions of people into a mass grave in other countries and either thanked our lucky stars it wasn't us or shrugged our shoulders and declared it a local crime story. All the while, we were blissfully unaware of the slow, creeping rot consuming us from within or, worse, aware of it and living in the proverbial "river in Egypt."

But here we are, with an illegitimate junta that can, will and has used the instrumentalities of government to crush all voices of dissent and, more alarmingly, those who support it from outside the government that will act as its unofficial Gestapo, eager to impose its will on family, friends, neighbors and colleagues not down with the program. I've stated it before but it's worth repeating; while elections (free or otherwise) have consequences, what good is winning them if a) the party known as the GOP will do nothing except at best act as seat warmers for the anti-Americans and worse b) a sizable chunk of the population is in effect an enemy foreign camp that at one time shared a common past with us, but has renounced and denounced it to a point where it views the rest of us who want to preserve it as an evil that must be eradicated?

How does one find common ground with such a mindset? The answer, of course, is you can't.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene renewed calls for a "national divorce" between red and blue states, arguing that Americans who move to conservative states from California and New York should have a "cooling off" period before they are allowed to vote.

The outspoken GOP congresswoman tweeted her comment Wednesday in response to a thread from a man who said he was moving from the San Francisco Bay area to Miami, and was wary about Florida politics.

Greene, 47, agreed with a Twitter user who supported "discriminating against transplants" by imposing a "sin" tax on them and banning them from the polls "for a period."

"All possible in a National Divorce scenario," Greene wrote. "After Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida. Brainwashed people that move from CA and NY really need a cooling off period."

Say what you will about Greene but she is not wrong. Of course, what is missing from this article is the rationale behind the call for a separation, which I have attempted to do above. Critics blasted Greene and slimed her by declaring she is calling for a hot civil war. In fact, she is calling for just the opposite. A separation and division, regardless of the practicalities of how that is achieved, is what is required to prevent bloodshed. The fact is it is the Left and those who are allegedly its leaders in politics, the media and academia that have been the loudest proponents of eliminationist rhetoric since the Trump era and before it. It is we who have been on the receiving end of it, from hate shakes, to Molotov cocktails to mass shootings of politicians and on and on and on. Yet when we protest, our speech is violence.

The hard truth is I don't think a national divorce, even if it were to come about, would work in the long run. Within months, Blue America would devolve into Snake Plissken Land while Red-State America would prosper. If the latter didn't build a neo-Great Wall to keep the former out, the former would build a neo-Berlin Wall to keep their own in. But Greene touched on another point; people who flee Blue shit-hole cities and states yet retain their worldview and voting habits not realizing what they voted for is why they are fleeing in the first place. Or as Mark Levin calls them, "locusts."

Will what has happened to us - and them - over the last "two weeks" (94 in non-woke math) that has caused these mass exoduses from the Newsoms and DeBolsheviks finally be a great awakening? There are encouraging signs, albeit anecdotal, that it is. But only time will tell. And the way things are going, there isn't much of that left.

A moron wrote recently about the geographic separation that is underway as more and more normal people flee blue sh*tholes like SF.

I am becoming convinced this is the most likely explanation for the utterly irrational yet spreading like wildfire idea that non-compliant people are morally evil, spread disease, and should be eliminated from society.

Where have we seen that before?

22 Critics may sneer at American Underdog, but I don't care what most critics say, and apparently the film did well enough in its first couple of days or so in the South and Midwest to make six million dollars. I wouldn't even call it a particularly heavy handed religious film although Faith and God are mentioned several times and there is a clip of the main character thanking Jesus after winning MVP, I think. If the critics had their undies in a knot about that they're puerile weenies. There were not other things about the story they could appreciate?

36 Dr Malone was kicked off of Twitter merely for commenting on a video about Pfizer's iffy data reporting. Which was accurate, not false at all - he posted the video with researchers discussing and had his own commentary. That was it.

But experiment with the link, look around Charleston/Dorchester/Berkeley counties, and really drill down to the raw numbers.

Those numbers, and what percentage of occupied hospital beds are being filled by actual covid patients is pretty damn good, in my opinion.

57 SAINT OF THE DAY
St. Anysia of Salonika (d. c. 298 A.D.), also known as St. Anysia of Thessalonica, was born to wealthy and pious Christian parents near Thessalonica, Greece. After the death of her parents, while she was still a young lady, Anysia dedicated her life completely to Christ. She made private vows of chastity and poverty, spent her days in fasting and prayer, and gave her wealth to the poor. She lived under the persecutions of the Roman Emperor Maximian, who declared that anyone who met a Christian could kill them without trial. One Sunday while on her way to church, St. Anysia was harassed by a Roman soldier. In one account he attempted to force her to make sacrifice to the pagan sun god. Anysia refused, declared her commitment to Christ, and spat in the soldier's face. Enraged, the soldier ran her through with his sword, winning Anysia the crowns of virginity and martyrdom. Her feast day is December 30.

Simply examining the possibility that Pfizer pushed some fraudulent vaccine test data to get thru approval. That got him kicked off permanently.

So what does that tell us?
_________

Twatter suspended Dr. Martin Kulldorff, of Harvard Med School, a few weeks back for something he had posted about vaccines that conflicted with the state-approved narrative.

It doesn't matter how well-respected, how widely-published, or how impressively-credentialed the expert is, the lefty techno geeks who control social media will not allow any of them to contradict the state-approved narrative about the virus and the vaccines.

We are living in very dangerous times, and it could get a lot worse if these vaccines turn out to be as destructive to peoples' immune systems as some doctors are saying.

There could potentially be a lot more illness and death coming our way in the next few years if these vaccines are as bad as some say, and the left will do whatever is necessary to stop the public from knowing the truth. They will have to, since they are the people who pushed the vaccines on everyone in the first place.

It was Trump who pushed the vaxxines from the start. The left was dead set against them, but solely because they refused to want to do anything Trump said was a good idea. It's why they all agreed to smear the idea of using HCQ or Ivermectin for treatment. The elites were against it, because they can't have successful treatments out there in order to get the EUA for their vaxxines. But the useful leftist and nevertrump idiots were against it, because orangemanbad.

It was not until the election was stolen for Biden and he was sworn in that the narrative changed. And even then, there was no one who was against vaxxines in general. The only push-back was the narrative "I encourage everyone to be vaxxinated, but I am against mandates".

153 Captain Hate - I obviously appreciate Kurt Warner's faith. My point was you don't have to be particularly religious to appreciate other aspects of the story, but some critics get their nose out of joint about this. It is a well made and acted film with lessons about persistence and tenacity too. Heck, my family are not football fans and they enjoyed the film.

Realistically what could the US do if China took Taiwan?

90 pct of our pols are getting direct/indirect kickbacks from China. Our Military relies on tech produced by China. Most of the crap we buy is manufactured in China, etc.

In many ways the US is already a vassal of the CCP.

Talk of going to war over Taiwan is silly.

My guess is that the census numbers have been garbage for at least five decades. Anything generated in the last census is also pure garbage, mainly because there is no clear definition of who should be counted, there are many who are not counted or double-counted, more and more of the census is being performed by statistical modeling - the same technology that said that the US would have 2.2 million dead from CoViD and the climate should be 4C warmer right now over the non-flooded parts of the country.

I noted something about her trial, in that she refused to testify. Remember when all the internet genius lawyers were saying "don't let Rittenhouse testify, they'll use it against him!!" Well, even though it shouldn't be so, juries *hate* it when a defendant refuses to testify, and it's usually a good way to guarantee not only a guilty verdict, but a maximum sentence.

Yet another example of how much of the country is adding a new chapter to the late Charles MacKay's book "Extraordinary Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". This one exhibits in agonizing detail the ongoing Mass Delusional Psychosis.

It is for this reason, particularly the "delusional" part where the NYT isn't capable of recognizing the correlation. Its a secular analog of how the Bible is a closed book to the unregenerate.

231 "From the "they have totally lost their minds Dept"-The IRS is requiring thieves to declare the market value of the goods they steal on their income tax forms."

Maryland has a voluntary yet required tax form for Maryland residents to submit with their tax filings.
It is a declaration of any taxable goods purchased outside of Maryland for bringing into the state of Maryland. It is expressly intended for when Maryland residents travel up I-95 to Delaware, and make purchases in the 'No Sales Tax' state of Delaware.

Single most unused tax form in Maryland.

China has been putting countries under its thumb with the belt and road initiative for a while now. Wherein MADD worked for nukes, it also works for finance. China has become the worlds banker, the worlds production and will soon own the worlds chip production. They have a huge Commie trading partner in Russia and the rest cannot pivot out of China's pocket fast enough.

Trump knew what Xi was up to and was trying to fix it. I still believe that's a big reason they attacked him like they did. China owns a lot of people and countries.

China declares Taiwan is a rebel province and blockades the nation until they starve and capitulate. No country is launching nukes over that.

This has nothing to do with any trust issue with the politiians, or with Big Pharma. This isn't just Gell-Mann amnesia, this is a delusional psychosis. The thoughts and beliefs running wild in their minds has nothing to do with reality.

278 I think the assumption that "Red America" would prosper independent of the "Blue America" is a bit rosey-shaded.

For sure it would be better off than the Blue Zones which are by and large urban and depend on the bounty of the rural areas in order to stay fed and fueled - but many modern amenities that we take for granted would be gone.

I can easily imagine a scenario where silicon valley/ISPs/Telecoms retreat to their blue zone and leave us out in the "red hinterlands" back to where we were in the 1950's. Likewise a brain drain in places like healthcare and engineering.

Fact of the matter is that while we'd be better off than the blue, it would still suck compared to what we have now in a physical sense.

China has hypsersonics from Russia and copied the 5th gen fighters and bombers. I'm imaging if they raised a cocked eyebrow towards China, many of those sites would be gone before they got turned on. China has been stealing the best tech since Clinton gave them satellites.

298 The only way for a peaceful separation, and one is necessary, is for the Left to initiate it. Their narcissism and psychosis compels them to either control something or destroy it. If they can do neither, they take their ball and go home.
I see progress on this front. First, individual states are even now separating from the central government. Soon, it seems, some Red states will not have abortions. Gun control is a thing found almost entirely in Blue states, and even there, it is under assault.
The only circumstance under which I will vote and participate in this dying system will be if the candidate, someone like Trump, would prompt the Left to secede. This assumes a fair election, and it is a good bet the last was stolen precisely because the Ruling Class knew the Left states might leave if Trump were re-elected.
I'm also mulling, but not quite decided, whether individual states should split with the federal government and enter into a separate peace with Putin if the buffoons start a war with Russia. There are good reasons to do this, and many bad reasons not to do it.
God bless Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. From memory, there are residency requirements now. Do more.

I don't claim to be a China expert, but I'm somewhat a student of history and human nature (and slept in a Holiday Inn). I respect the viewpoint that China's "rational" interest is not devastating Taiwan; but I'm not so sanguine that this analysis is correct. What is rational depends on the time frame. Many things not in "our interests" now may well be beneficial (10-20-30 years down the road).

IMO Chiner thinks in these time frames. So the "costs" of an immediate setback in world trade and loss of Taiwanese industrial capacity may well be amortized over the long run. Also, the "benefits" to China are in many ways spiritual/symbolic: the ancient dream of greater China. Don't discount the "irrational" rational goals of China, Iran, etc.

With the unlimited magic money printing, inflation is its own tax. But capital gains might just be keeping up with inflation ... no gain in "constant dollars". Yet, once sold, BigGov still wants the 20% of the asset in those gains that are not gains.

But the connected will have loopholes and carve outs, the lower middle and below will pay, and be hurt the most by the inflation.

So much of the riches are now made via investment in BigCorp, and BigGov underwriting their gambles. They don't care about liberty, but rather have united to form this oligopoly?, or maybe it is the 20 globalist banks really pulling the strings?

you're right you know

also what we call The Left or communism or whatever is an immune response - a bad one

it's a sign of "weakness of the body" - when you are weak, opportunistic infections pop up. that's what the Left IS

so I do think separating the healthy bits from the sick bits is step one. then the sick bits essentially die off, hopefully without destroying the healthy bits. then hopefully some new life can start in the sick bits

all of that will take time. we could ALSO choose to fight the infection head on - that's what Trump tried to do! if we do it soon, we could stop all this and keep the Nation.

There is also the eminently practical reason that Taiwan represents a defiant Chinese minority that has not been suppressed, and every day they remain independent and free is another day they can serve as an inspiration to the Uyghurs or Hong Kong or some regional warlord. That being said, while I would have to put my money on China if they decide to invade Taiwan, it's not as guaranteed a result as many think it is; Taiwan is pretty well armed, and they also exert a lot of economic power in China with which they could cause quite a bit of pain.

433 Re: Defenestratus at 278, in the short run, there would definitely be some dislocation; for example, a lot of ports in the South would have to be expanded to make up for losing NYC/Philly/Baltimore and the West Coast, and internal transportation corridors would have to be realigned and expanded as well. That being said:
1.) Keep in mind that if there is division, the blue folks won't be able to hold on to many entire states; the map will look like the 2020 election results by county, a bunch of blue islands in a sea of red. Keep in mind that the majority of right-wingers live in metro areas, too; many of the suburbs will prove difficult or impossible for the People's Republic to pacify. The only significant pieces of territory I can see them getting control over are New England, the NYC-DC corridor, and maybe a fifty-mile wide strip along the West Coast, and even those wouldn't be viable for very long. We'd have all the other cities (think Atlanta, the Texas metros, Chicago) back in a pretty short time.

Posted by: Joe Smith at December 31, 2021 12:20 AM (KKxUs)

434 --cont 433--
2.) As it is, companies are fleeing the blue zones; I think enough people in most of the sectors you mention will stay behind that we'll be able to muddle along in the short run, and then one of two things will happen:
a.) I think we tend to see the left as being one monolithic bunch of fire-breathing cadres, when really only 10-20% of them are that committed; most of the rest are leftish due to years of indoctrination by education, the media, etc. and because they've never really been exposed to the consequences of real attempts at socialism. Maybe Bezos, Gates, etc. can insulate themselves from that stuff, but when the average tech sees a drastic drop in his standard of living, gets passed over for promotion and raises in favor of incompetent minorities and ass-kissers, and sees the breakdown in order in the cities get much worse, I think a lot of them will say, "You know what, I can put up with those mouthbreathers in Amarillo" (note: author does not actually hold derogatory opinions about the good people of the Panhandle. :-) )

Posted by: Joe Smith at December 31, 2021 12:46 AM (KKxUs)

435 --cont 434--
b.) If I'm wrong about a, hey, we're going to be the free market utopia; the salary premium those jobs will command will soon attract the bright young things of the next generation, and encourage other capable folks to switch careers. The one industry I could see collapsing is education, and since that whole edifice needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt anyway, even that might not be such a bad thing, particularly since there would be no unions, leftist faculty and administrators, and other vested interests to interfere with the hundred flowers blooming. :-) Also, while the tech companies may pull out, the infrastructure remains; we'd have to be vigilant during the transition to make sure people don't destroy things on their way out, and we'd have to have a very high-quality Department of Cybersecurity, but those things are doable, not to mention anything they do to us can be turned against them as well.

Posted by: Joe Smith at December 31, 2021 12:51 AM (KKxUs)

436 --cont 435--

3.) Also, the 19th century industrial, dense urban landform is obsolete; it is simply no longer necessary to have millions of people living on top of each other in crowded, dirty, expensive, inefficient areas. It survives only due to inertia and the aesthetic preferences of a small but disproportionately powerful class of people. Heck, even the mid-late 20th century sprawling metropolitan landform is beginning to become less relevant in a society where communications, services, etc. are becoming easier to distribute over large areas every day. As COVID has taken trends that were happening anyway and accelerated them, losing the cities would free up people to start thinking about what the next phase of human land use and infrastructure will look like, without the environmentalist idiots and other authoritarians around to screw it up. Cities also tend to produce externalities that encourage collectivist thinking; a more spread out population would counter that trend and encourage self-reliance and staying out of your neighbors' business. The rebuilding that resulted could, I think, make America a model for the aspirations of the ordinary person once again.
