Biden cites one (1) analyst to make the preposterous claim that we're currently experiencing the strongest economy in fifty years.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden was widely mocked online after he posted a tweet describing his economic track record as the "strongest" of any Commander-in-Chief in the past half-century.

"We're ending 2021 with what one analyst described as the strongest first-year economic track record of any president in the last 50 years,” Biden wrote. "Let's keep the progress going."

He didn't name the analyst. You wouldn't know her. She goes to a different school.

Two pieces of evidence contradict this already-laughable claim: Mark Zandi, a reliably Democrat partisan analyst, downgraded the growth outlook from a brisk 5.2% to a low 2.2%.

Further, Larry Summers warns that Brandon has engineered an inflationary spiral that will take "a recession" to unwind.

But whatever, Brandon.

Of course Andrew Cuomo will not be prosecuted for allegations of sexual assault. It's good to be the King!

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday that it had concluded a thorough investigation into two sexual misconduct allegations against then-New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo and that while "credible evidence" was found, there will be no forthcoming charges against Cuomo.

Credible, shmedible. "Credibly accused" doesn't exist when we're talking about Democrats.

11-time NCAA all-American swimmer Jeri Shanteau: Will "Lia" Thomas represents "the extinction of women's sports." Biden is preparing to include a new provision in Title IX -- a title in the law about protecting women and girls in higher education -- guaranteeing that biological males can compete in girl's sports.

You know, I think it's fair to say that this is a more important issue to feminists than to anyone else. They really pushed Title IX in a vindictive way and disadvantaged a lot of boys sports to do so.

And unless chickenshit feminists start speaking up, I'm inclined to start conceding the issue and saying, "Feminists, here you go: Us men will beat the crap out of you in your precious Title IX sports. Enjoy. Your circus, your monkeys."

The media is smart, you guys.

Screenshot (1094).png

Obey us, we're experts, the media said, despite not being experts in literally anything at all, except, arguably, churning out adequate copy on a deadline, but no, they're shit at that, too.

A Michigan teacher tested positive for covid during a flight so she quarantined in the bathroom for five hours.

A Michigan school teacher traveling over the holidays voluntarily isolated in an airplane's tiny bathroom for five hours after testing positive for COVID-19 mid-flight.

Marisa Fotieo was on a flight to Reykjavik, Iceland from Chicago on Dec. 20 when her throat began to hurt, TODAY reported. With rapid test kits handy, Fotieo decided to take one "and within what felt like two seconds" discovered she was positive for the virus.

"There's 150 people on the flight, and my biggest fear was giving it to them," she told TODAY.

She decided it would be best to quarantine herself in the airplane's bathroom for the remainder of the flight which she estimated was five hours. She filmed what it was like in the tiny quarters in a video with over 4 million views on TikTok.

All she cared about was not spreading it.

Oh, and racking up some sick influencer cred.

Jeopardy's highest-earning female player ever? Well, it's a Very Special Lady.

That is where this is driving towards. A lot of them are already claiming that. It's just a few months away from being the new trans orthodoxy, repeated by the "mainstream" (LOL) media and "science" magazines.

Jesus must love the Babylon Bee because he gave them the charism of prophecy:

The Bulwark's True Conservative, Tim Miller, nods along as Chris Hayes claims that conservatives make a big deal out of organized shoplifting/looting rings only because of all the black faces involved.

All of these "true conservatives" ran Conservative, Inc. all of our lives, and we always wondered, "Why is it we're donating so much money, and yet we're always losing?"

Well, there you go.

I believe that we're going to see exactly what we lived through in the late 70's under Carter - recessionary business conditions while inflation steadily increases. I remember that before Carter and his policies made it happen, every official Economist said such a thing was impossible, that those could never happen at the same time. Carter proved them wrong, and it's going to happen again for the same reasons it happened last time.

The mother was quarantined in her room at her ( luxury) retirement community .

My buddy , his wife and son are still symptom free thus haven't had any test. The brother had connections and got a supply of Ivermectin pills. My friend had to sneak this in to his mother . Both the brother and mother are on day 2 of Ivermectin and feel better already. It's criminal that my friend had to sneak in medicine.

The entire LW franchise has been streaming free on Peacock. The first one was great. 2 and 3 seemed tolerable, but I can't remember the difference other than I'd like to see a version with all the Pesci parts removed. I could not get through 4, and the half hour or so I did manage to slog through was intensely painful. I'd seen it waaaaay back when I bought a DVD player in the 90's, and they gave me a bunch of DVD's. Lost In Space, a chick flick or two and LW 4. I'd obviously blocked it from memory like a bad trauma.

Hey! If the bad comic relief has been failing us for the past 2 movies, let's get a new comic relief! But we should keep the old one in case somebody still likes him! That's the ticket!

162 BTW, a guy who can't count to five is running the economy. Just think about that for a minute.

Democrats have made zero contribution to this economy. They have not passed any major legislation and they're rolling in the regulatory state, hard. Republicans and Trump had a pro-business policy and a very good tax bill. All of that is STILL driving what's going on. But Democrats have failed to make the right adjustments to keep it going. It's only a matter of time before it sinks.

I agree - I see the period of 2022 - 2024 shaping up as one where the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary are all at war with each other, trying to carve out turf. A virtual Civil War if you will, one without bullets but still with a lot of destruction. I think people on both sides will see the catastrophe coming, but rather than stop it they will let it come, because they all will be angling for how they can blame what's about to happen on the other side.

When you look at the internals of most great collapses, there is always stuff like this going on among people in power. They see it coming, but they'll think they can use it to their advantage.

I joined gab back in 2016, they didn't ask for a phone# then - but that now seems to be standard form. Parler does, and twatter definitely does even though they say you can sign up with just email.

Gab is pretty meh. Some people like catturd have some presence there - but it's not at all like twatter. From what I'm seeing, gab is full of a bunch of Q types or some seriously anti-semitic types who are often also Q types. Then there's some folks like Ben Garrison. The owner (Torba) is also becoming pretty seriously anti-semitic and anti-Trump. With Trump it's probably sour grapes, but I have difficulty buying into his Christian bona-fides as he moves between the two effortlessly.

And then, of course, there was that crazy shit where he wrote that sci-fi novel about an isolated planet ruled by galactic elites who use it as a pedophile playground packed with child sex slaves... That's an odd coincidence.

As a fantasy writer and gamer, I have had to put up with a lot of ignorance and spite over the years over the alleged satanic effects of fantasy. None of it is true. Its no more sinister than faerie tales (suggested reading: CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, and GK Chesterton on the subject) and significantly less sinister than Santa Claus.

Comparing JK Rowling to CS Lewis seems wrong somehow- especially since Lewis was trying to create an implicitly Christian story.

On the other hand, I do not find HP particularly offensive either. I do not think Rowling really ever thought that far into anything (as her behavior and statements back and forth and fights with the Red Guard show.)

I agree. But both are fantasy settings with children that include magic, and somehow one is totally fine while the other is evil and sinister.

JK Rowling has a metric megaton of Christian themes in her books, even if she didn't mean to have them. The entire story arc is about sacrifice and love to stop evil.

As a fantasy writer and gamer, I have had to put up with a lot of ignorance and spite over the years over the alleged satanic effects of fantasy. None of it is true. D&D does not get kids into satanism, Harry Potter is not seducing kids into black magic. Its no more sinister than faerie tales (suggested reading: CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, and GK Chesterton on the subject) and significantly less sinister than Santa Claus.

437 My point being, Lewis was trying to create an implicitly Christian story. As was Tolkien (the idea is this is a world without a Savior- and needs one. Also some idea about courage and a lot of other stuff he was putting in that one.)

That does not mean Rowling means anything with magic in her stories beyond... like the force. It is power and a secret club that drives and provides a setting for the story that she is trying to tell.

Fantasy writers are just like any other strain of people. They show you who they are.

There's a movie with Tom Hanks called "Mazes and Monsters". I got a later copy with a very deceptive cover, but essentially it's a movie showing how Tom Hanks' character was "corrupted" by playing D&D with his friends - he ends up killing somebody and trying to throw himself off the WTC because of the game.

It's one of those movies that's fun to mock because of the ridiculous premise ("Mazes and Monsters is a far-out game). Also one of the other characters is constantly changing up the hats he wears.

Having grown up in a cohort that read the series and seen how many of them later turned out, it doesn't seem to have much impact either way. It's probably mostly valuable to adults who are trying to consider the themes (same for LoTR). You know what did turn some people into leftists? College. But college is seen as a gateway to wealth and status so no one would consider giving that up.

To do propaganda well the message has to be simple, in your face, and repetitive. Visual is advantaged relative to reading.

497 Chronicles of Narnia doesn't hide the fact it's a story to influence Christianity. Can it influence kids?/i]

Well this comes down to what has influence and what does not. For example does playing violent video games influence kids to be violent? What about minecraft, does that influence kids to want to build things?

The influences are the worldview and themes behind the story, not the specific contents.

For example the super popular Grand Theft Auto games are pretty soulless and amoral, even promoting lawlessness and abuse of everyone for your advancement. Probably not a great influence on your kids.

The old game Carmageddon had a lot of the same kind of action, but the worldview was just "this is crazy fun silly driving stuff!" and nothing deeper than that. Probably not much influence at all.

Narnia's worldview and themes like Harry Potter are about good vs evil, using your gifts wisely, realizing that some things matter more than yourself or what you want in life, and so on. Those are generally positive influences.

Other stuff like His Dark Materials are anti-theist and basically soulless trash that are a bad influence.

Well that's a surprise. Few people would know that or express it. I was attracted to it back in the 70s in New Haven and I actually did some independent studying of the phenomenon both practical and theoretical and later on in the decade I ran across all these Wiccan people who had no clue about what they thought they were about. Basically the believed in magic and supernatural power but not that icky sorcery and wizardry stuff with blood and swords and upside down crosses and demons and myrmidons from hell. So they did a change up and switched it to the female being the power (this being the dawn of feminism) and kinder an gentler and more in tune with the Earth and ecology. All that stuff.

Very amusing. I did some card readings for a group once and realized that it was just a bunch of young ladies getting together for tea and biscuits only talking about witches and elves and magical powers rather than bridge or canasta and gossip. I wowed them with a few psych tricks and never went back. Most of them were married and using the meeting for a reason to be out of the house at night but not at a bar. Tempting

525 > JK Rowling has a metric megaton of Christian themes in her books, even if she didn't mean to have them. The entire story arc is about sacrifice and love to stop evil.

The main character recognizes that he has to die to destroy the power of the ultimate evil dude which was taken into himself, and then he comes back to life. I guess that isn't allegorical?

Also, there isn't any real hint of spiritual beings involved with their magic, or acquiring it by means other than natural-born ability which is honed through practice and study (like any non-supernatural talent, really). There are mythological creatures, but you could just as easily call Lewis's use of satyrs and nymphs or his treatment of planetary "gods" in his space trilogy an endorsement of paganism. In practice, no one actually taking Harry Potter seriously would be drawn to the occult, because one of the rules of the world is that you're born into that world, you can't find your own way in. If it's Satanic, it's from the Calvinist branch.

Dude it's hard to find. Gotta pirate it (I have old VHS tapes of most of it). The music videos were the best part, but the DVD releases don't include them, because MTV only licensed those for broad cast

562 @542: "It ain't Wiccans or Harry Potterites who're convincing tens of thousands of young people that they need to destroy their sex organs."

It might take another twenty years, but I think folks are gonna look back on the permissive early hormonal interventions and surgeries, and it's gonna look as crazy as lobotomies were.

If I was walking down the street and some fuckface yelled at me to "get vaccinated" and I yelled back "Shut the fuck up and put your mask on!," but all you saw and heard was me yelling at someone to put their mask on, what would you think?

564 What I'm getting here is that big-name authors, like big-name actors and big-name musicians, frequently have some issues that they try to work out through their art. And it works about as often.

565 > Stephen R Donaldson or Piers Anthony are creepy as hell.

Got a few of the latter's books from the library as a kid. He... seemed like the type to fit in well at CNN.

I saw the Jeopardy current Jeopardy streak holder compete while at my in-laws on Christmas Eve. One of them remarked that, "... that is one homely looking woman."

My reply? "That's a dude, and a homely looking dude at that." This was met by nervous chuckles all around.

Someone had to say it!

Posted by: Tim Riggins at December 30, 2021 05:45 PM (ZZK0E)

One day maybe you'll wake up and realize that the boomers for the most part are passengers on this crazy train and the ones that are running the bus are more from a younger generation. Granted the Congress is full of oldies but it's not them that leading the charge and doing the antifa marches and burning and looting downtown.

That's a young man's game. So depending on your age you may need to look in a mirror.

584 A) I'd rather risk the small chance of catching covid than the large chance of pissing myself on a flight. If this ditz really cared she'd ask to be but in the cargo hold so that she doesn't continue to inconvenience passengers all for likes.

B) There is no way Tim Miller doesn't have a crawl space filled with tween boys he's raped and murdered. That's pedophile face if I've ever seen it.

586 Kamala Harris is correct when she says she wouldn't receive the same press coverage if she were a white man.

If she were a white man she wouldn't be VP, and nobody would care about covering her.
