JK - I only ever make gravy from the T-day turkey drippings and Christmas ham drippings. This year I used less salt in the turkey brine and didn't have overly salty gravy, almost could have added a bit had I known. But there is always salt on the table. Ham gravy also never needs any salt added, just pepper. Turkey gravy gets sage and pepper. Posted by: PaleRider at December 25, 2021 05:16 PM (3cGpq) 76

My oldest daughter in ABQ still hasn't called me. I am really starting to think something is wrong.. that I did something to upset her. Last time we spoke on the phone was October on her birthday and she acted like she just didn't really want to talk. I mean, shouldn't a daughter or son call their mom on Christmas Day?

We really had a lovely dinner last night (our big one). Three sons made it back to town and my wife was just thrilled to see them and made all their favorite cookies and treats. She is not their birth mother but God placed her in their lives (and mine) when we were stumbling around the earth when the chips were down and we all needed the presence and love of an exceptional woman.

Oh, so I have a quick question.
I'm preparing road chicken...um, in other words my meals while I'm out on the road. It's nothing elaborate. I just take a bunch of boneless skinless chicken, coat it in spice, throw it in a pan with a bunch of broth and cook for like an hour or so. Would I be able to add whiskey in with the broth or would that do jack shit? Cuz I've got all this booze, maaaaan... Posted by: Robert at December 25, 2021 05:35 PM (1Yy3c) 125

Pumpkin Pie Disasters ... Ace, at least your pie was baked ... As a young bride, one of my SILs assumed the frozen pumpkin pie she'd bought was already baked and that the only thing she needed to do was thaw it overnight (like a frozen cheesecake) ... We all still giggle about the pumpkin "soup" she served for dessert, along with the many other food disasters our family has experienced over the years.
