The Morning Report - 12/14/21

hocuomo.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and as we continue into the 90th week of the two weeks to flatten the curve, there's no end in sight to this madness. And madness it is. Because the powers that be just couldn't abide to have their plans to reshape the world for the betterment of humanity and their bank accounts, but mostly their bank accounts, derailed by the hoi polloi in the form of a loud, orange-complected nouveau riche boor from Queens, millions of us have been turned into crack-monkeys, hooked on fear and conditioned to surrender our freedom to the State in exchange for promises of perpetual safety.

The good news is that there are still millions more of us who are completely fed up with this garbage, and are venting that rage all over the world. Naturally, you wouldn't know it from the media which either embargoes the story completely or otherwise demeans and slimes the people as science-denying spreaders of plague who are to be shunned. Or worse.

First up, the Supreme Court of the United States once again urinates down our throat and tells us it's champagne.

It's getting harder and harder to expect that the Supreme Court will protect religious liberty against relentless attack from Democrats. Today brings another example, with SCOTUS declining to issue a stay of a NY vaccine mandate for healthcare workers that lacks a religious exemption. The exemption was recently removed.

The case is Dr. A. v. Kathy Hochul (who replaced Andrew Cuomo when he resigned). Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch would have granted the application. That's it. No Kavanaugh. No Barrett. And of course, No Roberts. Needless to say, the "liberal" block didn't break ranks, they almost never do.

This is why Roe v. Wade ain't really going anywhere. Frankly, the Texas decision the other day, pun intended, split the baby in half. I thought they were going to overturn it totally but in any case it's more muddle and confusion, but I digress. Psaki-Psircling back to Kathy Hochul, who one should remember was Angel of Death Cuomo's lieutenant governor for his entire time in office and obviously got the gig because she was a Renfield-esque sycophant. So, with zero threat in any real meaningful definition of that word from an even less deadly variant of the classic Chinese COVID which in real terms was essentially bad flu, Hochul issued another mask mandate. New Yorkers were less than pleased.

The new statewide rules, put into effect largely to stem the tide of a surge in cases upstate, where vaccination rates are poor, went into effect just three days after she announced the order on all businesses that don't require their workers, customers or visitors to present proof of vaccination against [Chinese] COVID-19.

One Manhattan hedge-fund manager called Hochul's order -- which at first was met with confusion about whether it applied to offices as well as retail and service businesses -- "shortsighted, in that people were told they have to get a vaccine."

"These mask mandates hinder the desire people have to get back to the office and further delay the revitalization of Midtown and downtown office life," the financier said."If people want to wear masks, they can wear masks, but we have to let individuals make their own risk-taking decisions and stop making those decisions on their behalf."

The hedge-funder added: "And that might be necessary at the beginning of a pandemic -- but two years later, it reeks of authoritarianism."

Same shit, different coast with Gavin Newsom. But I guess Larry Elder really is a Klansman so grab your ankles, California because you're getting it up the sigmoid without lube. Once again.

Surprisingly, one blue state governor is bucking the trend.

Colorado Democrat Gov. Jared Polis declared the coronavirus emergency "over" in an interview Friday, proclaiming that in an era of widely available vaccines, it's people's "own darn fault" if they get sick.

"Everybody had more than enough opportunity to get vaccinated," Polis told Colorado Public Radio. "Hopefully, it's been at your pharmacy, your grocery store, a bus near you, [or at] big events. At this point, if you haven't been vaccinated, it's really your own darn fault."

Polis made the comments while explaining his refusal to reimplement a statewide mask mandate as have other Democrat governors in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, and New Mexico, each of which include mask requirements despite vaccination status, according to a MultiState tracker. Mandates passed by Democrat governors in California and New York exclude the vaccinated but not people with natural immunity due to prior infection.

While Polis uses verbiage to derogate and rip his constituents - which really is kind of craven and cowardly considering he outright states the pandemic "over" - the fact that he declared it over should not be overlooked. If anyone does get sick, there is no blame because as stated above this is a virus that the vast majority of people who are infected and become symptomatic will NOT die from.

The problem, though, is that people are not ready or there is no one leader to rally around and just take to the streets and engage in either mass strikes or mass acts of civil disobedience. Certainly, if the Klain/Kalorama Klown Kommittee running Joey Softserve will sick the DOJ on parents protesting mind- and body-rape of their children at the brainwashing centers posing as schools, let alone persecute and imprison ordinary citizens for a staged Reichstag Fire last January 6th. Surely, arresting people for protesting the lockdowns and forcible injections and claiming to be a threat to public health is a snap.

This cannot go on. It cannot be allowed to go on. And the actions of SCOTUS now underscore that body's total corruption and fealty to this junta. We shall see what the elections next year will bring us, vis a vis, if Dao-Min Yen will be in play. Meh, if a shadow government can convene before the last election and manufacture an "orange revolution," what can't they do when they actually are in control of the whole shooting match?

UPDATE: So evidently Hoch-Cuomo is talking out the side of her ass?

New York Governor Kathy Hochul undermined her own statewide mask mandate on Monday by revealing that she would not force counties to comply with the mandate.

"We have left this to the counties to enforce. We hope that counties will enforce it," Hochul told reporters. "We expect that they will, we hope that they will, it's in the best interest of public health. But it also comes down to individual businesses doing the right thing as well. We're asking businesses to protect their customers and to protect their employees". . .

. . . With several counties not enforcing the mandate, it's almost as if the mandate doesn't exist -- at least if you live in a county with Republican leadership.

So then, what's the friggin' point? We'll see if Hoch-Cuomo punishes GOP counties in some manner. You have to believe she and her henchman are figuring that angle.

Can't wait for all the actors and actresses to be replaced by CGI characters.

I sometimes wonder if movies were actually much better under the Hays Code. Since screenwriters and directors couldn't just depend on the cast taking their clothes off, monotonously cursing or killing each other in a bloodbath, things like character development, pacing and plot were better developed than nowadays.

You can see this in sharp relief where I live. The situation is weird in that my town is fairly "managerial class" - lots of scientists and academics - due to its company town history. It's also Republican, which is odd, but there are lots of these types around. The part of the big city nearest my city is the upscale part full of similar people. In my town, lots of masks and COVID-worried.

If I drive the other direction, though, to the small town on the other side of where I live (which is where I go to the hardware store and various other tasks), it's all blue collar and surrounded by semi-rural tracts. There, life is normal. I can drive five miles toward the bigger city and get deeper into COVID land, or drive five miles the other direction and COVID doesn't exist at all.

Posted by: Lady in Black at December 14, 2021 07:36 AM

===========

The box office died because of the pandemic response that closed down theaters for a year. It really didn't help that CA and NY were some of the last to open their theaters at all.

What we're seeing now is that any movie designed for audiences that aren't just looking for roller coaster rides are failing. This is typically referred to as the adult mid-budgeted picture (yeah...$100 million is right about mid-budgeted these days). The Last Duel and West Side Story are the two biggest examples of this where the movies were designed for older audiences almost exclusively, and they both bombed horribly.

Why is it that Black Widow, Shang Chi, and (egads) Eternals does at least reasonably well (with projections of the new Spider Man movie being astronomical right now with a $500 million opening weekend prediction), but The Last Duel and WSS fail? Because the older audiences are still afraid of going to the theater but the younger are significantly less afraid.

Polis is a slimy weasel with totalitarian ambitions, but he is also weak and foolish. He historically has just followed whatever Newsom and Pritzker do with a 2-3 week delay. This is the first significant deviation from that, and I suspect it has to do with his polling (though that's just a guess). Colorado is a big state utterly dominated and ruined by the Front Range. Polis is trying to split the baby, in that he's not going to do the hardcore state-level stuff but he will do nothing to intervene against the counties letting their freak flags fly.

Like everything else in Polis' entire history and character, this is a lukewarm, split-the-difference response tinged with his own towering mediocrity.

Wretched Whitmer is up for re-election in 2022. Going to be interesting to see what Michiganders do. The scrunt triumvirate of Whitmer-Nessel (AG)-Benson (SoS) needs to go. If Michiganders do not oust them, I fear that Wretched will go full-Newsom or full-Hochul. If that happens, I will have to look into moving out of the state to a state which has been reliably GOP-led.

82 That's talking recent trends in box office, of course. The longer term problem that Hollywood has largely decided to forget about is that in the 70s the box office was significantly more robust in terms of type of films that won, and in the 40s the actual percentage of people who went to the theaters was significantly higher.

The 80s broke Hollywood's ability to diversify and television killed Hollywood's ability to dominate mass media at the level is used to (the rise of things like streaming aren't helping either, but they haven't been as damaging yet as television).

The interesting thing to watch right now is Disney. The went wholehog into streaming, particularly with their added fee release of Mulan on Disney+. They touted the numbers big at the time. It was a big success for them, but they stopped reporting numbers on new releases that followed the strategy until Shang-Chi when they decided to release it exclusively in theaters, calling it an experiment.

Disney's own actions tell me that they don't think streaming can financially support the kinds of movies they want to make, with potential for billion dollar revenue. Disney+ means just more content, not more money.

88 Well can't seem to quote from the pjmedia article but it seems to have contradictory quotes from Trump.

1st it alleges that Trump blames Netanyahu for not having a peace deal between Israel and Palestine. The quote here says 'I don't think Bibi ever wanted to make peace'. In the sense of not really thinking a deal would work and generally pushing for a one-state solution, probably true. Not quite the same as blaming him for the lack of a deal though.

The second quote 'I have been told by everyone that it's not doable. Sheldon Adelson said it's not doable. And Sheldon was a great deal-maker. He said it's impossible.'

Well that seems to suggest Trump didn't think a deal was possible either. Also odd that a book on the Abraham Accords has this segment on Palestine. Typically only Democrats think of Palestine as the key to peace in the Middle East.

The theater experience is cool. The screen is big and the sound is good and it's a shared experience which is also usually a good thing.

But the real offset isn't the small screen, I don't think. I think it is the big screen at home. If you have a room big enough, you can get a good 70" TV set and decent surround sound system for about $1,500 nowadays. For a family of four, that's about a dozen movie nights at the theater. A screen that big with a decent surround sound setup is awfully close to the "real experience" of the theater, sans the excitement of going out for an event.

95 Morning peeps.

Some of here have always thought the "Plan" being used by the leftists also included Korporate Amerikka as an instrument for what I call Policy Enforcement. It started a long time ago but really went off the rails years ago with the bathroom debate and the transgenders. Target was one of leaders in allowing anyone to use any restroom based on their own self identity. It's progressed from there. For all practical purposes the bathroom issue was resolved in favor of the transgenders by Korporate Amerikka.

Now, there are mask and vaccine mandates. Put in place as a corporate policy and supported by the government. Those that argue the legal aspects of this are totally missing the point. We've seen several instances where corporate policy has been challenged and let stand. The courts are in on this, on behalf of the government. It's really not a question whether or not mandates are legal or can be enforced... they're policy and Korporate Amerikka with the junta's support are running this show.

I have a counterintuitive thought on this.

People thought the theatrical experience was dead with the rise of big screen tvs (that have been around for, what, 20 years?), but the price point drop to affordable accelerated the thinking. And then the pandemic happened and we could get "theatrical" releases on our great tvs at home for like $20. Theaters were dead.

Except that they're not. They're dead for movies appealing to older audiences, but comic book movies, the current king of the multiplex, have been doing reasonably well over the past six months in theaters, despite the media's continued pandemic porn.

Why? Why is Spider-Man projected to have a $500 million opening? Because the home theater experience isn't actually all that great. You need to get the settings right to make it look good (not all do). You still have distractions, they're just diff ones. And the control you have over the experience ends up being an actual detriment. It's less immersive because you can just pause any time.

Yeah, they do. I think a lot of screenwriters think they're Andrew Dice Clay. But ADC only worked for a while before he flamed out because it is shocking but it isn't really that appealing.

Writing solid children's content that is entertaining and appealing to children while also telling a good story that is also simultaneously compatible with (or even appealing to) adults is a very hard thing to do. Pixar under John Lasseter was brilliant at doing this and Pixar even remained largely good after his departure. It seems like when it comes to children's content, there's Pixar and then there's "other."

Capitalism isn't an "-ism", it's just what naturally happens whether you like it or not. Collectivism isn't possible without a State to direct the collective. Yadda yadda, horsies and duckies: True Communism is impossible and will always devolve into State Capitalism. Capitalism with only one Capitalist. In other words: Tyranny.

All true. I suspect that theaters are largely dead, with big tentpole movies and a few smaller releases to fill in the schedule being the only things that will be found in theaters for the time being. The giant spectacular movies are still better in theaters. Big setpieces and major visuals still work better in that environment. I have a good home theater setup, and my viewing experience of "Dunkirk" is barely acceptable. Some movies (like that one) really need a theater. For others, the social/shared aspect is significant, like we see with some of the blockbusters (all of which have been superhero movies recently). But for probably 90% of movies, the theater is irrelevant.

I still go to theaters for the big screen experience when it counts, like Dune. But for the kind of smaller, dialog-driven movies us 29-year-olds like, a more intimate, pants-optional venue is preferred.

I used to drive a long way to see quirky/foreign/oddball films, but now I don't have to. So I guess I'm contributing to the decline of movie attendance.

122 In terms of cursing, there's really two things at play.

The first is the influence of David Mamet and Quentin Tarantino. This mostly influenced movies designed for men where dialogue suddenly needed to be filled with profanity in order to gain a level of edgy.

The other thing is the rating system. The PG rating is for kids now, purely. The PG-13 rating is seen as largely for adult children with its dominance by lighter action fare since the 80s.

The R rating? That's for adults. How do you get an R rating, though? Well, you can say fuck twice and get it. Or you can say fuck once in a sexual context, and you'll get it. Or you can kick someone in the head (a leftover from 70s Kung Fu era that is pretty much the sole reason The Matrix got an R). Or you can breach some kind of level of sex and violence that's hard to measure because the MPAA isn't terribly consistent. What's the easiest way? Say fuck a few times.

And then there's the people stuck in the middle (like me) who want to go out but don't really know anyone. I'm working on that, but a movie theater isn't the venue for that. You can't meet people at a movie. You go to a movie with people you already know. Add in the dreck coming out of Hollywood and it's doubly bad. I used to go to movies by myself just because I liked going to the movies. The product being put out is often so lousy that I don't bother anymore, especially if there's nobody to go with. 130 118 Some movies (like that one) really need a theater. For others, the social/shared aspect is significant, like we see with some of the blockbusters (all of which have been superhero movies recently). But for probably 90% of movies, the theater is irrelevant.

I think a lot of people keep up with Marvel simply because it's "what you do", it's how you keep up with the cultural conversation. It's becoming harder with more obscure characters and more options including the TV shows (I still think Marvel is in decline with the last hurrah being the next Spider-Man movie, probably why Marvel is desperate to keep Sony making the movies with Tom Holland right now), but it's probably still being propped up by that. I keep waiting for something else to come along and supplant Marvel. It's kind of boring at this point.

Because young people want to go out to get away from their adults (parents) and adults want to stay home to not have to run into all the young people who are out.

For young people, going out is an adventure. For adults, going out is a chore.

Yeah, I was predicting that theaters would come back near the beginning of the pandemic. The big spectacles need that revenue that streaming will never be able to provide.

But the smaller ones? Movies like Belfast that were made for a few million dollars? A token theatrical release that pulls in half a million followed by a contract with a streaming service could put the production in the black really quickly. It takes a lot of financial pressure off of some of these smaller films, and it'll become the path of least resistance.

145 It's pretty clear to see Republicans don't have a plan. The idiot pretending to be majority leader doesn't have a legislative plan. For anything. By now we should have at least seen the outline for a new Contract with America. Specific pieces of legislation for the major issues impacting our country that Republicans will be moving through Congress if they gain a majority. Instead we get platitudes, tv appearances and conspiring with Democrats to pass garbage like the phony infrastructure bill. We get Mitch McConnell working with his buddy Schumer to further crush any dissent to the Uniparty.

This is why the GOP loses. There is a massive opportunity to do good things. To really pull together the strong coalition of voters that have recently come into the party. Instead they sit back and watch, too afraid or too dumb to realize now is the time for planning and action, not pedestrian navel gazing. It's a complete disgrace the GOP can't actually mimic the voters and instead chooses their own echo chamber and donor class.

Mark Levin: Let's look at some quick facts. In 1856, the Supreme Court ruled in Dred Scott that slavery is the law of the land compelled by the Constitution. It is not compelled by the Constitution. Even in the free territories, slavery is the law of the land. In 1896 the Supreme Court decided in Plessy vs. Ferguson that separate but equal is equal. That's not what the equal-protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment says! And in 1944, the Supreme Court - by the way, I don't give FDR and Earl Warren a pass on this. The Supreme Court upheld in a very short opinion the internment of American citizens mostly Japanese-Americans, the removal from their homes on the Pacific Coast, moving them to the interior and they upheld that. So we have slavery, segregation, the internment of American citizens. The Supreme Court was on the wrong side of all those.

The House can't do much on its own. The House and bare control of the Senate can't do much either. Yeah, it's a bit of a meme, but it's also true.

The best we were ever going to see from a Republican victory in 2022 was stopping any legislative achievements from Biden, and I think we're going to get that. There's a very small chance that we could even get new leadership in the Republican caucus (it's no greater than 5%, I'd say, but there is a chance).

Any kind of movement in terms of actual legislation is going to come from the Republican nominee in 2024 (cough, Trump, cough).

199 Walker argued that pedophiles should be destigmatized by identifying them as "minor-attracted persons" ("MAPs") rather than the pejorative term "pedophile," because attraction to children is a sexual orientation and not immoral.
++++
There's an obvious problem right there. The word "pedophile" is not itself pejorative. It is descriptive. From the Greek, "pedo" is from "pais" which is "child" and "phile" is from "philos" which is "loving." Pedophile means ... a person who is attracted to (or "loves," albeit perversely) children. In other words, it is the same as a "MAP."

The word itself is not pejorative, it's *connotation* is negative and it is often used as a pejorative, but it isn't actually one. As such, the critical theorists on this get it wrong yet again. Pedophiles aren't despised by normal people because the word used to describe them is a pejorative, the word used to describe them became a pejorative *because* normal people despise them. If they pull of their linguistic trick with switching over to "MAP" then that, too, will become a pejorative because the critical theorists fucked up cause and effect.

259 243 We are trying to win the battle against GOVERNMENT MANDATED VACCINES on religious grounds. That is the weakest of all arguments.

For me, the strongest argument is that government CAN NEVER mandate a vaccine. Ever. Yes, it goes to basic liberty, regardless of what religion you are. The government can't mandate what goes into my body. The tyranny of Public Health is still tyranny.

There is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits a state mandate to take vaccines or gene therapy or any other medical treatment. The 1st and 14th ought guarantee a religious exemption though.

And at what point does a state legislature acting as a tyranny of the majority cross that line and intrude on The Bill of Rights? Apparently for this court (other then Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch) that is never.

I believe they should always give deference to the state where there are clear 10th Amendment issues. But the issue is that cases such as this involving fundamental religious liberties subvert other constitutionally protected rights a state simply can't legislate away. Ergo that's not SCOTUS lending credence to the 10th Amendment. It's abandoning a principled and very specific defense of The Bill of Rights.

267 I'm unclear. Are you calling all Catholics enemies of Freedom and Liberty?

Yeah, because I'm a huge believer that all things can be understood in broad, universal univariant equations with binary results. (sigh)

The battles between Rome and Protestants have included the idea of central control vs individualism. Rome has always been very central control oriented and around it is a culture of cram down on the lower classes.

Calvinist Protestant thought place salvation as a matter of Election, Rome has a complicated and fluid formula of Faith plus Works. These are diametrically opposite fundamental understanding of human nature.

The Founders were definitely more Protestant, and there was huge amounts of suspicion, even as late as JFK that a Roman Catholic would have a "national" allegiance with Rome than with a Constitutional Republic.

Now do all Roman Catholics subscribe to that? Of course not, for many it is a family tradition. (Clarence Thomas is RC too)

268 250 I have a different perspective on why Kavanaugh and Barrett turned down the chance to weigh in on the New York mandates; I believe (and this is from reading a lot of what they said) that they're focused on devolving a lot of Federal Control back to the States - and part of that is saying that if a State wants to do something stupid under State Law, backed by that State's Supreme Court, then fine, the Feds won't interfere.

So if a State decides in reimplement slavery, all is good, right?
Posted by: Reuben Hick at December 14, 2021 09:13 AM (+LCoQ)

I think they should have stood up for religious liberty; so I wish they would have overturned it the way Gorsuch, Thomas, and Alito wanted to. But I think I understand how the two most recent members, knowing that they are getting ready to make one of the biggest shifts in Judicial doctrine ever experienced in this countries history, are trying to get some political cover by saying "See? We sided with the left here." I can see them saying next year "We approve of Mississippi approving it's own standards for abortion just like we approved of New York's setting it's own standards on mandates."

Part of it is Covid and people staying home

Part of it is the movie. Saving Private Ryan. Dunkirk. Yes, much better in theater. But movies for the kids, the excitement of going to the movies has been replaced by electronics. Playstation, etc. Kids are more attuned.

Perhaps the biggest reason other than cost is: it once took 5-6 months for it to show up on HBO. Now, 3-4 months max. You were "missing out" if you hadn't seen a "blockbuster " in the theater.

PARKING TICKET: My wife and I went into town and visited a shop. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and I said, "Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?" He just ignored us and continued writing the ticket.
I called him an "a**hole." He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn-out tires.
So my wife called him a "s*ithead." He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing more tickets.
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote. He finally finished, sneered at us and walked away. Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it and went home.

Subsidiarity and nationalism. The Catholic Church has always regarded itself as a body of churches (the whole council thing, ecumenical and the more common smaller models is republican in structure). There is arguably a selfish interest in encouraging nationalism and the division of large empires but that's been consistent as well.

Religious doctrine is unified and unchaneable (infallible as it were).

Justification and sanctification (referred to in the Council of Trent as the first and second justifications respectively) aren't that complicated. The first is by faith, the second is by works and/or purgatory.

All are invited vs predestination and rejection of free will is pretty opposite yes.

One of our basic civil liberties is to seek redress for damages against others who have caused us harm.

Everyone has the ability to waive such redress, but the consent must be knowing and informed.

326 The federal government has TAKEN away our civil liberty to seek redress against the drug companies. You can't seek redress if the vaccines hurt you or if it doesn't work.

The government cannot deprive me of that individual civil liberty.

A person who voluntarily takes the vaccine assumes the risk and consents to waiving the right to redress.

But a person who has the VACCINE FORCED ON THEM has given NO SUCH CONSENT TO WAIVE THE RIGHT OF REDRESS IN THE COURTS and therefore it is against their civil rights.

327 Kids want to go to the theaters to get away from the parents who might not approve of doing a couple doobies before watching a movie.

328 And when I go on the Church Militant site I see lots of discussion absolutely opposed to vaccine mandates and other terrible overreach by the governments worldwide. That doesn't mean I need to agree with them about -and I don't-that Protestants only participate in the Lords Supper as a memorial. However, in this fight for liberty we must all stand together. There are Christians of various stripes as well as non Christians in the NJ conservative group I belong to and arguments about religion have never come up.

329 Investopedia:
Demand-pull inflation is the upward pressure on prices that follows a shortage in supply, a condition that economists describe as "too many dollars chasing too few goods."

330 I haven't seen this on the news yet, but last night, the 5th Circuit affirmed the injunction directing DHS to reinstate the remain-in-Mexico policy (aka MPP)

331 He's too busy launching f bombs and talking about the last election instead of the way forward.

Posted by: Marcus T at December 14, 2021 08:52 AM

There is no way forward without addressing the stolen election.

Imagine a Super Bowl where the refs explicitly threw the game in favor of one team. Not talking "questionable" calls, but outright cheating that everyone saw. And it was known that it was because the league hated that team and was not going to let them win a Super Bowl again.

The solution is not to ignore that and plan "a way forward". The solution is to address the cheating and make sure that never happens again.

If you ignore it and agree that it is acceptable, there is no way forward. There is no possible way to win when you accept that the rules are rigged against you.

332 Walmart and CVS are trying to take over primary care. It will be the single biggest healthcare disaster since 2020.

You mean Dollar General is taking over health care, right? CVS closing 900 stores across the country. Dollar General taking over the structures.

Walmart is another story. Alarming.

Healthcare for the elites only!

334 New York State could very well elect a Republican Governor next year. If not for New York City voters in 2018, the excellent Republican Marc Molinaro would have been Governor there. Now he's running against the woke Antonio Delgado in the heavily Republican Ulster County for a Congressional seat.

335 175...Zephyr Teachout is a far leftist lawyer. She lost the last political race which she was in and she decided to pull out of the race for AG this time because Letitia James is going to stay as AG-presumably to go after Trump and family-and not run for Governor.

338 Were I in charge of a State, City, or heck, even rhe President, my approach to COVID at this point would be identical. Vaccines have been available for free, everywhere, for long enough at this point, that if anyone hasn't gotten it, it's because they've chosen not to. We can't protect people from their own decisions forever. If, indeed, the unvaxxed are at risk from COVID, that's their choice. Time to move on. Pandemic over. If people die, they die. That's cold-hearted, perhaps, but it's reality. Move. The. Fuck. On.

339 Jared Polis is up for re-election in 11 months. He, or one of his advisors, sees the writing on the wall and knows that vax mandates are low-hanging fruit for the picking during campaign season. He's vulnerable anyway as native Coloradans are free-spirited people and get increasingly suspect of transplants (like Polis) every day. Mandates that Polis extended over and over have devastated a lot of businesses like restaurants that employed native residents.

340 As your employer, if you choose to not get vaccinated, you'll have to look for a new job. But you're not fired, it's your choice.

As your employer, if you choose to not suck my penis, you'll have to look for a new job. But you're not fired, it's your choice.

As your employer, if you choose to self-identify as female or black or anything I don't like, you'll have to look for a new job. But you're not fired, it's your choice.

As your employer, if you choose to have an abortion, you'll have to look for a new job. But you're not fired, it's your choice.

And suddenly every leftist is completely on the side of employers, what a coincidence!

341 Vax mandates need to be challenged on 4th amendment grounds. Medical decisions are private matters, and enforcing a mandate to take a "vaccine" that's no more effective than a seasonal flu shot requires an unwarranted search of a citizen's person and effects. State governments are still subject to the 4th amendment and have no business trying to dictate medical decisions - especially for a treatment of such dubious effectiveness.
