That style of hat would eventually evolve into the tricorne as turning up the brim would become standardized on the three sides.
I don't know if true but I've read that there was alot of rain in the period [global cooling!] and the tricorne shape acted as gutters for not getting the rainwater all over your head -- especially beaver-fur ones that shed the water well. Breitbart:
"Bonchie," a blogger at RedState, summarized conservative reaction to Cheney's speech and the released Meadows texts: Are we to believe that Donald Trump orchestrated "what happened on January 6th" but didn't let his own son in on it? Or that Trump didn't share his plans with any of his closest confidantes in the media? That belabors belief, especially since Meadows himself responded to those texts in agreement, noting that he was coordinating with the president on how to respond. It is abundantly clear at this point that whatever you think of Donald Trump, what happened on January 6th was as much a surprise to him as anyone else. The idea that he hatched and led some master plan in an attempt to seize power and remain in office never made any sense given what we know. Besides, it makes even less sense when you consider that it.. didn't happen. Normally, when you want to enact a coup, you actually, you know, enact a coup. Instead, Trump denounced what occurred, even if it was a few hours later than some would have liked. He then left the White House without any objections. Come to think of it, we wouldn't want any of our current political class, or the so-called "elite," to make the change to Pak protector. We don't need them living vastly longer and having enormous physical strength. They'd get smarter, but then they'd only use that intelligence to protect their own bloodline -- either their literal family, or (if they were childless) their extended "family" in Congress or the media.

I do enjoy the art from this time and place. The style, like Vermeer, has plenty of detail and appropriate color. In this case the floor and walls show the well-made but muted browns of the comfortable set. The sheen and light silvery gown focuses the viewer's attention on the woman and the center of the painting. The room flows from her image.
I also enjoy the images of the culture these paintings show. These vignettes are like puzzles that slowly reveal more as the details are put together. Thanks, CBD. Posted by: JTB at December 14, 2021 10:13 AM (7EjX1) Posted by: RedMindBlueState at December 14, 2021 10:13 AM (m+jkK) 201

Then Obama bought out all the student loans, ensuring the banks collected their profit up front with no further risk. Of course this was sold to the dipshit Dem constituents as "taking the profits away from the banks". The taxpayers have been set up for a good hard reaming on student loans for about a decade now. I recommend lubing up, because it ain't gonna be fun. Unless you work for The Bulwark or something, and are therefore into that shit. Greetings:
I killed my Sister's canary. I was home alone after school and thought I could teach him to perch on my finger. When I took him out of the cage he flew off in my sister's bedroom. To get control of him (Dickie Bird) I threw my sister's terrycloth robe over him. That's when he went to cuttlebone heaven. I put him back in his cage and skedaddled to the after school yard. My sister found him when she got home from school but left him there. She didn't seem much disturbed other than wanting someone to remove his remains. Dad did the honors when he got home from work. He was as close to distraught as he ever allowed himself to go. Many years later over a couple of "balls and beers", I confessed to being the culprit. "I knew." was my Father's rejoinder. Late stage study results have finally been released for Pfizer's Paxlovid, the anti-viral pill designed by the pharmaceutical giant to protect against severe COVID and death. And the results showed that the drug might be more effective than Pfizer's industry-standard vaccine at protecting against the severe illness and death caused by COVID.
The number to keep in mind: the drug reduced hospitalization and death by 89% in high-risk patients, if taken within three days of symptom onset. -Not surprising considering it blocks the same protease as IVM. Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at December 14, 2021 10:59 AM (E8EsG) 442

Who would have thought that? How the FDA / CDC has handled potential treatments such as HQC and IVM is nothing short of grotesque. People on ventilators can still recover after IVM treatment (there was a recent case where a family member sued to give her dad IVM when he was on a vent; the hospital's delaying tactics made it look like the hospital just wanted the guy to die in the hospital. Eventually the judge forced the hospital to obey and the dad began to quickly recover after IVM was administered.) Posted by: Revenant at December 14, 2021 11:12 AM (1JtC2) 461
