The Morning Rant

A FEW RANDOM OBSERVATIONS

Lin Wood is the Gloria Allred of the right. Fight me.

------------

Because I was focused so much on the Rittenhouse trial, I did not follow the Ahmaud Arbery case. Apparently, three white guys killed a black guy and all three were tried and found guilty of murder. They all are now facing life imprisonment. The disappointment on the left over this outcome is palpable. It's like, "damnit, the jury system worked. The white guys got what was coming to them. What are we going to do with all of these pallets of bricks, baseball bats, and Molotov cocktails? And somebody get Soros on the phone and tell him cancel all of the buses."

------------

Whether vaccines and masks are effective is not important. What's important is that they're mandatory.

------------

Here's a biology lesson for our friends on the left:

A dude in a dress is not a woman.
A dude in a dress and a wig is not a woman.
A dude in a dress and a wig and lipstick is not a woman.
A dude in a dress and a wig and lipstick and fake breasts is not a woman.
A dude in a dress and a wig and lipstick and fake breasts and no penis is not a woman.

------------

Looters loot because the cost of looting is low. They hardly ever get caught, and if by some chance they are, they will either be released or pay some minimal penalty. The only way to stop looting is to shoot looters while they're looting. This sounds harsh and barbaric, but the alternative is worse: mandating that business owners to be perpetual victims, and abandoning law-abiding citizens to mob violence. That's the real barbarism. We're on our way to this, and, eventually, this.

------------

This is pretty stupid:

meme 20210600 902.jpg

I remember my mother both reusing aluminum foil and saving bacon grease, so I was about to write a big screed about how fact-checking nowadays is garbage. then I realized it's probably fake. The evidence, both contemporary and historical, that reusing aluminum foil and saving bacon grease are both common practices, is abundant. So someone is having a bit of fun with Photoshop here. Regardless, I still think fact-checking nowadays is garbage.

------------

The headline of an article on the site of a local TV station reads: Local Churches Give Back To Families In Need This Thanksgiving. This struck me as odd. What, exactly, do they mean by give 'back'? Did the churches somehow steal food from some poor families? Are they making restitution? Because when you give something back to someone, that implies that person had prior ownership. And he either gave it to you previously, or you took (i.e. stole) it from him. "People are poor because things were stolen from them" is a very poisonous view and leads to all sorts of mischief and injustice.

------------

I spent some time on Thanksgiving doing what I haven't done for in a long time, that is, watching an NFL game. In this case, it was the Raiders-Cowboys game, played in Dallas. Notably absent were the usual audience shots I was used to seeing, cheering crowds, fans decked out in goofy attire, faces painted with their team's colors, and holding up signs and props (like that 'D' fence thing), etc. I knew the stadium was full, because sometimes I'd see the crowd in the background, like when the camera would have to follow the ball kicked on a punt return, but I thought the lack of close-up crowd shots was just odd.

The game was in Dallas, in the free state of Texas, and by 'free', I mean no mask mandates, and people generally don't wear masks. So the stadium was filled with happy, unmasked people enjoying themselves, living normal life. Somebody at the network made the deliberate, considered decision that close-up shots of happy, unmasked people enjoying themselves would not be shown to a nationwide audience. Why his decision was made I leave as an exercise for the reader.

Monday Who Dis: Usually for the male 'who dis', I try to snag a shirtless pic, which may be hard to come by with earlier actors. But with bodybuilder Steve Reeves, I had the opposite problem. I couldn't find many photos of him where he *didn't* have his shirt off. And for those that did, he was wearing some scanty tunic whose only purpose was to showcase his beefcakey charms. Hubba hubba. He is perhaps best known for playing opposite Yugoslavian hottie Sylva Koscina in the B-grade spear-and-sandal films Hercules, Hercules Unchained and Hercules' Big Arms.

85 Animal fats were used to make explosives during world war 2.0, I think they were getting 3c a pound from their grocer. Or $3 a pound today, say.

Thing was, bacon drippings or frying oils were also rationed, along with everything else. I doubt many felt very inclined to cash in.

You could own five (5) tires for your car. No more, or a $10,000 fine. Pearl Harbor was December 7th '41 this happened by February '42 or something like that. Some people were smart enough to stock up on tires, knowing rubber was cut off, probably found themselves fooked with a bunch of tires they couldn't legally own.

Local Churches Give Back To Families In Need This Thanksgiving. This struck me as odd. What, exactly, do they mean by give 'back'? Did the churches somehow steal food from some poor families?

The Left's view is that any money they don't control is stolen. There should be no charity save that which is dispensed by the Left's minions.

If people give to their churches, it's because it was compelled from them. Churches are sitting on huge amounts of money. In each church building, there's a vault full of gold coins that would shame Scrooge McDuck. If a church parts with so much as a nickel, it's to compel the poor to follow their absurd dogmas. The tax deductability of contributions is a subsidy and is unconstitutional.

"Separation of church and state" means that your religious opinions can never intrude into the public square. Sure, you can have your silly superstitious rites, but far away and in secret. Otherwise, you damn well better bake that cake and abort that baby.

My mom told the story (she was a teen) that she'd had a date, but back then you couldn't get (or afford) leather shoes - they were making soles out of composite materials like cardboard. Of all criminals, looters are the most gutless. They can be deterred by most any sort of unbreakable obstacle.

It was only after they removed the value level to qualify as a crime that looting became so rampant. Don't see it most anywhere else because the laws are still in effect. Except maybe in some blue shitholes.

Case in point, after the 2020 steal, people would post the old Stalin quote, "It's not who votes that count's, it' who counts the votes."

Facebook would tag this as false and "misinformation."

well enough people probably complained and showed them that, yes, he indeed say this fucktards.

So Facebook being the fascist assholes they are continued to label it as false and misinformation because apparently Stalin didn't say this in relation to US Presidential Elections.

Except for the cost, don't sweat the cataract surgery. You'll be amazed at the difference...night and day, colors are more vivid and vibrant. And if you've worn glasses most of your life, like me, the added benefit is no more glasses, at least for long distance, unless you pony up for for the more expensive lens inserts. 223 The guys that blasted that "jogger" - life is a bit extreme for a sentence, and they were overcharged - their biggest mistakes would be if they tried to detain him (this is actually unclear) since they didn't witness his crime. If they'd just followed the guy until the cops showed up without waving guns around - even if they'd then shot him if he charged them - they'd be fine..

As it stands, the "jogger" could have shot at them if he was armed and probably gotten a slap on the wrist, if anything.

It's really easy with something like this to get into a situation where the unarmed party isn't committing a crime by trying to disarm the armed party, but the armed party isn't committing a crime for blasting them for it.

But don't buy the media narrative that the guy was minding his own business; that's total bullshit, and he's most likely the cause of a long string of thefts, in addition to the months of video evidence of trespassing.

With the title "you only have time to grab one", I assume this is SHTF time. So I'd assume there's other considerations besides personal choice. Which one are you most likely to find parts for? Or, swappable magazines you pluck off of cadavers in the street? Easiest to find ammo?

That's really the only reason I have a Glock 19. Like the Ford F150 of handguns. I know that every single dead thug I come across is going to have plenty of spare parts for my gun, heck, probably some nicely pimped ones out there. And of course, no shortage of full mags I can put to good use immediately. It's by far the least favorite hand gun I own, but could be the most practical.

More seriously, the FAL in inch or metric in that era was probably the best all around rifle. The MAS 49/56 would be my second choice as it saw duty in some of the worst of conditions and functioned but the ammo for the issued rifle is a bit inferior to the 7.62 Nato. Nowadays, the AR 10 pattern is preferable because of ease in changing sights including scopes etc.

268 I think the answer to the gun question is this; I'd grab the one with the box magazine.

On reusing foil... sometimes depending on what was on it. If I line a pan and there's little or no grease but there are leftovers I'll wrap them in that foil. Same goes for plastic baggies. If they're not skanked up I'll reuse them for non-food things.

As far as bacon grease goes... we have saved it and made suet balls for the birds during the winter. Leave it outside when it gets cold and you can pretty much cut it into chunks and roll them in bird seed. We sometimes just throw the whole mess in a used pie pan. (And then reuse that again for the birds all season.)

295 Heh on saving aluminum foil etc. I still have to force myself to throw things away. But I have gotten to the point of, if there are no screws to take something apart and look at it, it goes right in the trash when it breaks, plus a consideration of my time.

I still have some mental block because of my perceived environmental impact and feeling like I shouldn't toss something into landfill if it could be salvaged, even if I don't know how or have time to try to salvage it right then.

298 What happens if you don't enroll in Medicare right before turning 65? Is there a penalty? Or is it, snooze you lose?
Posted by: olddog

If you're late and for every year you do not sign up for Medicare you pay a 10% penalty.
Met some vets at the VA hospital while working who retired to the Philippines and didn't sign up until they got cancer and need their VA medical.
Yeah... 10%/year on top of the rate... from then on...

Sign up 3 months before or after and your birthday month (total 7 months) to avoid the BS.

No penalty for not signing up for Part B if you have a health insurance policy provided by your employer. If your employment ends, you have six months to sign up for Part B. I'm not a Medicare expert, so ask a professional or Medicare for advice.

300 Lin Wood is an a$$hole. He got some cred for negotiating a no-brainer settlement for the Sandmann kid.
---
I'm pretty sure he f'ed that up case on a technicality, and had to eat a nominal settlement or get hit with malpractice.

I say that because of his post-settlement behavior. 1) He threatened the CNN fellow for mocking him by implying it was $25k-- and did nothing. 2) All the other defamation cases from that went "poof" 3) his post-election insanity 4) he then carpetbags up to WI where he's neither licensed nor does he have any criminal law experience.
That's not what a guy sitting on 40% of several million would do-- That's a guy scrambling to pay bills.

For a conspiracy, I'll add he agreed to scuttle the Trump legal case through outlandish allegations in exchange for no action from the GA bar for his malpractice in the Sandmann case.

Medicare is no less than three months before the beginning of the month of your birthday. Coverage begins at the start of the 65th birthday month. As my birthday is in April, I "signed up" in January.

Social Security's age of full retirement date is a moving target. It now is somewhere between 66 years old and 67 years old. It is easy enough to find at their website.

315 About that ubiquitous Stalin and Flunky airbrushed photo... I've always had a hunch that it was airbrushed the other way around. That they pasted a guy into the picture to have him be seen With Stalin, because he was temporarily in favor for some reason. Look at the picture with the dude still in it. There's a halo around him where the water doesn't look quite right.

I dunno, it doesn't matter. Stalin was still a grade A ichiban top shelf piece of yak shit, either way.

Regardless, that photo pairing would be great for a spoof ad for the Gurgle Pixel 6 smartphone, which is advertised as having the capability of editing "extraneous objects" out of pictures you take with it. Their ad shows some wimmenz posing in front of a scenic fountain, while some skateboard puke rolls through in the middle distance. With the P-phone's magic, though, skateboard puke is disappeared, exactly like in the Stalin pix.

326 116 My mom told the story (she was a teen) that she'd had a date, but back then you couldn't get (or afford) leather shoes - they were making soles out of composite materials like cardboard. She was waiting at a bus stop, it was pouring rain and her shoes literally dissolved. Also said the girls back then would take their mascara pens and draw lines up the backs of their legs so it looked like they had nylon stockings - totes unavailable.

And the rest of the world thought we lived like Rockefellers by comparison to them. They weren't altogether wrong.

329 Indeed, you do not know shit about the Arbery case.

Three white guys were looking for an unknown person who'd been breaking into buildings in the area. They came across Arbery, who was, at the time they found him, trespassing. They spoke to him. He charged at them and attempted to pull a shotgun out of the hands of one of the white guys. He got deaded.

In a sane country this would be ruled a suicide. In a non-traitorous country those three men would be clapped on the back and get free drinks for a day or two in a local bar.

Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder for George Floyd overdosing on drugs George Floyd swallowed entirely of George Floyd's free will. James Fields was convicted of murder for panicking when a mob of antifa pointed rifles at his car and threw rocks at it, and having an obese landwhale have a heart attack in his general vicinity. The McMichael father and son and their neighbor have been convicted of murder for looking for a criminal and finding one. Kyle Rittenhouse was not convicted of murder but it took them two weeks of prosecutorial lying and three days of jury-jabbering to figure out what should have taken two minutes.
