Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant'Whose Streets? OUR Streets!' I wanted to comment on what I considered to tbe the two dumbest lefty takes on the Rittenhouse trial: 1. "He crossed state lines." 2. "He should not have been there." Only now I can't talk about #1 because ace's magnificent take-down in the right sidebar ("...We're literally hearing this seriously offered as Real Crime by every shitlib in the media and by every shitlib on Twitter.") But #2 is insisted upon as if it's some Moral Imperative which violation invalidated all of Rittenhouse's actions that night. We can discuss whether it was *wise* for him to be there. If I were in his position, I might've decided to stay far away from a city torn up by rioting, but it's not that he had no *right* to be there. I mean, this is America, right? You can go where you want, short of trespassing on private property. Which the left doesn't believe. It is their position that it is they, not us, who own the streets and all public space, and it is they who determines who is allowed access to public space and who isn't. This came out in some of Binger's arguments. It was, like, "your claim of self defense is invalid because you were in a bad neighborhood. If you hadn't been there, none of this would've happened." Yes, and if the thugs didn't chase him, point a gun at him and bash him with a skateboard, none of this would have happened, either. And what's the big deal? Didn't they spend all summer telling us that the protests were "peaceful"? So what was there to be afraid of? Then they argue that Rittenhouse's presence "provoked" them. This is the standard antifa/BLM excuse for initiating violence. But you know, if I see a man with a gun who may want to shoot me, my reaction is to run the other way, not run at him and try to hit him with my skateboard. The fact of the matter is, the radical left is whining because they lost a couple three of their foot soldiers that night, and also that Rittenhouse's defense may act as a deterrent to future "direct actions", as they call them. I notice that there were protests after the verdict, but not rioting, at least not like 2020. These guys don't fear the police, nor the judicial system. What they fear most is victims who fight back. As Larry Correia recently said: This trial isn’t about this trial. It’s about how the left simply can’t abide the idea of regular people not putting up with their shit. Currently most law-abiding, gun owning, other-than-leftist, Americans actively avoid giant flaming lefty temper tantrums...But if more regular people say fuck it, I’m not going to stand down or hide, then more rioters would get shot, which would certainly make rioting less attractive, and then the left would lose a valuable tool in their tool box. Crazy violent temper tantrums (fueled by a helpful lying ass media) are useful to the left. Without their gang of useful idiots being able to destroy shit with impunity, who else would scare the shit out of juries? Who else would ensure everyone trapped in cities always toes the line?I remember when BLM tried to demonstrate in a red area near me. I think it was part of their "Rural America, we're coming for YOU!" program. But it didn't work out for the quite like they had planned. Area residents came out in force, lining both sides of the roadsand chanting "Whose streets? OUR streets!" at the masked black bloc thugs until they retreated. We need more of this. We need to remember that there are more of us then there are of them. How the Left Views Rittenhouse: Talcum X Has Thots: SCIENCE! Who Dis: Photo 2 Photo 3 (leggy!) Photo 4 Photo 5 (busty!) 497 Knock them old white people the. fuck. out! Social media post of one Darrell Brooks, 38 yr old black man, dated sometime in 2020. So whatever minimizing of his intentions the press and government officials attempt to do, remember this. When and if the vile agitating press gets their way and racial strife becomes social breakdown, each and every person with a press credential should fear for their lives. They've earned at least that. Posted by: OneEyedJack at November 22, 2021 11:23 AM (MFphb) Posted by: OneEyedJack at November 22, 2021 11:24 AM (MFphb) 8

There is speculation that Goldberg and Hayes quit Fox News because they were being eased out anyway, and wanted a dramatic flounce to make it look like it was their idea. I believe they were on the way out.
I note that Fox asked Donna Brazile to stay, but she left anyway, at least according to her. If true, that means that Fox asked Brazile to stay, and Goldberg and Hayes were being forced out. Make of that what you will. Either way, Fox can f*** itself. Posted by: pep at November 22, 2021 11:28 AM (ZsR3z) 30

This is why it's so necessary to stand up to the "He shouldn't have been there" meme. It's conceding more ground to those who would set themselves up as our concentration camp guards. BLM is already brownshirting for pretty much every leftist cause now. We can't be stopping our own people from fighting against them. Cliff Robertson is one of those actors who were just thought of as "pretty boys," I think, playing JFK in PT109 and so forth. Then he played the title role in the SF classic Charly, about a retarded adult man who volunteers for an IQ-increase experiment -- and it works. For a while.
Earlier, he also played the alcoholic male lead in the TV version of Days of Wine and Roses, which later proved such a stunning vehicle for Jack Lemmon. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at November 22, 2021 11:29 AM (txdEq) 39

While you see many on the Right shoot down #1 very quickly, they agree with #2. One thing that's changed is that elected officials used to pretend to respect our jury system - even when a case went differently from the way they wanted, they would at least state that the decision of the jury needed to be respected. (Biden did that, ever so grudgingly.)
No more - elected officials feel free to denounce jury verdicts that they don't like. Screw the jury! They obviously intend to set up People's Courts, where little Vyshinskys will know what verdict is required. Posted by: The ARC of History! at November 22, 2021 11:34 AM (I2/tG) 76

I'm getting pretty f***ing tired of 'Kyle had no business being there' arguments.
It's true that a 17 year old shouldn't have been there; it was unwise. That doesn't mean he doesn't have a RIGHT to be there. The argument is analogous to that offered for rape victims who were dressed in revealing clothing in a bad section of town. They certainly have a right to be there, but it's unwise. In that case, of course, the left takes the exact opposite position to what they're taking for Rittenhouse. Posted by: pep at November 22, 2021 11:36 AM (ZsR3z) 97

Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 22, 2021 11:41 AM (csEWM) I had a chance to go through an older cemetery this weekend, with a lot of burials from the late 19th century. It's sobering to see how many child burials there are. One that stood out was a mother and an 18 month old child buried together - they probably died of the same fever at the same time. Like hell he shouldn't. He had the means, the ability, the desire, and the RIGHT. When the State has abandoned its supposed exclusive role in policing citizens, protecting their property, and defending their lives, then they've pretty much abdicated their position to other, lawful citizens or militia to fill the void. In my mind the County Sheriff should step in and deputize any and all who step forward on behalf of the community to stop the rioting when police stand down or fail to do the job. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 22, 2021 11:51 AM (KZzsI) Yeah she's not at all the dimwitted sort. Probably if she tends that way she would be more of a full on satanism follower. Back in high school I went to a friend's house and meandered over to the bookcases to check out the books as was my wont in those days. I picked out a book with a cool cover and opened it. After a page or two I practically dropped it in horror. I put it back very quickly. I have never again just opened a book off someone's bookshelf if I didn't know what it was about. Turns out said friend's parents were very serious satanists and that was one of their ritual books. That was in the 70's when there was a satanism panic going on. The friend told me that actual devotees of the practice didn't go around advertising their beliefs. They laid low and melted into the rest of the community. Which described her folks completely. I think they are more open these days and it has a certain cache. Posted by: Just Lily at November 22, 2021 12:05 PM (/WbZC) 346

JFKs assassination was my first sight of the leftie lack of reality.
Yes it was terrible and he was a decent guy all in all but the lefties acted like Jesus had been just crucified again. He had become one of their first late twentieth century Royalty (and that btw was done directly by the media) and they expected to become elevated along with him as he ascended to the heavens while still alive. It really was overblown in my view. And looking back you can see the beginnings of their current cults of personality full blown in the US seemingly for the first time. (at least since FDR) Oh Yeah. And let's not forget that Nixon was hated like Trump is today. For a lot less reason and some of it deserved but they were absolutely rabid about hatred for him. Meanwhile they let LBJ get away with murder until he started sending their kids to Vietnam then suddenly asian wars and trying to recover the Colonies lost by Europe during WWII lost it's appeal. Did "cancer" even have close to the same meaning in 1632? As for "wolf," I'm reminded of the full name of lupus, which translates to "disease of the red wolf" because of a flush or rash that's often visible on the victim. But I doubt the state of medicine in 1632 included knowledge of autoimmune diseases.

btw finally saw Dune (the last possible day on HBO Max!)
was EXCELLENT I'm sure you guys have covered this! but wow. Villeneuve did just a terrific job with the source material. even Zendaya was ... fine I don't particularly like the Lynch version - it's fine, a hot mess, not really related that much to the books tho to me. there's something about certain SciFi books that is otherworldly, and Dune is a great example of this. not "nitty gritty" type of sci fi (which is also great! Fallen Angels or Firefly is the nitty gritty type). it's HARD to adapt that alien sensibility (the "very different" meaning not the alien-alien meaning) and still have it be engaging, but this Dune really did it. If anyone could adapt Book of the Long Sun, I now think Villeneuve could (not that that wouldn't have nitty gritty parts to it) Posted by: BlackOrchid at November 22, 2021 12:20 PM (j9HX3) 452

Watching the Arbery closing arguments. Still say acquittal is a possibility here. These defendants did not chase down and murder some innocent black jogger. They spotted a known criminal, who'd been seen multiple times on surveillance cams in a neighbor's under-construction residence, late at night, and they tried to stop him. Arbery got pissed about being followed and tried to attack one of the neighbors who had been following him, and he was shot during the struggle for the gun.
