Good morning, kids. Thursday and the jury is still out in the Rittenhouse show trial. While there were some encouraging signs, there were the depressing ones including the actions of both the judge and, to be charitable, less than stellar performance of the defense. The only thing that keeps hope alive aside from the original evidence before the magical last second drone footage, is the utterly inept, flaming clown-boner parade that is the prosecution. Sadly, since the object of this entire exercise is the public execution of an enemy of The State, none of that matters in the eyes of same. That is if you believe that the outcome is a foregone conclusion, and I would not poo-poo that assumption. Kyle Rittenhouse should never have been indicted in the first place, but the fact that he was underscores the fact that this is indeed a show trial.

Even in supposedly normal times, these kind of things are never open and shut, cut and dry, including the ones that are, or at least should have been. O.J. Simpson, anyone? But more alarming than that local crime story, which had national implications - because of our ageless, tireless, irrepressible friend "race in America" trotted out yet again for this seemingly melanin-free case - look at the actions of Cheap Justice John Roberts in literally with a red pen re-writing the 100% unconstitutional Obamacare mandate and declaring it a tax and therefore kosher.

The criminal justice system has been and always was for sure flawed, because we and our elected officials are and always will be human beings (Max Bialystock's retort about actors "have you ever eaten with one?!" notwithstanding). But its basic underpinnings, guidelines and proscriptions were still easy to see and not transgress, provided even a minimum of the ethics and moral fiber to do so were there to begin with. Mark Levin wrote a seminal work about "how the Supreme Court is destroying America" and while the republic has been slowly - then all at once on January 6th, 2021 - strangled to death from multiple fronts, arguably the corruption of the judiciary dating back to Marbury v. Madison was the first mortal blow. Even the worst decisions in SCOTUS' checkered history attempted to have some sort of veneer of a fig leaf of a pretense of constitutionality behind them. But, I would argue that it was Roberts' red pen that was the last straw; an overt brass-knuckled Mike Tyson fist in the face to the American people and the rule of a just and stable law.

So, now we have police who stand aside as their cities burn and citizens are beaten or worse, justices and judges who legislate from the bench and act as prosecutors (Emmet Sullivan), federal law enforcement and national security agents railroading and persecuting political enemies of the left including ordinary citizens either of their own accord or at the behest of whoever is running the executive branch. That is, when they are not committing willful acts of insubordination up to and including sedition and even treason against a chief executive that is not leftist/globalist.

In the immortal words of Arthur Kirkland esq., as played by Al Pacino in And Justice For All

The intention of justice is to see that the guilty people are proven guilty and that the innocent are freed. Simple, isn't it? Only it's not that simple. However, it is the defense counsel's duty to protect the rights of the individual, as it is the prosecution's duty to uphold and defend the laws of the State. Justice for all. Only we have a problem here. And you know what it is? Both sides wanna win. We wanna win. We wanna win regardless of the truth. And we wanna win regardless of justice, regardless of who's guilty or innocent. Winning is everything!"

In our case, the "we" poor old Arthur is referring to is not the royal "we" since it is plain as day, at least to me, that there is no equivocation. There are no shades of gray. The "we" is the anti-American Leftist/globalist enterprise. They crave power by any and every means necessary. The only difference between now and 1979, when And Justice For All was released, is that the American Left is now out in the open about it. At least those who are honest about who and what they are and what they want.

Yet the Enemy is in some sort of intermediate stage of metamorphosis. It's hypocrisy wrapped in a cocoon of projection as the chest-bursting acid of reality reveals the Jame Gumb death's head moth about to emerge. On the one hand, freaks and monsters like Rustoleum Jeri-Curl Nikole Hannah Jones and Ibram X. Krement condemn America as a land built and founded on slavery after it was stolen from the indigenous natives and then raped for its oil and coal on the backs of white slave traders. On the other hand, you have execrable criminals like Malig-Nancy Pelosi, Schiff-for-Brains and of course Joe and Kamala - aka "Shits and Giggles" - crying about "preserving our precious democracy" from the insurrectionists who attempted to overthrow it on January 6th (that they themselves orchestrated the "riot" with the help of the FBI is not to be mentioned, of course).

As Huey Long, himself a megalomaniacal Democrat tyrant (but I repeat myself) who fancied himself an emperor even as he proclaimed "every man a king" is purported to have said, "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in an American flag." And "Sure, we'll have fascism in this country and we'll call it anti-fascism."

Give that man a kewpie doll!

Meanwhile as you ponder that, not only is Zhou Bai-Din strangling our fossil fuel industry and driving up the cost of basically everything, you'll be happy to know that he's at least tapping into our Strategic Petroleum Reserve -- and shipping the oil to the Chi-Coms.

Not to worry though. While cleaning out the freezer at some lab in Pennsylvania, two vials of smallpox were discovered. Yes, the same smallpox that wiped out millions throughout human history and that only two vials are supposed to be left. And neither of them in a freezer in PA next to the Birdseye frozen cream corn.

Better late than never, I guess. But once this shit is entrenched in the system - teachers, principals, school boards, departments of education, not to mention the nation's culture - it is going to take a massive effort to expel it from the system.

It's also not what it's for. Dumping from the SPR to cause a short-term price decline is bad policy, and we've done it many times. It's there for defense in case of war when our supplies are cut off and we're fighting for our lives.

I have a small cash reserve in my sock drawer. I call it my "stormy day fund." I have a rainy day fund in the bank, but just in case, for that ultimate "oh, shit, I need money and I need it now, no questions" moment, I have a reserve. That's what the SPR is. It's an "oh shit" contingency. Frittering it away outside of a time of war to cause a small price movement to score political points is exactly what you *don't* use an emergency fund for. If you do, it's just a credit card.

The floating of the idea of her as a SCOTUS justice was just that sort of carrot to try and get her to resign on her own. I think they're convinced that it's Kamala dragging down Biden. It's something they can potentially control and influence to help explain Biden's apocalyptic approval numbers, so they're reaching.

They're not thinking critically (Kamala is the least of their problems), but they are trying to do anything to help because they seem to think that voting still matters.

They're not going to make it feasible for gulf refineries to upgrade for handling the sweet if the Keystone is not completed. Would charges have been brought in SC? I'm not sure if they would have been brought here in AZ. We've had people walk with no charges here for self defense shootings that were a lot less clear than the Rittenhouse situation. If an AZ prosecutor had charged a Rittenhouse-type shooter here, there would have been a public uproar.

Child "transition" shit is far worse than that. You can make an argument that buying into an adult's delusions sets him on a path likely to end in failure, depression and suicide is bad policy and should be avoided.

Kids are different. Kids are unsophisticated and mentally incapable by definition. Kids also want to please their adults. Encouraging this "transition" nonsense in children is far worse than doing so for adults. What so many are doing isn't even responding to some signal, it's implanting a signal that they then respond to. Yesterday's tomboy is today's trans male, and that's a disaster. And anything a kid does - a girl who wants to run with the boys, or a boy who wants a toy vacuum cleaner - can be identified as "trans" and therefore kick off a life-destroying sequence of events.

It's one of the darker forms of evil.

I think we have to assume that the 2024 election result has already been determined. Just like the 2020 election result was determined ahead of time. This is about making sure they have someone in place whom the majority of the country believes could have won the election. Yeah, it's absurd. "Capitalism" (really just an amalgam of property rights, private trade and contract law) is incompatible with slavery and always has been. A transaction requires consent.

What is compatible with slavery? Most of the rest. Socialism certainly is, and demands it. Mercantilism doesn't demand slavery but it works just fine with it.

I'm in a red state. I was recently at my dentist's office and my hygienist and I were talking. She has a granddaughter about 10 years old whom she takes to school a couple days a week. Her granddaughter has been "teaching" her about pronoun usage, and how to use them with regard to gender identity. This young girl is now also unsure about what gender she wants to be. If we think this garbage isn't having an effect on kids, it's our downfall. I was absolutely horrified to hear this story. Just an average young girl in a nice, conservative state...with her head now filled with gender identity, pronouns, and questioning her own sex.

Think of Hollywood and "beauty" magazines and "fashion" shows where they teach girls and young women at an early age that "unless you look like this" you're "ugly". Back in the day there was a game called "North Atlantic '86" which was a NATO/Warsaw Pact combat sim. One of its features was that you could save the game and the quit. Upon quitting, you could "play as the other side" which would let you see where their forces were.

But what can not be debated is that the scene was chaotic, incendiary (in more than one way), and life-threatening. Set aside individual moments and look at the whole. The average juror sat at home as the streets of Kenosha burned, out of fear. The jury should not be permitted to ignore their own intrinsic fear of what could happen in such an environment and the fact that they, themselves, also acted out of fear for their own safety. Their actions took a different form, cowering in place in their homes, than did Kyle. But their fear was as real as his. They should have been brought to face that reality. He truly feared for his life, as they did.

And this is the number that proves that high oil and gas prices ARE this administrations fault. Because demand is always so high worldwide, oil prices are very sensitive when we are right at the edge of oversupply/undersupply. Trump helped push the markets into oversupply, which sent prices tumbling. Now the Biden admin has managed to cut 1.4 million BOPD from US production, and that was enough to push the world into undersupply. Prices will not just be high, but continue to rise as long as this persists. An eventual price of $200 per barrel (roughly $10 per gallon of gas at the pump) is not impossible.

In fact, the hard core leftists even want this - but its starting to down on some of the less stupid ones that they are creating the conditions for a massive revolt against them.

It's expensive to send tankers through the Panama canal, and the big ones don't fit anyways. They don't want any new pipelines, either.

So almost *all* gasoline in California comes from Chinese owned refineries in the Philippines and other out of the way Pacific places that the enviros pay no attention. When anyone buys gasoline in California, they are paying for oil to be pumped out of the ground, shipped 12,000 miles to the Philippines, refined, and shipped 10,000 miles back to California. And of course at whatever price those owners (who are mostly NOT the major oil companies) want to charge.

They can just order "Arrest anyone who doesn't do XYZ" and call it hunky dorry.

Chevron/Richmond actually talked about moving its refining process over to China back in 2009 when their Modernization Project was first shut down due to the city extorting money from them at every turn. The Modernization Project fired back up in 2017.
They are trying to shutdown the refineries here where I'm at through new emission regulations that would turn the lights out on refineries. They're trying to do this through the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Our unions had to put up quite a fight last year to stop it. Membership is catching on and getting tired of that shit, especially when we are told to vote for the a-holes that want to kill the industry that feeds us.

582 If the Supreme Court does not have the power of judicial review (from Marbury v Madison), then there is nothing to stop the legislature from completely ignoring the Bill of Rights.
They could, and would, outlaw all firearms, censor "hate" speech, restrict religion, hold people without bail, trial contact, or lawyers, charge people for crimes they make up later, impose outrageous punishments, and ultimately condemn people with their entire families by majority vote of Congress, all without any possibility of legal recourse.
The courts would be rubber stamps for tyranny.

Yesterday in the Morning Rant, OregonMuse mentioned creating the legal framework being used by the current regime by over-support of law and order versus civil liberties.
The objection to judicial review is that on mega-steroids.

584 Only problem with the notion that these "confirmation" rumors is about Biden leaving, Kamala elevating to POTUS and then having to confirm a new VP is that Kamala Harris isn't just worse than Biden, she's a LOT worse. And clearly, everybody knows it. That's how, while doing literally nothing, her approval is a full 10 pts lower than Biden's. I don't see any way anyone is strategizing about how to proceed after Kamala Harris becomes President. The US federal government is officially KAPUT if they have to elevate that moron to POTUS.

There is a pending 2nd Amendment case right now.
Without judicial review, the Supreme Court has no power to do anything other than decide if the law is being properly applied. They could not declare it unconstitutional and void the law.
And so carry permits would remain forever subject to discretion and proof of need. I do not see how that would be a win.
