3 Sept 1878. That opening sequence is one of the greatest in TV history. I never fail to laugh at the moment when Felix spears Oscar's discarded cigar from the ground and holds it up to chastise him. I've heard that when Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, years later, did a stage production of Simon's The Sunshine Boys, Randall worked that bit of business into one scene, and the audience roared.

I haven't seen it in decades but I recall it being about Navy men in Spain.

154 From the link at 143. This is in Texas. So, not everything is better in Texas. And this goes to show that just moving to a "red state" does not solve all problems.

The day after the district claims they received Story's formal legal grievance, he and Clark were simultaneously arrested at their homes, KTVN reported. Both were charged with "disorderly conduct with intent to disrupt a meeting" and jailed overnight at the Williamson County Jail. When NBC-affiliate KXAN asked both the Round Rock board and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office why a warrant was issued for the two parents instead of a citation, they referred reporters to the RRISD Police Department, even though court documents show the sheriff's office was the arresting agency. In short, a school district's police department coordinated with the sheriff's department to arrest parents at their homes under orders from a school board.

Yes it is. And this is what we have to face now. There are a lot of people who have stated that conservatives need to get involved locally to make change. Well, this is an example of the consequences of that. The left uses their power to make lives miserable for people who are getting involved. Hopefully something good comes out of this and the local community there becomes outraged over these arrests. And is able to join together to put enough pressure on the local school board and law enforcement to get something to change.

157 Got this from one of my Leadership and Decision Making newsletters from LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/3HjMRf1

Today, November 13, is officially the World Kindness Day. World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement to highlight and encourage good deeds in every community. It also serves as a reminder to all that simple acts of kindness have power and that together, we can all work to create a kinder world. One can celebrate by pledging to do at least one intentional act of kindness on this day to benefit someone else. Together we can make a global difference one act at a time.

Of course, after this, the author then goes on to share a Chinese poem, one Tweeted by Elon Musk back on Nov 1. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't associate China with kindness.

Not like the left was hiding their intentions: When plugging his cap-and-trade energy plan in 2008, which was rejected by Congress a year later, President Obama himself stated that electricity rates would "necessarily skyrocket," which would "cost money" - costs that understandably would be passed on to consumers.

189 Not like the left was hiding their intentions: When plugging his cap-and-trade energy plan in 2008, which was rejected by Congress a year later, President Obama himself stated that electricity rates would "necessarily skyrocket," which would "cost money" - costs that understandably would be passed on to consumers.

Somewhat related in the news is that Yale University now has more administrators than undergraduate students. I lay odds that the utility is probably way over staffed with Commissars, diversity agents, sinecures, friends of politicians, gold bricks and the other artifacts of a sclerotic organization.

I still question the official narrative about the "vaccination" rates anywhere in the USA. They've been lying about every data point regarding COVID from the start. So I have no reason to believe they are telling the truth about "vaccine" rates. I think just like the "COVID death" numbers are ridiculously overcounted, the COVID "vaccine" rates are ridiculously overstated. For the same purpose that bogus polls are put out to change public opinion, I think they're putting out bogus "vaccine" rates to change public opinion and actions.

And you are correct, "anti-vaxxers" are not giving in, because they're "exhausted". My guess is that likely 90% of people going now to get a COVID "vaccine" for the first time are only doing it to save their jobs and livelihoods.

So I have no reason to think any of these "health" departments anywhere are correctly reporting "vaccination" rates.

262 I think Aldi's frozen turkeys were .79 a pound. They also sell pre-cooked turkey breast about two inches thick in about 1.5 pound packages for about ten dollars.

The Aldi's here only had butter ball turkeys at $1.38 a pound. I snagged one. Nearly a third more expensive than last year.

263 RE: "Giving in..."

Wife and in-laws all double vaxxed.
Would do anything for my wife. She wanted me to get vaxxed....
Almost did....until I realized and truly feel, that getting vaxxed would likely harm my ability to take care of her....now....no matter what.... I cannot get vaxxed....because nothing comes between my wife and I.
Also.... Personal autonomy and self ownership....f..k them. Will never get it. Die first.

I still visit this part of it daily, to shallow dive the number of beds occupied by Covid patients here.

There's some concern about it shutting down peoples' kidneys. The """fact checkers""" at the AP state that it's not the Remdesivir doing that but the Chinese Lung AIDS which leads me to believe there's justification for that concern.

266 The problem with Texas is that we have been complacent - so sure the freedom loving spirit of Texas would be shared by all that we took it for granted. Meanwhile, statists and control freaks moved in especially at the lower levels of government. So now all major cities are Blue and crumbling. Beto woke up a few people but that near disaster should have been a shock for everyone. It really wasn't until the shut down by our weak governor and the super freeze of last February that people started waking up. We're fighting here in Texas, too. We have a RINO for a Speaker of the House who must go!

I attended a 2500 person super spreader event a month ago. Lot's of hugs and kisses all around.

We all died.

No - honestly haven't heard of anyone getting/being sick.

273 "I attended a 2500 person super spreader event a month ago. Lot's of hugs and kisses all around. "

We attended the Flowertown Festival here two months ago.

Tens of thousands of folk walking shoulder to shoulder, unmasked.

Not a single up-tic in hospitalizations noted.

South Carolina...remember.

We're too stupid to get the shot, so we all died.

274 Hey remember when Anthony Fauci was going to be taken down for torturing beagles and monkeys?

News cycle over, nothing happened. Crickets from PETA.

Good times.

Had Michael Vick tortured dogs instead of had them fight each other, his NFL career may have turned out differently.

275 You know what I find "interesting"* about the insane amounts of money we've been spending on COVID and it's attendant economic disasters? This flood of Monopoly money has solidified gubmints ownership of media. I travel and drive quite a bit (used to be more) for work. I never got hooked on streaming radio, so outside of some podcasts, I listen to a lot of commercial radio. I would guesstimate with my calibrated ear that 25-30% of all advertising is now owned by The Ad Council and other statist orgs.
It's no wonder these duplicitous a-holes have no desire to do their jobs. Just keep flacking for Uncle Sugar boys, your checks won't bounce!

283 239 Here in my own state of SC, only 55.5% aare what is nebulously considered "fully vaxxed." It's been hovering between 51-55% for months and months. It indicates to me that no, we're not "exhausted and giving in."

284 2 bucks a pound - Frisco price...

I'm still waiting for all the Coved fearing people to keel over....
Sadly....
They won't.
In the beginning...ive been video recorded for not wearing a mask.... "For documentation." Their words....two different occasions...different people....different places.
They're still here....taking their masks off as fast as they can sit at down at a table and pound white claw with their buddies....
Leaving this state soon...company moving because of taxes.

All six oracle buildings almost completely vacant.
Taxes and covid....but it was the dems that killed the economy here. If I had a nickel for every vacant storefront in San Francisco.

you're not wrong

Years ago, I had a long back & forth (via e-mail) with the owner of the local vast right wing conspiracy talk radio station. My complaint was they were playing the same leftist Ad Council ad five times an hour; that the ad was diametrically opposed to the station's programming & purpose.

His response was that if he pulled the Ad Council leftist bullshit, the FCC would pull his license
