Update: Not just a red wave, a red tsunami:

Panic at The New York Times Editorial Board, notes JustTheNews:

Arecent editorial from the New York Times cautions the Democratic party to head the results of Tuesday night's elections in some parts of the country and workshop a game plan to pivot back toward more centrist policies, and away from the progressive-leaning ideologies that many voters dismissed this week.

The editorial reads, "what is badly needed, is an honest conversation in the Democratic Party about how to return to the moderate policies and values that fueled the blue-wave victories in 2018 and won Joe Biden the presidency in 2020."

"The party has become distracted from crucial issues like the economy, inflation, ending the coronavirus pandemic and restoring normalcy in schools and isn’t offering moderate, unifying solutions to them," it continues.

Worse than we could have ever imagined: The State Department now believes that up to fourteen thousand Americans were left behind in Afghanistan.

Fourteen. Thousand.

They're not admitting this publicly -- of course! why should the public have any idea what the government is doing in a post-democracy! -- but this is the number they talk about behind closed doors.

The State Department believes as many as 14,000 U.S. legal permanent residents remain in Afghanistan, Foreign Policy has learned, as the agency faces increasing scrutiny from Congress about the status of U.S. citizens and green card holders that are still stranded in the Taliban-controlled country.

The finding, disclosed by a congressional aide familiar with the matter, has been transmitted by the State Department to aides on Capitol Hill in private, but officials demurred on revealing the figure when questioned by Republican lawmakers on Wednesday, insisting the agency doesn't track the figure.

"Isn't the operating assumption about 14,000?" Republican Rep. Chris Smith asked Brian McKeon, deputy secretary of state for management and resources, at a hearing on Wednesday, referring to the figure briefed in private.

"We don’t track [legal permanent residents]," McKeon responded. "It's a good question why we don't," he added, suggesting the lack of clarity might be because the State Department does not require Americans and legal permanent residents traveling abroad to report their whereabouts.

Tulsi Gabbard
@TulsiGabbard

McAuliffe's loss is a victory for all Americans. Why? Because it was a resounding rejection of efforts to divide us by race, the stripping of parental rights, and arrogant, deaf leaders. This benefits us all.

Via John Ekdahl, Tom Cotton spreads knowledge of the Chinese term baizuo, or "White Liberal," or "stupid white leftist." It's pronounced, I think, "Bites-wow" or "bite-zwow."

baizuo.jfif

Man whose brain is literally dying says the American people are confused.

The American people.

Not him.

He'll have to "explain them," he says.

President Ice Cream Medication first claimed that reports that he'd pay illegal aliens $450,000 per person "garbage" now says he'd be "perfectly comfortable" paying that amount.

A "critic" wants to #Cancel classic rock because it's triggering.

A New York Times contributing opinion writer wants to cancel classic rock songs just as activists have canceled Confederate statues.

"I want to live in a world where I can be moved by art and music and literature without having to come up with elaborate apologies for that work or for its creators," Jennifer Finney Boylan, a transgender activist and author, wrote on Wednesday. Boylan urged listeners to scrap iconic artists and songs, including Don McLean's "American Pie" and the Rolling Stones' "Brown Sugar," if the artists have personal flaws or their lyrics are not sufficiently "inclusive" or "just."

Oh great, another mentally-ill transgender forcing his lunacy into my life.

Am I allowed to notice that a surpassing number of transgenders are deeply unwell people who wish to inflict their own twisted misery upon others or nah?

Joy Reid is too stupid to debate Winsome Sears, so she has this shuckin' and jivin' clown on to call her a white supremacist.

81 Fourteen. Thousand.

Possibly a bit overblown - the fourteen thousand refers to green card holders as well as citizens.

OTOH, if you have a green card, you are supposed to be in the United States at least six months a year (if you are planning on spending more than six months in a row abroad, you are supposed to get permission from the US government first), so these aren't people who are permanently residing in Afghanistan (at least in theory).

92 65 I think grocery stores are hanging on to fresh food longer than they should be now. Slimey lunch meat, produce and meat right on the edge with prices going up. Don't trust them not to throw meat on the way out into the freezer. Imagine how many times turkeys will have been thawed and re-frozen this year.

Posted by: dartist at November 05, 2021 05:41 PM (+ya+t)

----------------

Years ago, as a wayward yute, I ended up working in the meat department at a supermarket. Here's how it worked. Cut a steak from black angus, it goes on the display marked black angus. After 4-5 days, it's unwrapped, new blood pads put in, and it's put on the display marked USDA Prime. 4-5 more days, and it goes in the grinder and onto the "ground round" display. 4-5 days more, "ground chuck" display. 4-5 days more, it all goes back into the butcher area where it is mixed with old lamb, old veal, old whatever and stuffed into kielbasa, which has a shelf life of about three weeks.

Were I not such a dedicated carnivore, that job experience would have turned me into a vegetarian. And that pales in comparison to what you see in the kitchen of an all-night diner, which was my next job.

182 So. Baizou is roughly equivalent to the Japanese gaijin, aka foreigner, which can modified by adding a color (white, black, etc) though white is the default mode iianm.

I think there is some of that - Chinese also have a term "White Monkey Jobs" where they have foreigners wear odd suits and do silly stuff.

All our interventions, including these worthless vaccines, have done nothing to bend any curves or change how the virus is virusing. Other than select for intervention evading mutations that are keeping it going.

But other than that, virus is virusing, governed by the natural processes that govern such things. The virus is like John Cleese, it farts in the general direction of the vaccines.

A newly-elected county commissioner in my county had his social media scrutinized by a Democratic political operative after the election, and it was discovered that a) he doesn't think that transgender "women" are women, and b) that he thinks that Islam is incompatible with democracy (a view shared by many Islamic religious leaders).

The whole Portland metro political establishment (including, shamefully, the other Republican on the county commission) demanded that he resign.

He told them to go piss up a rope.

The two other county commissioners are busily trying to figure out how to withhold his salary.

Curiously, although he's been in office long enough to be recalled under Oregon law, no effort is being made to recall him. I wonder why.

258 Remember that the polls are clownishly biased toward Democrats, and that includes R+7 results.

The sad thing is that there was a very easy path for Democrats to minimize losses next year: stop bothering Americans. Plainly, Americans don't care how much money they spend. Sure, Republican bloggers would get all buttmad about it, and Afghanistan was a disgrace, and political people will get real mad about election laws solidifying Democrat supermajorities forever. But that's all Romney era cuck dork shit. Normal people don't care at all.

Just don't make school illegal! Stop pretending that COVID requires a permanent hell-state! It was fine to pretend that it was Ebola to get elected, but you have the seats now. We can all read the numbers. It's time let most of America do what they plainly plan to do about Wuhan Flu: ignore it. "Forced injections" is not a governing platform that the liberals joking about going back to brunch on Twitter wanted to rally around.

They simply couldn't leave well enough alone. They can't stop forcing Americans to pay attention to them, when this is what Americans hate most. This was a tragedy in 2009, chasing Obamacare, and now it's a farce.

Residents/evacuees have been divided into 3 town units each with a mayor and deputy mayor, and the base is preparing the dwellers for winter with new clothing, heaters, improved walkways, etc. Guess it's the long haul for some.

But as for last week, 25,000 have landed in Philly for transporting to McG-D-L. It has 8,500 + onboard. Where have the majority of the evacuees gone? (PA was slated to take around 1K, NJ around 650 and Delaware 30. Yes, and that's a lot for Delaware!)
