The Morning Rant – “Show Me The Republican And I’ll Find You The Campaign Finance Violation”
I have written a couple times recently about how Campaign Finance laws are really just weapons to be used against Republicans, whereas Democrats can aggressively violate campaign finance laws without the FEC or Justice Department investigating them. In fact, hated Republicans such as Marjorie Taylor Greene have been investigated without cause - she had to prove her innocence without there even being any evidence of wrongdoing. In a post last week, I contrasted the indictment of Nebraska Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, who may go to jail for (allegedly) lying to the FBI about $30,000 in campaign donations, with Anthony Fauci, who will never face punishment for his perjury about funding the Wuhan lab. Commenter “AFG Vet” made this comment, which I fear is prescient.
Sol Wachtler famously stated that a District Attorney can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich. Lavrentiy Beria is alleged to have told Stalin, “Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.” Remember how Texas Governor Rick Perry was indicted by a hyper-partisan Democrat District Attorney in 2014 for the “crime” of using his gubernatorial veto power? The charges were ultimately dropped, but they served their purpose in that Perry was tarnished for having been “criminally indicted”, thus killing any future presidential viability. I decided to search for news stories about FEC investigations and campaign finance violations. I found plenty, and you’ll not be surprised to find out who is being targeted:

His enemies have never forgotten or forgiven him for that. Giuliani associate Lev Parnas found guilty on campaign finance charges [Yahoo News – 10/22/2021] Rudy Giuliani is a Republican and loyal Trump supporter. Postmaster General Investigated Over Possible Campaign Finance Violations [NY Times – 6/03/2021]
The Justice Department is investigating the postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, over possible violations of campaign finance laws while he was running a company and building a reputation as a top Republican donor, his spokesman said on Thursday.Louis DeJoy is a Republican appointed by Donald Trump. I’ve tried to find any recent stories about Democrats under investigation or indictment. The only non-Republican I can find is Abhiji Das, who ran for Congress in Massachusetts as an “Independent Democrat” (e.g. the conservative choice) against an incumbent Democrat, Lori Trahan.
Former U.S. Congressional Candidate Indicted for Federal Election Campaign Act Violations and False Statements. [US Justice Dept – 6/29/2021] Our friend AFG Vet is probably correct. We should expect the floodgates to open further, with our hyper-politicized FEC and Justice Department targeting Republicans and conservatives they think they can disqualify with corrupt investigations and indictments. I am going to presume that every allegation, investigation, and indictment against Republican candidates in 2022 and 2024 are political stunts. My give-a-damn threshold is “Would a Democrat be in trouble for this?” And we all know the answer to that question. Democrats, the media, and their Deep State allies are likely going to use “campaign finance violations” as their “Culture of Corruption” reboot in the next two elections. And yeah, the campaign laws are all a joke. They are useful sometimes, other times not. It depends entirely on who they would be useful against. And those laws are in good company, especially from securities law.
If you're Martha Stewart, you go to jail for a securities violation that no one would ever consider looking in to if it had been done by someone on the right team. Dinesh DeSouza goes down for a campaign finance violation that was a nothingburger, while Obama raked in cash from foreigners on a grand scale.
The laws are irrelevant. They exist only to ensure that the tyrants can live Beria's dream. This is the reason for the laws, the regulations, the NSA and FBI databases and every other facet of our high-tech dystopian panopticon. Campaign finance laws are useful for some things, securities laws for other things, environmental regs for others, etc.
In a tyranny - and make no mistake, we *are* in a tyranny, and an increasingly totalitarian one - laws serve but one purpose: enabling selective enforcement.

Virginia, my favorite topic these days. We had a governor who had beaten his Democrat opponent by 30 POINTS in 2009. The Obama justice department opened an investigation on him for "illegal gifts." The investigation was spurred by a "whistle blower" - the chef at the Governor's mansion. The governor got some gifts (like a Rolex) from a friend - a friend who also had business before the government. BUT - the governor never did anything for his friend or his business.
Any, the DoJ prosecuted and convicted him. He appealed. All the way to the Supreme Court. Where they tossed the case because they convicted him of something that wasn't - get this - against the law.
Well, of course, what office does he go to to get his reputation back? And it had a negative affect on the party overall.
Were the DoJ prosecutors who wrongfully prosecuted the governor sanctioned, or fired? You know the answer.

I am unsure as to if the laws were designed for that purpose. However, that is exactly how the laws have been applied. If a candidate isn't in the club, that candidate-especially a challenger to an incumbent-will have a difficult time raising money to get the face and message out.

Reasons:
1. There's no need: If you've had the Covid, you already are as, or more immune than those who get the shot (all studies support this).
1(a). Don't take unnecessary medicines for any reason.
2. No doctor has prescribed it to me. The government recommends it to all, but Fauci, Psaki, Biden know nothing of my personal medical history/issues.
3. It's proving to be worthless. Approximately 50% of the hospitalized have been shot; the immediate need for "boosters" shows the shots don't work as they claimed.
4. There is a danger- Colin Powell, others paralyzed.

The Democrat/Uniparty establishment postures in front of the Blue Bubble areas, and forget that the Red Enclave areas also vote, until an election like 2016 remind them otherwise. Ignoring the heartland in favor of the coastal areas has happened in the past. However, in the past the swells of election returns from the heartland was rewarded with legislation and regulation that at least temporarily redressed grievances. Indeed, the health of the heartland was viewed as the health of the Republic, and the coastal monied class remembered where the basis of their success was located. They need to. They've caused a problem. They have the OSHA recommendation, but not a mandate. They have the EO pseudo-mandate (it's illegal, but it's there), but it isn't universal. There is a pretty big walkout happening across industries. The Karens in any given company are clamoring for mandates, but some states have outlawed them and even in the states that haven't, a lot of the companies are afraid of the consequences if they do (more walkouts, harder to hire, etc.). And then there's the problems of companies that *don't* want to and aren't just afraid of push-back if they do so anyway.
Just like with mask mandates, the companies don't want to fly solo. They need someone to backstop their decisions and turn it into a fait accompli. They don't want to have to take responsibility for pissing off either the Karens or the normals. The solution to that is the state. The state comes down on one side or the other - a mandate or an anti-mandate, and so provide cover.

If they were going to publish a rule, they would have done so already. This is a press release to try to get US companies over the edge. But most are seeing the pushback. This would be political suicide for the Biden admin. But I think they are already dead, so maybe they will do it anyway. I have my doubts. I actually think the smart play would be for them to make it way to broad that the courts have no choice to strike it down, and then just blame the courts.

If we want to get rational, and why would we start now, a rational person would say with respect to Covid we do not have a long enough time horizon to conclude that natural immunity necessarily beats vaccine immunity - just with respect to Covid.
However, a rational person would also conclude that natural immunity would almost always beat a vaccine. Human history would indicate this.
How long does natural immunity last? Who knows? Perhaps not long at all if Covid is more similar to other rhinoviruses. But if that is the case, why would a jab last long at all?
Since none of this is rational or science, I'm going to stick with the "because I don't want it" defense, which is frankly all an American should ever need.

Right now there are very few hydrogen fueling spots in the world (a couple dozen in the US, mostly in California), which greatly reduces the use of hydrogen cars, but they have a huge advantage over electrical recharge: its basically the same fill time as gasoline.

The amazing thing about the Hindenburg is how many people survived the very spectacular crash. 62 people survived, which is about twice as many people as died in the event. That's part of why I think that the end of airships as a means of travel was all about economics and not about any of the airship crashes.

Show me how to handle hydrogen as safely as gasoline. It's tough to beat gasoline as a portable energy source. Shit stays potent enough for months, yet doesn't really ignite unless you want it to. Gas and diesel are about as good as it gets, as far as safely handling portable energy sources for the common man.

I know. That's why I put "problem" in quotation marks. That is the reasoning behind a push for hydrogen fuel cells though. Fill your tank up like gasoline and the byproduct is water not carbon dioxide. I stopped fantasizing about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles during my second year in college in the 2000s when the push for the tech was probably at its greatest hype.

In terms of deaths per mile transported, gasoline is by far the most hazardous substances transported in over-the-road trucks. The reason that gasoline is, usually, safely handled is because of elaborate safety protocols and equipment that have been invented and implemented over the last 150 years. Gasoline is not by any stretch of the imagination "safe."
