From WikiArt:
Homer often turned to watercolor when he traveled, including during the period he spent in the fishing village of Cullercoats, England. Originally titled Far Away from Billingsgate, this watercolor was later renamed Mending the Nets after Homer scratched away the scenery behind the two engaged in the title activity. The simplicity of the local lifestyle appealed to his interest and gave him a new selection of genre subjects loosely related to his increasing interest in marine scenes. The high level of detail in the work, especially in the figures' hair and the fishing net, evidences Homer's great skill with the difficult medium. The women wear tattered clothes and are focused on their work, a sharp contrast to Homer's earlier compositions of genteel women often engaged in recreational activities. So -
About a month and a half ago I mentioned that I had been having a burning / stabbing pain in my chest from under the left breast to the sternum, coming and going. I was checked out at the ER, who thought it was shingles. My PCP sent me to a cardiologist and a neurologist for a checkup, as well. The verdict is that (surprisingly) nothing is wrong with me, and that most likely I pinched a nerve and just need to ride it out. Since the pain has been fading, I guess that's what I will do, but I told the neurologist I'd check in again if it didn't go away.
This is a rather soothing image. The young women (fishermen's wives or daughters?) performing a mundane task utilizing their knitting skills are able to do a chore sitting down, quietly. Much women's work back then was on their feet. And the mild, varied earth colors of yellow and brown are relaxing, nothing to distract their attention or the viewers'. Even the skin tones reflect the browns and yellows used in the background, nets and the stone work. I get no sense of sound, just the visual. It is relaxing.
The blending of the limited color scheme and the worn quality of the nets reminds me of Andrew Wyeth. That's a good thing. Posted by: JTB at October 18, 2021 09:11 AM (7EjX1) 187

CHICAGO (AP) -- Actor Jussie Smollett was indicted Tuesday for a second time on charges of lying to police about a racist and anti-gay attack he allegedly staged on himself in downtown Chicago, renewing a divisive criminal case that drew worldwide attention last year.

It's chest and triceps day!
But it's also "get my car towed to a shop to get a new starter motor" day. Good relationship with the owner of the gym, which is where the car is currently "resting comfortably"... Trying to decide to workout before or after I get the car towed. (thinking) GAINZ first!!1! Probably only 3-4 exercises today, so it'll be a quick-ish workout. The plan -- pyramid 45/55/65lbs dumb bells for the chest press, trying to get sets of 12. Then grab some 25lbs and do a burnout set. Then do another type of press (shoulder, decline, or incline), then do a tricep exercise (assisted dips or pulldowns, or both). Then get towed like a boss. She was chairman of a local government Sea Level Rise Preparedness and Resilience project. She once captained a Navy warship. The appointment looks great on paper except for one kinda big problem.
This is not a warship position. Its a commercial shipping appointment and she has zero experience aboard any commercial ships. She does not even have experience leading navy military sealift ships. Posted by: rhennigantx at October 18, 2021 09:28 AM (yrol0) 244

243 Phillips is a highly decorated Navy leader with a long list of accomplishments and is highly respected by everyone gCaptain has interviewed. She was head of the Navys Climate Change Task Force and is a highly sought after consultant on climate security issues. She holds an MBA.
I always wondered what happened to baby poo in utero,
******* I could wax lyrical on the subject. Babies don't eat in utero but do swallow sloughed cells along with amniotic fluid. This makes a generally low residue clump in the distal colon that includes bile, thus taking on a dark green color. This is known as meconium and is generally retained in the rectum until feedings begin following birth. First bowel movement after birth is generally within 24 hours. Longer than that may signal certain pathologic conditions. Meconium itself is generally harmleess, exceptL On the earlier end of the timeline, if a baby is subjected to stress during labor (low oxygen, compressed umbilical cord, cord around the baby's neck, etc.) the meconium can be expelled into the amniotic fluid, exposing the baby to the risk of getting it into the mouth prior to delivery and breathing it into the lungs with first breath, causing a form of chemical pneumonia that can be life-threatening.
