Meet The PetMorons

theBoyz_traveling (1).jpg

Hi Mis. Hum.

Our two traveling companions, Hudson (2 year old Mastiff / 110 lbs.) and Beorn (8 year old Bernese Mtn. Dog / 125 lbs.). We recently returned from a week-long, five state road trip with these guys. They love the road. Also, a recent portrait of Beorn. -Steve in Spokane

Beorn2018 (1) (1).jpg

The portrait of Beorn was produced by Steve. I hope you check out Topdog's website. This Moron does outstanding art work.

Hi Ace of Spades Pet Thread,

Here are some photos of my 14 year old cat Peter (also known as Trouble or my animate Halloween decoration). I’ve had him since he was three days old when I rescued Peter, his mommy and 4 littermates from single digit temperatures.
He has led a very dramatic life.
He made the TV news when he survived being shot between the eyes with an arrow by an evil neighbor.
The vet removed the arrow and Peter was fine except for an enlarged iris as you can see in the photo.
He befriends squirrels and plays with them in the yard.
Last summer he developed crystals in his bladder and ended up in the ICU of the big city/major university veterinary hospital. Two operations, three weeks in the Kitty ICU and many thousands of dollars later, Peter was home, taking a sunbath at the front door when his squirrel friend stopped by to see where Peter had been. I imagine the squirrel is saying “Hi Peter, where have you been? You smell funny. (you can see Peter’s paws and belly are still shaved from the IV)

If you say kiss-kiss, Peter will give you a kiss.

He terrorizes the chihuahua I dog-sit by pretending to give her a kiss, but instead smacks her with his big paw. (he is three times heavier than the dog)
He is a very chatty cat.

He is loved very much.

Another time I will send photos of Peter’s littermate Gilbert the Diabetic Cat.
Thank you, Barbara

Well it certainly sounds as if Peter has 9 lives and has used at least two of them. He's in good hands with you Barbara. We certainly can tell he is well loved. Thanks for sharing today.

I wish you would have submitted a photo of the 18 pound trooper that did this to your wood pile. Hope you are around today and add some more information in the comments.

Charlie (1).jpg

Our newest addition to Shep's is Charlie a 10 year old husky lab mix. He's a big guy at 110 pounds and needs to lose weight! He's on thyroid medicine and pain pills for his joints. He's super mellow and loveable! When he runs he runs like a bear! LOL. We love him! - Jewells

It sounds like you have your hands full with Charlie. Good luck with his weight loss and finding a new forever home for him.

OBLIO1 (1).jpg

A couple pictures of my cat Oblio; she's been feature before. She was my daughter's cat - until a job change - more travel - required a new home. I've always been a dog person, but the little fuzzface wormed her way into my heart to become the sweetest, prettiest, most spoiled cat in the world. During the night, she takes the overwatch to guard me while I sleep. She wakes me promptly at 6AM for breakfast.

Several years ago she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Always fatal, no cure, all you can do is delay the inevitable. I will do what is necessary to give her as good a quality of live for as long as possible before sending her over the Rainbow Bridge. Treatment has been working: stable kidney function for now. She still acts like a goofy kitten occasionally. Regards, Butch.

Oh my, I can see how this little cuttie wiggled her way into your heart. Best wishes on fighting off the kidney disease. We appreciate your contribution today.

14 Afternoon, all,

Peter the black cat looks like a charmer. Thee's something special about black cats -- they tend in my experience to be the most easygoing and adaptable of all cats, maybe even the most intelligent. My late Marie-Antoinette was like that, and she too lived through a lot of adventures, most safe but some not. She made it to 13, or so we think, since we don't know exactly when she was born.

17 OT, but the greatest of all the George Reeves Superman episodes is on Decades Channel, "Five Minutes to Doom." A mystery for the Daily Planet reporters, a ticking clock, atmosphere and foreshadowing, and a denouement that features one of Superman's most dramatic rescues, all in 30 minutes. Dynamite stuff.

Okay, back to the animals.

Delilah went Best of Breed today. Went in the Hound Group and looked great. Made the cut. Judge sends everyone around one last time. Pulls Delilah out first, then tells Brian to stand in the 4th place spot and places three dogs ahead of her.

Son of a bitch. Not for giving her 4th - that happens - but the cheesy way he did it.

30 H'lo, Nurse,

Chekov has become the Codger Cat, sort of a Walter Brennan of felines. He moves better than he did a month ago, though he is still not jumping up on the sofa with us or demanding his spot on my lap. He sleeps on the floor in the bedroom most of the time, but is not hiding under the bed or chairs. He eats solidly, purrs loudly, and enjoys attention. But he just is not the lively cat he was 2 months ago, I'm afraid.

His adopted brother Wolf I hope can come back from Linda's soon. However, I'm going to have to figure out how to feed him and Chekov without the younger cat gobbling all the chow.

Good name, Scout! Marie was also a semi-longhair, though she did not have the Persian face. The giant black incumbent, Wolf, is also long-haired, but he has a rather doggy sort of face with a long heavy muzzle, possibly because he was altered late -- at age 1.5 when I took him in. (Possibly there are long-haired feral cats roaming here who can trace their ancestry to him during his time as a stray.)

34 Don't know if any of you remember but a good friend of mine adopted one of our Shep's dogs about 2 months ago. Well...apparently she has had a few accidents in the house and now my friend was forced to either give her up or move. He's 80 years old. He is living rent free in his exwifes granddaughters house. (long story). I'm just heartsick. I wish I had known there were problems I could have helped and made suggestions to him on what to do. So... Shep's will take her back and we'll start over.

Keep working at your art. Before I ever felt confident in my work, I spent a LOT of time looking at art that I admired, and thinking about WHY I liked it so much. Knowing that, it was then a matter of practice and time to build those skills.

My late cat loved cheese. When she was dying of cancer, the prednisone helped with shrinking the tumor (for a while).

I would crush up the prednisone tablet and mush it up with cheese, and hand feed it to the cat.
That worked for me.

83 AOP, we had 4 Labs but only one of them ever got to fly on a commercial carrier (twice were international flights). The only prep we did was to use the same dog carrier for the flight as we used to crate her at home. That way, she was already familiar with it. She did great on all flights and I am sure Pogo will too!

If I were closer, I would offer to doggy sit.

Our demon cat would jump in the shower with you and drink the water. Unless you closed the bathroom door he was going to be in the tub and drinking water while you were in the shower we had to be careful. He absolutely loved running water all of his life. Towards the end we would crack the faucet open just a bit in the tub and he would spend hours in there lapping up water drops.

Because when you tell a dog to come to you, it will.

And can someone verify for me...were cats the only domesticated animal to domesticate themselves?
