The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Bake That Cake!
And if were up to the Nutmeg* state, religion-based pregnancy assistance would have to include referrals to abortion clinics.

This is insane. Or left-wing, which in today's America is pretty much the same thing. How the attorney general of Connecticut doesn't see this as a blatant violation of our Constitutional rights is beyond me and most sentient beings, but as usual, the progressive movement is on the offensive, as they have been for more than a century.

Federal Suit Filed Against Connecticut Law That Punishes Pro-Life Speech

Attorneys for a Connecticut faith-based pregnancy center are mounting a constitutional challenge to a state law requiring it to provide abortion referrals, claiming the statute violates the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious freedom and freedom of association, due process, and equal protection.

What's next? Forcing a Kosher butcher to provide directions to the nearest pork store or lobster pound?

The First Amendment is clear, but the prohibition against a state religion has always rankled the leftists because of course they want a state religion...it's called socialism. And they absolutely loathe competition from those pesky pro-life weirdos.

I cannot see this law surviving a challenge in the courts, but that presupposes that the judges have read and respect the United States Constitution, and that is becoming rarer and rarer.

But it really is stupid, and the sub-literate 90 IQ attorney general is laughably inept at defending this indefensible law.

Tong said he supports the right to express a pro-life viewpoint, but "there is also the reality of deceptive advertising by other LSPCs. Some LSPCs have misled pregnant women into the false belief that they offer abortion services, emergency contraception, and unbiased counseling."
"Some." Sure. Too bad he doesn't provide examples. But "deceptive advertising" by religious organizations could be the next target.

What do you mean "Jesus Saves!" That isn't provable in court, therefore you must take down the sign or provide information to direct potential worshipers to other religions that do not agree.

It sounds absolutely ridiculous, but so does the original law, which was passed by both legislative houses and signed by the governor!

*It's called the Nutmeg state because the spice was imported to Connecticut by sailors returning from the South Seas...and the clever Yankees would often carve fake nutmeg from blocks of wood and sell them to the unsuspecting.

We've talked quite a bit about a proposed "national divorce" here, but Victor Davis Hanson wrote a piece this morning on the 3rd century split between Rome and Byzantium;

https://tinyurl.com/2sz5vkz9

He concluded with a thought that I concur with, whenever I think about it deeply:

"But as in the past, it is far more likely that one state model will prove unsustainable and collapse than it is that either region would ever start a civil war."

I think we will split, but only *after* the American government collapses, not before. And I think that event is closer than any of us dares to think.

Friend from work sends newsletters from his financial advisor out to a group of us each week. This is part of what the advisor stated this past week.

For the third quarter, FactSet expects the S&P 500 to average 27.6% earnings growth and 14.9% revenue growth. Fourth-quarter estimates still remain solid, with FactSet anticipating 21.5% average earnings growth and 11.4% average revenue growth. Yes, that's down from the 91% average earnings growth achieved in the second quarter, as economic growth is slowing, and year-over-year comparisons are now less favorable. But I still expect our Growth Investor stocks to remain characterized by double-digit earnings growth for the foreseeable future. Currently, our Buy List is characterized by 57.2% average annual earnings growth.

Think about Stag-flation. When money is printed, it has no place to go except real estate and/or the Financial Markets. Today, stock market pricing is simply a matter of how much liquidity the Fed is pumping into the system, and has no relation to the actual economy.

I think it is very probably that the economy could decline severely all next year, but the DJIA will go over 100,000. It may go to 1,000,000 a year later - that's how hyperinflationary blowouts work. The numbers go up, but the numbers have no real world meaning anymore.

79 Sanjay Gupta MD has more thoughts about his harrowing time facing down Joe Rogan in the podcast booth!

>In fact, when I told Joe early in the podcast that I didn't agree with his apparent views on vaccines against Covid, ivermectin and many things in between, part of me thought the MMA, former Taekwondo champion might hurtle himself across the table and throttle my neck.

Look at the danger he faced!

>I guess a small part of me thought I might change Joe Rogan's mind about vaccines. After this last exchange, I realized it was probably futile. His mind was made up, and there would always be plenty of misinformation out there neatly packaged to support his convictions. Truth is though, I am still glad I did it.

And there it is. Gupta the brave truth-teller just can't penetrate the wall of "misinformation" supporting Rogan. There's so much cringe and so many bad-faith assertions to pick apart here that it's laughable.

120 Rogan was very aggressive with Gupta. I'll give Gupta that. He wasn't angry, he wasn't unhinged, he wasn't about to "hurtle himself across the table" and throttle him. He was, though, aggressive. He didn't let go of the points he wanted Gupta to make (like "do you think it is a problem that your network openly and gleefully lied about Ivermectin, called it a 'horse dewormer' and ignored its huge legacy of human treatment?") and cornered Gupta like the dog that he is until Gupta answered the question straight.

But there's a big difference between aggression - which is fine - and violence. There was no violence. Was Gupta discomforted by the interview? Probably, yeah. He got pressed hard on specific issues in which his own credibility and honor were held up for inspection, and this was done by an interviewer with more views that Gupta's whole network. That probably was uncomfortable and stressful and unpleasant for him. But it wasn't, at any point, violent or approaching violence or moving toward violence.

These assholes need to get their heads straight. If that interview was borderline violent, then both speech and violence have lost all meaning and all distinction.

I thought I'd share this because most of you really have no idea what it means to "sacrifice" in "challenging" times.

From the Harvard Club of Boston:

Our Harvard Club of Boston has faced many challenges in its 113 year history. During World War I we became, in effect, Boston's Army and Navy Officers Club; from 1929-1939 the club acted as an employment agency by posting a list of positions needed by members who were out of a job; and during World War II we opened up our squash courts to provide lodging for junior officers at $1.50 per night. We are resilient, resourceful [...blah blah blah yadda yadda...].

The rest goes on to introduce their totalitarian "VAX-Safe" program which requires proof of vax from everyone. But hey, they gave up their squash courts during an unspecified period of time during WWII!!

Not even close to a good analogy. Jews believe gentiles aren't morally bound by every rule of the Torah; Rather the righteous gentile abides by the rules of Noah which does NOT include not eating baby back ribs.

So there is NO religious conundrum for an Orthodox Jewish butcher to recommend a gentile butcher whom deals in pork. Out of politeness you might not ask, but in doing so you aren't asking him to help you commit an immoral act, simply because it's not immoral for a gentile to eat pork.

My first roommate in college was from Bogalusa - we always considered it more So. Mississippi than So. Louisiana. Its so hot there, the kinda of humid hot that, say, if you were in a parade there, one where you agreed to wear, say, some pig costume for Joe's Pork Emporium for some beer money, and it got so hot you passed out before the end and all the whole town of Bogalusa saw at the end was a giant pig in the back of a convertible, its head hanging between its leg.

I bet right now you're thinking that would never happen to someone, but it might.

144 59 And if it hasn't shown up anywhere else yet, story of the day: 30-something Asian lesbian NYPD officer wounds 20-something ex-girlfriend and kills ex-girlfriend's 20-something new squeeze.

Regarding Mohammed Tell over in Norway, I was impressed to note that NPR actually mentioned that he was a Muslim known-wolf. Also per the updated Daily Mail piece, appears he didn't start plucking the bow and killing people until AFTER the police were already there and in contact with him.
-------
Hey the LGBTUV people are just like us now, they can have ax-crazy exes and felonies too! Actually, from a couple of the actual lesbians I've known, they had some commitment and co-dependency issues to begin with. Yeah, the story passes the truth test to me!

And the Muzzie archer (blast from the past) shooting after the police responded is no surprise. What's the use of declaring a jihad and becoming a holy warrior-martyr if there are no infidels to smite? Norwegian police still need more training for mass shooters, even a few years after the neo-Nazi guy.

He's a press whore, so this is true by default. But it's not just him. Journalists have been squawking about the "dangers" of their profession for at least a decade now. And what are those "dangers?" Dissent and aggressive questioning and push-back and summary dismissal of what they have to say. Why is this happening? Because they are, virtually to every individual, stupid, dull-normal liars.

But calling them stupid, dull-normal, lying, agitating communists is the only "danger" they face. And even that is too much.

Rogan can be an ass about sticking to his points with guests. But he's okay to do that by me. Make the guest on the hot seat defend their position; if they can, good. If they can't, well, they can look the fool on YouTube. But that's the problem with the current blue-bubble Left. They create a big echo chamber without opposition or even "devil's advocate" discussion, so when their members like Gupta meet a guy who says "put up or shut up" they can't handle it.

It's way more complicated than Buttgig or Biden can even understand. Opening the ports 24/7 won't do shit. You don't have customs people ready to work 24/7. You don't have enough truckers. The longshoremen's unions won't agree to it.

If ever there were to be a change in that trend, it might be when globalists become trillionaires and owners of ... everything, then conspire to take over the free world governments (as they mostly have now). Add to that the ability of DeepState intel to spy on everyone, and adopt social credit scoring for bank access or medical passports for even being able to shop or hold a job ...

They think now is their time ... "we" have yet to stop their long march, even as they collect political prisoners. But indeed they don't control the masses completely, and a majority recognize serious problems ... they have to keep us fighting each other.

I heard it this morning, Larry O'Connor asking, rhetorically, in a lead-in to and interview with Mollie Hemingway, oh, why don't Democrats support election integrity. He know's why, and I guess he expects the questioning tone to raise doubt among the listeners that hey, maybe these guys are a little suspicious on this. NO. Just say they don't support it because they intend to cheat, and election integrity stuff just gets in their way.

And Rogan knows why CNN lied about him, he was trying to get Gupta to say that, and he wouldn't. Just challenge them - they did it to discredit me. They are big promoters of dis- and mis-information while portraying themselves as truthtellers, and you Doctor Gupta are supporting that by not speaking up.

284 I read an interview with Jason Alexander once that explained how George works pretty well to me. Alexander said that he always viewed himself as an alpha male jock type, and his friends would laugh. If you think about it that's the basis of George humor. You can tell he thinks he's the natural macho guy, but he's a little pudgy bald guy. The humor is that he's not just TRYING to be an alpha type, he truly believes he IS so he is always taken aback when he doesn't get that response from others.

286 The Kosher butcher shop pork/lobster store directions thing would never happen because the Left (at least today) doesn't care to promote pork/lobster consumption like it does baby killing.

There's no real concern with any principle(s) on the Left other than getting what the Left wants. So, a more plausible Connecticut law would forcing all butcher shops to post pro-vegan signs (in the name of fighting climate change, or whatever).

Now that someone (me) has thought of it and put it out in the world, there's at least a 60% chance of it actually happening within the next 2 years (at least locally in New Haven).

302 Going back to the other Emergency (to control everything) of global warming, CO2 has increased but temperatures did not increase to match their models.

Tony Heller shows how NASA and NOAA fake their data. 42% of their data is from no longer existent stations, where they use (fake but global warming friendly) models to fabricate data. For those nonexistent stations, temps have risen three degrees over the last 50 years (hence generating their preferred warming trend overall).

307 The SCOTUS on 6/26/2018 reversed the stupid 9th Circuit Court 5-4 which had allowed an identical CA 2015 law to stand that faith-based anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers HAD to advertise referrals to ABORTION clinics as it was a FIRST AMENDMENT issue rather than "truth in advertising" . (Still no proof that women did not understand that these clinics did NOT provide abortions). Thus, the stupid Connecticut Law HAS NO CHANCE of passing Constitutional Muster when challenged on appeal to the regional Circuit Court.

Posted by: Donovan Nuera at October 14, 2021 01:36 PM (iucaD)

308 AG Tong should look into PP's deceptive practice of implying they perform Mammograms.....when they never have. Abortions are 86% of their revenue stream.

Also, when they say to use abortions to "save the life of the mother", what does that mean? Pre-eclampsia/eclampsia (toxemia of pregnancy) is VERY common complication of pregnancy, usually in 2-3rd trimester past viability. Are they saying that while the patient is experiencing hypertensive emergency, losing vision, having seizures, liver failure, intracerebral hemorrhage, the OB-GYN is going to wait 3 days while they have induced dilation of the cervix so as to abort the child???!!! you deliver the baby via c-section. Standard of care for decades. Same thing with trauma, urgent need for surgery (ie. gallbladder, appendectomy, major fractures, craniectomies, et al..); you do a C-section to save the baby, not wait for cervical dilation to butcher the kid. A former SUNY-Stony Brook OB-GYn who had performed 20,000 abortions before he saw the light, testified to Congress about 10 years ago with this perspective. So always point out the "life of the mother" is not a full trump statement; point out the clinical picture
